Here’s To You Mom! This month’s issue is dedicated to the hardest working woman on the planet . . . our Moms! There is none like a Mother. What is so unique about this woman? Well, for starters everyone would argue that they have the Best Mother (me included). We can all share in that fact, we do have the best. This woman that we call Mother is by far God’s greatest creation. The thing that sets her apart is her everlasting love for her children and her intent that they lead normal, well-adjusted lives. Her attributes are so much like the attributes of God; she can be all things at once which is totally awesome. Whatever her children need her to be at the time; she can be that at the drop of a hat. In fact

this woman can wear a plethora of hats all at the same time. Although overworked and underpaid, Mother never complains. She will work her fingers to the bone for her children. She will come to their rescue, no matter what the cause. These are, after all, her God-given 'talents' to take and use for the glory of God. HE expects Mother to raise and nurture her 'charges' to become the best they can be in this world, and equip them for what is needed to get to the other side! Not until we become adults, do we really begin to appreciate who Mother really is. She has nurtured us through our childhood, put up with our sassy ways and times of being lazy during

A mother is the truest friend we have, when trials, heavy and sudden, fall upon us; when adversity takes the place of prosperity; when friends who rejoice with us in our sunshine, desert us when troubles thicken around us, still will she cling to us, and endeavor by her kind precepts and counsels to dissipate the clouds of darkness, and cause peace to return to our hearts. -- Washington Irving (1783-1859)

our teenage years, and cried through our becoming an adult. But Mother was always there to encourage us when we made a mistake, although sometimes it may have been hard not to show disappointment. As we grow older and have our own children, we realize that Mother was a very strong person. We also realize just what it takes to fill her shoes. In our eyes our mothers will never grow old and we are never too old to need her. On Mother’s Day, we will go all out to celebrate this woman God created; and she deserves it all and then some! Mother will always hold a spot deep in our hearts.

Q&A interview

&

INTERVIEW Pastor Jekia Ledbetter

G&G: Pastor Ledbetter, I am very excited for this opportunity to talk with you. We are delighted to welcome you to the Grace & Glory Magazine Family. I like to break the ice by asking my favorite question. Most pastors have shared with me that ‘preaching the gospel’ was not necessarily what they had planned to do with their lives. Was it the same for you? If you were not a Pastor today what would you be doing instead? Pastor Ledbetter: I am very grateful; first I would like to say I Pastor Jekia Ledbetter count it an honor and a privilege to be able to share with all the readers the strategic plan, through faith and obedience, that God has laid for my life and the VMOC family. Becoming a minister less known a pastor was the last thing I thought about. I think this is truly the testimony of every chosen preacher of today. Born and raised in Edmondson Village and dealing with peer pressure,

serving God was the last thing on my mind, nevertheless preaching the Gospel of Jesus Christ. (Wow, how trusting God can change your whole life). Since being arrested by God and called to the pastorate, I can’t see a future without this assignment. I truly believe that what God has designed for my life is so great in size and in scope that I can’t see past it. A future without God, without His call, without His assignment…I can’t see that. G&G: Pastor Ledbetter, in the effort to get to know you better, what three words would you use to best describe yourself and why? What is one thing that most people don’t know about Pastor Ledbetter and would be surprised to know? Pastor Ledbetter: Describing me can be done with three R’s, (Resilient, Reliable, and Relentless). I am Resilient; I believe all leaders need to be. It’s a character trait that you don’t truly know you have until you’ve been thrown in the flames, then to the wolves and then left to die. It speaks to my ability to withstand, keep standing and having done all to stand. We may get knocked down or even hit so hard we stagger. Most people don’t remember the details of the battle, but they will remember who was standing at the end of it. I’m Reliable; we are living in a day and time when so many people have no one to rely on. The church and its leadership have become too unstable and too unreliable, tossing to and fro. What you see today is not what you get tomorrow. But my God is stable!!! What He said He meant

Q&A interview what He spoke He did!! If we are to be His ambassadors, then we must represent Him RIGHT!! We must learn to be consistent. I am Relentless; it’s very hard to remove me from my God given assignment. If He charges me with something, I’m going to get it done!! I don’t like No, and No doesn’t like me. No has hated me ever since I told God YES!! It is my obligation to push my way through. If one door does not avail itself to me and what God has charged me with, I don’t stop until I find the door that gives to His will. The surprising thing that most people don’t know about Pastor Ledbetter is that I went to Peabody Predatory for Voice, Modern Dance, Ballet and Piano. G&G: Pastor Ledbetter, tell us about your call to preach the Gospel, was it a difficult call to accept? Was there anyone who significantly influenced your decision about ministry? Pastor Ledbetter: I believe that all of the “truly” called of the Lord will agree that you are never fully, ready to accept what God has for you to do. We clearly see this in the Bible. Moses, Gideon and Jonah, they all said No initially, not fully understanding all it would entail at the time but, when they harkened to the voice of the Prophet, the Prophet sounded like God. It was difficult to accept my call to preach because, it entitled for something to die in me, and I had my own plans for my life, but when God calls you it’s like an unshakeable call. In that moment when God speaks His prophets have to listen. Answering this call left me preaching my initial sermon titled “Look at Me Now” making a statement to the enemy that I once was lost but now I am found. This call told the story that, Pastor Jekia Ledbetter, was damaged but not destroyed, because God is in the business of recycling! Understand that the life of Jesus has influenced my walk as a leader the most. How He focused on the journey, and committed to being about his “father’s business”. But I would be remiss if I did not mention the influence of my Overseer and father in the Gospel, Overseer Lonnie C. Harris III of Dover, Delaware. The Lord gives you just what you need, just when you need it. I met Overseer during a time in my life when I had been mishandled by leadership, I thought I was in a season of bareness, I had to realize my ground was fertile, the ministry was fertile. He knew immediately by identifying the oil that was upon my life, who I was and what my assignment was. He has helped me flourish so that I can effectively lead the people and the ministry that God has entrusted unto my care.

Pastor Ledbetter ministering to the youth

In this bold stand for the Lord I must thank and give honor to Prophet Janie Pinkett, who served as a Pastor & Spiritual mother to me in my birthing stages; Apostle Damien Hinton of Life Changing Ministry an awesome upright man and father in the Gospel, who supported and prayed my strength from the very beginning of this journey. My Godmother the late Evangelist Joan Crocker Spence taught me how to war in the realm of the spirit (spiritual warfare). I thank God for Dr. Russell Groves, Dean of Maryland Theological Seminary, where I graduated with a degree in Theology, he was there as a father to say “daughter you can do this.” Bishop Robert E. Farrow of Mount Calvary Freewill Baptist Church influenced me that when reading the Word of God, you must let your well go deep. I thank God for the support of Pastor Kenyan Southers of Salt Nation Church, my first real big brother. Lastly two that taught me to stand on the scripture Philippians 4:13, “That I can do all things through Christ which strengthens me,” my son Minister Ke’andre Lucas and Grandfather Trustee Robert L. Wallace, along with my husband who has been strength for the journey. G&G: Pastor Ledbetter, tell us about the vision that led to the creation of Victory Ministries of Christ Church, known to many as VMOC. What has been the most challenging area in building this ministry? I understand this year the church will be celebrating five years of ministry, after five years of building this ministry, what would you say you know for sure? Pastor Ledbetter: God has a way of transforming us for the Right Now! God spoke to me about desiring a people that will be engulfed in Him so much that Victory will actually become their name. A place where the Shekinah Glory will rest and bring a mandate through the prophetic that deliverance through Jesus Christ can live. The Lord precisely spoke to me saying, I need a vessel that will be bold enough, not counterfeit, to let the people know that, “If my people which are called by my name will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then will I hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and will heal their land.” II Chronicles 7:14. VMOC started in the chapel of Gary P. March Funeral Home, I couldn’t understand why there! The Lord downloaded the revelation that what better place to die out of the old than at a funeral home. We have to learn that our flesh has to die in order for Christ to live in us. I Corinthians 15:55-57 “Oh death where is thy sting, O Grave where is our victory. Continued on page 10

Q&A interview But, thanks be to God that gives us the victory through our savior Jesus Christ.” We arrived at a new location called Victory Ministries of Christ Church, “A church that shall have the Victory because of Jesus Christ.” It has been a long road but God is faithful. I am excited to embark upon five years. Five is the number of Grace and what I know for sure, is that God’s grace surely is sufficient for us. G&G: Pastor Ledbetter, being a wife, mother, grandmother, with the added responsibilities of a Pastor, how do you keep things balanced in your life? What was your family’s reaction to your decision to start this ministry; did you have the full support of your husband and children? Pastor Ledbetter: I have a good solid example in my grandparents & spiritual parents of a balanced Godly marriage. I am encouraged to be the pastor and leader when I enter the doors at VMOC and when I’m on assignment for the Lord, but when I am at home, I am given to my husband and he is the head of our home. Balance keeps me sane! As a woman in ministry it is very easy for us to take the lead in every aspect of our lives. I believe God trusts me with the ministry, but he trusts my husband with me. My children rely on me to be their mother. They look for their mother when they wake up in the morning and go to bed at night. Their mother washes their clothes, and cooks them dinner NOT their pastor. Because, I know the difference and value of being their mother above being their pastor, they can respect me and receive from me when we enter the gates of Victory. They are not resentful because they didn’t lose their mother to ministry. I thank God for my friends and family (my grandparents, Robert & Nancy M. Wallace, Pauline Lucas, my great-grandmother Sadie Lucas and my mother Frederica Coates (Levi Coates) and father George Lucas). They are very supportive to the ministry. G&G: Pastor Ledbetter, with the influx of new ministries and hundreds of churches in the Baltimore community, what sets Victory Ministries of Christ and your ministry apart? How would you best describe the ministry of Victory Ministries of Christ Church? If this ministry could be known for one thing, what would that be? Pastor Ledbetter: God sets us apart. If people needed to know one thing about Victory, I would say that we are truly a house of refuge. We are a safe place, when you’ve felt the pain of being broken, dropped and mishandled by church, and your purpose. You will find yourself NEVER to be a repeat offender of that same hurt. People need a place to recover with God, and we provide that here at VMOC and the recovery has been Victorious. How infinite our God was in creation that He could create the billions of people that occupy the earth. Each with varying personalities and complex individuality, and yet still know us all by name!! That’s powerful!! He knows every ministry that belongs to Him. He knows the sound of it, He knows the design of it, He knows the need of it, the capacity of it. HE KNOWS!! I believe we are different because of these things. We sound different; we look different, because we are different. The testimonies housed in Victory, are true testimonies of deliverance. The ministry was not started on the backs of a pretty people. We began on the backs of a needy, broken people who knew God was requiring more of us than we had been giving Him, a group of people that can say Lord I’m not perfect, I have made some mistakes but I really love the Lord! G&G: Pastor Ledbetter, in today’s society, what do you think should be the church’s focus in ministry- the youth, outreach/evangelism, building membership? Do you believe it has become more challenging to reach the unsaved? What should the church be saying and doing? Pastor Ledbetter: It is more difficult to reach the unsaved because the 10    April 2012 | Grace&Glory

church (the Body of Christ) has begun to resemble the world. The world is looking for something different, but when they come into the House of God they don’t see a difference. So they return to the world more broken and bitter than when they began and some of them never come back or recover. Our focus should be on the kingdom, and what God has said about “bringing His Kingdom into the earth.” We need to hit the streets like never before. The four walls of the church should not be allowed to house all of God’s Glory. There are people that may never make it to the church. Will the church go to them? Are our lives readable as living epistles to the lost? Can other believers read our lives and be inspired to do better and live better? G&G: Pastor Ledbetter, as you celebrate five years, what is on the horizon and what is the vision for the next five years for the Victory Ministries of Christ Church? How will it benefit the members and the surrounding community? Pastor Ledbetter: VMOC has recently celebrated the Grand Opening of Victory Childcare Center, “A place where your child can learn to be victorious.” This is a place that confirms, Proverbs 22:6 “Train up a child in the way he should go, and when he is old he will never turn from it,” imparting Christian education, prayer and goals that will bring strength for the journey. Habakkuk 2:2 “Write the vision and make it plain,” the blueprint for Victory Ministries of Christ Church has been written. In five years VMOC will bring to the community ‘The City of Victory’ implementing a GED Program, Grief Counseling, Domestic Violence Counseling (Safe House), Gang Intervention, HIV Awareness, Job Training & Placement and Career Center, Victory Bible Institute, Wallace Banquet Hall, a Food and Clothing Bank, Drug Counseling, a Christian Barber & Hair Salon, Christian Bookstore, Victory Graphics, Big Brother/Big Sister Program, Culinary Arts Foundation, Camp Victory (Recreation Center for our youth) and a Senior Enrichment Center. Each ministry in the city will equip the people for Victorious Living! G&G: Pastor Ledbetter, lastly, during the time that you spend with the Lord is there anything that you can share with us that you believe is on the heart of the Father for His people. Pastor Ledbetter: I believe the Father desires His house to return to a place of Refuge. The Church needs to be safe again. The prophetic has come to break up the plans and the attacks of the enemy by speaking the true Words of the Lord as IT IS WRITTEN!! The enemy is operating illegally amongst the saints and he has not been arrested. Yes, God desires us to prosper and grow, but prophesying houses, cars and land are NOT going to move the enemy and strip his camp; only ministering the unadulterated Word of the Lord and returning ourselves back to prayer, fasting, consecrating and sanctifying our lives for Holy living that we may be examples that His Word is true! Being His sheep and hearing His voice is going to be the key in these final hours. Boldly letting the world know that Holiness is Right and making a decision whether we are going to live for God or the Enemy. You can’t walk with God and hold hands with the Devil! G&G: Pastor Ledbetter, it has been a pleasure talking with you. It is our prayer that God will continue to pour out His favor on Victory Ministries of Christ as you move forward in Kingdom building. Pastor Ledbetter: I Thank God for the time and opportunity to share with the Grace & Glory Family, what the Lord has laid upon my heart. It has been a delightful pleasure and honor. I pray that through your reading it has brought Strength, Wisdom and Courage for the journey but, know that you know that you were Saved for the Cause. No matter what you are going through, no matter what it looks like, no matter how the enemy tries to defeat you, “You shall have the Victory because of Jesus Christ!”

Pastor Jekia Lanise Ledbetter astor Jekia Lanise Ledbetter born August 2, is the Senior Pastor and Founder of Victory Ministries of Christ Church. She is a Wife, Mother, Teacher, and Psalmist that is known for the Prophetic Deliverance Mantle that is on her life.

Pastor Ledbetter has been in church all of her life and was saved at an early age. Knowing that she was always different, she went through many trials and tribulations that left her desperately trying to find out who she was in life. This unanswered question brought about a hardship in her life that caused her to slip into a deep depression that would later lead to a nervous break down. Through this transition God continuously woke Jekia up at 5:00am every morning with Jeremiah 5:1, “Before I formed you in the belly I knew thee and before you came forth out of the womb I sanctified thee.” This caused a spiritual mending in her life that would let the devil know, “I’ll break through before I’ll break down.” This transformation brought about her calling into the ministry. In 2003 Pastor Ledbetter preached her initial sermon from the text using the book of Mark Chapter 5 and titled it “Look at Me Now.” Pastor Ledbetter is an Energetic in Time Prophet, who preaches ‘in your face messages’ that will cause you to deepen your arising with Jesus Christ. Under the leadership of Prophet Jannie Pinkett in Newark, Delaware, Pastor Ledbetter was ordained Assistant to the Pastor in 2005. In 2007 she returned to Baltimore with authority and a clear sight of her destiny. God delivered a vision that came to pass as Victory Ministries of Christ Church, from I Corinthians 15:57 “But thanks be to God that gives us the Victory through our Savior Jesus Christ.” With support and guidance from her Spiritual Father Overseer Lonnie C. Harris III, Victory Ministries of Christ is a church where the broken hearted can be Restored, Replenished and Renewed by taking on a new perception through the revelation of Jesus Christ. This mission and being fully active confirms that VMOC has been established for five years. Pastor Ledbetter is a Kingdom Minded Woman with Character and Integrity releasing the mandate on her life in various states and cities, spreading the Good News of Jesus Christ at various Conferences, Retreats, Churches, funeral homes and arenas. With the support and inspiration from her grandparents Robert & Nancy Wallace, who taught Jekia “to walk by Faith and not by sight” she graduated from Maryland Theological Seminary with a degree in Theology and has been married for ten years to Elder-Elect Christopher Ledbetter. They share four children that are now being groomed for their Calling in the ministries. www.gracenglorymagazine.org  11

A Virtuous Woman

scripture page

Proverbs 31:10-31 (AMP) A capable, intelligent, and virtuous woman--who is he who can find her? She is far more precious than jewels and her value is far above rubies or pearls.

10

The heart of her husband trusts in her confidently and relies on and believes in her securely, so that he has no lack of [honest] gain or need of [dishonest] spoil.

11

She comforts, encourages, and does him only good as long as there is life within her.

12

She seeks out wool and flax and works with willing hands [to develop it].

13

She is like the merchant ships loaded with foodstuffs; she brings her household's food from a far [country].

14

She rises while it is yet night and gets [spiritual] food for her household and assigns her maids their tasks.

15

She considers a [new] field before she buys or accepts it [expanding prudently and not courting neglect of her present duties by assuming other duties]; with her savings [of time and strength] she plants fruitful vines in her vineyard.

16

She girds herself with strength [spiritual, mental, and physical fitness for her God-given task] and makes her arms strong and firm.

17

She tastes and sees that her gain from work [with and for God] is good; her lamp goes not out, but it burns on continually through the night [of trouble, privation, or sorrow, warning away fear, doubt, and distrust].

18

She lays her hands to the spindle, and her hands hold the distaff.

19

She opens her hand to the poor, yes, she reaches out her filled hands to the needy [whether in body, mind, or spirit].

20

She fears not the snow for her family, for all her household are doubly clothed in scarlet.

21

She makes for herself coverlets, cushions, and rugs of tapestry. Her clothing is of linen, pure and fine, and of purple [such as that of which the clothing of the priests and the hallowed cloths of the temple were made].

22

Her husband is known in the [city's] gates, when he sits among the elders of the land.

23

She makes fine linen garments and leads others to buy them; she delivers to the merchants girdles [or sashes that free one up for service].

24

Strength and dignity are her clothing and her position is strong and secure; she rejoices over the future [the latter day or time to come, knowing that she and her family are in readiness for it]!

25

She opens her mouth in skillful and godly Wisdom, and on her tongue is the law of kindness [giving counsel and instruction].

26

She looks well to how things go in her household, and the bread of idleness (gossip, discontent, and self-pity) she will not eat.

27

Her children rise up and call her blessed (happy, fortunate, and to be envied); and her husband boasts of and praises her, [saying],

28

Many daughters have done virtuously, nobly, and well [with the strength of character that is steadfast in goodness], but you excel them all.

29

Charm and grace are deceptive, and beauty is vain [because it is not lasting], but a woman who reverently and worshipfully fears the Lord, she shall be praised!

30

Give her of the fruit of her hands, and let her own works praise her in the gates [of the city]!

ll of us are have moments when we look at our lives retrospectively wondering if some of our decisions, or choices could have landed us in a better place. So much so that even while we are facing an economic tsunami, spiritual bankruptcy, and uninvited affliction, we find ourselves blaming ourselves and wanting to escape from it all; the problem is most of us have no where to hide. We all have found ourselves, thinking it, saying it, or dreaming the escape of a lifetime away from troubles, trials, and temptation. Our problems have become such a common place that we have allowed them to elucidate in our lives so much so that we have forgotten the promises. Many of us have gone to the next level in the game called “fed up” that we have mastered the artillery we need to either arm ourselves with, or put on to fool our allies and opponents. We awake each morning and make the quick decision of which face to put on; should I wear my smile which denotes happiness even in the midst of adversity, or should I put my game face on, the one that tells everyone to just keep their distance. All of us have moments when we wonder is there a place for me to go to hide from what I am going through, or what I just experienced. Times like these leave us despondent, discouraged, and disheartened. Where can we run to just to DEAL with life, without the interruption of trauma and drama, affliction and adversity, pain and pressures? The Bible says, “God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.” NKJV.

My Safe Place

By Donna R. Wilson Minister

Morning Star Baptist Church

In order for us to handle life as it is, we have to trust God enough to know that He is safe. God is not like man who has proven to be fickle, unreliable, and unpredictable, but God is safe enough that you and I are able to take whatever we are dealing with to God and He will always let us in. We can count on our God to be safe enough where we can exhibit our vulnerability and He will not use it against us. We can count on God to be safe enough that we can be open with our issues as numerous as they may be. God knows everything there is to know about us after all, before he formed you in your mother’s womb he knew you (Jeremiah 1:5). There are no secrets we have that are shocking to God, we can risk it all and still see a return on our investment. In order for us to handle life, we have to know that it is okay to allow our weaknesses to become visible as God reminds us that, “My grace is sufficient for you, for My strength is made perfect in weakness” (2 Corinthians 12:9). Your struggles, insecurities, problems that have caused you to become circumstantially weak, the Power of God is great enough to be perfected in your areas of weakness. In order for us to handle life, we have to recognize that because of God’s integrity He does not have an issue with punctuality. God’s help is present, it’s on time, it’s in time, it’s deliberate, it’s intentional, it’s accurate; everything that we need God to be for us, God already is. God shows up to our battles before He wakes us up. If you are feeling overwhelmed, discouraged, disheartened, disappointed, or disenfranchised, Chase God and make Him your Safe Place!

Exercise and Menopause Chalk it up to urban legend: Women postmenopause do not gain weight, especially in their middle, because of hormonal changes that occur with menopause. While the weight gain that occurs mid-life does tend to settle around the waist, research finds it is because of decreased muscle mass, reduced metabolic activity, less physical activity, and an increased caloric intake. This is reportedly caused by decreased expenditure of calories. As people age, both men and women, muscle mass tends to decrease. Because lean body mass drives metabolic functioning, it makes sense that fat mass increases as people slow down their activity. Many things contribute to decreased activity in older women, including: • Aches and pains • Hot flashes • Night sweat • Poor sleep • Appetite disturbances • Decreased physical demands • Lifestyle changes • Decreased activity-based support systems • Joint pain and injuries • Decreased stamina • Medical conditions • Medications that affect appetite, sleep, or digestion

Strength training

Strength training is one of the most important factors in maintaining metabolic function in older women. Compared to their sedentary counterparts, older women who do strength training: • Have more youthful profiles • Have better bones • Are stronger • Have better balance • Have more muscle tissue Home-based strength training is usually the most readily accepted by older women, because women can exercise in the privacy of their own homes. Women at all ends of the spectrum—from very frail to very fit—can perform simple movements.

Some guidelines to follow: • Strength training: Start slowly with little or no weight to establish the range of motion and practice safe movement; increase frequency to 8-10 repetitions of the movement; repeat repetitions, with progression to two or three sets. • Exercise slowly: Perform your exercises By Herline A. slowly, with 3 seconds to lift, one second to Knights, hold, and a slow release to neutral position. RD, LD • Use weights: Use ankle weights for legs and partially filled milk jugs or soup cans for the upper body as hand weights, increasing weight as the exercise becomes easier. • Breath properly: Proper breathing is essential to each exercise, and the exhale should happen during the lift phase, and with the inhale as the weight is lowered. • Exercise regularly: Perform exercises 2-3 days/week, for approximately 30-45 minutes each day you exercise.

Some exercises to try • Knee extension: Seated in a chair, with or without ankle weights, lift and extend each leg, alternating between each leg. • Side shoulder raise: Seated in a chair with arms straight down at the sides, slowly raise both arms up to shoulder height with palms facing down (may perform holding soup cans or hand-held weights). • Knee flexion: Standing behind a chair, bend one knee and lift your heel toward the buttocks, as high as it can go; lower leg and repeat with the alternate leg. • Biceps curl: Seated in a chair with arms down at the sides, slowly bend elbows one at a time and bring the fist toward the bicep, while keeping the upper arm still; lower and repeat with other arm.

Aerobic activity Aerobic activity is essential to cardiovascular functioning and health. Walking is the most recommended activity for women, as it is essential to overall health, requires no equipment, and fits well into most people’s lives. A total of 50 minutes/day is recommended for bone health and cardiovascular functioning, as well as for weight management.

The Rock & Roll Hall of Fame and Museum honored Kirk Franklin in a tribute to rock’s gospel roots. Kirk also performed that evening but many others were present to celebrate and honor him. Fred Hammond, Donnie McClurkin, and ensembles from the Cleveland area gave musical tributes. In 1993 his debut album, Kirk Franklin & The Family, made history, as the first gospel album to ever sell more than a million copies. To date, as a contemporary gospel artist, he has won seven Grammy Awards, 35 Stellar Awards, 12 Dove Awards, five NAACP Awards, one American Music Award, two BET Awards, and one Soul Train Music Award. He is also the host and coexecutive producer of BET’s Sunday’s Best. Congrats Kirk!!!!!

Le’Andria Johnson

Sunday’s Best Winner Le’Andria Johnson revealed to a packed house in Philly that she’s pregnant, but not married! With the stage lit, band and singers in place, she opened up her set with Byron Cage’s “I Will Bless the Lord’, then went into VaShawn Mitchell’s “My Worship is For Real.” Her song delivery became very testimonial and transparent, as she sang, “I messed up but God didn’t forget about me.” She apologized to all her fans that she may have disappointed and said, “I’m sorry I made a mistake and fell, single women if you can . . . wait . . . wait on God . . . wait.” The church was filled with praise and emotions. This is the first time JJ has been at Number 1, which of course is the highest placement, and the best sales week tracking for him and the group. For the past ten years JJ Hairston & Youthful Praise has been delivering great music and it’s about time the rest of the music world recognized it! I’ve been a consistent fan since their start, they deliver great music, album after album, you’re guaranteed some great singles. Not only is their music revelatory, church choir and praise team friendly, but their spirit is great, the delivery is sincere, compelling, and encouraging. Their messages are simplistic yet diverse enough to minister to anyone at any place they may be in their life. The “After This” album has something for eveyone! The single “After This” features Bishop Eric McDaniels, other featured artists on the album include Bishop Hezekiah Walker, Tye Tribbett, James Fortune, Pastor John P Kee, and LaShun Pace. While I LOVE THE ALBUM, one of my favorite songs on the album titled “I Am,” is an amazing song and features my friend and brother Marc Britt (Jonathan Nelson & Purpose), JJ has an arsenal of gifted and anointed singers, including but not limited to David McClure (cousin of Sunday’s Best finalist,

an amazing baby boy, and I too was an unwed single mother in church and having to cope with the fact that I let God down as well as my family. Having to deal with the judgment and negativity of “church people” it’s a huge pill to swallow, but God is a restorer, and while we all have to be accountable for our fall, the church should be the place where restoration, healing, and love should abide for the fallen. That’s what the church is there for; many babies are terminated because of judgement and embarrassment from the church, what’s worst? We gotta stop judging and restore and let God deal with the accountability and consequences as He sees fit. I totally appreciate and respect Le’Andria’s transparency and I will be praying for complete restoration for her, her career, and for the delivery of a healthy baby.

O

Stylish Moms

Your casual wardrobe doesn’t need to be frumpy. If you are constantly wearing oversized, tattered T-shirts, you will start to feel negative about your appearance. Turn in your big T-shirts for terrific tunics. To look good, you need to feel good. With all the pressures of daily life, it’s important that we all take a little time out every once in a while for some pampering. Tunics skim the body and flatter your figure with their long silhouette. You can find tunics in short and long sleeves to substitute for both baggy T-shirts and sweatshirts. Choose tunics in pretty colors with embellishments such as ribbons, scalloping and lace trim. You can wear a tunic over a pair of jeans or shorts for everyday wear. If you need to get dressed up, you can belt a tunic over a pair of slacks or pencil skirt. 26    April 2012 | Grace&Glory

ftentimes moms spend so

themselves. If your busy schedule has you feeling "blah," perk up yourself and your wardrobe with these fabulous fashion tips. Just because you work at home taking care of your kids doesn't mean you can't look good too. Sure, you aren't wearing suits to work everyday but it's possible to be a casual yet stylish mom.

Simple Shoes Instead of beat up tennis shoes and rubber flip flops, select comfortable, cute shoes. Substitute skimmers for your sneakers. Canvas skimmers come in a lot of fabulous colors and prints, from florals to plaids. They are inexpensive, comfy and can be worn with just about anything. Rubber flip flops aren’t attractive on anyone. Therefore, unless you are headed to the beach or a public shower, put on sandals instead. Slip-on slide sandals in glossy patent leather are a fabulous choice. Choose flat or low heeled sandals that are both practical and fashionable. For winter, buy one good pair of suede or leather ankle boots that you love. Just make sure the heel is not too high. You need to be able to move quickly to chase the kids around.

Beautiful hair

Easy natural makeup

You don’t need to spend hours primping to have a beautiful head of hair. If you are going gray, dye your roots every 6-8 weeks to keep your hair looking its best. If you are always in a hurry, don’t skip the conditioner. Instead buy a two-in-one product to keep your hair hydrated and healthy. In the mornings, brush out your hair and pull it into a ponytail or twist. Get a good haircut that requires as little maintenance as possible. On those bad hair days, don’t leave the house with your hair sticking out every which way. Instead, slick it back with pomade or gel and add a headband. If all else fails, have a couple cute hats on hand - one casual and one more formal. No one needs to know your hair isn’t cooperating.

If you spend most of the time at home with your kids or outdoors doing family activities, you probably don’t wear a lot of makeup. If you want to even out your complexion, use a moisturizer with SPF and anti-aging ingredients; it will protect your skin. Add lip gloss and a quick coat of mascara to look and feel beautiful.

5

No matter how busy you are with your family, it’s important to take a little “me” time every week. Have someone else watch your kids, even just for an hour. Take a bubble bath and read a good book or magazine or put your feet up and watch TV. Give yourself a home facial or manicure... or better yet, take a quick trip to the salon.

Secrets of Best Dressed Moms

Ditch The Sweats

Few moms would deny that motherhood is truly the best job on earth. The most fashionable? Not so much. Still, plenty of moms manage to pull themselves together enough to look not just presentable, but downright chic. Busy moms know how easy it is to pull on a comfy sweat suit, but that habit can lead to a fashion dead-end. Apply these style secrets to your wardrobe to elevate your fashion status from drab to best-dressed.

1. Find inspiration

Save time creating your wardrobe by taking cues from magazines, street style or even a fashionable friend. Candice, a Florida mom, suggests “mixing a great piece from a higherend store with a piece from a discount store. Hit the sales armed with some of your favorite looks from magazine or online stores. You can totally recreate the look or focus on a few pieces to update your closet.”

2. Support and smooth

“Me” time

Best-dressed moms know that a fabulous outfit begins with undergarments. Panty lines and unsupported breasts can completely deter from your stellar wardrobe. Your panty selection is especially important when you’re wearing fitted skirts or pants without back pockets. Choose a pair that smoothes, rather than draws attention to, the tush. Likewise, Sara, a California mom, says the right bra contributes to an outfit’s overall look. “You really start to notice how important a good bra is after having kids,” she says. A professional bra fitting, available at most lingerie and department stores, is a great way to find the perfect fit.

3. Befriend a tailor

Moms know that between pregnancies, varied eating habits and crazy schedules, staying the same size can be hard. Furthermore, moms sometimes don’t have the time to find the absolute perfect fit when they shop. Rather than buy new clothes every time the scale moves or ditch a great dress because it doesn’t fit quite right, get yourself to a tailor. Jinjer, a mom of three from Colorado, says, “Don’t be afraid to get your clothes altered. It is worth an extra $20 if you find a pair of pants that fit perfectly except in one place. Fix it and love them forever.”

4. Accessories are key

There's nothing wrong with keeping a few go-to items within arm's reach, but shake it up with varying accessories. Ines, a mom from Kentucky, says, "It's key to know when to be comfortable and when to step it up. Even if I'm wearing ripped jeans, I feel 'put together’ with the right accessories. A great handbag, chic sunglasses, a scarf or earrings can really transform an outfit and make you look like you put forth some effort.”

5. Find a balance

A mom's lifestyle demands comfort, but that doesn't mean frumpy sweats. Shaleen, a mom of two from Colorado, admits that her style sense has changed drastically since she became a mother. "Even though comfort takes precedence, I make a point of adding feminine elements,” she says. "That could be a pair of statement earrings or chunky bracelets. I've always had a bit of a Bohemian style, so I remind myself to let that come through in my outfits, especially when I find myself dressing like my husband.” www.gracenglorymagazine.org  27

Remains of the city of Ephesus

It’s Wednesday morning and I am on a tour bus riding through the busy and packed streets of Athens, Greece. I am one of 18 people who traveled in April to Greece and Turkey as part of a study tour of the cities of St. Paul. Dr. Michael Gorman, Dean of the Ecumenical Institute of Theology (Saint Mary's Seminary and University) is leading the group. This is my first opportunity to connect the words from the Bible to actual important sites. We settle in our hotel and anxiously look forward to tomorrow when we will visit Corinth, one of the cities Paul sought to evangelize. He set up shop as a tentmaker alongside friends Priscilla and Aquila as they attempted to win souls for Jesus Christ. We took time to share Holy Communion at the site referencing Paul's Remains of the city writings in 1Corinthians 11:23-32. Scholars say of Ephesus Paul stayed in Corinth for 18 months before leaving for Asia Minor (modern day Turkey). Still in Greece, the next day our tour group made its way to the top of the Acropolis to view several major structures, including the Parthenon, which was built to honor Greek gods. I admire Paul for preaching the Gospel of Jesus Christ in this city, in spite of its Dr. Tooten rejection of him and his message, and in light of the people's affection for their gods. As we proceed down the steps from the Acropolis, we head to Mars Hill overlooking (Acts 17:22-31). It’s one of the places where Paul is believed to have debated leaders of Athens at the tomb of the unknown God. the streets of On Thursday, we pack our bags for Turkey to visit more of the cities of Paul. We arrive in Istanbul, Turkey then make our way to Izmir. The next day Ephesus our tour led us to the city of Ephesus, a city Paul visited once departing from Greece. Archaeologists have been successful in excavating major sections of Ephesus. There are still visible remnants of this important New Testament city. On this day, we visit an area overlooking Ephesus believed to be the home Dr. Tim Tooten, Sr. is the Pastor and of Mary, the mother of Jesus. Some scholars speculate she had a home here. Quite a few tourists are of the same belief and flood the site in which a chapel sits atop the site dedicated founder of Harvest Christian Ministries in Baltimore County, Maryland to Mary. We head down the mountain and into the City of Ephesus. We are also a short distance from the Isle of Patmos where John wrote the book of Revelation. Ephesus was one of the seven churches in Asia Minor in which John wrote letters. Our tour guide points out other significant areas of Ephesus which helped to shape the culture of that day. I joined a steady flow of people who walked the streets of Ephesus. On this day, they include the Presidents of Nigeria, Albania and Macedonia. We concluded our time in Ephesus with Bible study on the seats of one of the city’s major theaters. At one time, it used to accommodate 24 thousand people. We have seven more days left on this tour, but this pilgrimage has already opened my eyes to the many historical sites I had only read about in the pages of my Bible. www.gracenglorymagazine.org  29 www.gracenglorymagazine.org  29

bookshelf

Book Shelf The Five Love Languages By Gary Chapman I was first introduced to this month’s pick by a woman who, in my opinion, embodies the content of the book. This review of The Five Love Languages is dedicated to my mother, Bettie Jones. My mother has been an example of what The Five Love Languages teaches you; to love a person the way that they want and need to be loved versus the way that you want to love them. She has taught me how to love beyond feelings and emotions and what is in front of me, but to love from my heart to their heart with purity. These are the principles that The Five Love Languages shares with the reader. Although the cover of the book says, “How to express heartfelt commitment to your mate”, this book contains truths on how to love anyone. Imagine trying to hold a conversation with someone who only speaks French and you only speak English. It is a frustrating place that you will find yourself in with the breakdown in communication. That’s how frustrating it is when two people speak two different love languages. According to Gary Chapman, each individual has a particular way that they want to be loved that will fill their love tank. This book lays out the five ways to love and to be loved; words of affirmation, quality time, receiving gifts, acts of service, and physical touch. Rarely will you find someone who possesses all five love languages, but they do exist. Chapman explains that most people have a primary and a secondary language. The one thing I found most interesting as I read through the book was that people don’t miss-love on purpose. We love like we want to be loved not realizing that the other person may not view our “Acts

by Brandie Manigault

of Service” as love if their primary love language is “Physical Touch”. The Five Love Languages has helped me to be cognoscente, not only of other people’s love languages but also to be aware of my own. Chapman gave me the confidence to let others know how to love me so that there are no miscommunications and disappointments. Because this book is written with couples as its target audience, Chapman added a “Study Guide for Spouse and Group Discussion” in the back that can assist in keeping each other’s love tanks full and provide counselors with exercises that they can incorporate into their marriage counseling sessions. Being a mother, trying to be an

example of what my mother showed me, I was particularly excited when I saw that Chapman included a section dedicated to learning your child’s love language as well. He says that you can learn early on what a child’s primary language is based on their behavior, but until it becomes clear, Chapman encourages parents and guardians to pour on all five languages until the primary one emerges. Chapman also authored The 5 Love Languages Men’s Edition, The Five Love Languages Single’s Edition, The Five Love Languages for Children and The Five Love Languages for Teenagers. I recommend and suggest everyone get at least one of these books. We all have someone to love so let’s love them the right way. Happy Mother’s Day Ma!

I

n these uncertain times we can count on God for direction in every aspect of our lives. We own nothing. Everything belongs to God. We do not bring anything to the table. It all belongs to Him. Since God owns everything He expects us to manage all that He provides in accordance to His plan and purpose. This is biblical stewardship, and it touches every part of our lives. Whether it involves buying a home or a new car our decisions must be made with spiritual guidance. How we use our time and money matters to God. Time is money. We can waste time or manage our time. We can frivolously spend time on things of little value or we can invest our time wisely. The same can be said of the gifts and talents that God has given to each of us. As men and women of God we must always be mindful about how we use our resources. Stewardship is about faithfully developing and using our time, gifts, talents, and resources in God’s time and according to his desire and design. Through our relationship with Him we are to trust Him to guide us in making the right decisions in every part of our lives. As Christians, we are expected to present ourselves completely to God as His servants without any reservation. Unfortunately many of us struggle with this, because we want to handle our affairs and possessions as if they are our own. They all belong to God. Our lives are shaped by the decisions that we make. God requires that we include Him on all of our decisions, and that includes the purchases and investments we make. A wise steward sees things for their true value; treasures only those things that God declares to be important and willingly lets go of the things that God says do not matter. We often wrestle with the biblical principles of stewardship. You have heard the saying, “Money changes people.” Sometimes we get caught in its grip and we lose sight of God’s plans for us. We focus on getting ahead and chasing material possessions. We become a part of the rat race. Selfishness, greed, fear of failure, impatience, pettiness and confusion abound. Our spiritual principles and our core values are set aside. The quest for wealth outside of God’s plan and purpose creates struggles in our lives. When we begin to act outside of the principles of spiritual stewardship, and God’s will, the end result is usually a sense of helplessness and hopelessness.

The way we spend our money reflects our core value system. A review of your budget, checkbook or credit card statement will provide a snapshot of what is important in your life. If most of your money is spent on a car, house, jewelry or clothing, clearly those things are priorities in your life. Your spending habits define your values and what you value. Other factors also weigh in. With today’s rising energy, fuel, housing, and other living expenses, money seems to just come and go. It is in times like this that we sometimes feel like we have we have no control and tend to take matters into our own hands. No matter the circumstances - whether our decisions are based on wants or needs - we must rely on God’s provision for our lives. He has a plan. Be content and be anxious for nothing. Examine your relationship with God and your money. Are you trusting Him? Are you thankful for what you have? Are your needs being provided? What is enough? Your answers will most likely lead to the conclusion that God provides all your needs. Let’s be grateful for what God has given us and practice biblical stewardship by using our time, talents, gifts and resources wisely. Joy is found in our relationship with Christ through simplicity and generosity.

Think Like a MAN We have heard the story. It has been in the news for months. On February 26th Trayvon Martin was fatally shot by George Zimmerman in Sanford, Florida. Trayvon Martin was a 17-year-old African American male who was unarmed and George Zimmerman a 28-year-old biracial Hispanic American was on community watch. Zimmerman saw Martin walking inside the gated community where he was visiting his father and his father's fiancée. Zimmerman called the Sanford Police Department to report Martin's appearance and behavior as suspicious. The 911 operator told Zimmerman not to follow and they would handle and be on the scene shortly. What happens after seems to be clear in my eyes but we will wait to see what the judicial system determines. What we know for a fact is Zimmerman fatally shoots Martin in the chest at close range. As a male pastor and community leader I have a request for all the fathers, brothers, uncles, sons and nephews . . . I request that we change some things from our end. We know that the justice system can be unjust. We know that we are not part of the privileged society because the established norms did not develop from our culture. So let’s commit to educate one another about the value of life. Teach the

true value of family, “real” friends and the love of God. The profile would have to change and wearing a hoodie would not be associated with anything other than a piece of clothing. We can tell from Trayvon’s father that he taught these things to his son. It appears Trayvon is not only a victim of an unjust shooting but also the buffoonery of males who would commit crimes. Does this justify Zimmerman’s shooting of Trayvon, NO! . . . Keep wearing your hoodies but teach others about living their lives on purpose and not succumbing to the pressures of life by doing childish things. When I was a child, I talked like a child; I thought like a child, I reasoned like a child. When I became a man, I put childish ways behind me. (I Cor. 13:11). Let Trayvon be our cultural memorial of how we changed the system and ourselves! Think like a man! Pastors Gregory & Tonya Dennis Kingdom Worship Center

Fear is Not an Option How many times have we denied ourselves of something

because of fear? How many times did you wake up on the other side of regret? How many times have you wondered what coulda, shoulda, but you will never because you wouldn't try? So many times we gender ourselves from growth because we are afraid. God has not given us the spirit of fear. 2Timothy 1-7 Recently, I was confronted with a chance to experience something; I allowed my doubts, perceptions and ideology to discourage me. I was traveling down the road of despair because I was afraid to take a chance. I closed doors and ran in the opposite direction. ...but of power, and of love, and of sound mind.

I had to realize that I have nothing to fear because God has given us power to cope, a loving heart to embrace and a sound mind for parity of thought. The next time a challenge comes your way remember, FEAR IS NOT AN OPTION!! Until next time Stay Strong, Stay Focused and Stay Guided by God. nees can be one of the first things that go on athletes and others that use their knees extensively in their job. The causes of knee pain may differ but the effects are still the same. It can really hinder a person’s life. When knee pain starts, that’s the time most people start thinking about getting treatment. The truth is the best treatment for knee pain is knee exercises to prevent the knee pain and subsequent injury. Below we explore what could be causing knee pain and what exercise you should do to strengthen them. Ever wondered how much strain our knees take? They are the weight bearing points of your body. And yet without a thought they are subject to much battering in our daily lives. Knee strengthening exercises require consistent effort to keep the knees healthy and strong. Moderate knee exercises and a healthy diet play an important role in easing the stress on the knees and preventing knee pain. Knee exercises actually work the muscles and not the joints. Therefore, these exercises focus on strengthening the muscles so they can take the wear and tear. Most exercises for the knee muscles will result in stiffness. This is true especially when a person starts on a program for the first time. Irrespective of your previous lifestyle, if you focus on the right type of knee exercises, your knees will hurt less. They will also be better prepared to take in the shocks while walking or running. You need to keep in mind a few things for your knee exercises. Always consult a medical practitioner to get a professional assessment of your general knee problems and readiness to start the exercises. In case you have knee pain ask the doctor for suitable medication. Finish the scheduled dosage if you are taking any and then commence the knee exercises. Do not try to do too much within a short time. Remember muscles take longer to get back in shape and the key is intensity combined with consistency.

Benefits of Knee Strengthening Exercises

Knee exercises are great for everybody as everyone needs to strengthen their knee muscles. Here are the benefits of knee strengthening exercises: • Preventing knee pain. Prevention is the best treatment for knee pain. Weak muscles cannot absorb shock and support the body well.

• Increase flexibility and mobility. Doing exercise can greatly increase the strength of the muscles of the knees. This can help with athletes in their performance and regular people who want to move more freely. • Weak muscles are more prone to knee injuries. Prevent knee injuries by strengthening the knee muscles. For your knee exercises, always start with a warm up session of some aerobic activity. This improves blood circulation to the muscles. The two main groups of muscles for the knees are the hamstring and quadriceps. The hamstrings help in bending of the knees and the quadriceps with the straightening and movement of the knees. You can do the knee strengthening exercises anywhere and you don’t have to look for or buy complex equipment. A sturdy chair is all that is required. Repeat the exercises many times a day and each session can be 10 or 15 minutes long. If you experience knee pain, shorten the duration.

Here are some simple knee exercises. -Sit on a chair keeping the knees straight. The heels should touch the floor. Now tighten the thigh muscles and count to 10. Loosen the muscles and count to 3. Complete the set 10 times in each session. This works the quadriceps. -For the hamstrings, sit on a chair with heels on the floor. Without lifting the heels pull them back and count to 10. Release and count to 3. Repeat this ten times. -With practice, you can also add variety like leg lifts, dips, curls and

swings. Grip the back of a chair for support. Straighten any leg and swing it backwards as you tighten as best as you can. Come back to standing position and repeat with the other leg. -Walking backwards is also good for the hamstrings.

Here are some tips when doing the exercises: • Do some stretching before doing any kind of knee strengthening exercises. • Start slow and pace yourself when you exercise. Too much strain in your muscles can cause knee pain. The best thing to do is to start slowly and gradually add more time and intensity to your workout. • Give your muscles time to rest and heal. If you experience knee pain in the past, ask your doctor if it’s okay for you to exercise your knee. There might be some contraindications and precautions that you have to take. • Perform the correct knee strengthening exercises. Ask an expert to help you with your knee exercises. Make sure that you perform the exercises the correct way. Do not perform the knee strengthening exercises every day. You need to intersperse them with some stretching activity. Some pain in the knee is inevitable as you begin to exercise, but this is a sign of tearing of the muscles. As the muscles heal and you continue to perform knee exercises, they will get stronger. Knee pain is a serious problem and should be advised by a training professional. Knee strengthening exercises, when done correctly, can really change a person’s life and prevent pain. www.gracenglorymagazine.org  43 43 www.gracenglorymagazine.org

word of encouragement

Happy Mother’s Day An Open Letter to all Mothers of Missing Children Dear Mom: Happy Mother’s Day. I know that you miss me, I miss you too. I know what you are going to do right now. You are going to cry and hug me and hold me tight. All while you are thanking God silently for bringing me back to you. Thanking God that even though there were times when you didn’t know where I was that you were confident that He would bring me back. However, Mom, I want you to know that I am really not back as yet. I desire to come back, the very fiber of my being yearns to come home, but I am told that you can never come home again and that’s what keeps me away. I have tried and tried to find my way out of this maze so that I can come back home and allow you to love me and tell me everything is going to be okay, but I am not sure yet if I really can find my way out of this maze or if I really want to come out of this maze. Mom, I want you to know that it is true, that the world is cruel, it is true all the things that you told me, that Jesus is the Only Friend that sticks closer than a brother, because I watch my friends stab me in the back, yet I continue to stay with them, going places I know that I ought not to go, but because I want to be down with my friends I go. Yes, I remember that the prayer of the righteous availeth much and all those scriptures you taught me. They are still here, mom, but I have forced them to the back of my head. Yea, yea, I know what you are saying. In fact I can see you now – saying, “Lord this is your child, you have to fix it.” I can remember you quoting those scriptures. You were not always like that mom; you were not always a Christian. I remember when you partied, hung out, etc. You know what you did. Oh, no condemnation on my part to you. Didn’t mean to make it sound that way, I was just reflecting on who you were before you became who you now are. Mom you did train me up in the right way and you have to continue to believe what the Bible says in Proverbs 22:6, “Train a child in the way he should go, and when he is old he will not turn from it.” See, I remember the scripture, you have trained me well. I know the Word of God; I know that I have to return – to the Lord. However right now, I am telling myself that I am enjoying myself, I am having a great time, and the friends that are with me love me. I know it does not seem to you that they love me, but we are all doing the same or similar things so I have to believe they really do love me. You know the saying mom “birds of a feather flock together”, so we are all here flocking together. Lol. You know what mom, myself and two of my friends went out last week and got the same tattoo. I thought about you that time and remember what you said, “What is the reason that we all want to look like each other, why don’t I want to be different?” I am different mom, different from what you want me to be and do. You want me to fulfill God’s purpose for my life, you want me to live the life you said you know that God has ordained for me to live, but I don’t see it mom and I certainly don’t want to live that religious – always going to church life. I want to be

free, I want to be me. You know what I remember that old Sammy Davis song that you sang before you became super Christian, super saint. Here goes mom, “Whether I’m right or whether I’m wrong, whether I find a place in this world or never belong. I gotta be me, I’ve gotta be me. What else can I be but what I am. I want to live, not merely survive, and I won’t give up this dream of life that keeps me alive. I gotta be me, I gotta be me, the dream that I see makes me what I am. That far-away prize, a world of success is waiting for me if I heed the call. I won’t settle down, won’t settle for less. As long as there’s a chance that I can have it all. I’ll go it alone, that’s how it must be.” I can’t remember the rest of the song. I want that old mom back, so that I can justify why I am still in this maze. Okay, okay, I gotta run, my birds of a feather are calling for me. I still love you mom. I know that you want me to come home, I really want to come home, but my friends are laughing at me. They are saying they knew that I would run back home. I have to show them that I am grown. I have to act like I am strong. Oh God, don’t be mad at me, just continue to pray for me, I am really scared, pray, mom pray. I know that God answers your prayers. I remember you saying that there is a scripture that says, “You have not because you ask not”. Please mom, continue to pray, because I know that one day, suddenly, God is going to turn it around and it is going to work in your favor and you will see me running back into your arms, back to you and my Savior, Jesus Christ. It is going to happen mom. You are the one who told me that God is not a man that He should lie. Hold on to that scripture mom and before you know it, I will be there. Again, mom, continue to thank God for my safe return and one day you will look to the window and I will be coming home to stay. Hope you have the fatted calf prepared; because I sure am gonna want it when I come home. Sending all my love your way and again, Mom. Happy Mother’s Day. Your Child. I encourage each and every mother that is waiting on a child to come home or call home to know that God hears your prayers and sees your tears and will bring your child back home – whole. Prayer: Father, in the Matchless Name of Your Son Jesus, I thank You that the prayers of the righteous avail much and that You are not a man that You should lie and my child will be home – soon, and You have already made them whole. I pray this prayer in the Name of Jesus and cover it with the blood of the Lamb. Happy Mother’s Day from In Trust Ministries.
