Activities ROBOTICS

“

Even though it was only my first year ever taking robotics in school, I was able to participate in VEX robotics competitions both in and out of Thailand. My teammates and We had to design remote-controlled and automated robot that could perform a multitude of tasks: climb platforms, place disks on poles, launch balls at targets, and other maneuvers. It took months to perfect our design, but in the end, we were able to compete at TAS in Taiwan and reach the quarterfinals; we also competed at NIST in Bangkok and got to the semifinals. Although we were unable to win first place, it was a learning experience for all of us.

Activities THE HOWL

HO WL

The Howl is the school’s newspaper club that has existed for almost a decade. However, it has been more than just a club to me. Being an active member since my freshmen year all the way to my senior year has taught me many different skills ranging from writing, designing, to running a club. Being a club leader requires me to be a good role model for my fellow members such as being able to quickly resolve problems, thinking outside the box, and bringing the club together. Each year that I’ve been in The Howl, the quality of writing, quality of design, and viewership keeps on growing, which is absolutely astonishing.

Activities NATIONAL HONOR SOCIETY

The National Honor Society elevates a school’s commitment to the values of scholarship, service, leadership, and character. These four pillars have been associated with membership in the organization since its inception in 1921.

I was accepted into the school’s first ever chapter of the National Honor Society (NHS). From years 2017 to 2018, I held the position of the chapter’s secretary. This year, I was elected to become the president. Our goal as members of NHS is to be role models to the rest of the student body by following the four disciplines. So far, we’ve been able to raise money for Operation Smile, become mentors for younger students, and invite alumni students to give advice to current high-schoolers. As of this year, we are helping the counselors run a peer tutoring program, planning to invite alumni to come and present again, and collaborating with the newly constructed junior NHS.

Highlighted Projects COMPUTER CODING

As a final for computer coding class, we had to create a project by applying the skills we previously learned throughout the year combining with news skills learned from individual research. The result was my creating a simple video game where the objective is to solve basic puzzles and escape a building.

While studying HTML-5 and CSS-3, we had to create our own website from either Bootstrap or by scratch. The requirements of this project included creating a website that contained multiple pages, could fit in any screen, and was easy to navigate. Wanting this project to be exactly the way I wanted, I chose to use primarily my own images and own knowledge of design to create it.

Highlighted Projects

Although I am interested in studying engineering, my experience in art cannot be ignored. I have studied art since my freshmen year all to way to my junior year. In 2018-2019 I took AP Studio Art and achieved a score of 5. Another achievement was having my artwork displayed at River City Art Gallery, Bangkok as part of an exhibition. Art has shaped the way I think. It helps me extend my creativity and critical thinking skill. I believe other students studying in STEM fields should also expand their knowledge in fine arts to give them a better sense of imagination and improve the aesthetic values.
