January 25, 2014 Twenty-six years is a wonderful celebratory time in our day and age and community. You have seen many, many changes in Miami-Dade as well as Miami Gardens. You have experienced many changes in church as our entire nation has shifted gears in how we worship and serve the Lord. Not all of those changes have been bad, but many of them have not been good either. The question on the minds and hearts of many people is “How do we face the future?” That is a difficult question without any easy or simple answers. But we all know that we are to trust the Lord and keep our eyes on Him. When we fix our eyes on the world, then we never are satisfied. Politics do not satisfy. We may love to watch and play sports, but at the end they do not give contentment either. Even church does not satisfy. It is Jesus who can strengthen us, and give us determination for today as well as hope for tomorrow. Only Jesus can satisfy and fill us with the peace that passes all understanding. Congratulations Pastor Percy Ransom and the entire congregation of Cosmopolitan Baptist Church. Praise the Lord that we are partners together in ministry. We are on the same team as we encounter the darkness and share the Light of the world in Jesus. Even more than that, we are family; brothers and sisters in Christ. We know Who wins. We have read the Book. We can all agree with Joshua who said, “As for me and my house, we will serve the Lord.” May God richly bless you as we head into this new year. Amen.

The Pastor’s 26th Church Anniversary Message

THEME: “RE-TOOLING FOR OUR FUTURE” “Praise God from whom all blessings come;” we can celebrate another years journey of ministry. The journey has been filled with ups and downs, hills and valleys, but thank God we had more bright days than dark days. However, we dare not rest on our past accomplishments; because the enemies of the church has never taken a break or given any thought of slowing down. Several of the valley experiences last year: the passing of our oldest member Mrs. Elnora Bain, and the extended illness of Dec. Freddie Parker. Some of the upside experiences: more baptisms, outdoor youth Rally, transitioned financial operation from paper to electronic; and upgraded security protection.

While these and other accomplishments are worthy of mentioning we must not forget our first order of business should be based upon the text from which our theme is based; Luke 19:13 “Occupy until I come”. We must be busy working in the kingdom of God until he returns. If we are to be relevant in a society that is rapidly shifting; the Church must re-tool itself to address the many facets of the cultural shifts without compromising the word of God. May all we do ministering in our 26th year as in the pass, be blessed of the Lord; going into an unknown future led by the living Lord we know and trust.

Cosmopolitan Baptist Church History

In August 1979; in duly constituted church business meeting the Metropolitan Baptist Church, led by the late Rev. David A. Morgan voted to establish a church plant in the North Dade County area. Rev. Morgan recommended the new church plant be led by Min. Percy Ransom. He further recommended that the new work begin with a weekly home Bible study fellowship on Wednesday nights, and worship services be held on the 4th Sunday night of each month. The new work was elevated to Mission status in September of 1981; and weekly services began at the Cloverleaf Recreation Park. In 1982, the Mission was granted Chapel status by the mother Church and Min. Percy Ransom was ordained, called, and installed as Chapel Pastor. As the Chapel grew; it became necessary to begin looking for a more suitable location to facilitate the growth of the ministry. In January of 1983; under the divine inspiration of The Holy Spirit, The Miami Baptist Association donated the property on which the Church now stands. In February of 1984; in anticipation of building a permanent place of worship, the Chapel broke ground. God; who knows the end before the beginning inspired the New Way Fellowship Baptist Church to donate their existing 4300 Sq. Ft. sanctuary scheduled to be demolished to make way for their new sanctuary parking lot expansion. The donated building was moved and relocated to the present site; renovation of the building and property began immediately. The newly renovated building and grounds was dedicated January 1985; and the Chapel was constituted into a sovereign Church the 4th Saturday January 1988. In 1997 Pastor Ransom presented a 10 year plan and vision for the Ministry; thanks be to God one of the last goals was realized upon the completion of a newly constructed sanctuary in 2002. The Lord has been faithful in helping us fulfill the visions we have embraced. There is no doubt “Though the vision tarries, wait for it; because it will surely come, it will not tarry (Habak.2:3). The history of this church has been written by the hand of Him who is Lord of Lords, and King of Kings, Jesus Christ, our soon returning Savior.
