Pastor’s Greeting
It is my delight to welcome you to our 19th Annual Focus on Jesus Summit.
Whether you’re a member of our church family here at Pentecostal Tabernacle, visiting from another congregation, or a guest, we welcome you to this special time of spiritual renewal, worship, prayer, and edification through the word of God.
The time in which we live is plagued with wars, mass shootings, inflation, and increased mental health needs. We need to ensure that we are standing on the only foundation, which is Christ Jesus our Lord. This year’s summit theme, SURE FOUNDATION, serves to remind us to continue building on the foundation laid by the apostles and prophets. We must remain confident in the knowledge that Jesus Christ is our sure foundation.
We are not immune to the turmoil around us. However, I would like to encourage us to affirm our belief that Jesus Christ is our chief cornerstone (Ephesians 2:1922). Despite all that is happening around and to us, we have a hope in Him that should inspire our faith and dispel our fear. If we continue to build upon Christ, our Sure Foundation, we will be able to withstand the test of time. We are also reminded that the foundation of our God not only stands sure but that He knows those who are His (2 Timothy 2:18 – 20). We must be confident in this fact and strive to operate as victorious Christians in whatever state we find ourselves.
As a congregation, we have engaged in a time of intentional prayer and fasting prior to this Summit. Our desire is to see an outpouring of the Holy Spirit. It is my earnest prayer that over the next five days, the Holy Spirit will renew and revive us, bringing reassurance and hope.
On Christ the solid rock we stand, all other ground is sinking sand.

THE CHURCH’S ONE FOUNDATION
The Church’s one foundation is Jesus Christ, her Lord; she is his new creation by water and the Word. From heav’n he came and sought her to be his holy bride; with his own blood he bought her, and for her life he died.
Elect from ev’ry nation, yet one o’er all the earth; her charter of salvation: one Lord, one faith, one birth. One holy name she blesses, partakes one holy food, and to one hope she presses, with ev’ry grace endued.
The Church shall never perish. Her dear Lord to defend, to guide, sustain, and cherish, is with her to the end.
Tho’ there be those that hate her and strive to see her fail, against both foe and traitor she ever shall prevail.
Tho’ with a scornful wonder the world sees her oppressed, by schisms rent asunder, by heresies distressed, yet saints their watch are keeping; their cry goes up, “How long?” and soon the night of weeping shall be the morn of song.
‘Mid toil and tribulation and tumult of her war she waits the consummation of peace forevermore till with the vision glorious her longing eyes are blest, and the great Church victorious shall be the Church at rest.
Yet she on earth hath union With God the Holy One And mystic sweet communion With those whose rest is won; O happy ones and holy! Lord, give us grace that we, Like them the meek and lowly, On high may dwell with thee.
THEME SONG STANDING ON THE PROMISES
Standing on the promises of Christ, my King, Through eternal ages let his praises ring; Glory in the highest, I will shout and sing, Standing on the promises of God.
Chorus Standing, standing, Standing on the promises of God, my Savior; Standing, standing, I’m standing on the promises of God.
Standing on the promises that cannot fail. When the howling storms of doubt and fear assail, By the living Word of God I shall prevail, Standing on the promises of God.
Standing on the promises of Christ, the Lord, Bound to him eternally by love’s strong cord, Overcoming daily with the Spirit’s sword, Standing on the promises of God.
Standing on the promises I cannot fall, List’ning ev’ry moment to the Spirit’s call, Resting in my Savior as my all in all, Standing on the promises of God.

There are moments when we find ourselves in spaces where the ground beneath us seemingly begins to shift. In those moments we need to be able to affirm what we believe. This session is intended to be declarative with several absolutes highlighted:
1. A thorough understanding regarding the person of Jesus Christ - Matthew 16:16; 1 Corinthians 3:11
2. Jesus Christ is the Head of the ChurchPsalm 118:22; Colossians 1:17-18; Ephesians 1:21-22
3. We are built on the foundation of the Apostles, Prophets and Jesus Christ the Chief Cornerstone. Ephesians 2:19-22
Ephesians 2:19-22 Pastor Miguel Garrick WED • JUNE 22ND • 7:30PMWill my building (personal) survive the test of time? As fellow workers, will what we build stand the test of time?
As the Church, we are called to build; however, we often find ourselves building monuments that serve our own agenda rather than that of Christ.
1. What constructs and convictions have we formed that are not rooted in scripture?
2. What impact does our actions have on the different communities with which we interface?
3. Do our efforts advance the Kingdom?
4. What should we do to ensure we are building to last?
Prosperous and productive organizations in corporate America are utilizing Biblical principles in the leadership and management of their companies (whether they are aware they are Biblical principles or not). For example, servant leadership and steward leadership which both embody Jethro principles of leadership are core philosophies in many leadership programs in Business schools across North America. Meanwhile, many Apostolic churches and organizations increasingly encourage a “one-man” style leadership, contrary to scriptures.
In this session we will: 1. Explore some foundational principles of leadership in the Faith Community that we can learn from Moses and Jesus.
a. Godly Vision b. Team Building c. Proper Division of Labor d. Development, Motivation, and Empowerment e. Mentorship f. Stewardship of Resources
In this session we will:
2. Describe the roles and responsibilities of the fivefold ministry leadership.
a. How can we effectively develop and implement five-fold ministry leadership teams in our churches?
b. What inner qualities must leaders and team members possess to encourage teamwork?
3. Discuss the practical benefits of Biblical collaborative leadership philosophy to churches.
a. Less burnout for Senior Leaders and other Ministry workers
b. Personal development for members of the church community.
c. Collective development of the body (Ephesians 4:11-16)
d. Ongoing Ministry renewal (new personnel coming into leadership inclusive of successions, more rest, and physical and spiritual renewal for those in leadership).
STICK TO THE PLAN
The church is a melting pot of individuals with varying backgrounds. Though we are from different cultures and have different personalities, there can be unity of purpose based on our obedience to scripture. Individuality does not negate unity; there is unity in our diversity.
Considering we are a “Body fitly framed together” how do we:
1. Align ourselves to the plan of the Master Builder
2. Maintain alignment to build both ourselves and fellowman
3. Foster an environment that allow individuals to recognize their gifts and fulfill their purpose
AGENDA
It is God’s intention that we are thoroughly furnished in every aspect of our lives thus ensuring we are complete. As ambassadors, if we are to be effective light bearers, this should reflect in our various vocations. We should possess a rich character and be wise as we navigate our Christian walk ensuring that our identity is reflected in our activities in all aspects of our lives.
Panelists will share individual experiences in the following fields:
Ministry
Finance
Relationships
From the experiences of the panelists, attendees will be equipped with practical tools that will help them to navigate and be effective in life. The session will also explore what it means to be complete as we continue to build our lives as Christians.
PILLARS FOR GROWTH
The author of Acts highlighted three seemingly important principles which aided in the growth of the early church. Throughout scripture, much emphasis has been placed on these principles and they were clearly demonstrated in the local churches. If we are to grow as a Body, we must consistently ensure close adherence is paid to these principles - Doctrine, Fellowship, and Prayer.
Let us consider the following:
1. How can our churches ensure that we are teaching and preaching the “whole counsel of God” and not just limited sections of the Bible?
2. What are some practical ways that churches can intentionally facilitate fellowship opportunities for the saints?
3. What is the biblical approach to prayer both personally and corporately?
4. How do we ensure harmony within the body given our diverse backgrounds and unique approaches to fellowship and prayer?
The assurance that Jesus is our foundation should awaken our hope, incite our pursuit, and dictate our activities. This assurance should inspire faith and dispel fear.
1. How should we operate as victorious Christians in whatever capacity we find ourselves?
2. As victorious Christians, how do we navigate an ever-shifting world where moral constructs continue to be eroded?
3. Given our security in Christ, what should be our inner posture? What manner of people should we be intra-personally?
