H
ector was the second child of ten children for Mr. Charles and Mrs. Edna Brown. He was born January 26, 1930, and raised in Kingston, Jamaica. Hector his brothers, and sisters were raised by their loving parents who taught them to “always support each other.” He was the big brother known as the “protector and supporter” if anyone bothered his siblings. Hector was always available to provide guidance and was outspoken and clear about his opinion. But more importantly, Hector didn’t like it when people took advantage or bother anyone of his siblings, he would fight for them. Hector’s favorite pastime was joking around with those he was around. He also relished fishing, listening to music, and dancing; he was also an avid swimmer. In fact, as a young man, he loved music and enjoyed dancing so much he would dance the shoes off his partners. Hector graduated from Mico Preparatory School and the Mico University College in Kingston, Jamaica. Later, he became the supervisor at the Coffee Board Company before he departed from Jamaica. Hector migrated from Kingston, Jamaica in 1962 and lived in London, England for about 24 years. There, he was a city bus driver for London Transport. Since Hector had a love for music in his spare time, he used the sound system to play on Saturday nights at parties or for special occasions all over England. Then he migrated to Canada where he spent time with his family. Eventually, Hector migrated to America and resided in sunny Fort Lauderdale, Florida, where he partially retired. He was always available to assist his family and friends with deeds too numerous to write. He also knew how to 4

enjoy life by spending time with those he loved. He was a loving father, grandfather, brother, and uncle always available to assist with anything you needed. Hector Brown was a man that had the love and admiration of his friends, and his family loved and adored him. Hector passed away at the blessed age of 91 years old. He lived those days surrounded by the love and care of his children, grandchildren, and nephew. He was known as the “Great Protector”, loving, caring, joyful and generous to his family. He spent his life modeling how to live loving and kind to one another. And so, we say goodbye to our beloved Hector we do so with the words Matthew 25:23 “His lord said unto him, Well done, good and faithful servant; thou hast been faithful over a few things, I will make thee ruler over many things: enter thou into the joy of thy lord.” A Loving Father That man achieved – The ability to live well, laughed often and loved much who has gained the respect of intelligent men and the love of children who has filled his niche and accomplished though his ability to share who leaves the world better than he found it who has never lacked appreciation of earth’s loveliness or failed to express it who looked for the best in others and gave the best he had! Songs of Hope It is Well with My Soul
When peace like a river attendeth my way, when sorrows like sea billows roll; whatever my lot, thou hast taught me to say, “It is well, it is well with my soul.” Refrain It is well with my soul; It is well, it is well with my soul. Though Satan should buffet, Though trials should come, Let this blest assurance control:
The Lord is My Shepherd
That Christ has regarded my helpless estate, And has shed his own blood for my soul. Refrain My sin oh, the bliss of this glorious thought! My sin, not in part, but the whole, Is nailed to the cross, and I bear it no more; Praise the Lord, praise the Lord, O my soul! Refrain O Lord, haste the day when my faith shall be sight, The clouds be rolled back as a scroll; The trump shall resound and the Lord shall descend; Even so, it is well with my soul. Refrain
The Lord’s my Shepherd, I’ll not want; He makes me down to lie In pastures green; He leadeth me The quiet waters by.
My table Thou hast furnished me In presence of my foes; My head Thou dost with oil anoint, And my cup overflows.
My soul He doth restore again, And me to walk doth make Within the paths of righteousness, E’en for His own name’s sake.
Goodness and mercy all my life Shall surely follow me; And in God’s house forevermore, My dwelling place shall be.
Yea, though I walk in death’s dark vale, Yet will I fear no ill; For Thou art with me, and Thy rod And staff my comfort still. 6
