Hyacinth Walburga Robinson (nee Cargill) was born in Manchester, Jamaica on April 20, 1928. She was the only child of Rebecca Wright and the first of two for Josiah Cargill. She attended Woodlands School in the hills of Manchester. After completing school, she became engaged in various jobs and had her only child, Phyllis Abel (nee Crawford). In 1957, Hyacinth was recruited to Canada on a special project. On completion of this obligation, she received her landing card that gave her the opportunity to attend nursing school. Her nursing certification enabled her to work in pediatrics at the Queen Elizabeth hospital in Montreal until 1969 when she migrated to the United States.
Upon arrival in New York, Hyacinth obtained her Geriatric Nurse certification. She became a very well-known nurse at Workmen’s Circle MultiCare Center in the Bronx. She was most popularly known there as Robbie. She continued her dedicated nursing responsibilities at “Circle” until her retirement in 1998. Immediately upon retirement, Hyacinth moved to Miramar, Florida to be closer to her immediate family – her daughter Phyllis, beloved son-in-law Roland, and grandchildren. She was proud to be a part of the development of her great grandchildren from birth. Hyacinth immediately adapted to Florida. She became an active member of the Miramar Community Senior Center and an outstanding member of the Miramar United Methodist Church. Despite her age, arthritis, diabetes, and later kidney failure, she was actively involved with the Miramar United Methodist Women. It was not long before all knew her as “Grandma”. Throughout her life journey, Hyacinth was known by many names: Hyacinth, Sis, Robbie, Hya, Grandma, Great Grandma, and occasionally, Mrs. Robinson. Hyacinth leaves to cherish her memories: Phyllis & Roland Abel (daughter and son-in-law), Vincent Cargill (brother), grandchildren – Claris Buckley-Weston (deceased), Deon Abel-Reitzin & Richard Reitzin, Sean Abel, Liezette Abel-Ruffin, and Brin Abel; Great Grandchildren – Krystel Weston, Naomi Reitzin, Dario Ruffin, Dominic Ruffin, and Kai Abel and a host of loving relatives and friends. “Do not mourn for me; I am gone to occupy a better place. Be strong and to the Father’s will until someday we meet again”

God sent his son, they called him Jesus; He came to love, heal, and forgive; He lived and died to buy my pardon, An empty grave is there to prove my savior lives. Refrain Because he lives, I can face tomorrow; Because he lives, All fear is gone; Because i know he holds the future, And life is worth the living Just because he lives. 2. How sweet to hold a newborn baby, And feel the pride and joy he gives; But greater still the calm assurance, This child can face uncertain days because he lives. Refrain 3. And then one day I’ll cross the river; I’ll fight life’s final war with pain; And then as death gives way to victory, I’ll see the lights of glory and I’ll know he reigns. Witness to the Word: Pastor David Range Prayers of Commendation: Pastor David Range
Hymn: When we all get to Heaven 1. Sing the wondrous love of Jesus; sing his mercy and his grace. In the mansions bright and blessed he’ll prepare for us a place. Refrain: When we all get to heaven, what a day of rejoicing that will be! When we all see Jesus, we’ll sing and shout the victory! 2. While we walk the pilgrim pathway, clouds will overspread the sky; but when traveling days are over, not a shadow, not a sigh. Refrain 3. Let us then be true and faithful, trusting, serving every day; just one glimpse of him in glory will the toils of life repay. Refrain 4. Onward to the prize before us! Soon his beauty we’ll behold; soon the pearly gates will open; we shall tread the streets of gold. Refrain Benediction
