We thought of you today, But that’s nothing new. We thought about you yesterday, And days before that too. We think of you in silence We often speak your name. Now all we have are memories, And your picture in a frame. Your memory is our keepsake, With which we’ll never part. God has you in His keeping, We have you in our hearts. Not always eye to eye mama, But always heart to heart You’re a one in a million mama The first true love in each of our hearts. We miss you dearly!

Oh Lord, my God
If I walk in the pathway of duty, If I work till the close of the day, I shall see the great King in His beauty, When I’ve gone the last mile of the way.
And when I think that God, His Son not sparing Sent Him to die, I scarce can take it in That on the cross, my burden gladly bearing He bled and died to take away my sin
Here the dearest of ties we must sever, Tears of sorrow are seen every day; But no sickness, no sighing forever, When I’ve gone the last mile of the way.
When I’ve gone the last mile of the way, I will rest at the close of the day; And I know there are joys that await me, When I’ve gone the last mile of the way.
When I, in awesome wonder
If for Christ I proclaim the glad story, If I seek for His sheep gone astray, I am sure He will show me His glory, When I’ve gone the last mile of the way.
Chorus
And if here I have earnestly striven, And have tried all His will to obey, ’Twill enhance all the rapture of heaven, When I’ve gone the last mile of the way.
Consider all the worlds Thy hands have made I see the stars, I hear the rolling thunder Thy power throughout the universe displayed

Chorus
He that dwelleth in the secret place of the Most High, shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty. Psalm 91:1
Lurline Inesta Powell, “Miss Nesta”, was born to the late King Powell and Vera Bernard on January 3, 1937, in the district of Cocoa Walk, Clarendon. She was the third of three beautiful girls. Her sisters Rupee-Mae Smycle (Vie) and Aseneth Salmon (Essie), preceded her in death in 2018.
The courtship quickly blossomed into a whirlwind romance and soon, the young Lurline became a mom to their first child, a daughter they named Maxine. Their daughter was their pride and joy. Not only were they thrilled with their new baby girl but her presence caused them to realize that their lives transitioned from being young love birds to parents. Lurline and Gladstone enjoyed their role of being parents. Therefore, it wasn’t long before they welcomed their second child, a son they named Markland, and two years later, another son whom they named Linton (Busta). The family size now growing, Gladstone made the all-important decision to officially call Lurline his wife and on December 18, 1960, they were married.
Lurline attended the Woodhall Primary School. After leaving school, she ventured for work on the family’s farm alongside her mom and sisters. While working in the field, her grace and beauty caught the attention of a charming, dark and handsome young man, her Boaz, Gladstone Harris. He was there working as a masonry apprentice on a building next to the field. Gladstone was smitten by her elegance and poise. He decided to court her with high hopes of gaining favor with her parents and thus increase his chance of their approval for her hand in marriage.
6 Celebrating the Life of
Shortly after they got married, Lurline submitted her life to Christ. Gladstone quickly joined his wife by committing his life to serve Jesus Christ and to raise their children in the fear of God. They were both baptized and became members of the Church of God of Prophecy in Woodhall. Lurline grew in her love for Christ and found her passion for praying and singing. She became an avid prayer warrior who truly understood the power of prayer. She never missed an opportunity to attend prayer meetings, fasting services and was very excited to be a member of the church choir.
HERStory
As the years went on, they welcomed four additional children: Anneth, Alrick, Javeth and Mitsy. Lurline also took the responsibility of caring and nurturing three of her grandchildren: Charm & Oral from her
After the children were of school age, Lurline launched into entrepreneurship by going to the fish market to sell goods from her property. In return, she purchased fish to be sold in the neighborhood. In other words, she was the neighborhood fish lady. Lurline knew what it meant to save money. In the eyes of all her children, Lurline crafted the term “pinch a penny”. She reminded us and always encouraged us to do likewise.
7Lurline Harris
Sister Harris, as she was affectionately called, was well known by everyone in her community of Woodhall and many friendships were gained attending the churches in Miami. She always wore a beautiful smile but was also known for her no-nonsense stance especially when it came to her children, discipline, and having Lurlinerespect.
daughter Maxine and Oswin from her son Markland. These grandchildren grew up acknowledging Lurline as Mama #1. In her eyes they were all her babies. She loved them dearly and her love for her grandson Oral especially was no secret. Everyone knew that he was her CNN, CVM, FOX News, Jamintel, and every source of information for everyone’s misbehavior in and out the house.
It’s hard to say goodbye, but we know the good Lord wanted his angel home. Watch over the family and continue to live in our hearts. May your soul rest in peace mama, until we meet again.
lost her husband in 2007 whom she missed dearly. Being surrounded by her children helped her cope with him not being around. Over the past four years, Lurline’s health started to slowly decline from complications of dementia and other health issues. She often sang of “her home in heaven that’s waiting for her” and “how beautiful heaven must be”. She was ready to go and join her husband and mother knowing that her time was coming soon. Regardless of whatever the doctors were telling her, Lurline always kept herself and others in good spirits. During that time, she was cared for by her children and daughter-in-law Jennifer. On August 6, 2022, Lurline slipped away peacefully in the arms of her daughters Maxine, Mitsy and Lurline,Jennifer.
Mama, Miss Nesta, Sister Harris… will be sadly missed. She is mourned by her 7 children, 31 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, 3 great-great grandchildren, daughters-in-law, nieces, nephews, neighbor and close friend Gracie, best friend Ms. Valda Reid and many others who knew and loved her. “Life is not measured by accumulation but by outlay; Not by how much saved, but by how much expended; Not by distance traveled, but by road taken”.
Lurline was very proud of the fact that her four older children were living abroad. It became a dream of hers to one day travel and explore other parts of the world outside of her community and country. After all, her husband had traveled to a few islands and she was fascinated by the stories he shared with her. In 1990, she received the great news that the petition her son Linton (Busta) had submitted for her and her husband to migrate to the United States was approved. The couple relocated to Miami Gardens where they lived with their oldest child, Maxine. Their immediate desire was to find a church home where they could worship and serve. They attended Grace Church of the First Born for three years. They later relocated and started attending Pentecostal Tabernacle in Miami Gardens.

It is well with my soul
Pastor Elisa Craig
With my soul (with my soul) It is well, it is well with my soul
When we meet our blessed Savior in the skies
Though Satan should buffet, though trials should Letcome, this blest assurance control, That Christ has regarded my helpless estate, And hath shed His own blood for my soul
Chorus
It is well (it is well)
Oh what singing, oh what shouting
It Is Well With My Soul
OH WHAT SINGING (Heaven’s Jubilee) OF Praise &Hope
When with all that heavenly host, we begin to sing Singing in the Holy Ghost, how the heavens will ring Millions there will join the song, with them we shall be Praising Christ through ages long, heaven’s jubilee.
With my soul (with my soul) It is well, it is well with my soul
When peace like a river, attendeth my way, When sorrows like sea billows roll Whatever my lot, thou hast taught me to say It is well, it is well, with my soul
Seems that now I almost see, all the sainted dead Rising for that jubilee, that is just ahead In the twinkling of an eye, changed with them to be All the living saints to fly, to that jubilee.
Chorus

Chorus
It is well (it is well)
It is Withwellmy soul
It is well (it is well)
Some glad morning we shall see, Jesus in the air Coming after you and me, joy is ours to share What rejoicing there will be, when the saints shall rise Headed for that jubilee, yonder in the skies
Oh what singing, oh what shouting
On that happy morning when we all shall rise Oh what glory, Hallelujah
It is well, it is well with my soul
When we meet our blessed Savior in the skies
SONGS
With my soul (with my soul) It is well, it is well with my soul
On that happy morning when we all shall rise Oh what glory, Hallelujah
My sin, oh, the bliss of this glorious thought My sin, not in part but the whole, Is nailed to the cross, and I bear it no more, Praise the Lord, praise the Lord, oh my soul
14 Celebrating the Life of
We can shed tears now that she is gone Or we can smile because she has lived We can close our eyes and pray that she’ll come back Or we can open our eyes to all that she has left Our hearts can be empty because we see her no more Or we can be full of the love she shared We can turn our backs on tomorrow or live yesterday Or we can be happy for tomorrow because of yesterday. We can remember her and only that she is gone Or we can cherish her memory and let it live on We can cry and close our minds, be empty and turn our backs Or we can do what she would want - smile, open our eyes, love, and go on.

So grieve a while for me if you must Then let your grief be comforted by trust
When I am gone, release me, let me go I have so many things to see and do
You must not tie yourself to me with tears Be happy that we had so many precious years
It is only for a while that we must part So bless the memories within your heart
I won’t be far away – for life goes on And if you need me, call and I will come
I thank you for the love you each have shown But now it is time to travel on alone
I gave you my love - but you can only guess How much you gave to me in happiness
Though you can’t see or touch me, I’ll be near And if you listen with your heart, you’ll hear… My love around you soft and clear
TO THOSE I LOVE AND THOSE WHO LOVE ME
And when you must come this way alone I’ll greet you with my smile and “WELCOME YOU HOME”
