Psalm 23

Hymn When We All Get To Heaven Sing the wondrous love of Jesus, Sing His mercy and His grace; In the mansions bright and blessed He’ll prepare for us a place.

Let us then be true and faithful, Trusting, serving every day; Just one glimpse of Him in glory Will the toils of life repay.

Refrain: When we all get to heaven, What a day of rejoicing that will be! When we all see Jesus, We’ll sing and shout the victory!

Onward to the prize before us! Soon His beauty we’ll behold; Soon the pearly gates will open; We shall tread the streets of gold.

While we walk the pilgrim pathway, Clouds will overspread the sky; But when trav’ling days are over, Not a shadow, not a sigh.

Eulogy/Life Tribute Hymn

All Hail the Power of Jesus Name

All hail the pow’r of Jesus’ Name! Let angels prostrate fall; Bring forth the royal diadem, And crown Him Lord of all! Ye chosen seed of Israel’s race, Ye ransomed from the fall, Hail Him Who saves you by His grace, And crown Him Lord of all! Let every kindred, every tribe, On this terrestrial ball, To Him all majesty ascribe, And crown Him Lord of all! Oh, that with yonder sacred throng We at His feet may fall! We’ll join the everlasting song, And crown Him Lord of all!

Eulogy

arjorie Eubarbara Champagnie was born in Kingston, Jamaica on November 16, 1933 to Caleb Champagnie. Her mother died when she was a young child. She grew up in a large home with an extended family. Her formative years were shaped by the traditions and values of aunts and uncles. From an early age, Marjorie was persistent, very determined and held a spicy disposition. As she blossomed into a young woman, she was known for being bold with the ability to provide a quick response to any situation.

Marjorie became involved with a locomotive operator, Jacob Walker. Their relationship produced four robust and vibrant children: Valerie, George, Steve, and Vivian. Her extended family continued to provide needed support in raising the children. In time her love for children produced a fifth child, Michael. She worked as a skilled seamstress in the thriving bustle of Jamaica’s garment industry. Marjorie was instrumental in the construction of men’s uniforms and casual clothing. Her dedication for her work eventually earned her the position of supervisor in the factory where she worked. Her astuteness within the industry molded her to fulfil her dream of owning her own clothing business in Jamaica. Although not yet a Christian, she developed a keen sense of the spiritual realm and presence of our Creator. She would speak about her dreams and visions to her family. They did not take her seriously, but thought it was because she ate too much. However, deep down she knew there was more to her than people understood. One day her path crossed with the tall, dark, and handsome Barrington Blackwood. Barrington was smooth and sophisticated. He worked as a lead pressman in a local print - shop. Marjorie’s beauty, charm and wit enamored and captivated him. He lovingly took her as his bride. Their union would later produce a son—Conrad. Without a doubt the greatest and most enduring love, Marjorie experienced was finding salvation in Jesus Christ, after a sermon preached at Rehoboth Apostolic in Jamaica. From the beginning, she was diligent in her relationship with Christ and relied on Him for everything. In this way,

she set a sterling example for her children to follow. Among her brethren, she was fondly called Mother Blackwood – because she was just that – a mother to all she met. One could not know her without realizing she had the call of an intercessor and prayer warrior on her life. In the early 1980s, Marjorie relocated to Miami, FL to live with her son, Steve. She became a member of Venetian Acres Apostolic church under the pastor-ship of Joseph A. Dean. She possessed a genuine hunger and thirst for things pertaining to the kingdom and simply could not get enough of the Word. She had a daily regimen comprised of prayer for the country, the spread of the gospel, family, friends, and anything else the Lord laid on her heart. One of the most profound demonstration of God’s hand in her life came at the near death, of her youngest child, Conrad. The church group had an outing at Haulover Beach, Miami. It is doubtful that anyone could forget the scream as Marjorie viewed the lifeless body of her child along the shore. It was at that moment, she became convinced that God specializes in the impossible. She stopped her crying and immediately began to proclaim life and rebuke the Spirit of death. Calls were placed to emergency services but Marjorie remained insistent that her child would live. The pastor, and saints joined her…moments later, a loud sneeze came from the body. Conrad turned to look up at her and the surrounding crowd. Leaping for joy she shouted thanks to God who had heard her cry and answered her prayers. Mother Blackwood became known for her great faith and reliance on God’s promises. She encouraged her brethren to utilize the words written in the Bible to unlock kingdom treasures. She was unashamed of the gospel and unapologetic about sharing the message of salvation. It is her enduring faith that paved the way for her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Even as her son Michael cared for her in her final days, Marjorie would tell him that the Lord still had work for her to do. How true her words that now in death, her life has truly left a legacy that won’t be forgotten. Today, it is with great joy that we celebrate the life of a woman known for prayer and sincere concern for her fellowman. We give thanks because we know that she is resting happily in glory with an incorruptible crown. Marjorie, you have fought a good fight and have kept the faith. We honor and salute you.
