The Lord’s Prayer Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come, thy will be done in earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread And forgive us our trespasses, As we forgive them that trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation, But deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom, The power, and the glory, For ever and ever. Amen.

Our Shining Star Our lives were changed immeasurably on November 19th, 2013, when Jenna and Rene were presented with the blessed gift of Mary Elizabeth. From the day of her birth, Mary reminded us all that “tiny” and “mighty” coexist. As petite as Mary was, she was every bit as strong. She had a fierce grip on anything, but most of all she grabbed the heart of all who met her. Her infectious smile brought abundant light and joy wherever she went. She delighted in climbing out of her crib at a very young age with an expression of mischief and triumph dancing across her face. An adventurous little girl, there was not a slide or a climbing wall that was too big for Mary to conquer. People would watch with wonder as she scrambled up over and over again with greater ease each time. It was a joy to see that smile as she victoriously declared “I did it!” Mary loved evening walks with her family as Daddy and Mommy pointed out the moon and the stars to the kids. She delighted in family celebrations; sashaying in her pretty dresses all the time keeping up with the bigger cousins and friends. She loved playing trains with her brother Ryen, who pretty quickly got used to sharing the track with her. She was learning to color with crayons and chalk and loved reading favorite story books and watching The Little Mermaid and Frozen. Those were the only times she would sit still for more than a minute. We will forever see our little Mary in her Little Lamb costume, trick or treating with Ryen the Dalmatian. Mary’s joy at Jenna and Rene’s wedding, non-stop whirling across the dance floor for hours, will be with us forever. She was pure energy personified in a puff of peacock blue! Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star Mary, forever shine your light of love upon us. We love you.

Rene - Daddy Wanting another boy, I was initially disappointed when we found out that we were expecting a girl. However, from the moment that Mary was born, I found myself overwhelmed with love for her - she had me wrapped around her little finger. When she didn’t want to go to sleep at night, she would always call me because she knew I was likely to give in. When I came home from work each day, she would dance around and run to me with a big smile on her face. Oh that smile!

Jenna - Mommy I cried for joy when the ultrasound tech said “It’s going to be a girl!” Mary loved to dance and she would throw herself back in my arms to be dipped - over and over, again and again. She was the first on the dancefloor at our wedding and she was tireless, trying to be the last one on the dancefloor too. She was wildly adventurous and daring, whether at a park, at the beach, or on a special trip - like to the Gold Coast Railroad. Ryen was Mary’s hero and no matter where he went, she would call out his name until she could make eye contact. Mary was always very generous with her hugs and kisses for Mommy and could make every day bright. I will miss my “mighty little chicken.”

I am big brother Ryen – her hero

I loved playing trains with my sister… I loved going to the park with her… I will miss going to Barnes and Noble together… And don’t forget - I taught her to read.

Memories of love and laughter‌

‌will never die

Maria Molina - Paternal Grandmother I will miss Mary Elizabeth playing in my backyard with all the family. We were already looking forward to her Sweet 16. Now, she is in a better place where there is peace, next to God and the Virgin Mary, and they will take care of her. I made Mary Elizabeth’s last dress with all my heart. Rene always planned to bring her to me to learn to cook and make tortillas. Thank you God for letting us borrow Mary Elizabeth.

Gonzalo Velasquez - Paternal Grandfather Mary Elizabeth, you were my granddaughter with the mischievous eyes. I love you. The day your dad brought you to me for the first time, I thought you were so beautiful. My heart was beating so hard with happiness. Sweetest Mary Elizabeth, I will always see your smile and hear you laughing and playing with your brother and cousins. You will always be our precious Mary Elizabeth. Thank you God for the time you let us have with her. She was the smallest in our family but yet such a blessing.

Carl Zalaznik - Maternal Grandfather Growing up with all boys, it has been the happy highlight of my life to have a little granddaughter. I was terrified to “babysit” Mary the first couple of times, even for very short periods. However, that happy little Mary Elizabeth was a joy, always so easy to laugh and hug. I will miss her incredibly.

Mary Z - Maternal Grandmother From the moment that Mary was born, she was to me “joy” personified. She was always smiling then laughing. Mary brought happiness to life in every moment. I will forever picture her spinning around the dance floor - a little angel in a puff of blue at Jenna and Rene’s wedding. Her smile was contagious and full of love. She will forever be in my heart and with me always!

Little Star

By Annette Taylor-Spence Little star with your smile so wide For two and a half years you were by our side Words cannot express the joy we felt… Just know in your presence our hearts did melt You made us happy…taught us how to love A precious gift from heaven above Time slipped away…the moment too brief Now as great as our love so is our grief You are still our “Twinkle Twinkle Little Star” But we do not wonder where you are Back to heaven is where you have flown Goodbye Little Lamb - you were only on loan The LORD will give strength unto his people; the LORD will bless his people with peace. Psalm 29:11

Acknowledgments “Thank You seems inadequate to express all the gratitude that flows from our hearts. Each of you has reached out and touched us in a personal and special way that has helped us through this very difficult journey. We have felt your love in very tangible ways. You have been the hands of God in acts of kindness, the heart of God showing compassion, the feet of God in visitation, and the love of God in your prayers and support. We appreciate you for all that you have done to support our family. Please keep us in your prayers.
