Amazing Grace

Amazing Grace will always be my song of praise for it was grace that brought my liberty, I’ll never know just why Christ came to love me so He looked beyond my thoughts and saw my needs Chorus: And I shall forever lift my hands to Calvary to view the cross where Jesus died for me, oooh how marvellous the grace that caught my falling soul he looked beyond my thoughts and saw my needs Amazing Grace will always be my song of praise for it was grace that brought my liberty, I’ll never know just why Christ came to love me so He looked beyond my thoughts and saw my needs Repeat Chorus

Obituary

Winsome Maureen Smith February 7, 1961- September 15, 2011

Winsome Maureen Smith was born on February 7, 1961 in Kingston, Jamaica. Winsome was a beautiful and happy baby born to Norma and Vincent (Vinnie). She had beautiful long curly hair and was the favorite of all the neighborhood kids with the adults. She was so loved by the neighbors in our community that the next door neighbor “Mammie” would always fix her a plate when she makes dinner for her family. Winsome attended Seaward Primary School and Merl Grove High School in Kingston, Jamaica. In September 1981 Winsome migrated with her family members to Miami, Fl. Winsome enjoyed learning and attending schools. She attended Miami Dade College and acquired a Certificate in Childcare and later a Security Officer Certification. Winsome loved to be gainfully employed and worked in the cafeteria at West Little River Elementary and Crestview Elementary School. She loved working with children and was the beloved and favorite aunt of all her nieces, nephews, and the other kids that she cared for. Winsome was a giver. She gave to everyone. No gift was too great or too small. She gave to almost all the charities that called; she gave to Christian TV, but most of all she believed in tithing. She loved fruits. She was the fastest orange peeler and eater we know. What can we say about her love for guinep or Spanish limes?

Obituary Cont’d Not only was Winsome a giver of gifts but she was a praying woman. She prayed for everyone she meets and her prayers were never about her wants or wishes but about others. That was very evident during her brief illness. One day while she was in the hospital and was being wheeled out for a medical test she turned to one of her sister-laws and said “I will be praying for you.” We all laughed. She always made us laugh. She loved to read the Bible and read through it a number of times. Sister Winnie, as she is lovingly called by her siblings had a great memory. She remembered stories about our childhood, she remembered poems and Bible verses we learned in school and Sunday School and loved to repeat them. She had a gift for caring for others and lovingly helped to take care of her grandmother for many years. She will be greatly missed by her son: Nicolas (Katiana); daughter: Unique; Mother: Norma, Father: Vincent; Step-father: Douglas; Step-mother: Mavis; siblings: Trevor (Blossom), Lavern (Recaldo), Marcia, Carlton (Della), Gary (Teresa), Omar (Meleisa), and Michele (in England); nieces: Sakinah, Keshia, Briana, Shannon (in England); nephew: Phillip; aunts, uncles, cousins, in-laws, other relatives, and friends.

Winsome’s Favorites Psalm 23 1 The LORD is my shepherd; I shall not want. 2 He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: he leadeth me beside the still waters. 3 He restoreth my soul: he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name’s sake. 4 Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me. 5 Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies: thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over. 6 Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the LORD for ever.

Prayer of Saint Francis of Assisi Lord, make me an instrument of your peace. Where there is hatred, let me sow love; where there is injury, pardon; where there is doubt, faith; where there is despair, hope; where there is darkness, light; and where there is sadness, joy. O Divine Master, grant that I may not so much seek to be consoled as to console; to be understood as to understand; to be loved as to love. For it is in giving that we receive; it is in pardoning that we are pardoned; and it is in dying that we are born to eternal life. Amen

Poem: Augustus Was a Chubby Lad Augustus was a chubby lad Augustus was a chubby lad; Fat, ruddy cheeks Augustus had; And everybody saw with joy The plump and hearty, healthy boy, He ate and drank as he was told And never let his soup get cold.

But one day, one cold winter’s day He screamed out-‘Take the soup away: Oh, take the nasty soup away! I won’t have any soup today.’ Next day begins his tale of woes, Quite lank and lean Augustus grows, Yet though he feels so weak and ill, The naughty fellow cries out still‘Not any soup for me I say: Oh, take the nasty soup away! I won’t have any soup today.’ The third day comes; oh’ what a sin! To make himself so pale and thin. Yet, when the soup is put on table, He screams as loud as he is able,‘Not any soup for me, I say: Oh take the nasty soup away! I won’t have any soup to-day.’ Look at him, now the fourth’s day’s come! He scarcely weighs a sugar-plum; He’s like a little bit of thread And on the fifth day he was dead!

Desiderata by Ehrmann Go placidly amid the noise and haste, and remember what peace there may be in silence. As far as possible without surrender be on good terms with all persons. Speak your truth quietly and clearly; and listen to others, even the dull and the ignorant; they too have their story. Avoid loud and aggressive persons, they are vexations to the spirit. If you compare yourself with others, you may become vain or bitter; for always there will be greater and lesser persons than yourself. Enjoy your achievements as well as your plans. Keep interested in your own career, however humble; it is a real possession in the changing fortunes of time. Exercise caution in your business affairs; for the world is full of trickery. But let this not blind you to what virtue there is; many persons strive for high ideals; and everywhere life is full of heroism. Be yourself. Especially, do not feign affection. Neither be cynical about love; for in the face of all aridity and disenchantment it is as perennial as the grass. Take kindly the counsel of the years, gracefully surrendering the things of youth. Nurture strength of spirit to shield you in sudden misfortune. But do not distress yourself with dark imaginings. Many fears are born of fatigue and loneliness. Beyond a wholesome discipline, be gentle with yourself. You are a child of the universe, no less than the trees and the stars; you have a right to be here. And whether or not it is clear to you, no doubt the universe is unfolding as it should. Therefore be at peace with God, whatever you conceive Him to be, and whatever your labors and aspirations, in the noisy confusion of life keep peace with your soul. With all its sham, drudgery, and broken dreams, it is still a beautiful world. Be cheerful. Strive to be happy.

Precious Memories

Graveside Songs When The Roll Is Called Up Yonder 1. When the trumpet of the Lord shall sound, and time shall be no more, And the morning breaks, eternal, bright and fair; When the saved of earth shall gather over on the other shore, And the roll is called up yonder, I’ll be there. Refrain: When the roll is called up yonder, When the roll is called up yonder, When the roll is called up yonder, When the roll is called up yonder, I’ll be there.

He who knows he who knows not, and knows not that he knows not, is a fool, shun him; He who knows not, and knows that he knows not, is a child, teach him. He who knows, and knows not that he knows, is asleep, wake him. He who knows, and knows that he knows, is wise, follow him.

2. On that bright and cloudless morning when the dead in Christ shall rise, And the glory of His resurrection share; When His chosen ones shall gather to their home beyond the skies, And the roll is called up yonder, I’ll be there. 3. Let us labor for the Master from the dawn till setting sun, Let us talk of all His wondrous love and care; Then when all of life is over, and our work on earth is done, And the roll is called up yonder, I’ll be there.

When We All Get To Heaven

Oh I Want To See Him

1. Sing the wondrous love of Jesus, Sing His mercy and His grace; In the mansions bright and blessed He’ll prepare for us a place. Refrain: When we all get to heaven, What a day of rejoicing that will be! When we all see Jesus, We’ll sing and shout the victory! 2. While we walk the pilgrim pathway, Clouds will overspread the sky; But when trav’ling days are over, Not a shadow, not a sigh. 3. Let us then be true and faithful, Trusting, serving every day; Just one glimpse of Him in glory Will the toils of life repay. 4. Onward to the prize before us! Soon His beauty we’ll behold; Soon the pearly gates will open; We shall tread the streets of gold.

1. As I journey through the land, singing as I go, Pointing souls to Calvary—to the crimson flow, Many arrows pierce my soul from without, within; But my Lord leads me on, through Him I must win. Refrain: Oh, I want to see Him, look upon His face, There to sing forever of His saving grace; On the streets of glory let me lift my voice, Cares all past, home at last, ever to rejoice. 2. When in service for my Lord dark may be the night, But I’ll cling more close to Him, He will give me light; Satan’s snares may vex my soul, turn my thoughts aside; But my Lord goes ahead, leads whate’er betide. 3. When in valleys low I look toward the mountain height, And behold my Savior there, leading in the fight, With a tender hand outstretched toward the valley low, Guiding me, I can see, as I onward go. 4. When before me billows rise from the mighty deep, Then my Lord directs my bark; He doth safely keep, And He leads me gently on through this world below; He’s a real Friend to me, oh, I love Him so.
