PRESIDENT’S MESSAGE Happy New Year!

In retrospect, 2018 was a successful year for the Grand Prairie

PRESIDENT JUDI STITH

Woman’s Club. Participation by members, in the many events both in the club and the city charities was excellent. Mayor Ron Jensen, when attending our Christmas auction, thanked our members for our high level of visibly in the community. Thank you

to all members for your community service.

The Annual Christmas Auction and Luncheon was a Bright and Shining Star event! So successful,

beautifully executed, and highly attended! Barbara Stancill, is to be congratulated for the organization of this important event. The silent auction, bake sale, Christmas money tree raffle, and tamale sales, takes months of planning and a large committee to execute successfully.

Thank you to Chris Kracmer and the social committee for the tasty lunch, Debbie Beaudin and

the decorating committee for all the table decorations, and Reni Cook for the entertainment. The S.G.P. High School Show Choir performance was prefect for getting everyone into the Christmas spirit! So many members to thank who contributed to this event; Janette Skrasek, Brenda Skinner, Melinda Rogers, Sara Dedeluk, Paulette Reid, Marita Jordan, Wynelle Hannah, Janice Pribble, Jill Malone. Ann Chilton, Melanie Ertle and all the Directors who worked the bake the sale. Karen Bond for the donation of 50 dozen tamales. Last but not least, thanks to everyone that donated, or solicited donations for the auction. Thanks to all who helped, baked, or gave of their time.

President- elect Jackie Blackburn, now has all four of the members needed for the nominating

committee. They are: Vivian Vance, Janette Skrasek, Marita Jordan and Brenda Skinner. This will be the Nominating Committee for the 2019/2020 Woman’s Club Officers. If you would like to serve, please contact Jackie Blackburn or one of the committee members.

The winter and spring are looking very busy at the club, so come and join us for fellowship and

fun. Please make one of your New Year’s resolutions to join a department or to participate on a committee. Together we can make 2019 a great year!!!

KIDS I.N.C.

BARBARA LEVITZ

BARBARA STANCILL

Kids is still clothing children and still in the process of relocating. At our board meeting, it was mentioned that we were in dire need of coats. Jorja Clemson is on our board and she immediately went to the City of Grand Prairie and they started collecting coats for us. She also asked her church, Crosspoint Church of Christ, and they also delivered many coats. She is a great person to have on your team. Thank you so much Jorja.

We would like to thank the following for their donations: Becky Crow , First Baptist Church of Grand Prairie Crosspoint Church of Christ and the City of Grand Prairie We appreciate all donations, whether large or small. Thank you for your continued support of this program.

“Children may forget what you said, but they will never forget how you made them feel.”

ARTIST OF THE MONTH Please welcome the January Artist of the Month Sandy Trent

Sandy Trent is our January artist of the month. Although a native of Michigan her father’s desire to live in the south brought the family to Texas. She has lived in Grand Prairie since she was a teenager. A friend introduced her to art by inviting her to take oil painting lessons with him, and she continues to paint exclusively in oils. Many subjects inspire her work, but animals were her first love and the subject she returns to often. In addition to painting, Sandy’s other passion is volunteerism. She devotes many hours each week to serving her community through the First Methodist Church monthly food program, Care Van Children’s Inoculation program, K. I. D.s, Inc. and local food banks.
