PRESIDENT’S MESSAGE My last President’s Message is truly filled with emotions of happiness, a little sadness, and lots of gratitude. I wonder where the time has gone. It seems like only a few weeks ago we had our Membership Luncheon and the beginning of our 2021/2022 Club Year and yet here we are at the end. Our success this Club year was a concentrated effort of our Officers and Board of Directors as well as our members and what would I have done without each of you? Where do I begin to thank you?
PRESIDENT Paulette Reid
Our Membership Chair, Brenda Skinner, who also took on the major undertaking of the Directory did a phenomenal job. She singlehandedly obtained all of the Ads which helped cover the cost of printing our directories.
Project Chair Jackie Blackburn had two wonderful fundraising events – Elegant Designed Tables on October 23, 2021, and a special Wine Tasting Event on March 5, 2022. Everyone who attended had a wonderful time and we raised money for our Scholarships! The Christmas silent and audible auction, spearheaded by Janice Pribble and her committee raised an incredible $16K. And a big thanks to Jeff Copeland, our Auctioneer Extraordinaire, who helped to ensure the success of the live auction! Included were a bake sale with wonderful baked goods from our members which raised almost $900, led by Claudette Justin and our Directors-At-Large, a Raffle for a Wine Basket (Thank you Judi Stith and Janette Skrasek), and our Christmas Tree Raffle filled with cash and gift cards! Program Chair Reni Cook’s programs were wonderful even though she had two major challenges when two scheduled speakers had to cancel and she had to scramble to replace them. The Christmas Program was wonderful and Reni’s program for May will be a Spring Fling & Fashion Show by Chico’s in the Highlands! Can’t wait to see our “models”! What would we do without our Building Chair and Co-Chair? Judi Stith and Jackie Blackburn have been remarkable getting building repairs done and handling several outside events that have given us positive exposure to the public and raised additional funds for the club. With the addition of allowing wine/beer to be served (with approval from the Executive Committee) we are receiving more and more requests to rent the Club and our facilities. Our Treasurer has had to deal with an Audit from Texas Workforce Commission and issues with the IRS as well as the normal payroll taxes, bill payment, etc. Thank you, thank you Pat Elkins for all you do! When it comes to great food, we have to thank Social Chair Jean Van Schaick and her committee! Each one has been a new experience of deliciousness!! Can’t wait for our luncheon at our May General Meeting.

And walking into the Auditorium for each meeting has brought so much pleasure viewing the beautiful settings created by Decorating Chair Debbie Beaudin and her committee. Thank you to Liz Gomez and Marita Jordan, who have handled correspondence for the Club and taken meticulous notes at our meetings, recording history for the future. And to Becky Garland, our Historian, who has taken countless photos to recreate those memories, we are grateful! Thank you Parliamentarian Janette Skrasek who worked diligently with her Committee to go through the By-Laws and Standing Rules, making much needed changes! A big thank you to Cindy Tarrant and her telephone Committee for those phone calls and spur of the moment email blasts to notify members of much needed information. Scholarships! Can you believe we are able to provide three (3) this year? Two from the Club and one through the generous donation of Paul Rowntree in memory of his mother, Lucille Rowntree. We have to thank Cindy Miracle, Scholarship Chair, and her committee who went through applications submitted by young ladies who are seniors at high schools/academies in Grand Prairie. Three (3) outstanding and deserving young ladies were selected and will be announced at our May General Meeting. Thank you Cindy for continuing in this very important role. And as I am writing this final message, I am thinking of the individual who creates each month’s Newsletter and our Programs for each general meeting as well as handling the bid sheets, payments, etc., for our Christmas Auction and am so grateful for her! Thank you Sara Dedeluk! At the May General Meeting we will hold a raffle for Three (3) Wine Tasting Events. “Wine Tasting Event for 10 People” is donated from A Wine Know located in Grand Prairie and is valid through December 31, 2022. Tickets will be $20 each and we will have three drawings. How much fun would it be to host an event at your home?! May 25 through May 28, we will have our annual Garage Sale and anticipate it being a phenomenal event as it has been in the past, so please support it by donating an item or attending and supporting the garage sale. There are many treasures! And I would be remiss if I did not thank our Hostess, Jill Malone, for her steadfastness, dependability, and love she shows to each one of us on a daily basis. Jill is a remarkably kind and generous person and we are so fortunate to have her. Please show love and encouragement to your new Incoming President, Judy Ingram, and her Officers and Board of Directors as you have done to me. IT HAS BEEN AN ABSOLUTE HONOR AND PRIVILEGE TO HAVE SERVED AS YOUR PRESIDENT. If I omitted anyone, please forgive me. I appreciate each one of you and may God bless and keep you safe. Paulette
