The Woman’s Club of Grand Prairie cordially invites you to attend the General Meeting and Luncheon on Friday,October 4, 2019 at 10:00 a.m. The luncheon will take place at the Woman’s Club building located at 1 Park Square North, Grand Prairie. There is no charge for the lunch meeting, however please make a reservation. The guest speaker will be Bianca Castro. She is a television personality on NBC TV and a north Texas local. You must make your reservation by calling the club by 972-264-2320. Hope to see you there!

What a lovely start to our new Club year! The membership luncheon hosted by Chair, Marita Jordan and her committee was delicious, the room was beautifully decorated and it was wonderful to have so many members and their guests attend. What a successful day, we have seven new members and three pending applications. Thank you Marita. Mark your calendar and save the date for the Fall Brunch

on Sunday, October 20th. This is a Club fundraiser hosted by Project Chair, Karen Bond and her committee. It is sure to be delicious and a wonderful way to spend a Sunday, please make reservations and plan on attending with family and friends. Don’t forget to call the Club and make your reservations for the October General Meeting. Brenda Skinner has planned an interesting program, Vivian Vance and her committee have a delicious lunch planned. It is October so our Club will look like fall’s Bounty. The yearbook/ directories will be ready for pick-up, the new cookbooks will be available and there will be raffle tickets and information about the exciting Christmas Auction. I look forward to seeing everyone on Friday, October 4th at 10:00.

Jackie PLEASE NOTE AMENDMENT CHANGE TO STANDING RULE #2 Second sentence reads: Liquor is not permitted on the premises. AMENDMENT READS: Beer and wine may be permitted in the building if a request is submitted and approved by the Executive Board. Each event or occasion must have board approval, with a preference to non-profit Grand Prairie groups, and an exclusion to non-member private parties. Rental fee to be determined by the Executive Board and Building Chair.

ARTIST OF THE MONTH

Please welcome the October Artist of the Month, Cortney Carroll Cortney Carroll is a Brand Strategy Consultant, where she creates new brands from inception to market. She is Co-Founder of the Pure Company, an online store that features residential air and water purifiers and Founder & CEO of Style-Alum.com a brand currently in development. Cortney is a life-long resident of Grand Prairie, a graduate of Grand Prairie High School and Texas A&M University.

After

graduation from Texas A&M she moved to Galveston and started a career in hotel management at the historic Hotel Galvez. This early career path led to an opportunity to travel around the world planning large events, parties and tours for corporate groups. Already an avid traveler, being a corporate event planner provided additional opportunities to explore her love of cultures, experiences and photography. Each year Cortney makes sure to visit at least one place she has never been. Her travel photos are unique and beautiful. Follow her on Instagram at @cortneycarroll to follow her travel experiences. She will be exhibiting at the Woman’s Club building from October 15 - November 15.

CLUB NEWS & EVENTS

UPCOMING EVENTS- SAVE THE DATE! The brunch has always been a much anticipated event that never disappoints! This year’s brunch will be no exception. Plan on enjoying a pancake/waffle station (made to order), scrambled eggs, omelet station, bacon, sausage links, biscuits and gravy, eggs benedict, mini pastries, French toast casserole and a sandwich bar (make your own sandwich with a selection of meat, cheese, bread, lettuce and tomatoes), and fruit. Adult tickets are $16.00, children 8-16 are $8.00 and kids up to 7 years eat free. Please get your tickets from the projects committee (Karen Bond, Becky Garland, Gayle Brinkman, Liz Mullen or Janice Aust) or call the club and make your reservations by Tuesday, October, 14, 2019. Invite your family and friends and let someone else do the cooking and cleanup.

You and guests are invited to attend the Christmas Luncheon Event and General Meeting on Friday, December 6, 2019 at 9:00 AM. The luncheon will take place at the Woman’s Club building located at 1 Park Square North, Grand Prairie. Please join us for food, fun and fellowship plus get a head start on Christmas shopping in the silent & live auction!

This year in addition to the great silent and live auction at the Christmas event, you will also have the opportunity to win a basket of 12 premium wines. These make excellent gifts and raffle tickets are only $20, only 50 tickets will be sold. Contact Janette Skrasek to get yours!

Thank you to those that were able to attend Brenda Ward’s funeral on August 26th. Please keep BeBe Bingham and family in your thoughts and prayers. A special thank you to Jacqueline Blackburn and Janice Kelly for the donations to the scholarship fund in memory of Brenda.

Our hearts go out to Judi Stith for the recent passing of her brother, Stevie Glen. Judi traveled to California to attend his Celebration of Life. Please keep her and her family in your thoughts as they make the return to Texas.
