PRESIDENT’S MESSAGE PRESIDENT JUDI STITH
Welcome to Fall 2018! Last year we celebrated the past 50 years of the Woman’s Club with much fanfare and celebration. It was so much fun to look back to where it all started. Thanks to all the ladies who, through the past 50 years, have made the Club what is today. As we begin our 51st year, I’m excited to announce some of the changes that have been made over the summer.
I’m sure that you are all aware that our hostess for the last seven years, Pam Gober, has retired to the country. Although Pam is enjoying life out at Lake Whitney, she will be greatly missed. The good news is, we have a new hostess. Her name is Jill Malone. Jill is retired from the U.S. Postal Service, enjoys cooking, and is looking forward to preparing lunches for our outside groups. Everyone will have the opportunity to meet Jill at our Membership Luncheon. I know you will all make her feel welcome. Elsie Callaway decided it was time for retirement after 10 years of producing both the newsletter and the Yearbook!!! Sara Dedeluk will be producing the monthly newsletter this year. Thank you, Sara, for this new look for our newsletter. Brenda Skinner has been working on the yearbook for 2018/2019. This is a big project and we are very lucky to have Brenda volunteer her talents. Thanks to Janice Pribble for taking all our pictures, and to Janette Skrasek for selling all the ads for the yearbook. Community Outreach Department had big win this summer at the City’s Ice Cream charity event. Thanks to Karen Bond and Ann Chilton for their winning Peach Ice Cream. The $1,000 prize money will be donated to the City’s playground that is being built next year for special needs children. Also, you all will want to attend Bunco night on September 29th, benefiting United Charities. Tickets are $20 and may be purchased from a Community Outreach member. I hope everyone will attend the Membership luncheon on September 7th at 10:00 a.m. The member cost is $10, and guests are welcome at no charge. This is the perfect time to check out all of our departments (we have two new ones) and decide which of these you would enjoy joining. IT IS GOING TO BE A GREAT YEAR!!!

KIDS I.N.C.
There are some big changes going on at KIDS, Inc. We now occupy a building owned by the school district. It has been deemed unsafe. The school district decided that there would be three main distribution schools (Adams, LBJ and Truman) that would serve the schools in their area. Each school has dedicated a room in their building for this purpose. BARBARA BARBARA The counselors and social workers will handle the clothing LEVITZ STANCILL at these schools. When the three schools are ready, the clothing we have will be taken to these schools. We still will be clothing children until these schools are ready. Appointments are already scheduled on the 13th of August. We will still have to keep records and maintain inventory of our clothing. Once the relocation takes place, we are welcome to go to the schools and help the social workers clothe the children. We will be providing the students with new clothing so we will still need donations. The schools will be open more often and we will be able to clothe more students in the GPISD.
“Children may forget what you said, but they will never forget how you made them feel.”
ARTIST OF THE MONTH SHARON COLLINS
Please welcome Sharon as our artist for September. She is a resident of Grand Prairie, and a world traveler. She says of her work: “I love taking photos and creating beautiful images. My motivation and overriding goal is to bring beauty into the world. It is a thrill to visit both new and familiar places, to see the wonder and beauty that exists around us. I hope to capture and share with others what I see and feel.” In addition to photography and travel, she enjoys cooking, a good poker game, euchre, reading and walking. Sharon is a member of the Dallas Camera Club, the Fort Worth PPA, and the Photographic Society of America.
