SAVE THE DATE FRIDAY, MAY 7 We are thrilled and excited to finally announce our next General Meeting! Please save the date for Friday, May 7 at 10:00 a.m. Althought this meeting will not have a speaker, we are happy to get together over a meal and celebrate the time
together. With Covid vaccinations moving at a fast pace, we hope to be able to plan many more events in the near future. It’s a slow process, to a very long year but we are looking forward to connecting again with the membership at this luncheon. Please call the club and make your reservations! 972-264-2320. Hope to see you there!

PRESIDENT’S MESSAGE PRESIDENT Barbara Stancill
Our club year has moved along very quickly and our year will soon be coming to an end. I know we are all disappointed that we had to cancel some of our meetings due to COVID and the freeze in February. While we were unable to hold many of our meetings and/or events in 2020 and 2021, we were able to hold our October General Meeting and a Christmas Silent Auction in December. With COVID vaccinations moving at a fast pace, we are excited to move forward with plans for our May General Meeting, May 7, 2021 at 10:00 a.m.
At the May meeting we will begin collecting dues for the 2021/2022 Club year. All membership dues of $100 are due by June 1, 2021 which you can pay by check or cash. It is disappointing that the 2020/2021 Club Year did not go as planned, however, the dues you paid last year helped to sustain our building, provide Insurance protection to insure the contents of the building as well as liability coverage, purchase food and office supplies and pay the wages of our Hostess. With that being said, we would like to offer a one-time 50% reduction in the membership dues for the 2021/2022 Club Year to those members who paid their dues last year. Several members have agreed they wish to forego the reduction since these monies help cover expenses at the Club and they choose to consider it a donation. If you wish to receive this one-time reduction of $50, you may request it at the time you pay your dues. This is only available to those who pay their dues by June 1, 2021. Please rejoin and support our wonderful Woman’s Club of Grand Prairie. We will also be voting on the 2021/2022 Slate of Officers, followed by Installation of the new Officers. Please come enjoy a delicious meal and visit with your friends. I look forward to seeing each one of you!
Barbara
Some of you may know that during the ice storm in February, the Woman’s Club had a burst water pipe that caused some damage. The City did mitigation to stop the water damage and in the last few weeks has removed damaged ceiling in the entry, office, hallway, men’s room and storage closet. We were fortunate that none of our furnishings or large public areas were affected. The water has been turned back on and plastic is covering the exposed rafters until final repair work can begin. There were several City buildings that sustained damage during the storm, and like us are awaiting insurance adjusters and approval to begin the repair work. We have requested that our work be completed in the summer if possible, so that it would be possible to hold our May 7th General Membership Meeting. The building may not be in its usual perfect condition, but it offers no hazards to our membership and this would allow us to gather for our last meeting of the year. Hope to see you in May. Jackie Blackburn
