FORESTIS - ENERGY HOTSPOT

At the turn of the new millennium, during a forest walk in the romantic town of Palmschoss in the Ploseberg Mountains above the cathedral town of Brixen, is where South Tyrolian hotelier Alois discovered a mountain lodge tucked away behind some hedges that had grown wild. It immediately became clear to him that this was an energy hotspot; his family bought the building and launched it as a hotel in 2010.

Today, ten years later, a new chapter is being written here with his son Stefan and his partner Teresa Unterthiner having turned it into a 5-star refuge opening its doors on 20 July 2020. The concept is highly promising. The historical building is listed. The outlandish and innovative architecture of FORESTIS is unique and takes into account the ultimate in contemporary architectural and energy principles. Its southerly alignment offers a feast for the eyes with a spectacular view of the Dolomites – a UNESCO world heritage site – from all 62 suites, from the spa, as well as from the restaurants and the rooftop bar. Guests seeking to be even closer to nature can have their daybeds prepared on the terrace of the Tower Suite – glamping with a difference!

One special highlight: At FORESTIS not only do guests get to drink the regional spring water, they get to swim in it in the two pools of the 2000 m2 spa, whose concept is based on the plethora of trees surrounding the hotel. Everything including the treatments revolves around mountain pines, spruce trees and arolla pines. It’s all about sound frequencies, the flow of energy, healing woods and meridians; and Wyda, the yoga of the Celts with its movements and meditations that go back to the Druids.

In the kitchen, Head Chef Roland Lamprecht conjures up a culinary storm using everything that mountain and Mother Nature has to offer: berries, mushrooms, herbs, nuts and blossoms. All produce is sourced from close by, bread and jams are homemade. And all around, the Dolomites offer the perfect outdoor platform with an abundance of hiking and biking trails – and a ski slope right on the doorstep.
