Corrections

修正

1. I will be scared.

4. it vs. he

scare [ sk5r ] 是及物動詞「驚嚇;使恐懼」的意思,其用 法為 A scares B.「A 嚇到 B」。

I didn’t know why, but it followed me to my house.

• Mike used a spider to scare Mandy.

• I saw a big butterfly in the park. It was very

colorful. • The puppy barked at the man, and then it ran

away.

• I think your kids will be scared of my dog.

I heard someone call my name.「我聽見有人喊我的名字」,但 文中並非此用法。 •“I’m here!"Liz called from her room. • Please don’t shout/yell! You’re hurting my ears.

3. I walked on the dark street. Don’t play in the street. That’s dangerous.「別在馬路上玩,那樣很危險」。 • Do you live on Main Street? • If your ball is in the street, don’t chase it!

5. I think I will never be their friend. not . . . forever

q I will stay here forever.

w I won’t stay here forever.

e I will never stay here. I think I will never be their friend. • You cannot be angry with Sally forever. • Victor will never leave his hometown.

For online degrees, universities send students articles* and e-books. Teachers hold classes on the Internet. Students have to complete 3 tests, projects,4 and essays.* Online courses are a great choice for people who are short on free time, or who live far away. Now you can study at some of the world’s best schools, without leaving your house.

Think About It! 1. 正確答案為:(D) A among [ 4`m9; ] prep. 在(三者以上)之間 • The butterfly flew among the flowers.

B from [ fr3m ] prep. (from A to B 表示「從 A 至 B」) • William works from two to six.

C during [ `dj8r6; ] prep. 在……期間 (during 之後接「一段時間」,英文無 during A and B 的說法) • I will be busy during the weekend.

D between [ b6`twin ] prep. 在(兩者)之間 (between A and B 表示「在 A 和 B 之間」) • Will you have any free time between now and next week? 若選 (B) from,則要說 from 1974 to 1990 才正確。

2. 正確答案為:(A) 由 be 動詞 were 可知,主詞應為複數名詞,所以 (B)、(D) 不選。 • One hundred years ago, American women were

not allowed to vote. • Those two men are from Japan.

3. 正確答案為:(C) A more (adv.) 更多;更大程度地 • If you’re still hungry, you should eat more.

B later (adv.)

D far (adv.) 遙遠地 • Heather threw the ball very far.

I’m bigger than you.,而要說 I’m older than you. • All of Emily’s kids are over 20. • Sue can’t work here because she is under 18. • The temperature is five degrees above/below zero.

5. 正確答案為:(D) A according to 根據 • According to Miss Chen, this is a wonderful novel.

B in order to 為了 • In order to prepare for his speech, Ben practiced every day.

C be about to 即將;快要 • Neil is about to leave for New Zealand.

D in addition to 除了……之外 • In addition to cleaning the bathroom, we also have to clean the kitchen.

C longer(副詞 long 的比較級)更久地;更晚地 • Oliver is going to stay up a little longer.

Outback Wrangler:: Flying Crocs

Crocodiles 1 are one of the most dangerous animals in the world. In the countryside2 of northern Australia, these animals can cause very serious problems. They often attack and eat farmers’ cows. Sometimes, they even kill people. Local people deal with this problem by killing the crocodiles. However, some workers have a better solution.3 They move the crocodiles to parts of the countryside where there are no people. This way, both the crocodiles and the people are safe. This is not an easy job. To capture4 the crocodiles, workers set traps. 5 When they catch a crocodile, they have to put rope around its mouth, and move the crocodile into a cage.

54

After that, they connect the cage to a helicopter.6 Finally, the helicopter flies the crocodile to a more distant area. They think this is better than killing the crocodiles. This kind of work saves many crocodiles every year. However, this is a very dangerous job. Workers have to get in the water and use their hands to move the crocodiles. Some crocodiles try to attack them. These people had better be careful: the biggest crocodiles are more than five meters long, and weigh more than 400 kilograms.
