Hello Goodbye

Hello Goodbye is David Tao’s seventh album. His last album, 69, came out four years ago. 69 won a Golden Melody Award in 2010. David Tao released his first album, David Tao, in 1997. After that, R&B started to take Mandopop* by storm. In this new album, he mixes old music elements,* like nylon guitars* and harps,* into modern music. He wants modern people to enjoy traditional music because traditional music isn’t popular these days. David Tao has written many songs for years, and he regards* himself as God’s agent. He wants to make the world a better place by creating music. He thinks that life is like a roller coaster. It has its ups and downs, so we should always be prepared. We should keep a positive attitude, even when life is hard. When we stay positive, God will open another window for us.

1 If I were rich, I would donate . . .

3 achieve your dreams

If + S. + were/V-ed, S + would/could/might /should + V. ※ 注意 if 子句不論人稱,be 動詞一律用 were,附屬子句的 助動詞也一律使用過去式。

• If I were you, I would tell the truth. • If Scott won the lottery, he could buy a new

house.

2 give it to people money 是不可數名詞,因此代名詞必須使用代替單數 的 it,不能用複數的 them。 • There is some water in the bottle. • All the work was done by John.

4 . . . may be jealous of rich people jealous [ `d.5l4s ] 是形容詞「嫉妒的」之意,句型為 A is jealous of B.,其中要以 of 接受詞。 • Tina is jealous of her sister because she is prettier

and smarter.

5 like vs. alike like [ laIk ] prep.

Stop stealing my thunder!

The musician stole the other performers’ thunder.

I know you’re mad, but don’t take it out on me.

take (sth) out on (sb) Tim takes his problems out on other people.

It’s time to lay your cards on the table.

You should put your cards on the table and tell the truth.

When scientists do this, they can change the animal or vegetable a lot. For example, they can make an animal bigger, smaller, or a different color. Someday, they might be able to create new animals. So far, scientists have made a cabbage that produces poison.4 The poison prevents caterpillars* from eating the cabbage.

A Slice of Life
