ur Fall Parade of Homes will be held on Saturday & Sunday, October 9-10 & 16-17 showcasing 26 newly constructed homes with a mixture of traditional open houses along with some Parade homes being virtual tour only this fall. From the comfort of your own home…you can preview our Fall Parade homes as virtual tours…available for all Parade homes on our website at www.GreensboroBuilders.org. Parade homes that will be virtual tour only are noted on the Parade entry page and website. The ability to physically tour Parade homes will be based on regulatory guidelines and protocols in place at the time of our Parade dates. Homes will open from 1-5 pm…admission is free. We do ask that you follow CDC guidelines regarding face coverings, social distancing, etc. If you prefer viewing the home independently, you can contact the Builder and/ or Realtor to schedule an appointment. Pandemic Sparks New Home Design Features or flex space for two. This may include adding separate work space to the kitchen for virtual school, homework and crafting. Forgotten corners in homes are being embraced to create tuckedaway flex areas, such as small desk nooks off a hallway.

ew home designs are reflecting changing preferences and lifestyles as many homeowners are rethinking their space after spending so much time at home over the past year. The pandemic shifted activities that typically take place outside our homes, such as work and school, into our living spaces. New home designs will likely include stronger connections to the outdoor elements along with more creative use of spaces. As homeowners seek out ways to maximize the functionality of their living spaces, here are some of the budding trends we are seeing in new home design and renovation. Modifying Mudrooms and Entryways. A simple area to take off jackets or rainboots when entering your home is no longer an afterthought. Now a focal point, home entryways and mudrooms are a space where mail is dropped off, groceries/delivery boxes are collected, face coverings are removed, or hands are sanitized. Future home design will take these activities in consideration when creating a functional, cohesive and comfortable entryway. Creating Flexible Spaces. Getting homework, virtual play dates and work conference calls completed all in the same space at the same time is a challenge. New homes will offer at least one home office, often with an option

Adding Quiet Zones. With activity buzzing throughout the home, a quiet area to unwind after a long day or simply to unplug from devices and screens is a sought-after feature. Materials such as copper have natural antimicrobial elements that have the potential to reduce the spread of microbes. Doorknobs, kitchen cabinet handles and other home hardware with copper or other antimicrobial materials could grow in popularity. Touchless faucets, hands-free light fixtures or appliances may also gain widespread usage. Finding Storage Solutions. From more space to store non-perishable food, home office accessories or items in the entryway, a place for everything is generating appeal for homeowners. With more time at home, additional storage space will be a valuable feature in future home designs. Enhancing Outdoor Spacess. Connecting the indoors to the outdoors is a growing priority. Fresh air and green spaces designed to be enjoyed year-round is at the top of the list for many homeowners. Outdoor spaces with flexibility, from ample space to entertain small groups to a relaxing space for gardening or other outdoor family activities, are popular features in today’s new homes.
