Our Fall Parade of Homes will be held on Saturday & Sunday, October 21-22 & 28-29 showcasing 38 newly constructed homes…with traditional open houses over the two weekends…along with some Virtual Tour Only homes that have been sold and/or under construction.

You can preview Virtual Tours for all Parade homes on our website at www.GreensboroBuilders.org. Parade homes that are Virtual Tour Only are noted on the Parade entry page and website.

Open Houses will be held on Saturday & Sunday from 1-5 pm…admission is free. This is a great chance to see the homes firsthand as well as meet and talk with Parade Builders and Realtors regarding homes they currently have or will have available.

Light Hues

Adding white or light-colored furniture can make a room look more spacious, open, and airy. Painting walls or cabinets white allows for a blank palette to start a space with, which can then be the base for creativity to begin and shine through. Using white as a base gives leniency to play with other colors to stand out.

Combining Dark and Light Hues

With careful planning, modern home designs are within reach. One common approach is to use light and dark color combinations throughout your home, from paint colors to light and dark wood choices (usually on cabinets or floors), furniture, and even carpets or other décor items. If you’re interested in creating a fresh look for your new and/or existing home, consider the following approaches to using dark and light hues to modernize your living spaces.

Combining dark and light colors can also create an appealing space with a sense of organization and order by following the 80/20 rule. According to the American Institute of Interior Design, “As long as 80% of your interior is unified by the same style, period, or philosophy, you can deviate with the other 20%.” This rule makes it easy to combine colors.

Various trade schools, apprenticeship programs, and certifications make it accessible for students and adults to enter and advance in the construction industry. Employers provide on-the-job training programs as well.

The Greensboro Builders Association participates in numerous community service projects on an ongoing basis, giving of both financial resources and in-kind contributions.

Raising Roofs…Builders for Habitat

Celebrating our 65th Home!

In 2003, GBA entered into a partnership with Habitat for Humanity of Greater Greensboro known as Raising Roofs… Builders for Habitat Builders, remodelers, suppliers and trade contractors worked sideby-side to build houses from foundation to dedication in one incredible week…a huge undertaking that could not happen without the support of numerous Association members. Prior to this year, our members had built 64 Habitat houses…providing homes for 64 families.

This year we completed construction on our 65 th home as we also celebrated the Greensboro Builders Association’s 65 th year as a trade association. We are excited to continue the tradition of helping provide affordable housing for others in our community…and appreciate the generosity of our members who continue to donate building materials and labor to support this initiative.

ReBuilding Hope

Since 2011, GBA has partnered with Community Housing Solutions to assist with residential renovations and new construction. More than twelve homes have been renovated to ensure homes are warmer, safer, and drier for those in need in our community. Two homes have been completely rehabbed, one in the historic Glenwood neighborhood, and one which was damaged during the tornado that touched down in East Greensboro. We have also constructed two new homes, one on Douglas Street and the other on Eastwood Avenue. Through these initiatives, we have impacted 16 families and more than 40 individuals to date.

In addition to providing support in the construction of new homes and much needed home repairs, GBA members serve in various leadership roles on these organization’s Board of Directors and building committees.
