Junior Club Championship Our junior golfers had a great week of Championships July 27th through 31st! Monday through Wednesday was the Match Play Championship. Based on their ages, they played different sets of tees, but they all played together. The juniors qualified on Monday and then were placed into flights based on their qualifying scores. In the Championship Match 14-year-old Freddy Ortmann was paired against 9-year-old Jack Strickland. The match went 19 holes and ended with Freddy making an 8’ putt for birdie.

Operation 36 This summer we had 58 ladies participate in the summer semester. In addition to that, junior golfers have been able to participate in Sunday matches to work towards passing in their respective divisions. There were two special accomplishments...
Congratulations to Jack Strickland!
Jack passed this summer from the Lime Green tees with a par of 37 during the Operation 36 Match! This was Jack’s FIRST attempt.
Congratulations to Tammy Kasik!
Tammy made a Hole-In-One on July 5th, on the 8th hole at the Farm. She has also improved by 35 shots in Operation 36 since the fall of 2018!
Junior Camps Nothing can slow down our Junior Golf Summer Camps! With extreme caution given to social distancing, we increased the number of camps we had this year to ten.
GCC Junior League We also began a new Junior Golf League this summer. We had three teams that competed against each other in matches. Within each match, two players from each team played against two players from another team in a better-ball format. Parents caddied for the juniors and proved to be great family bonding time! Team Tar Heels outlasted Team Tiger Woods and Team King Cobra to take the inaugural GCC Junior League title!
