Greensboro Country Club September | October 2019

General Manager/COO's Message (336) 275-8506

Dear Members, As football, school and the fall are upon us, the Club is active with popular events, new programs, and on the way to the approved renovation details in operations. Our strategic initiatives are front and center for the Club and staff, especially as it pertains to operations. This was mentioned in a previous e-mail, but I wanted to give an update: As staffing and philosophies on work have changed throughout the years, GCC has adapted to these times. One way is how we hire staff and orient them. Once we hire staff, they have an all-day orientation. They visit both campuses, meet all Department Directors, have handout materials and learn our mantra and goal of making Members happy and creating memorable experiences. We are not only informing staff how the culture of GCC works, but taking responsibility of teaching them life skills. We find for staff in all departments that this is their first job, so we begin from the beginning.

September | October 2019

To enhance their knowledge in the food and beverage area, one of our Members has been instructing staff on how Members interpret service from the Members' perspective - from beginning to end. We have found this to be extremely helpful, and is now an ongoing standard. We are always looking for ways to add value for the Membership with numerous new classes, events and fun being added to each and every department. Please keep your schedules full and join us this fall. To this end, we need your assistance with reservations. The wonderful staff in all departments works hard to plan fun, diversified events for the Membership. Where we struggle is reservations and RSVPs for events. We know schedules are busy, but planning for enough supplies, food and beverage, and staff is a challenge if we do not have the sign ups. In addition if sign ups are not there we end up cancelling the event. Recently members have told us they intended on coming but had not signed up. Please help us by reserving in advance so we may have maximum participation from the Membership.

Page 2

Numerous projects are complete or well underway. The dredging of the pond has been a challenge because of rain and weather. We are anticipating this project will be complete by the end of September. The resurfacing and striping of the farm and tennis parking lots make the area look new, fresh and appealing. Behind the scenes, some needed kitchen equipment at the Farm and IP have been installed - things which can be reused in the renovation. The comprehensive Reserve Study was completed, which gives guidance for usable life expectancy of Club assets and assists with our budgeting and financial controls. This process took months to complete, and gives the CFO, Board and me a detailed data base to work from for planning now and in the future. As always keep me informed, it is the not knowing which cannot be corrected and/or improved upon. Sincerely, Terra S.H. Waldron, CCM, CCE General Manager/COO
