Wishing you all a joyous New Year!

Thank you for continuing to support the efforts of Membership at GCC!

The HappOmeter survey software for the restaurants launched in November, and the Club has received tremendous feedback from Members regarding their experiences in the dining rooms. We would like to thank everyone for taking the time to share honest ratings and constructive suggestions, as well as overwhelming support and positive comments! This software has given the Board, House Committee and Management a measurable tool by which to ensure Member satisfaction as well as benchmark experiences in the dining rooms. From responses gathered over a short amount of time, we have discovered that while we may have some work to do, we are on the correct path toward providing exceptional dining at the Club! And to thank Members for their participation, we randomly pick one Member each month who has submitted a survey to receive a $50 credit in any of the dining rooms.

November's winner was Suzanne Kelly!

Fitness, Health & Wellness (336) 691-5825

Member Spotlight: Anna Wall Member for 29 years!

What is your favorite program at the Fitness, Health & Wellness Center?

I have several new favorite classes that I started this past summer…the 9:00 a.m. water aerobics, the Monday through Thursday 10:00 a.m. Stretch and Flex, Flex and Balance and Golf Fitness. Each of these classes target similar areas that I had no idea would bring such physical success.

What benefits have you seen since coming to the Fitness, Health & Wellness Center?

A huge benefit I have received is that I am no longer going to physical therapy. Most everything we do in these particular classes are similar to, or an adaptation of my previous PT sessions. Additionally, I can tell a huge difference in my recovery time after a car road trip, getting out of bed and my day to day activities. While nursing multiple injuries for over 10 years, I thought I was going to “live this way” forever; however, these classes have allowed my family and me hope for better days ahead.

What would you tell someone who is hesitant to start in the Fitness, Health & Wellness Center?

With so many options the Fitness, Health & Wellness Center offers, there is something for all levels, needs and interest. My advice is to find something that is tailored for you, have additional options to decrease monotony/burnout, have fun, get to know your class instructor and finally, stay consistent.

We held our first holiday day camps this year, and we had a blast! Campers participated in making a holiday craft each day and various science and fitness activities. We had a great time playing classic games such as “sharks and minnows” in the Fitness Center and “heads up 7 up” in the YAC. We tried new things such as building towers as tall as we could just by using dry spaghetti and marshmallows! We also held daily solo and team competitions to help with sharpening our cooperative and problemsolving skills. At the end of each day everybody enjoyed a variety of freshly baked cookies from our GCC bakery! Watch for more exciting camps at the YAC!
