Greensboro Country Club November | December 2020

General Manager/COO's Message (336) 275-8506

Dear Members, Members make the difference! A simple "thank you" is not enough for the support and kind words received by staff during the 2020 pandemic thus far! Because of you, the Club has stayed as active and relevant as possible within the scope of the Governor’s Executive orders. Disruptive March 2020 set into motion innovations, strategies and changes we never thought about, and forced everyone to use competencies, their imagination, and find opportunities. New words and platforms like “Zoom” became popular and are now familiar to everyone.

November | December 2020

Once the initial learning curve occurred, staff - with the assistance of Committees and the Board - set into motion a flexible plan of activities, communication and executed. The Board met every week for months reviewing stages of Executive Orders, what they meant and discussing how members lives could be enhanced within the confined limits. Every time decisions were made, an electronic communication was sent (and are still being sent) to keep everyone up-to-date. Golf (a sport that can be played solo and outdoors) and Food and Beverage Curbside Service kept the Club afloat at first. Time went on and we could open the pool, tennis and limited dining inside and outside. Finally, on a limited basis fitness was allowed to open (while - at this stage - Executive Orders are still prohibiting locker rooms and inside bars to open). Members engaged in virtual wine tastings, Mother’s Day and Easter were drive by pick-ups, accommodating as many as a seated affair. We did our best with fun and games by the pool for during our usual summer holidays such as Memorial Day and Labor Day. I don’t know what I can say about 2020 that Members have not said or thought about, but staff and the Board are committed to making GCC move in the right

Page 2

direction by adapting, being flexible and maneuvering in today’s new world. Interestingly, when we speak to our counterparts, they are saying the same things - Clubs are now more relevant than ever before. Why? Because we are a community and we are safe. The Club is sanitized with care, staff is monitored for COVID-19 and measures are put into place for meaningful reasons. You know who your neighbors are and where they have been. This is important now for many reasons, it is your safe place, and we are pleased and happy to make it so. The next phase that GCC will tackle is renovation. In the next few weeks you will see regular communication about “Construction News.” These will be updates sent out separately via email and also housed on the website under the "Renovation" tab. Always keep me informed, and stop me when I manage by walking around. Stay safe and be well! Sincerely, Terra S.H. Waldron, CCM, CCE General Manager/COO

Celebrate the release of Beaujolais nouveau! The official release date is Thursday, November 19th, and we will be offering two special Beaujolais selections between November 19th and November 21st to mark the occasion! Beaujolais is the name of a little area in France just south of Burgundy that makes wine with Gamay grapes. It’s one of the few wine regions of France that doesn’t take itself too seriously. Beaujolais produces very interesting, deeper and more ageable wines beyond the heavily marketed Beaujolais nouveau "baby wine."
