Greensboro Country Club November | December 2021

General Manager/COO's Message (336) 275-8506

Dear Members, The holidays are upon us, and there are so many great events happening around the Club. Although we have a few challenges during this unique time in our history, we will continue to move forward to provide Members with the best our Club has to offer. Whether it is golf, tennis (new pickleball courts!) or our wonderful dining experiences, there is always something happening at GCC! The GCC Membership has been so supportive and understanding of the challenges we - as a Club and as a country - are facing. There are staffing issues, supply chain shortages, increasing prices - just to name a few. A sincere thank you does not express the gratitude felt by those who have supported the Club in the most trying of times. We appreciate your patience!

Another trend where we are still challenged (as others in the nation), is supply chain - which touches every aspect of GCC. The ordering of food and products is proving to be a large obstacle. Where your help is needed is in the area of private events and planning parties. Most of our deliveries come from Raleigh or Charlotte, and they now only deliver on certain days. If you are planning a menu for a party, the items need to be ordered well in advance, as some are not available with a day or two notice. Sometimes we receive substitutions which creates hardship and, in turn, unhappy members. Please work with staff to plan in advance, as we are doing our best to work with limitations of many different suppliers.

However! With so many wonderful happenings around the Club and a beautiful renovation occurring around us, we will not be discouraged, and will continue to strategize for ways to engage members, new staff and I am pleased to report we have not needed to reduce be ready for the future! services in either location to this point. However, I would like to make an acknowledgement that in order I look forward to your continued support and we will to accomplish not reducing services, staff and manage- keep you informed. ment have worked double shifts mowing grass, cleaning carts, answering phones and waiting on tables. So Warm personal regards, when you see your staff, thank them! Along the same theme, we are able to continue with many of the tried- Terra S.H. Waldron, CCM, CCE and-true events while adding a few new twists. When General Manager/COO events are sold out many times we can add another day. We are committed to serving the wonderful Membership at GCC! November | December 2021

In This Issue...

In order to attract new staff and retain our current staff, the Club has added incentives, increased compensation, and last summer the Board approved hiring children of Members. This has helped. But we are still challenged with retaining new staff members after they begin in their positions, as well as having prospective staff members not even show up for scheduled interviews. As I am sure you are aware, this is a trend across the country in all facets of industry.
