EDITORS LETTER The suffocation we feel during the summer and our urge to escape from the summer heat inspired the theme of this issue. The relief that we feel when escaping from our daily routine and doing something new or out of the ordinary is what summer is about. This theme is translated into a literal interpretation throughout our editorials. The models become androids ready to get released and discover the unknown. The freedom and relief they experience after escaping the suffocation, the fear and excitement of the unknown construct a narrative that exposes the theme. The way we used nylon to confront the phobia of drowning maximized the urge to free themselves having to face the unknown. For the design section we decided to use simple tables made from untreated wood. The purity of the wood in conjunction with the rigid minimalistic shapes denote a sentiment of discovery. Having to confront the unknown that awaits our Country due to the economic crisis and along with the resent events, our art section is dedicated to local talents / artists. ARISTOS CHRISTODOULOU

SUFFOCATION The Suffocation we experience during summer forces us to break free from our daily routine. Through this editorial we wanted to create a summer mood that is more relaxed but interesting at the same time. Most summer collections has been total white, but we wanted to create looks that utilize all the summer trends. The heat of summer pushes us to wear less and less. Layering is a key factor for the summer, since its too easy to create a flat dimensional outfit. UNKNOWN Exploring the unknown is what inspired this editorial. Three Floor collection, especially the dresses inspired us to create a story based solely on them. The mixture of sci-fi elements and classic fabrics along with their unique shapes allowed us to create our story. Electric colours with structured and classic elements and graphic stripes are all the key elements that you need for your summer party-dress.

EXPLORATION Summer is all about exploration, we explore new places and we seek adventures. Living in the city feels like you are trapped in a metal waste land suffocated and wanting to escape. Sometimes you may find hidden treasures in this wasteland, however you firstly have to explore what you have and then move on to something new. For this editorial we formed a black coloured story that focuses on light materials and unconventional shapes.

WOOD WOOD In contrast to the synthetic materials that set up the theme for this issue, we have reworked the classic coffee-book table in two simple natural wood versions. A dark mansonia wood in strict straight lines for a more minimal solid look; and the light coloured Swedish pine with more streamlined legs and edges for a lighter, elegant charm.

DIY CYPRUS The role of the artist and of art is generally to analyze, to judge and question what is happening in the society and stand with “courage” against social events, establishments and circumstances and with his produced work to pose questions to the wider society. However, the awakening of the community is and always has seemed to be a difficult task especially in a period where our ‘accommodation’ prevailed our daily lives. In an era where even the artwork had fallen into symbols of economic status. The primary role of art cannot be decorative but to function as a mirror of social evolution. The art should act as enlightenment for a clean and modern society highlighting our progress as a country and everything that is wring leading to the wrong paths. Isnotgallery after the tragic events that occurred in our country, invited artists to create works that highlight our mistakes but will work with the purest feelings towards our bad habits that we recommend in most cases to the public having as an ultimate purpose of decorative and commercial value alone.
