USE YOUR SKILLS TO HELP OTHERS MEDICAL INTERPRETER — SPANISH/ENGLISH GTCC offers a Quick Careers Medical Interpreter program for Spanish/English bilingual students looking to enter a career in healthcare helping patients communicate with medical professionals. The program features a series of courses to prepare students for earning professional certification and an in-depth understanding of medical terminology across both languages. – 192-hour program covers terminology, national standards and ethical practices as well as practice with case studies. – Students who successfully complete all of the courses in the program are eligible to sit for the National Healthcare interpreter Certification Exam to become a Certified Healthcare Interpreter (CHI). TAKE YOUR BUSINESS FURTHER BUSINESS AND INDUSTRY TRAINING Business and Industry Training at GTCC is designed to support the ongoing training and success of area businesses. By offering a broad range of courses, GTCC can build a custom program to identify skills gaps and tailor content to meet your objectives through interactive, engaging learning experiences. – Available courses include training in leadership development, effective communication, OSHA and safety standards, logistics/supply chain enhancement, technical skills and other programs to help improve processes, technology and employee knowledge. – Training is available on campus or on-site at your Guilford County location. – Companies in manufacturing, technology, warehousing/distribution, life sciences, aviation and customer service may be eligible for state-funded customized training. BUILD TOWARD A STRONGER FUTURE INTRODUCTION TO CRAFT SKILLS FOR CONSTRUCTION This program introduces students to skills and tools that will help them get started in the construction industry. The training includes hands-on experiences and quality, professional instruction as a foundation for many of the construction trades. – 115-hour training provides an introduction to construction math, hand tools, power tools, construction drawings, basic rigging material handling, carpentry, plumbing and electrical trades, along with basic communication and employability skills. – Students in the program are eligible to earn industry-recognized core credentials through the National Center for Construction Education and Research (NCCER). KEEP RESIDENTIAL BUILDINGS RUNNING SMOOTHLY APARTMENT MAINTENANCE TECHNICIAN New maintenance professionals or experienced employees can both use this training to build on their knowledge and skills. Structured around the industry-standard Certificate for Apartment Maintenance Technicians (CAMT) exam, the program includes hands-on, classroom and online components. – 96-hour training covers maintenance and repair of interior and exterior structures, electrical systems, plumbing, HVAC and appliances; as well as safety, emergencies, project management and more. – Course accredited by the American National Standards Institute (ANSI), and designed by the National Apartment Association Education Institute (NAAEI). – Students are eligible to take the CAMT exam at the end of the course.
