As the month of August is passing by, our club decided to include another service activity for our members to use for their service hours. In this certain event, our Key Clubbers will be walking around their neighborhoods or parks with a trash bag and some gloves, searching for any signs of street litter to clean up. So far, here’s one of our Key Club officers, who is our President, participating in this task for her service hours, and the bettering of our community so it can at least appear cleaner than it was before.
During our First general meeting, our club president got to present our incoming members of what Key Club is about and how to get involved in the club. After the presentation was done, our Key Club got to do a virtual ice breaker where we all got to play a game called, “scribbl.io” and got to participate on guessing each members drawing (Just like pictionary) in a fast pace before their time is up and it’s the other player’s turn to have their drawing guessed. The members, along with the officers and our Key Club advisor seemed to enjoy themselves with the icebreaker until eventually, the meeting had to end.
Our Club’s Division Spirit Weeks were a fun experience for our members to participate in. So far for our first spirit week of service events, our members got to participate in making dog toys, Plarn (plastic yarn in which is very useful for thermal blankets for the cold), walk or run a mile for charity, do chalk art and end the first service week by coloring in a smile for fun. Then for our second spirit week of service, our club’s division got to participate in the same things done from the past week’s service events, except for we then got to participate in food, clothes and other goods to donation centers, write thank you cards for essential workers and then give our community a nice makeover by cleaning up its trash polluted in its streets. The D28E Spirit Weeks were filled with many Service opportunities for our members to attend and to complete the service events, we also got to attend the live videos from our LTG, Lorelei Casillian in the @d28e Instagram account so she can teach us some tutorials on how to do some handmade craftings to make our service events much easier and more fun to attend. Here’s some pictures of the activities done for the D28E Spirit Weeks events...

For the DCM Meeting, our LTG had some important information to point out to our members, including the topic of Bamboo Stocks, and how to support our club with them. Our DCM also remembered about how the 2 weeks of service went for us all as a division, and what more service events we would want to see and participate on in our division. Our LTG pointed out about using the Love box as a nice thing for our members in our division to be kind and say something nice to each other. So far, our DCM was a brief meeting that talked about service events, and how to be more in touch with each other as a division. What our LTG really wants to accomplish for her term is to have her members and leaders be together and stay connected to each other as a division whole.
Welcome Back Gators! This August has been an eventful one! We had our Back to School General Meeting on Aug. 24 on Google Meets from 2:45-3:30 pm, as well as encouraging our members to participate in the D28E Servin’ It Up in August. Overall, August has been a breath of fresh air & we are so excited to start this new school year! Angel Mascarenas 2020-2021
This Month’s Key Club events were filled with lots of activities to attend! It was exciting to learn many new ways to serve our community by attending the D28E Spirit weeks, and very much enjoyed learning how to make plarn and dog toys. This also has given inspiration for our club to bring up these service event ideas to our first general meeting which we already had on the 24th of August. We’re now encouraging our incoming members to join our club for more service event fun, even though it would be considered a virtual one. I can’t wait for what this incoming school year would bring for our key club, including the new fun events we would bring up for our new members to join. So in other words for our members and new members joining, welcome to Green Valley Key Club, and I can’t wait to do service you all!
