Word from President February I didn’t realize how close to the end of the term we were. We did have many people reach out to us for service events like VEGAS cares for rare 5k run, Cupid run, and 8 news now had a recycling event that we volunteered at. I think for the club it was a good way for people to reel their last few hours they can before the term ended. It’s very sad that our key club term had to end so early but I had a blast as key club president and would like to thank everyone who made my key club experience amazing ❤ I love my club with all my heart and am so confident they’ll do so much more in the next term!

Sincerely, Sarah Pelle 2019-2020 6

Super Recycle Event

When:

February 1, 2020 11:00 am- 2:30 pm

Where: What:

Thomas & Mack Parking Lot

The Super Recycle Event was one of the

bigger service events for our club. Our members had to unload old electronics, plastics, and paper files from the lines of car from community members. The turn out was amazing! Even News 8 came to the event to spread the word. Our volunteer group was separated into different areas of the parking lot to make sure that there was enough people at each station. The volunteer coordinators were very generous and thoughtful for their volunteers by providing protective gear, water, snacks, and breaks. Overall, it was a good way for our members to get their hands dirty and give back to keeping our landfills cleaner. Good Job Gators!

5K Cupid Run When:

February 8, 2020 9:00 am - 10:30 am

Where:

Whitney Mesa Recreation Centre

What: This was one of

our easier events, but still a good one.

We gave our service by handing out waters to the runners after they accomplished the run. There were also archery games for some of the younger kiddos. Overall, this was a pretty chill event and our members would like to attend another in the future. :)

February DCM When:

February 19, 2020 5:00pm-6:00pm

Where:

Valley High School

What: The February DCM was a smaller DCM, but the turnout was positive. Our LTG elect, Lorelei Casillian, took the initiative to ask us all what we want to see and what we don’t want to see in the upcoming term. We played some ice breakers and after wrote to the “Love Box”. The idea is to write something positive about someone else in the room or just something positive in general. Then, at the end, there will be a reading by Lorelei. It was a fun and cute way for everyone to connect with each other. We are all looking forward to the next DCM :)

Vegas Care for Rare 5k Run When:

February 29, 2020 6:30 am - 10:30 pm

Where: What:

Cornerstone Park

At the Vegas Care for Rare 5k Run Event, our

members were spread out throughout the park. Some were running the sig-in booth, cheering on runners, setting up stage props, etc! It was a great way for our members to help out in the community for those who were born with rare diagnosis. Later in the day, our members all met up to cheer on the runners with the SUPER STAR cheer, GOOD JOB cheer, and even singing Born in the USA. Overall, this event was very rewarding and fun. We even got free bananas!! This event put a lot in perspective for our club, and we would like to do more events like this.
