Bulletin Editor Hi Gators, The school year is over and there is only one thing on our minds, summer! It’s time for a well deserved break for all the hard work we have done over this school year and hopefully continue into next year. Though school is out, Key Club is still in session. Remember to be active over the summer, even though we are on our break.
Sincerely, Nick Phillips Bulletin Editor

Kiss A Senior Goodbye May 16-20, 2016
7
Kiss A Sen “For Kiss a Senior Goodbye, our key club decided to make signs for this event, as well as pass out grahams and chocolate kisses. We made the signs by cutting our paper to look like chocolate kisses. This was a cute way of telling everyone to buy a gram to wish a senior goodbye and good luck with whatever they had planned to do after graduation. I thought this was a fun and creative way of showing the seniors we cared about them and wished them luck after they graduated. I really enjoyed contributing to this project. It was a nice way to show the senior class that their friends, teachers, and the staff cared for them. “ -Jenna Maramaldi, 9

ior Goodbye
“As time gets closer, we prepare to say goodbye to our seniors. What's a better way than to kiss a senior goodbye? Key club members stayed after school to help make posters to promote this event which was a success. We made Hershey Kisses cutouts as posters and did some designing. This was a bittersweet moment as it hit me that there was only a few days left before the seniors were about to graduate. Congratulations to all the seniors! “ -Jada Kali Stelmach , 10

Officer “This year, GVHS Key Club held an official officer induction ceremony in the Key Club meeting room. In years past, this ceremony was usually held immediately after member inductions, but this year it was a completely different setting with formal attire and the officers' parents present at the ceremony. I thought that the ceremony was a very appropriate way to introduce the club's new officers and to say goodbye to the IP officers. I especially liked that there were so many parents there; it is so important that parents not only recognize the responsibilities that club officers have, but also that the parents are thanked for helping their kids attend and organize service events. As one of my final Key Club experiences, the officer induction ceremony was bittersweet but gave me bright hopes for the future of this club. “ -Diane Sorkhab , 12

Key Club “The end of the year pot luck is something GVKC has hosted annually since before my attendance and I have participated every year. It's a way of getting together one last time as an ohana and eating food while recognizing everyone. This is a great opportunity to socialize and get closer one last time before summer hits and seniors graduate. This school year, I was one of the seniors leaving, receiving the cord I worked towards for 4 years, and saying my goodbyes. It was a melancholy experience and I am honored to say that I got the opportunity to represent our organization at our graduation ceremony. -Nia Fernandez , 12
Potluck
“Our key club pot luck also ended our year. With senior's goodbyes, and delicious food. Everyone was anticipated for this day, everyone in the club participated. It was sad to leave everyone in that room, just remembering the good time and laughter everyone had. We were all a family and that was special to many of us, so indeed the potluck was a great last place to say goodbye to the seniors and our last chance to hang out with people we love. -Rula Almukhtar , 12

Spring Sports Banquet May 25,2016

Spring Spor t
“This month, Green Valley High School held their annual spring sports banquet, in which key club was able to serve at. The banquet is held each year to celebrate the success and recognize the achievements of our sports programs. At this event, we were responsible for setting up the banquet as well as setting down afterwards. We also were responsible for cutting and serving the cakes that they had. This event provided an opportunity for our club to help out our school and the sports programs. - Nick Phillips , 11

ts Banquet “The spring sports banquet was my first sports banquet that I attended for service so I thought that it wouldn't be too hard. But little did I know that people love cake and it gets tough trying to serve multiple people at once. We also cleaned at the end, but while cleaning I felt very angry at the people who didn't finish their cake. They're just wasting good food. Overall it was fun and tiring. -Philipp Penalber , 10

GVHS Gr “At the event, I showed up at UNLV a few minutes late and was quickly lost. It took me awhile to find what the loading dock was, but luckily found the rest of the group. We handed out flyers in the front entrance, which at first seemed that we had more than enough, until a huge mob lined up at the gate and before we knew it, we were out and consumed four boxes of flyers. Overall, it was a fun experience, as I saw a few familiar faces in the lined up families and to see the lower level of UNLV. For the most part, I handed out pamphlets near the front door saying "You're Welcome" while also trying not to run out of them in my hand. -Troy Galicia, 10

aduation “Our key club contributed to the senior class's graduation by passing out the programs for the event. We handed out flyers to anyone that wanted them. Believe it or not, handing out the flyers took up too 50 minutes because so many people had been there to support the students that were graduating. We eventually ran out of flyers, even though more and more people kept showing up. Having the opportunity to work at graduation was really cool, because I felt like I was working for something much greater than what I could imagine. Seeing all of the excited and sad parents was also something that I won't forget. I was even excited and sad because a lot of my friends had graduated that day, so I know what they felt like. But, getting to see all of the people that came and supported green valley's senior class and there next step in life was a great experience. -Jenna Maramaldi , 9

President’ “With the school year coming to an end Green Valley Key Club got to really wind down and leave on a high note. The Key Club Potluck for the last meeting of the year really gave a great last memory for the members and officers alike to hold onto. During our potluck, we were able to truly recognize a lot of hard work. All the standing members who reached a diligent 50 hours were well recognized for all their contributions this year. Volunteering 50 hours is no simple task. Hence why the standing members are so praised and the seniors are awarded with chords. The board is especially leaving on a high note. Establishing goals and drawing up ideas, the board's commitment foreshadows that next year's term will prove again to be highly successful and innovative.” -President, Mackienzy
