RECAP: RELAY “At Relay for Life South Youth at Silverado High on April 24, we were relocated to the gym due to the weather. Although this seemed like a setback, it felt more enjoyable to be so close to other Relayers. We fundraised all throughout that month for this cause, and our team represented with tutus, tattoos, and our shirts! I recommend this event to everyone.”

Y FOR LIFE “Relay for Life of South Youth was held at Silverado High School this year. The wind and cold weather forced us to move the entire event into the school’s gym, but no one seemed to mind. All of our club’s fundraising through car washes, selling root beer floats, and walking around school in purple tutus to raise awareness had finally led up to the amazing twelve-hour event, and I can honestly say that I did not fall asleep for more than twenty minutes! Even though I got to enjoy a fun night with friends and fellow Key Clubbers, my favorite parts of the event were the ceremonies held in the auxiliary gym. Having lost several loved ones to cancer, it was inspiring and heartwarming to hear of survivors’ stories and struggles. I will definitely be attending again next year.”

RECAP: OTC “O
fficer Training Conference was a great
experience for our upcoming board members. Not only did we do a service event by making cards for returned soldiers, but our former LTG RJ Immerman gave a workshop on public speaking. Our individual workshops were educational, informative, and fun.” — Colin Hoang, 11 Key Club President

O
OFFICER TRAINING CONFERENCE
“I
was extremely happy to help host Of-
ficer Training Conference at Green Valley High School this year. After everyone had arrived, RJ Immerman held a public speaking workshop, and we all learned how to properly greet an audience and hold its attention. We then made cards to send to soldiers and national heroes to show our appreciation for their continuous sacrifice. Finally, we all segregated into our individual workshops. My editor/historian workshop was led by Daniel Lang and Karl Catarata, who gave us valuable tips and tricks for our upcoming duties. OTC taught me lots about my new job as editor and got me super excited for my year in office!”

RECAP:
TEACHER
Who?
Green Valley students & teachers
What?
A week in which GV Key Club made and distributed unique individual cards to every GV teacher.
Where? Green Valley High School.
· 14 ·
14
When?
Week of May 5th-–9th.
Why?
To show Green Valley teachers how much we appreciate all of their hard work!
APPRECIATION WEEK “F
or Teacher Appreciation Week at Green
Valley High School, our Key Club made personal gifts for each teacher, administrator, and support staff member. The gifts we made for them were personalized, handwritten cards and we got each of the teachers a bag of breath mints. We would then put these gifts into their teacher mailboxes. The teachers at our school really appreciate the individualism we put into each card. We plan on using cards again next year and possibly doing even better treats or gifts.”
— Ryan Becker, 10 Key Club Junior Representative
