Winter Banquet

(Wednesday, March 4 @ 5:30 pm - 8:00 pm) During the Winter Banquet, Green Valley Key Club volunteered to help the hosts of this ceremony by serving food for the event. The items mostly served to the audience at the Winter Banquet was fruit punch, and cake. The Key club volunteers also got to see the award winners for the event, as they applauded them for their good efforts.

First Friday!!!.

(March 6 during school lunch hours)

During this First Friday, the school has allowed Key Club to sell walking tacos during both lunches. The walking taco sellers seemed to have some fun preparing the tacos for their customers. There were some customers that did purchase walking tacos, but at the end of the day, there were still a lot of walking tacos ingredients left to serve. So that may mean‌.MORE TACOS FOR THE CLUB!!!

Bark in the Park

(Saturday, March 7 @ Cornerstone park, 10 am 2pm) Bark in the Park was an event where animal lovers get an opportunity to adopt a dog from a shelter, along with many other activities where the park is filled with dogs and people gathered along to interact with each other. Our Key club has volunteered to help in the event by keeping the little children entertained with activities. There were even police dogs at the event, with their police owners demonstrating the audience how it’s like to work with their handy K9 companions..

Up With People

(Wednesday, March 11 @ Henderson Pavillion, 5:30 pm - 9 pm) During this event, there were four usherer volunteers to help seat the audience and hosts. The job was easy for the usherers of the event because all they needed to do is tell the people being seated for the show that they can sit wherever they’d like, as long as it’s not the very front of the stage (only meant for the people with a VIP pass). Some of our members in Key Club even got to host the Performers in the Up With People show for a week! When the volunteers were already done ushering everyone, they were rewarded by watching the Up With People’s show, which included singing, dancing, the introduction of many cultural traditions, and some life lessons through their performing arts. -Note from Editor: “It was the best!!!.”

(Our Key Club treasurer Kayla, hosted a group of performers from the Up With People event).

PAUSE: There has been no further events for Key Club to participate in due to the Mysterious issue of the COVID-19. Because of this, all school activities has been suspended including SCHOOL ITSELF! This may be a hard and historical event for all of us,but this may not stop us key clubbers from being the hardworking/ servicial community club that we’re famously known for! Key club may not be present for this month and the rest of April, but we can all be servicial by helping out our families and neighbors in need. Find the light towards this dark time, and don’t forget to remain clean and sanitized by washing your hands.

Note from President: This March has been a definite learning experience for our club with the Corona Virus Pandemic. Before all the craziness happened, our club volunteered at Bark in the Park, Up with People, and our school’s Winter Banquet and First Friday. Overall, I loved the service events we did and I’m excited to do more in the future, Stay safe, healthy, and inside!

Proud to serve, Angel Mascarenas 2020-2021

Note From Editor: The Month of March had been quite a chill month for me, since I’ve only participated in the Up With People event. The volunteer work was very simple. All we needed to do was to allow the audience to sit wherever they’d like, despite of the assigned seat number that was written in their ticket. It was only the VIP Audience that we needed to usher at the very front of the stage. There was some issues with having the rest of the non VIP audience sit wherever they’d want as some of them still believed that they had to have an assigned seat, causing arguments with the other people supposedly “sitting” in their seat. Those cases were easily fixed thankfully. Anyways, My favorite part of this event is when we got to meet some of the students from the Up With People show that Ms. Santee has once hosted, and they were really nice and fun to be around. Most of all, I really enjoyed watching their performance as we danced along to their songs. The Up With People people are really talented and I’ve enjoyed every bit of their acts in the show. The show even gave us a life lesson stating that we’re here in this earth to serve and care for each other as one human race, despite our demographic differences (ethnicity, skin color, gender, and beliefs). With this, I’ve realized that the shows message reflects on how we are as a club. In general, this event was a very fun night for me and I can’t wait to participate on another event like this again! I was then hoping to participate in other events later in March, but when I’ve heard the unexpected news of all afterschool activities being closed, and then school being closed for the rest of the month, I just couldn’t believe it! This might be a shocking yet historical event for us all. I bet that some of us in this club are sad about the many events for this month and April being closed, but we’re all in this together. We can fight this “stay at home” quarantine boredom by making the best out of it --- by finding activities that our school lives has never let us do. Keep calm, wash your hands, and let’s make the best out of quarantine until further notice. ;-) Sincerely, Kassandra G. Espinoza 2020 - 2021
