GAME NOTES

• St. Bonaventure returns home to face Fordham Saturday afternoon. It will be Bona’s first home game in the Reilly Center since a Dec. 22 win over Binghamton. • The Bonnies were one of only two Atlantic 10 teams, along with Duquesne, to open the league slate with back-to-back road games without a bye last week. SBU has opened A-10 play at home just once since the 2017-18 season. • SBU produced a 9-3 non-conference record, the best for the program since going 10-2 in 2017-18 en route to an NCAA Tournament bid that year. • The Bonnies have produced a winning Atlantic 10 record in eight of the past nine years, averaging over 11 A-10 wins per year since 2014-15. • The Bonnies have won their last six Atlantic 10 home openers. • Charles Pride has just five turnovers in over 349 minutes of game time, ranking 12th nationally in turnover rate. Mika Adams-Woods also has 52 assists against 22 turnovers. • Pride is one of only two guards nationally with over 1,600 career points and 800 rebounds, joining Creighton’s Baylor Scheierman in that elite group. • Adams-Woods has a true shooting percentage of over 66% this season, ranking 41st nationally among all players according to KenPom. • Bona’s defense allows just over 65 points per game, ranking 51st nationally. In the last 10 games, the Bonnies have allowed over 65 points to an opponent just once, that coming in last Wednesday’s 89-78 win at VCU. • St. Bonaventure has played more games away from home this season than any other Atlantic 10 team. The Bonnies have played eight games on either neutral or true road floors, ahead of Duquesne, Richmond and Saint Louis who have played seven each. The rest of the league has played six or fewer games away from home court thus far. Bona is 3-1 in true road games and 2-2 on neutral floors. • The Bonnies enjoy one of college basketball’s greatest home court advantages when

playing in the Reilly Center. Since 2015-16, the Bonnies are 52-14 at home in Atlantic 10 games. • Daryl Banks III is looking to snap out of a shooting slump with no better place to do so than The RC where he has played some of his best career games. Last year, he scored 29 points in the home game vs. Fordham. He shot 42% at home last season. TRENDING NUMBERS 6 – Mika Adams-Woods posted a season-low six points at Richmond last weekend. He has scored in double figures in 10 of 14 games this year. 6.8 – Charles Pride is averaging 6.8 rebounds per game, ranking eighth among all A-10 players this year. Among guards, only GW’s Maximus Edwards averages more (7.0 rpg). 8 – Three Bonnies rank in the top-8 among all A-10 players for a 3-point percentage this season: Adams-Woods (48%, 4th), Moses Flowers (45.2%, 6th) and Pride (44%, 8th). 13 – Thirteen Division I teams have at least four active 1,000-point scorers on their roster: St. John’s (6), TCU (5), Auburn (5), St. Bonaventure (4), Colorado St. (4), Creighton (4), Memphis (4), Missouri (4), Nebraska (4), New Mexico (4), Sacred Heart (4), Tennessee (4) and Villanova (4). 15 – Chad Venning has at least one block in 15 straight games dating back to last year. He also has at least one swat in 23 of the last 24 contests. He recorded his 100th career block at Richmond. 20 – Bona’s bench has been extremely productive so far this season. The Bonnies are averaging 20 bench points per game, a drastic increase over last year’s 11.8 bench points per game and 5.8 in 2021-22. To put it in perspective, in 33 games during the 2021-22 season when the Bonnies reached the NIT semifinals, they registered 190 bench points for the entire year. This year, the team had 265 bench points through just 13 games. 37.5% – The Bonnies rank 30th nationally this season with their 37.5% success rate on 3-point shooting. 77.5% – St. Bonaventure ranks 16th nationally so far this year in free throw percentage at 77.5% on the season. Daryl Banks III is best on the team, sinking 93% of his tries at the line (27-29).

ATHLETES OF THE WEEK This week’s GoBonnies.com Student-Athletes of the Week presented by CPL are women’s basketball senior Claire Cody and men’s basketball redshirt junior Chad Venning. In Wednesday night’s game vs. La Salle, Cody drained four three-pointers on the way to 12 points off the bench. It was her fourth game of double-figure scoring this season and she previously recorded a season-best 17 points in Bona’s Dec. 30 win over Loyola Chicago to open A-10 play. For the season, Cody ranks ninth among all A-10 players in 3-point shooting percentage at over 40 percent. Claire cody

chad venning

Venning dominated in Bona’s big win at VCU last week as he posted his first doubledouble of the season, registering game highs in both points (19) and rebounds (11). He also provided dramatics with a long buzzer beater just before the half to give the Bonnies momentum. His 11 rebounds matched his career high set previously last year vs. Notre Dame. The second-year Bonnie also had 13 points last weekend at Richmond where he recorded his 100th career block and surpassed 800 points for his career which started with two seasons at Morgan State.
