COPING WITH THE SUICIDE OF A LOVED ONE Honor the deceased. Don’t hesitate to share memories, photos and stories about your loved one who committed suicide. The Suicide Prevention Lifeline notes that some people find it helpful to write to a lost loved one, as doing so can provide a means to say some of the things survivors were unable to say before a loved one’s death.

Gabriel David Crissy 02/27/2022 Gabriel was born in Rochester, NY at Strong Memorial Hospital on September 4, 2004. He spent his younger years through middle school living in Avon, New York. As with many children these days, he was able to participate in various sporting activities from soccer to baseball, swimming to wrestling and also taekwondo. He also participated in the drama program while there. His family relocated to Denver, NC in 2018 and he was most recently a member of the choir and drama programs at North Lincoln High School. Yearly trips to the Adirondacks were a highlight of Gabriel’s summers where he thoroughly enjoyed kayaking, canoeing, fishing and hiking. In North Carolina, he enjoyed hosting his friends at his home where Nerf wars went on for hours, grappled each other in the sand pit and conversational campfires. At family events, Gabriel relished the role of activity coordinator with his cousins. He was active in online gaming with friends and also adhered to a strict Friday night schedule of D&D with his sister and her cohort of college friends. Gabriel was a beacon to so many around him. Holding the door for everyone, asking how your day was and simply going through life with an overall cheery disposition was the face we knew. He was the handshake type to acquaintances but genuine Gabriel hugs were frequently distributed. When he hugged you, you knew how much you were loved. Based on the outpouring of emotion we have seen in such a short time, he touched many lives and his impact will be felt for some time. He is survived by his parents, Nathalie and Luke, older sister, Isabella and grandparents, Mercedes and Edward Hanbach. There are many, many uncles, aunts, nieces and nephews who also grieve his departure. At the family’s request, there will be no formal calling hours. In lieu of flowers, donations to the National Suicide Prevention Hotline would be graciously acknowledged. https://suicidepreventionlifeline.org/.
