Kaartverkoop en informatie De festivalkassa en de gasten-, pers- en informatie balie bevinden zich in het Louis Hartlooper Complex.

Openingstijden: woensdag 18 maart van 12:00-22:30 uur en donderdag 19 maart t/m zondag 22 maart van 9:00-22:30 uur.

Online kaartverkoop U kunt tot 30 minuten voor aanvang van een voorstelling online kaarten kopen. De transactiekosten bedragen € 0,70 per kaartje. Betalingsmogelijkheden: VISA, Mastercard, en iDEAL. Bestelde kaarten kunnen opgehaald worden bij de centrale kassa in het Louis Hartlooper Complex, tegen vertoning van de bevestigingsmail en uiterlijk een half uur voor aanvang van de eerste voorstelling.

Het programma Het Holland Animation Film Festival 2015 begint op woensdagmiddag 18 maart. Tot en met zondagavond zijn van ’s ochtend tot ’s avonds laat rond de 130 voorstellingen geprogrammeerd in het Louis Hartlooper Complex, met een ongelofelijke rijkdom aan films. En activiteiten als talkshows en lezingen, een masterclass en een seminar.

Rond het Louis Hartlooper Complex presenteert HAFF bovendien een internationaal programma met zes installaties in een lint door het hart van Utrecht. Op het snijvlak van ruimtelijke kunst en film zijn de bijzondere animatieinstallaties gecreëerd.

Het lijkt misschien lastig om daar een plezierige route in samen te stellen, maar dat is heel goed mogelijk.

Zo bieden de competities altijd een prima handvat om een toonaangevende selectie van het internationale aanbod te zien.

En daarbij zijn de verzamelprogramma’s met korte films uitstekend af te wisselen met de feature films. Van de lange films is buiten competitie ook nog een aantal topfilms van het afgelopen jaar op het grote doek te zien en enkele documentaires die nog niet in roulatie zijn.

Hoofdthema van het festival is animatie en sport. HAFF viert het vertrek van de befaamde Tour de France van 1-5 juli 2015 in Utrecht met films én een lezing rond sport en animatie, een heel overtuigende combinatie. De dertigste verjaardag van het HAFF is een mooie gelegenheid om de inspirerende voedingsbodem van toen te tonen. Nederland heeft een lange en stevige traditie in animatiefilm.

Merendeels is de goede reputatie verdiend door de korte autonome film. Die is internationaal bekend en geroemd om zijn hoge kwaliteit en had een ongekende bloeiperiode vanaf de jaren 1970, reden voor Gerrit van Dijk om zich indertijd in te zetten voor een animatiefestival in dit land.

Maar HAFF kijkt nadrukkelijk ook vooruit, naar de makers van de toekomst. Deze thema’s vormen een rode draad door verschillende programma’s in het festival.

Programme The Holland Animation Film Festival 2015 starts on Wednesday afternoon 18 March. Up until Sunday evening, from morning till night, around 130 screenings have been scheduled at the Louis Hartlooper Complex, presenting a staggering wealth of films. Besides sundry activities like talkshows and lectures.

Moreover, an international programme of six installations makes up a ribbon through downtown Utrecht. during HAFF. On the cutting edge of spatial art and film, some remarkable animation installations have been created in recent years.

It may seem difficult to chart a nice course, but it is very doable. Take the competition sections, which always provide a nice handle to see a trendsetting selection from the international supply.

And compilation sections with short films can perfectly be combined with feature films. Speaking of full-length films: outside the competition, a number of top-quality films from last year will be re-screened and there are some documentaries that haven’t been distributed in the cinema.

The main theme this year is animation and sports. HAFF celebrates the start of the famous Tour de France 1-5 July 2015 in Utrecht with films and a lecture about sports and animation, a very convincing combination. HAFF’s thirtieth anniversary is a fine occasion to show its breeding ground.

The Netherlands has a long and firm tradition in animated cinema. For the most part, its splendid reputation was earned by the short autonomous film. It is internationally renowned and praised for its high standards and passed through an unprecedented hey-day from the 1970s; reason for Gerrit van Dijk to dedicate himself to an animation film festival in this country at the time. But HAFF also looks ahead, to the talent of the future. These themes run like a thread through different festival sections.

Main programme Het festival heeft internationale competities voor features, korte films, studentenfilms, webanimaties en films voor 8+, en een competitie voor Nederlandse animatie. De prijsuitreiking is zondagmiddag om 16:30 uur in Louis Hartlooper Complex 2. Aansluitend worden de prijswinnaars nog een keer vertoond.

The festival boasts international competitions for feature films, short films, student films, web animations and films for 8+ and a competition for Dutch animation. The awards ceremony is on Sunday 16:30 in Louis Hartlooper Complex 2. Directly after the ceremony the prize winners will be screened once more.

Love Sport: Fencing

HAFF viert het vertrek van de befaamde Tour de France van 1-5 juli 2015 in Utrecht met films en een lezing rond sporten en animatie in samenwerking met Paul Wells van de Animation Academy Loughborough University (VK). Het programma laat zien dat de relatie tussen sport en animatie een goede match is, ze zijn immers allebei op zoek naar de essentie van beweging.

HAFF celebrates the start of the famous Tour de France 1-5 July 2015 in Utrecht with films and a lecture about sports and animation in collaboration with Paul Wells of the Animation Academy Loughborough University (UK). 1980s NL De dertigste verjaardag van het HAFF is een mooie gelegenheid om de voedingsbodem van toen te tonen. Nederland heeft een lange en stevige traditie in animatiefilm. Merendeels is de goede reputatie verdiend door de korte autonome film. Die had een ongekende bloeiperiode vanaf de jaren 1970, aanleiding voor Gerrit van Dijk om zich in te zetten voor een animatiefestival in dit land.

HAFF’s thirtieth anniversary is a fine occasion to show its breeding ground.

The Netherlands has a long and firm tradition in animated cinema. For the most part, its splendid reputation was earned by the short autonomous film. It passed through an unprecedented hey-day from the 1970s; reason for Gerrit van Dijk to dedicate himself to an animation film festival in this country at the time.

Paul Driessen Paul Driessen is een van de boegbeelden van de Nederlandse animatiefilm en heeft er in belangrijke mate aan bijgedragen dat Nederland internationaal een plaats heeft verworven op het gebied van de autonome animatiefilm. In maart 2015 wordt Paul Driessen 75 jaar. Reden te meer voor een feestelijke première van zijn nieuwe film en een overzicht van zijn oeuvre.

Paul Driessen is one of the standard bearers of the Dutch animation film and substantially contributed to the fact that from the 1970s the Nederlands gained international status in the field of the autonomous animation film. In March 2015, Paul Driessen turns 75. All the more reason for a festive première of his new film and a retrospective of his oeuvre.

Wat is dat toch met animatie? In de talkshow Heartstrings presenteren animatiefilmmakers en kunstkenners hun favoriete films. Misschien inspireerden ze om zelf films te gaan maken of is er iets in bereikt waar men zelf naar streeft.

What’s the thing with animation? In the talk show Heartstrings, animation filmmakers and art connoisseurs present their favourite films. Perhaps, the productions inspired them to make their own films or they can relate to their aspirations.

HAFF viert het vertrek van de befaamde Tour de France van 1-5 juli 2015 in Utrecht met films én een lezing rond sporten en animatie in samenwerking met Paul Wells van de Animation Academy Loughborough University (VK), naar aanleiding van zijn recente boek, Animation, Sport and Culture. De relatie tussen sport en animatie blijkt logisch en aantoonbaar.

HAFF celebrates the start of the famous Tour de France 1-5 July 2015 in Utrecht with films and a lecture about sports and animation in collaboration with Paul Wells of the Animation Academy Loughborough University (UK), on the occasion of his recent book, Animation, Sport and Culture. There is a logical and inevitable connection between between sporting practice and animated film.

Om de werelden van de game-industrie en animatiefilmers met elkaar in contact te brengen is er in samenwerking met de Dutch Game Garden een presentatie van Koen Gabriëls en Tim Scheel van Ronimo Games, bekend van de veelbekroonde Awesomenauts (Steam/PS3/PS4/360/XboxOne) en Swords & Soldiers (Wii/PS3/Steam/mobile). Sinds enkele jaren ontwikkelt zich in Nederland een jonge animatie-industrie maar de sector kenmerkt zich door kleinschaligheid. Jonge studio’s proberen de krachten te bundelen. HAFF nodigt enkele jonge animatiestudio’s uit voor een forumdiscussie met de vertoning van hun projecten. Moderator Hans Walther, regisseur en productieconsultant.

For some years now, a young animation industry is budding in the Netherlands, but the sector is characterised by its small scale. Some young studios are now trying to join forces. HAFF invites a few fledgling animation studios to a forum discussion and screens their projects. Moderator is Hans Walther, director and production consultant.

Europese en Nederlandse concept artists, character designers en artdirectors delen hun ervaring met de Nederlandse filmsector.

Seminar in concentrated form about the ins and outs of the design of long animation films, with case scenarios and prominent experts. European and Dutch concept artists, character designers and art directors share their experien­ces with the Dutch film sector.

Shaun the Sheep, bekend van de televisieserie van de bekende Engelse Aardman Studio (een spin-off van Wallace & Gromit, de waarschijnlijk populairste karakters ter wereld in stop motion ooit), heeft nu ook een feature gekregen. Mark Burton en Richard Starzak, scenaristen en regisseurs van Shaun the Sheep Movie, presenteren hun ervaringen in een masterclass voor publiek.

Shaun the Sheep, known from the TV series by the famed English Aardman Studio (a spin-off of Wallace & Gromit, arguably the most popular animated characters in stop motion ever), now has its own feature. Mark Burton and Richard Starzak, screenwriters and directors of Shaun the Sheep Movie, divulge their treasure trove of experiences in a masterclass to a live audience.

KunstStripBeurs (Cartoon Art Fair)

Zaterdag/Saturday 10:00-17:00 Nicolaïkerk Striptekenaars, animatiefilmmakers, illustratoren, game-ontwerpers en schilders presenteren en verkopen hun werk: boeken, prints, originelen, affiches, blaadjes, schilderijen, sieraden, aardewerk, T-shirts en ander strip-gerelateerde waar. Met gevestigde namen, maar ook jonge talenten. Net als voorgaande jaren wordt de StripGrafiekPrijs gehouden.

Cartoonists, animation filmmakers, illustrators, game designers and painters present and sell their work: books, prints, originals, posters, magazines, paintings, trinkets, earthenware, T-shirts and other cartoon-related wares. Participants include both established names and young talents. As in previous years, the StripGrafiekPrijs competition is held.
