Staff Survey Results

Thank you to all our staff who completed the staff survey that was sent out earlier in the year. We are pleased to share with you some of the findings, which help shape how we can continuously improve the way we do things.

From the results it was pleasing to see that White Oak is consistently doing well in areas involving communication, promoting a family-based culture, caring for our staff and supporting a good work / life balance. Areas for improvement include scheduling travel time, a better rostering system and the updating of care plans.

Most encouraging to see was that in many areas, the ratings from White Oak were consistently above the industry benchmark, particularly for job satisfaction and work / life balance.

As we consistently strive to improve as a workplace and service provider, we take feedback seriously and this includes a planned series of next steps so performance can be tracked as changes are implemented

Further details on our planned next steps are in the process of being implemented, and we thank you for helping us continuously improve the way we do things Your feedback is invaluable to making White Oak the best it can be

White Oak pop-up clinic at hubs

a winner

Mobile pop-up clinics were once again set up at our Joondalup and Midland hubs in early May, to administer the flu jab, free for all employees. We had a fantastic turn out with over 40 of our staff members taking the opportunity to arm themselves for the nasty flu season that is already running rampant. Thank you to our amazing nurses for administering the vaccines during those sessions

If you missed out and would still like to protect yourself from the flu, the state government has extended its free flu vaccine offer until the end of June. For more information about staying well this winter and to book your free flu vaccine visit: Staying healthy in winter

WHITE OAK CLIENT ANN CELEBRATES 100TH BIRTHDAY

White Oak client Ann recently celebrated her 100th birthday with a wonderful party organised by her family.

Ann still lives at her home independently and receives home care services from White Oak a few times a week to help her remain living well at home. She is without doubt an inspiration to all of us and manages perfectly well, along with her dog Buster. Ann’s home is currently adorned with congratulatory cards and letters from The King, Prime Minister, Premier, Governor General of Western Australia and other local politicians.

We went to visit Ann to wish her a happy birthday and when asked about her secret to a long and healthy life, Ann said she credits her longevity to a positive outlook on life and walking her faithful companion, Buster. She also finds solace and joy in simple pleasures, spending time in her backyard tending to the fish in her garden pond Ann’s laughter and outlook on life serve as an inspiration to us all.

Intergenerational visit for Villa Dalmacia Day Centre

Villa Dalmacia was a hive of activity recently, when a group of children from a nearby day care centre came to visit attendees at the Day Centre. The children brought along with them some games of bowling, basketball and colouring in, and after lots of laughter and enjoyment they sat down to share lunch together So much fun was had that the children were a little reluctant to leave when it was time to board the bus back home

With White Oak now having taken on management of the day centre, this intergenerational activity is one of many planned activities that clients can enjoy when attending.
