Research One avenue of research I pursued was the formation of language that we use as a way of conversing with others, creating a dialogue. In the British language William Shakespeare was a great contributor to this creating many words and phrases we take for granted today, One such phrase I found particularly interesting was ‘Mum’s the word’. It actually means to be quiet, a phrase I assumed originated in the 20th century, Infact it was created by Shakespeare in 1591. I took inspiration from both modern and elizabethan calligraphy from the time of shakespeare as I felt this was most appropriate.
