PRESIDENT’S LETTER Dear Fellow Members,
We began October by basking in the euphoria of President’s Gay Inauguration and the anticipation of what the Harvard University community can do to address the challenges facing our world. We now enter November reflecting on the horrific events of the past month. As we navigate our feelings during these trying times, the Harvard Club of Boston stands as a safe haven where we all can grant each other grace and have empathy for each other. Our HCB Community is guided by a set of values and affirmations. At the core of those values is our firm conviction to create a welcoming space for all, regardless of race, religion, political beliefs and more. As we prepare for our Member Appreciation Gala - a celebration and appreciation of our members - let’s also remember to celebrate and appreciate each other. “Peace is not when everyone agrees. It’s when we can respect our disagreements and still play in the sandbox together.” From Amy Edmondson to Charlie Baker, to The Head of the Charles, to Harvard Fall Festival, October was a full very schedule of a variety of events. November will be no different, from our Member Appreciation Gala, an Institute of Contemporary Art studio tour, Dinner with the Pitches and Krocs, to the Fab 5, Harvard-Yale Watch Party and Thanksgiving Dinner, there are lots of opportunities for fun. Please be sure to review our Bulletin so you may take advantage of what’s available. Also please review our weekly Club Chronicle for updates to our events calendar along with news from the University. On December 2, Harvard’s Saturday of Symposia returns to the HCB. This year’s program features a keynote address by Sarah Whiting, Dean of the Harvard Graduate School of Design. The Harvard Club of Boston is again honored to be named as one the Top 100 Private City Clubs in the world for 2024 -2025. We are thrilled and proud that HCB has once again been recognized on the global stage for delivering superior service for our members by creating a welcoming environment and wonderful member experiences. Congratulations to our General Manager Steve Cummings and the entire HCB team. The HCB team should be very proud of this achievement. This accomplishment is a testament to your willingness to work hard and do the hard work. Thank you to our dedicated HCB staff for all you do for our members.

When members ask me what they can do to assist the club, there are two things that always come to mind. First, we want to see you at our events. We strive to provide exceptional opportunities for you to participate and engage in the life of our club. Second, spread the word, talk to fellow alumni about becoming members and invite them to do so. The most important asset of the Harvard Club of Boston are its members. Many thanks to all of you for choosing to be members of our beloved Club. As a member of the greatest alumni network in the world, thank you for filling our Club with a spirit of unity and congeniality, respect and kindness. Your loyalty and support make us thrive as a community, onward together. If you have questions or suggestions, please contact me directly via president@harvardclub.com.
