Have fun and move to the music through a variety of exercises designed to increase muscular strength, improve range of motion and enhance activities of daily living. Stream Hike

Sunday, October 9 (1-2:30) Bring your boots and prepare to get in close to the creeks at the Reserve. Find out who lives in the streams and how the environment impacts them. Meet in the CREC lobby.

Annual Great Pumpkin Carve

The Railroad, Reserve and Darby Creek Walk/Talk

Sunday, October 30 (1-230) Rich Kerr will repeat his famed talk and walk on the Railroad Branch of the Haverford Reserve and Darby Creek. He covers historical highlights of the old railroad line and walks to the remnants that remain at the Reserve today. Wear good hiking shoes. Meet in the CREC lobby.

Birch Bark Wreath

Saturday, December 3 (1-3pm) Bring your own pruning shears. We will work with a wire ring, spool wire and Birch branches to construct a unique ornamental wreath. Location: CREC Fee: $5 (please pre- register) Wear appropriate footwear for hikes. Pre-registration is recommended, but not required.

Trail News Mountain Bike Haverford Trails Saturday, October 8 (10:30-12:30)

Ride the Pennsy, Darby Creek, Reserve Trails. Level D+(hills) 8-12mph, 18 miles round trip. Mix of paving, rough terrain, dirt roads- some steep hills and dismounting. Helmets and mountain/ hybrid bikes required. Check website for weather alerts. Meet in front of Skatium on Darby Road

Western Trails Hike Saturday, November 5 (10-12 noon)

A fun hike to the other side of the Blue Route exploring the Western section of Haverford Reserve, passing the remnants of the former railroad trestle and up the railroad right of way. 2-3 miles mostly moderately hilly; be prepared for a few very hilly trail segments. Meet in the CREC lobby.

Ithan Valley Park Hike Sunday, November 13 (10-12 noon)

Explore this little known possible connection from Radnor to Haverford reserve. We will hike south through the park and cross under I-476 along the Bryn Mawr Ave. shoulder to a little known route that leads to Darby Road. 2-3 miles mostly flat; be prepared for narrow, sloped or rocky trail segments. Meet at Ithan Valley Park (entrance at S. Ithan Ave and S. Roberts Rd.)

Fee: $30 for adults ; $15 ages 17 & under This 5k run will take you through 3 miles of beautiful trails in the Haverford Reserve. Great for beginners and seasoned trail runners alike! All pre-registered runners receive long sleeve racing t-shirts. Light refreshments served after the race. Walk-up registration begins at 7:45am in the CREC lobby.

The bird blind behind the CREC was the Eagle Scout project of Jason Buzzell of Troop 19. The bird blind allows visitors to observe birds and other wildlife in their natural habitat.

As our President stated, “Every day, our police officers in communities all over the country dedicate themselves to serving and protecting the residents.” This is certainly true in Haverford Township. 18th Annual Haverford Township Day Run/Walk Begin your Haverford Township Day with a community 5K Run or Walk. In recognition of our theme this year, the money raised will be donated to the National Law Enforcement Officer’s Memorial Fund.
