Race dates: Wednesdays 5/25, 6/29, 7/20 Race time: 7p.m. Race fees: $20/race or $50 for all 3 Day of registration (if not sold out): $25 Race proceeds will benefit the trails in Haverford Township. Trail News Riparian Buffer and Revitalization Grant Haverford Township received a $50,000 grant for riparian buffer and revitalization along Darby Creek and Cobbs Creek from the Community Conservation Partnerships Program administered by the Department of Conservation and Natural Resources (DCNR). The grant will result in the planting of 750 trees and 300 live stakes along both creeks and their tributaries. This project aims to place a much-needed spotlight on riparian stewardship for residents of Delaware County. There will be opportunities for volunteers to help remove invasives and plant trees. For volunteer opportunities visit the Current News Section of the Township’s website for dates, times, and locations. Pennsy Trail Update The long awaited extension to the Pennsy Trail will begin this fall. The extension will include a pedestrian bridge over Manoa Rd. The trail when it’s finished will extend from Eagle Rd to the Llanerch Shopping Center on West Chester Pike. The completed trail will make pedestrian access to Veterans Field, Bailey Park, the library, Middle School and High School much easier and safer.

Volunteer Work Days - Make a difference on Haverford Township trails this year! Calling all volunteers - Haverford Township has over 17 miles of walking trails available to residents in

addition to over 30 parks - we need your help. Some of our parks and trails have been overrun by invasive species such as Japanese knotweed, multi-flora rose, porcelain berry, and more. You can be part of the solution. Volunteers logged over 1,000 hours of their time in 2021. To control the invasive species and plant trees, we need a large network of volunteers. These projects require minimal equipment and zero knowledge. Our trained staff will work with you every step of the way. Volunteer opportunities will be posted on the Current News section of the Haverford Township website. Once you sign up, you will be contacted prior to the event with information about what to bring and where to meet. If you have any questions, email Jesse Hart at jhart@havtwp.org.

Build a Bluebird Nest Box

Saturday, April 30 at 10am

In the 1960s there was a decline in bluebirds mainly because they had no place to make their nests. Bluebirds nested in rotting trees, old fence posts and tree cavities all of which are hard to find now - removal of trees, treated wood and competition for trees all have hurried the decline of the bluebird population. A well-built, well placed nest box in your own backyard can boost the local population. Build your own in this workshop. Limited space please pre-register. Fee: $15/ per kit Ages: 12+
