Note from the Director; The future is looking brighter as we emerge from a long year with the virus. Last year we missed many of the moments that make life special - like playing and laughing with our friends and neighbors, enjoying our favorite recreation pursuits and watching our kids play sports. The Recreation Department Team is looking forward to the return of in person summer camps and programs. As we plan for the summer there will be some accommodations made to manage safety protocols. We will limit our numbers in our playground program and camps to conform to Covid guidelines and keep participants and staff safe. Masks will be required at all of our camps and programs and we will emphasize good hygiene and social distancing. There are many recreation opportunities to choose from this summer. Look inside for our widely popular playground program, sports camps, nature camps, basketball leagues, adventure programs and fitness classes. Sign up for a camp or activity and experience the joy of play and know we are putting you and your child’s safety first. We look forward to seeing you in our parks, playgrounds and on our trails this summer. Life. Be in it. Brian Barrett Parks and Recreation Director

In March 2020 the world closed and we all had to cancel those big events. But now, finally, is the time to start looking ahead. Let’s CELEBRATE. And hopefully you will celebrate with us. Cheers to many fun times at the CREC. We look forward to sharing those special times with you again.

Trail News Volunteer work days - Make a difference on Haverford Township trails this year! Calling all volunteers - Haverford Township has over 17 miles of walking trails available to residents in addition to over 30 parks - we need your help. Some of our parks and trails have been overrun by invasive species such as Spotted Lanternfly, Japanese knotweed, garlic mustard and more. You can be part of the solution. We had over 300 volunteers participate last year in our work days. We have volunteer days throughout spring and summer to remove invasive species and plant trees. To control the invasives we need a large network of volunteers to manage these species or they will continue to ravage our trails and open spaces. These projects require minimal equipment and zero knowledge. Our trained staff will work with you every step of the way. We will implement health and safety guidelines to protect everyone (mask wearing, social distancing).
VOLUNTEER DAYS • Tuesday, April 27 from 12-3pm on Pennsy Trail • Thursday, May 13 from 10am-1pm at Haverford Reserve • Tuesday, May 18 from 12-3pm on Pennsy Trail • Saturday, May 22 from 9am-12pm at Cobbs Creek • Tuesday, June 8 from 9am-12pm at Cobbs Creek • Saturday, June 12 from 9am-12pm at Pennsy Trail Use the link below to volunteer for dates through June. Check www.havtwp.org for dates in July and August. https://www.signupgenius.com/go/9040A4AACAF2CAAF49-volunteer. You will be contacted prior to the event with information about what to bring and where to meet. If you have any questions, email Jesse Hart at jhart@havtwp.org.
