Mission

The Mission of the CREC is to create a healthier environment and healthier individuals through quality facilities, education and programs. We believe the health of our community is directly related to the quality of our air, water and open spaces as well as the food we eat, the condition of our bodies and how we think. Through the variety of programs offered we hope to create a community living room where people of different ages, means and backgrounds blend together.

Who uses the CREC?

Since opening in June 2012; More than 2,000 residents have registered to use the Walking Track. • 70 under age 20 • 350 are age 20-40 • 900 are age 40-60 • 700 are over age 60 • More than 400 people have purchased Fitness Passes. • More than 5,000 have dropped-in for hoops, enjoyed our nature series or, participated in other programs. Our Park Maintenance Crew has instituted an improved maintenance program including aerating, seeding and fertilizing to make our ball fields safer and more playable.

Haverford Township was recently awarded the Green Park Award for environmentally friendly measures taken at Haverford Reserve. Our goal is to expand these initiatives throughout the township including less mowing of passive areas, and planting of native trees and grasses.

Bathrooms The construction of the bathrooms planned for Paddock and Merwood Park has been delayed due to stormwater and sewer issues. They are expected to be installed this summer once the issues are resolved.
