2012 budget finalized By Sandi Kemp HBTSnews.com Homeowners will not see an increase in their assessment fees this year. During a September meeting, the board of directors voted to keep the assessment fee at $365 per lot. However, there was discussion regarding the fiscal responsibility of lowering the assessment by $5 or $10, and not funding the improvement fund or having money set aside for an electronic filing system. The board had previously voted to look into an electronic filing system. Currently there is $141,874 in the improvement fund with $100,000 already allocated toward the solar heating for the lap pool. The solar heating is projected to pay for itself between the third and fourth year and then start saving the association a majority of the $35,000 that is currently spent annually on natural gas to heat the lap pool in the winter months. The association will BUDGET Continued on page 2

BOD votes for a special audit By Sandi Kemp HBTSnews.com The board of directors requested a bid from its outside accounting firm for a special audit of the association’s books. Specifically, the audit will be looking at the books from May – July of 2011. “Due to turmoil and abrupt departure of the general manager and our financial person, we thought it prudent as a board to take a look at what was going on around that time and make sure there is nothing that raises any suspicions or anything that fell through the cracks,”said Board President Pete Peterzen during the Sept. 27 board meeting. The cost of the audit will be about $2,600 and includes mileage and postage for the auditors. When the vote for approval passed unanimously, Peterzen looked at the interim general manager, Jennifer Barrett and said,“Get them to work Jenny, and ask them to dig deep.”
