Una senda triunfadora Como la espuma que deja la resaca de la ola, aún se disfrutan de algunos lujos que permiten los coletazos de los primeros días de un otoño recién estrenado, que en este rincón con unas condiciones climatológicas muy singulares (cosas de las cercanía con el Estrecho de Gibraltar), algunos todavía no abandonan ciertos hábitos más propios del verano. Caprichos y particularidades de Sotogrande y su entorno. Pero el verano pasó y con nota alta. No es bueno mirar hacia atrás porque y ensalzarse de los aspectos positivos, que en vistas generales no fueron pocos: buenos niveles de turismo, ocupación, datos positivos, actividades de renombre, visitas ilustres...porque tiende a perder perspectiva de lo que es rutina y de lo que es recompensa del esfuerzo. Del esfuerzo de mucha iniciativa privada, que tratando de revertir la coyuntura de los últimos años mantiene vivos sus esfuerzos por renovarse y mantenerse a flote. Principal balsa generadora de empleo, todo sea dicho. Unos meses en el que se han conocido nuevos locales, negocios y propuestas, unos con más éxito y otras con algo menos pero un aliciente añadido y distintivo a anteriores veranos. Ni que decir tiene la cantidad de eventos, en su mayoría de

trasfondo deportivo, que la zona acogió durante los meses en los que más suele lucir el sol. Polo, vela y golf, y esa cuarta pata que hace esfuerzos por consolidarse como potencia en la zona como es el mundo de la Hípica. No hace falta recordar todos estos eventos, son por todos conocidos y larga la lista. La consecuencia no es más que una suma de apuestas que por lo general obtienen esa respuesta esperada y el reconocimiento de tales acciones. Sotogrande en este verano, y en especial desde el último año, intenta sumarse a una senda triunfadora y no son pocos los que se suben al carro y aprovechan esa espiral. Es por ello que más que nunca, cuando aún existe nostalgia veraniega y larga espera para el próximo periodo estival, no bajar la guardia. Previsión, organización, planificación, estrategia, producción...todas esas palabras de la línea de actuación de cualquier empresa, colectivo, entidad o institución, son la clave. No es momento de mayores elogios. Es momento de buscar iniciativas e ilusionar con nuevos proyectos que vean la luz próximamente. Que la resaca de dicha ola no sea más que el anuncio de una próxima más fuerte y mayor si cabe.

Winning Ways As autumn begins, we can still enjoy some of the little luxuries left to us in the final throes of summer, like the foam left behind as the waves recede; with the very special climatic conditions we have here (all to do with being near the Straits of Gibraltar), some have not yet given up on habits that really belong to the summer - the little pleasures that are a part of Sotogrande and the surrounding area. But our excellent summer is now over. It is not good to look back and praise ourselves for the good things, of which in general there were quite a lot: good levels in tourism, hotel occupation, positive figures, prestigious events, illustrious visitors... because in doing so, we lose our perspective, and cannot tell the difference between what is "normal" and what is the reward for hard work. There has been a lot of effort through continuing private initiatives put in to staying afloat and to renewing provision, in an effort to overcome the prevailing economic circumstances of recent years – these are the main source of employment, let us not forget. Over the summer months, we have seen new shops, new businesses, and new ideas, some successful, others less so; but they have brought in a distinctive stimulus compared to previous summers. You will need no reminding of the many events on offer throughout

those sunniest months of the year, most of them of a sporting nature. Polo, sailing, golf, and now a fourth pillar: equestrian sports, which have been trying to consolidate their position as a force in the area. No needs to recall all of these events – we all know what they were, and the list is a long one. All in all, they represent an array of projects which have, in general, produced the responses sought, and been given due recognition for what they are. This summer, and especially since last year, Sotogrande has been trying to get into winning ways, and there are plenty of people climbing aboard and making the most of this expansion. That is why, more than ever, when nostalgia for the summer is still in the air, and next year seems a long way away, we must not drop our guard. Foresight, organization, planning, strategy, production... all these ideas taken, central to the progress of any business, group, organization or institution, are the key. This is not the moment to bask in the glory. It is a time to seek out new initiatives and to stir up enthusiasm with new projects to look forward to soon. As the last waves recede, let it simply be a sign that the next one is already on its way – it might possibly be even bigger, and even stronger.

Carta del director Un otoño incierto que solamente el golf lo puede arreglar Hace unos días entramos en el otoño oficial del calendario del hemisferio norte, pero en verdad Sotogrande vive un corte muy brusco entre lo azaroso del verano (agosto) y resto del año, cuestión que a todos nos hace pensar de como poder alargarlo o extenderlo en el tiempo. Nada que ver en el bullicio de terrazas con la tranquilidad de estas fechas. La única salvedad es que se ralentizan en demasía la facturación de los propios negocios, pero para esta situación venimos anunciando desde hace muchos años que lo ideal seria compartir sinergias y generar actividades que acorten plazos y permitan hacer caja entre las temporadas altas. El golf debe ser el efecto favorable, y cuando escribo esto hace tan solo unas horas que Europa le ganó ampliamente a USA en la Ryder Cup, en un acontecimiento estratosférico con millones de hogares conectados y miles de personas en Escocia viviéndolo ‘in situ’. ¡Cómo pasa el tiempo! Se cumplen ahora 17 años de la edición celebrada en Valderrama. ¿Se imaginan una nueva Ryder en nuestra zona? Seria maravilloso, es una maquinaria increíble de generar riquezas y positivismo, y aunque esto no se va a volver a dar en bastante tiempo, no cabe la menor duda que el golf es una herramienta muy atractiva para activar un territorio. Y ahora, en este otoño incierto, un evento de gran calado nos haría un grandísimo favor. Y me pregunto yo, ¿qué hacen las autoridades nacionales y regionales por atraer algún evento importante del calendario de la PGA Europea? Nada, sencillamente nada, ¿por qué? Porque estas acciones no les dan votos. Luego los ves haciendo declaraciones en las ferias de turismo o ante la primera cámara de TV que les invitan a contar lo bueno de su territorio ¿y qué nos cuentan? Que están luchando por sus ciudadanos ahorrando en tales materias y reduciendo en tal partida, mientras seguimos descubriendo casos de corrupción entre la clase política. No señores, ésta no es la solución, sino creas planes de actividades en marcos adecuados no generas riquezas: ni para la hacienda pública ni para los maltrechos bolsillos de los

emprendedores. ¿O acaso Sotogrande no ha demostrado que es el lugar ideal para celebrar un gran evento de golf? No nos olvidemos que en septiembre de 1997 acogimos con éxito la Ryder Cup en Valderrama. Quizás ahora lo que no tenemos es un Mister Patiño obcecado en llevar un magno evento en esta zona, pero nos quedó una Junta de Andalucía que no supo ni conservar lo que ya tuvo: el Master Andalucía Golf, que se nos escapé de entre las manos por no aportar un par de millones de euros como premio, cuestión que se demostró fehacientemente que en Por José Luis García retorno publicitario y de imagen otorgaba muchos millones Editor / Director más. jlgarcia@grupohcp.com Sinceramente, es para plantearse muy seriamente la causa de no promoverun gran evento de golf en este área, y ya van TRES largos años sin esta actividad, aunque nos consta que desde Valderrama se lo plantearon y están trabajando para incluir uno de gran prestigio por estas fechas, pero la complejidad se las debe traer, por ese motivo nos molesta tanto el dejar de ir uno que ya se celebraba en este periplo del año. Mientras, apostemos fuertemente por el golf, aunque sea atrayendo centenares de jugadores amateur que puedan jugar en los mejores recorridos de Europa y pernoctar en nuestra zona, algún recurso nos quedara. Por nuestra parte, esta semana hemos celebrado la ultima prueba regular del II Circuito de Golf La Revista Sotogrande, y el próximo 23 de octubre se disputara la Gran Final en Valderrama entre los treintas clasificados. En próxima ediciones haremos un análisis de la pequeña pero importante aportación económica de este evento al entorno, todo suma. An uncertain autumn that only golf can fix A few days ago we officially entered the northern hemisphere's autumn, and in Sotogrande there is a very abrupt change from the eventful summer (August) and the rest of the year, an issue that makes us all wonder how we can fix this and make it last longer. The tranquillity of this time of year is nothing like the lively al fresco life of the holiday period. The only caveat is that business takings slow down too much, but for this situation we have been saying for many years that the ideal strategy is to share synergies and create activities that mitigate the seasonal nature of the resort and bring in business between the high seasons. Golf has a positive impact and I write this just a few hours after Europe won emphatically defeated the USA in the Ryder Cup, in a stratospheric event watched in millions of homes and thousands of people in Scotland seeing it live. How time flies! It was 17 years ago that the competition was held at Valderrama. Can you imagine another Ryder Cup being held in our area? It would be wonderful, an incredible machine for creating wealth and positivity, and though it won't happen again for a while, there is no doubt that golf is a very attractive tool for the local economy. And now, in this uncertain autumn, a big event would do us a huge favour. And I ask myself, what do the national and regional authorities do to attract an important event on the European PGA calendar? Nothing. Absolutely nothing. And why? Because these initiatives do not win them votes. Then you see them making statements at the tourism trade fairs or in front of the first TV camera that invites them to extol the virtues of their area, and what do they say? That they are fighting for their citizens by saving on these events and reducing the budget for them, while we continue to discover cases of corruption among the political classes. No sir, that's not the solution; if you don't plan activities within appropriate frameworks no

wealth can be created: neither for the public coffers nor for the depleted pockets of entrepreneurs. Has Sotogrande not shown that it is the ideal place for a big golf event? Let's not forget that in September 1997 we successfully hosted the Ryder Cup at Valderrama. Perhaps what we are lacking now is a Mr Patiño intent on holding a major event in the area, but we have been left with an Andalusian Regional Government that didn't even know how to keep what it already had: the Andalucía Masters, which slipped between our fingers because it could not deliver a prize purse of a couple of million, despite the fact that in advertising and branding it brought many millions more. Honestly, we should very seriously consider why a big golf event is not being promoted in this area, and it has been THREE long years since it happened, though Valderrama tell us that have been working on securing a very prestigious event at this time of year, but the complexity make its difficult for them, which is why are so upset at letting one that was held during this period go. Meanwhile, we are firmly behind golf, even if it is to attract hundreds of amateur golfers to play on the best courses in Europe and stay in our area, we still have options. For our part, this weekend we held the final qualifying round of the 2nd Sotogrande Magazine Golf Tour, and on 23 October the Grand Final will be held at Valderrama among the thirty qualifiers. SOTOGRANDE La delegación municipal destaca unas cifras superiores a las del pasado ejercicio y el gran rendimiento del Punto de Información a la entrada de Puerto Sotogrande

Turismo se congratula de un periodo estival de crecimiento en la zona xz M. G.

Un verano turístico “excepcional” en el municipio de San Roque, registrándose un notable incremento de usuarios de los principales establecimientos del sector así como de los servicios prestados desde el Ayuntamiento respecto al mismo periodo de 2013, especificaron los datos facilitados por el Consistorio sanroqueño. Dolores Marchena, delegada de Turismo, desgranó los datos recopilados por la Delegación de Turismo. Así, la ocupación hotelera durante los meses de julio y agosto media en el municipio fue del 67,11% y del 82,36% respectivamente, superando las previsiones y las cifras de 2013, en especial en el segundo mes, mientras que en septiembre la previsión es satisfactoria.

“Según los datos facilitados por el Real Club Marítimo de Sotogrande -continuó la edil-, la temporada ha sido excelente, superando tanto las cifras de 2012 y 2013 tanto en cuanto al número de cursos y de los alumnos matriculados. Una mejora que también se ha dado en lo concerniente al alquiler de embarcaciones”. También destacó el incremento en el número de visitantes al Enclave Arqueológico de Carteia durante agosto (752 frente a los 645 del mismo mes del año anterior). En cuanto a la actividad que realiza su departamento directamente al público, el número de visitas desde el 1 de enero a la Oficina Municipal de Turismo del Palacio de los Gobernadores y al Punto de

Información de Puerto de Sotogrande ha pasado de 2.936 en 2013 a 3.071, registrándose también un aumento de los participantes en visitas guiadas (de 755 a 871). “La información más solicitada en este periodo -dijo Marchenaes la general de San Roque, callejeros, museos, turismo cultural, visitas guiadas, turismo gastronómico, actividades para niños, actividades de las agendas... Pero principalmente las relativas a turismo deportivo y de ocio”.

Tourism is very pleased with growth in the area over the summer period Data provided by San Roque Council indicates an "exceptional" summer for tourism in the municipality of San Roque, with a notable increase in visitor numbers to the main establishments in the sector, as well as in serviceprovision by the municipal council, compared to the same period in 2013. Tourism Officer, Dolores Marchena, presented details of the data collected by the Delegation for Tourism. The figures for average hotel occupation in the municipal area for July and August were 67.11% and 82.36 respectively, exceeding both the forecast and the figures for 2013, particularly in the second of those two months, whilst the outlook for September is satisfactory. In terms of the work her department carries out directly with the public, the number of visitors to the Main Tourist Office in the Palacio de los Gobernadores and the Information Point at Puerto de Sotogrande since January has gone from 2,963 in 2013, to 3,071, with a corresponding increase in participants on guided tours (up from 755 to 871). "The most commonly-sought information in this period," explained Marchena, "is general information about San Roque, street-maps, museums, cultural tourism, guided tours, restaurants and gastronomy, activities for children, activities on the various programmes on offer... But mainly relating to sports and leisure tourism".

Un grupo de ocho periodistas holandeses (de la revista “19 Golf & Genieten” y el suplemento de golf del periódico más importante de Holanda, “Da Telegraaf”) formaron una expedición para conocer de primera mano el alto nivel y calidad de los campos de golf de la zona (muchos de ellos considerados de los mejores de Europa continental).

La comitiva, además de disfrutar de algunos de los trazados de la zona, pudo conocer de primera mano varias áreas del municipio sanroqueño, así como de una ruta guiada de tapas acompañados por un técnico Turismo por el Casco Histórico de San Roque como parte de un visita de familiarización de prensa organizado por la Oficina Española de

Turismo de La Haya (Turespaña Holanda) y Turismo Andaluz. Los periodistas conocieron y jugaron en algunos de los 9 campos de golf (San Roque Club New Course, Alcaidesa Links y otros campos de golf de la Costa del Sol) y fueron alojados en una casa en la urbanización sanroqueña de Sotogrande.

La Asociación Apoyo Mutuo de San Roque presta desde hace un año un gran servicio comunitario de mediación para familias necesitadas

xz Manuel Gil En muchas ocasiones las Redes Sociales van más allá de fotos divertidas y comentarios entre amigos, para dignificar al máximo exponente el valor de su propia palabra y enlazar a personas por un bien común y realizar un servicio a la sociedad, tan necesario en este momento. Así, hace algo más de un año, comenzó su andadura en un Grupo de Facebook la Asociación Apoyo Mutuo de San Roque, que opera ya en todo el término y asiste a demás a municipios vecinos, siendo el mediador entre las donaciones de todo tipo de elementos y el destinatario directo, personas o familias que atraviesan un momento de necesidad. Sólo hace falta cruzar la puerta (todos los miércoles entre las 10:00 y las 13:00 horas, en la que presta su servicio de atención) de la antigua sede del PSOE de San Roque, esperan próximamente agrandar sus instalaciones en los bajos del Teatro Juan Luis Galiardo, para encontrar un abanico de sonrisas y caras amables dispuestas a revertir una situación de angustia en una sonrisa, unas palabras de apoyo y dar solución en todo lo posible al problema de una familia o una persona en una delicada situación económica. “Nosotros recogemos cualquier tipo de donación que quieran hacer.

Desde ropa, de todo tipo: señora, caballero, infantil; juguetes, muebles, coches de niño,...cualquier elemento que se encuentre en unas buenas condiciones y que ya no nos es útil puede ayudar a otra persona”, explica Montse Gavilán, presidenta y fundadora de Apoyo Mutuo. “Yo comencé realizando esta actividad en mi casa, que obviamente se quedó pequeña al poco tiempo, y a través de una Red Social fui conociendo y estando en contacto con personas de la zona que tenían las mismas inquietudes que yo y querían comprometerse con esta tarea tan gratificante. Por desgracia, en estos momentos de dificultad, muchas familias se ven en una situación muy complicada y poder brindarles una mano, un juguete, ayudar a que vayan vestidos de la forma más decente; así como muchas veces un simple abrazo o escuchar sus problemas es una ayuda inmensa”, añade la fundadora. Explica que no existe un “protocolo” como tal a la hora de actuar, todo “se hace y se mueve por el corazón, el corazón de las personas que desinteresadamente se han sumado a este proyecto y dedican su esfuerzo y tiempo a colaborar con una causa que cuando menos nos parece necesaria y comprometida”, comenta. Atribuye a la gran difusión que les permite generar las

Redes Sociales parte del éxito de su cometido. “Muchas veces no podemos, por tiempo, por capacidad, por economía, ayudar a una persona y transmitimos su situación en nuestra plataforma; es impresionante la solidaridad que muestra la gente. Nosotros somos su tablón de anuncios”, detalla. Sobre una quincena de personas colaboran estrechamente con la asociación, aunque de manera indirecta son muchas más las que ayuda, en su labor de recogida de diferentes donaciones, revisar su estado, clasificarlas, conservarlas de la mejor manera y estar dispuestas a cuando una persona llega con una demanda de tal vestimenta, tal zapato o cualquier otra ayuda. “También tratamos de llegar más lejos y conseguir productos como los de aseo personal, que son bastante caros. Hace poco hicimos una tómbola de juguetes a cambio de productos de higiene. Toda ayuda es poca y estamos muy agradecidos a la respuesta de la gente”, afirma Montse. La Asociación Apoyo Mutuo de San Roque, un puente en el que todos las personas pueden posicionarse en un extremo u otro para colaborar de cualquiera de las maneras con un fin del que sólo cabe arrimar el hombro al ver trabajar a esas personas tan comprometidas.

Often the social networks go beyond funny photos and comments between friends to do maximum justice to their name and connect people for a common goal and provide a service to society, which is so badly needed at this time. A little over a year ago, the Apoyo Mutuo de San Roque (San Roque Mutual Support) Association created a Facebook Group which now operates throughout the municipality and helps other nearby areas, acting as a mediator for donations of all kinds to direct recipients: people or families going through difficulties. All you have to do is walk through the door (every Wednesday from 10 am to 1 pm, when the service is provided) at the former PSOE headquarters in San Roque (premises which they hope to expand in the basement of the Juan Luis Galiardo Theatre), to find an array of smiles and friendly faces ready turn a distressing situation into a smile, a few words of support, helping a family or person in financial difficulties as much as possible. "We collect any kind of donation you want to make. From clothes of all kinds: women's, men's, children's; to toys, furniture, prams... anything that is in good condition and is no longer useful to you but could help someone else", explains Montse Gavilán, chairwoman and founder of Apoyo Mutuo. "I started doing this activity from home, where obviously in time I ran out of space, and through a social network I gradually met and was in contact with people in the area who had the same concerns as me and wanted to get involved in this rewarding task.

Unfortunately, at this difficult time, many families are in a very difficult situation and to be able to give them a hand, a toy, to help them dress in a more decent way, or often just a hug or to listen to their problems is a huge help", adds the founder. She explains that there is no "protocol" as such, everything "is done and happens from the heart, the heart of people who selflessly contribute to this project and devote their time and effort to a cause that seems at the very least necessary", she says. She attributes part of the success of her work to the dissemination that social networks provide. "Often, due to time, capacity or economics, we are unable to help a person, and we communicate their situation on our platform; the solidarity that people show is incredible. We are their advertising board", she explains. Fifteen or so people work closely with the association, though indirectly many more provide help, collecting various donations, checking their condition, classifying them, storing them as well as possible and being ready when someone arrives with a request for a certain type of clothing, shoes or any other help. "We also try to go further and try to find products like toiletries, which are quite expensive. Recently we raffled some toys in exchange for toiletries. We can never do enough and we're grateful for the response from people", says Montse. The Apoyo Mutuo de San Roque Association, a bridge where anyone can position themselves at one end or the other in order to contribute however they can, with the aim of supporting these people who are so committed to others.

Los hechos tuvieron lugar el pasado día 27 de agosto, cuando el menor estaba buceando en el exterior del espigón de levante del Puerto de Sotogrande, vigilado en todo momento por su madre que se encontraba en las piedras, siendo atropellado por una embarcación que se dio a la fuga. A causa del atropello el menor sufrió heridas muy graves, permaneciendo aún ingresado en un centro hospitalario. El menor fue rescatado por los tripulantes de una embarcación de recreo que salía del puerto ante la desesperación de la madre que pedía auxilio. Las pruebas testificales, según fuentes de la Garudia Civil, realizadas tanto a estos tripulantes de la embarcación que se cruzaron con la que atropelló al

Más de 1.500 alumnos arrancan con fuerza un nuevo curso en el Valle del Guadiaro con un beneficioso mosaico de nacionalidades

Hace tan sólo unas semanas comenzó una nueva andadura para muchos pequeños y otros no tanto, un nuevo curso escolar. Ríos y mareas de pequeños caminantes arrastrando mochila, o bien colgada a la espalda, de la mano de padres y madres. Muchos de ellos, que cruzarán por primera vez la frontera hacia la enseñanza, la cultura y la educación. Sotogrande, enmarcado en el Valle del Guadiaro, presenta una fuerte comunidad educativa con más de 1.500 alumnos distribuidos entre centros de la zona y varios colegios privados en las cercanías. En le caso del Colegio Internacional de Sotogrande, comenzaron el curso 780 alumnos procedentes de casi medio centenar de nacionalidades diferentes, concretamente 44. Se aglutinan en su mayoría, un 35% de españoles, seguidos de un 32% de británicos y un 9% de rusos como datos más destacados. Mencionar también la

graduación a finales del pasado curso en el centro, que este año comienzan su carrera universitaria de 50 alumnos que se encuentra formándose en varias de las mejores universidades del mundo en Estados Unidos, Inglaterra, Holanda, Australia, Reino Unido y España. Los 270 alumnos en el IES Sierra Almenara en Pueblo Nuevo de Guadiaro, reúnen casi 20 nacionalidades diferentes en la procedencia de estos alumnos, destacando el porcentaje local y el rumano, argentino y británico, como enclaves de procedencia más comunes. En el caso del Gloria Fuertes, suma 535 alumnos, de los cuales 136 (25%) sería de procedencia extranjera, de más de 25 nacionalidades diferentes. Destacan el alto número de británicos, filipinos y holandeses como los más repetidos. En el Colegio Barbésula, que también ronda el medio centenar de

alumnos extranjeros que lo aproximan al 25% del total de escolares del centro. Mencionar también en el mismo renglón los Colegios de Puertoblanco y Montecalpe, en Algeciras, que reciben diariamente a más de 150 alumnos procedentes de Sotogrande, desplazándose el 90% de estos por medio del autobús escolar. Así, como es el caso también del Colegio Loreto, de Gibraltar, hasta el que se desplazan desde Sotogrande casi medio centenar de alumnos, de ocho nacionalidades distintas nada menos, para asistir a clase. Apuntar también el Colegio San José de Estepona, al que también acude un buen número de alumnos desde Sotogrande. Una fuerte y competitiva comunidad educativa, con el gran beneficio y positivismo de la convivencia plural, que potencian el desarrollo de una próxima sociedad abierta de prejuicios y con la mayor de las formaciones.

Just a few weeks ago many little and not-so-little ones started a new school year. Streams of children walked to school dragging or wearing their rucksacks, holding the hands of their mums and dads. For many of them it will be their first experience of learning, culture and education. Sotogrande, nestling in the Guadiaro Valley, has a strong educational community with over 1,500 pupils divided between the local comprehensive and private schools. In the case of the Sotogrande International School, they started the year with 780 pupils of 44 different nationalities. The pupils are mostly Spanish (35%), followed by British (32%) and Russian (9%) as the most numerous. As for last year's graduates from the school, 50 students are beginning their degrees this year at some of the best universities in the United States, England, Holland, Australia, the United Kingdom and Spain. The 270 students at IES Sierra Almenara in Pueblo Nuevo de Guadiaro are of almost 20 different nationalities, with a particularly high percentage of local,

Rumanian, Argentinean and British pupils. In the case of Gloria Fuertes, of the 535 pupils, 136 (25%) are foreign, of over 25 different nationalities. Un verano de buenas expectativas y óptimos resultados aunque sin campanas al vuelo. Durante el periodo estival, comprendido entre los meses de julio y agosto, Sotogrande (incluyendo en él su entorno más cercano de influencia) registró unas fantásticas cifras en niveles de ocupación y del sector servicios, logrando colocar amplios puntos de diferencia en datos porcentuales respecto al ejercicio anterior. Saliendo reforzados segmentos como hoteles, restaurantes, negocios vinculados al golf, sector servicios y de producción de eventos y actividades. Destacar que incluso en los últimos datos conocidos desde el Gobierno Central sobre las cifras de desempleo en el municipio, San Roque, durante el mes de agosto, registró un descenso del 2,31%, lo que se traduce en 95 puestos, dejando en 4.009 en total; fruto propiamente de la buena sintonía de generación de negocio en la zona durante el verano. En cuanto a los niveles de ocupación en la zona, se puede hablar de unas cifras medias totales que alcanzaron el 67% de ocupación durante el mes de julio y de un 82% en agosto, lo que supone un crecimiento respecto a datos del pasado curso, a nivel general, entre el 5 y el 10%. En el caso del Hotel Club Marítimo Sotogrande, se sitúa con una media de ocupación algo superior del 80%, de clientes nacionales, de forma dominante. Mientras que en The Suites at San Roque Club,

también destaca la procedencia de dentro del territorio de sus clientes, manteniendo una media cercana al 80%, con la particularidad de un Turismo también vinculado al golf. En San Roque Club, también son optimistas sobre el inicio de la temporada de golf en octubre, con buenas previsiones de turismo extranjero. Condiciones similares a las que esperan en el Hotel Almenara. Con un positivo verano, alcanzando unas medias de ocupación conjuntas entre NH Almenara y el Hotel Sotogrande entre el 80 y el 85% durante el periodo estival. A renglón seguido de esos datos, se añade la cifra media de una mejora del 10,25%, frente a los datos de 2013, en lo referente a las salidas en los campos de golf durante los meses de junio, julio y agosto, entre los nueve campos de los que dispone la zona. El atractivo calendario, con más de 50 citas en torneos comerciales potenciaaron de forma determinante este mercado durante el periodo estival. También en el apartado deportivo, destacar citas como el Campeonato de España de J80, disputado a principios de septiembre o la XV Regata Copa Sotogrande, en el ecuador de agosto, que potenciaron el atractivo y reclamo de visitantes, participantes, equipos, staff, organización, etc. Datos que repercuten en dichos sectores de hoteles y servicios. En este mismo plano, señalar que las visitas al Torneo Internacional Land Rover de

han crecido exponencialmente respecto a años atrás, alcanzando cifras cercanas a antes del inicio de la crisis aunque la constancia y la continuidad real del mercado a la hora de las ventas no se encuentra en una zona de equilibrio acorde. Pese al incremento de interés por la zona en la actividad inmobiliaria, en la que se cree que los precios no bajarán más, ello no se está traduciendo consecuentemente en un crecimiento de las ventas reales actualmente. Que continúan llevándose a cabo aún de manera inconstante y sin tanto ritmo. Destacar el interés del mercado británico como uno de los más fuertes potencial-

mente en Sotogrande en la actualidad. Respecto a la procedencia de las visitas llegadas este verano a la zona, según datos de la propia Delegación de Turismo local, más de treinta nacionalidades se han dejado ver este verano. El grupo más numeroso es nacional seguido por los británicos. A continuación, los visitantes se reparten principalmente entre franceses, alemanes, belgas, argentinos, italianos, portugueses, irlandeses y holandeses. En este año 2014 se puede destacar un aumento considerable de turistas franceses y belgas, y en los últimos años también de italianos, según constata.

Sotogrande records positive figures for the summer season, although activity in the property sector remains modest The holiday season provides a favourable boost to the local economy, according toTourism and hotel occupancy figures, as well as upbeat assessments from the service sector; but the property market gives little cause for excitement A summer set fair for business, with optimal results, but no gold star. During the summer period – that is, July and August – Sotogrande (including its surrounding area of influence) recorded fantastic figures in terms of hotel occupation and service sector activity, managing to post noticeably better percentages compared to last year, with improvements in sectors such as hotels, restaurants, golf-related businesses, the services sector, and for events and activity providers. The latest data from central government on unemployment also make clear that in August, the municipal area of San Roque saw a fall of 2.31%, which in practice means 95 jobs – leaving 4,009 in total; this is the direct result of a successful wave of business-creation in the area over the summer. Turning to the levels of hotel occupancy in the area, we find average figures reaching 67% occupation during July, and 82% during August, which broadly speaking, represent growth of between 5 and 10% compared to last year. In the case of the Hotel Club Marítimo Sotogrande, figures show average occupancy above 80%, with predominantly Spanish guests. Meanwhile, The Suites at San Roque Club also welcomed mainly Spanish nationals, and maintained their average at close to 80% occupancy, with the added feature of focusing mainly on golf-based tourism. At San Roque Club, there is also opti-

mism regarding the opening of the golf season in October, with predictions of high numbers of overseas visitors. Similar conditions are expected at the Hotel Almenara, having had a good summer with combined average occupancy figures for NH Almenara and the Hotel Sotogrande of between 80 and 85% during the summer period. Following on from this data, we have the figure of 10.25%

average improvement for June, July and August in terms of the number of visits to the nine golf courses the area offers. The eye-catching calendar of more than 50 commerciallysponsored tournaments had a decisive impact on that market over the summer. Also under the heading of sport, due recognition should be given to events like the Spanish J80 Championship, held at the beginning of September, or the XV Regata

Copa Sotogrande in midAugust, which invigorated the season and were much appreciated by visitors, participants, teams, staff, organizations, and so on. These have an effect on hotels and the service sector. The same is true, notably, of the visitor figures for August's Land Rover International Polo Tournament, organized by Santa María Polo Club in Sotogrande, which registered an increase of nearly 5,000

spectators compared to 2013, and more than 17,000 compared to the 2012 figure. In the business and restaurant sectors, assessments in the area point to a slight percentage rise compared to previous years, trending upwards, although concentrated in specific weeks in August as the high points of business activity. The property market presents a calmer picture after the summer. Interest, and visits to the area, have grown exponentially in comparison with past years, reaching figures close to those recorded before the crisis, although the solidity and the genuine momentum in the market in terms of sales does not truly reflect this. In spite of the increased interest in the area in the property market, where prices are not expected to fall any lower, we are not seeing a corresponding increase in actual sales at present; sales are still going through, but the market is uneven and lacks energy. There is notable interest from the British market as potentially one of the strongest in Sotogrande at the moment. In terms of the origins of visitors to the area over the summer, according to data direct from the local Tourism Delegation, we have seen more than thirty nationalities. The largest group was the Spanish, followed by the British. Then came a mixture of French, Belgians, Germans, Argentineans, Italians, Portuguese, Irish, and Dutch, and according to the data, also Italians in recent years.

Bajan revueltas las aguas estos días en el golf andaluz. El pasado 9 de septiembre, un grupo de asambleístas de la Real Federación de Golf Andaluz, que eligieron como cabeza visible para liderar la comisión y candidato al máximo cargo de la entidad autonómica al expresidente del Club de Golf La Cañada, Ángel Gutiérrez, presentaron una moción de censura (la primera en la historia de la entidad andaluza) contra el actual presidente del organismo, el malagueño Ángel de la Riva. Este grupo explica que el motivo de la moción llega por “falta de estabilidad en la gestión de la Federación y el incumplimiento de muchos de los compromisos en varias áreas”, entre ellos con La Cañada en el tema referente al Centro Especializado de Tecnificación Deportiva. Recordar que Ángel de la Riva fue reelegido en el cargo a principios de abril del presente año. La moción fue admitida en la RFGA, al reunir el mínimo de un 25% del total de asambleístas (formado por 60 personas), como recogen los estatutos. Una vez admitida, se celebró, con la mediación de la Junta de Andalucía la formación de la Comisión Electoral (formada por 5 personas; dos miembros de la comisión que presenta la moción, dos de la Federación, y una figura que presida y arbitre, en este caso la elegida fue Casilda Castillejo Oriol). Una vez constituida la mesa que regule esta singularidad, la RFGA tendrá un plazo máximo de un mes para convocar una Asamblea General

Extraordinaria con el único punto del orden día de la citada moción. Serán necesarios 31 votos (mayoría absoluta) de los 60 asambleístas para producir el relevo en la presidencia de la RFGA, cargo que ha ocupado hasta el momento Ángel de la Riva durante 40 años. Entre los motivos que destaca y alega esta comisión para presentar la moción de censura, cuenta con gran peso, el no “cumplir con los compromisos de La Cañada”, especialmente en lo relacionado con el Centro de Tecnificación. La Federación habría renunciado a que fuese el CETD de la Federación Andaluza. Lo cual sería muy peligroso para el desarrollo y continuidad del centro ya que en toda la documentación presentada y aprobada tanto por la propia entidad autonómica, como por la Junta de Andalucía y el Consejo Superior de

Deportes, es su denominación, aval y uno de sus grandes valores potenciales convertirse en el centro referencia y primero especializado en golf en todo el país, en la propia comunidad. Todo lo relacionado respecto al tema de financiación (el organismo aportaría un 10% de los gastos generales anualmente), uno de los puntos en los que la Federación pondría más pegas, desde la comisión se asegura que ni si quieran se han sentado a hablar y negociar y que no ha habido posibilidad de dialogar

sobre el asunto. Además, resaltan la dimisión en bloque del Comité de Pitch & Putt; el despido de trabajadores de la Federación alegando motivos económicos pero incorporando a la vez otras altas; el “rechazo a las normas de transparencia”; reducción presupuestaria en el golf base o la disminución de la cuarta zona del Pequecircuito, entre otras. Respecto a la baza de Ángel Gutiérrez, expresidente del Club de Golf La Cañada, como candidato a la presidencia en el

caso de salir favorable la moción de censura, se explica que no es una proposición de La Cañada, como tal, es el fruto de varias reuniones y acuerdos entre varias personalidades del golf autonómico y miembros de esta comisión, que acordaron fruto de las circustancias actuales, aunar fuerzas y decidirse por la figura de Gutiérrez. Por el otro lado, El Periódico de Sotogrande se ha puesto en contacto con estamentos de la Real Federación Andaluza de Golf que han declinado hacer algún tipo de aclaración o valoración hasta la celebración de dicha Asamblea y la votación, ya que será en dicho foro en el que realice las anotaciones que crea oportunas. En los próximos días se tendrá conocimiento de la fecha en la que se celebrará la Asamblea Extraordinaria para decidir el futuro de la Federación Andaluza de Golf.

Seismic upheaval in the Federación Andaluza de Golf, linked to the CETD Training Academy at La Cañada An Extraordinary Meeting, in the next few weeks, will vote on a motion of censure against the current leader of the organization, Ángel de la Riva, who may be replaced by Ángel Gutiérrez, ex-president of La Cañada Shock waves are currently resounding through the world of Andalusian golf. On 9th September last, a group of assembly members at the Real Federación de Golf Andaluz, who have selected the ex-president of La Cañada Golf Club, Ángel Gutiérrez, as their public face and candidate for the top position within the regional organization, put forward a motion of censure (the first in the organization's history) against the current president of the body, the Malagueño, Ángel de la Riva. The group explained that the reason for the motion is the "lack of stability in the management of the Federation, and the failure to carry out many of its undertakings in several areas", some of them involving La Cañada, in connection with the Specialized Sporting Skills Academy, the Centro Especializado de Tecnificación Deportiva (CEDT). It should be noted that Ángel de la Riva was re-elected to the position at the beginning of April this year. The motion was recognized by the RFGA, as it had the support of the requisite minimum 25% of the total number of assembly members (60 people), as stipulated in the organization's statutes. Next, a five-member Electoral Commission was formed, with mediation provided by the Andalusian Regional Government; this consists of two members of the commission presenting the motion,

two from the Federation, and one person to preside and arbitrate – in this case the person chosen was Casilda Castillejo Oriol. With the Commission that will rule on this singular issue now established, the RFGA will have a maximum period of one month to call an Extraordinary General Meeting, at which the only agenda item will be this motion of censure. In order to bring about a change of president at the RFGA, a position held by Ángel de la Riva for the last 40 years, the motion will need to secure 31 votes (an absolute majority) from the 60 assembly members. Among the reasons highlighted by the commission for tabling this censure motion, one that carries particular weight is an allegation of "non-fulfilment of the undertakings given by La Cañada", particularly in relation to the Skills Academy (CETD). The Federation appears to have withdrawn its role as CETD of the Federación Andaluza, which would pose a great danger to the development and continued existence of the Academy, since in all of the documentation submitted – and approved by the Federación Andaluza, the Andalusian Regional Government, and the National Sports Council (Consejo Superior de Deportes) – the naming of La Cañada acts as a guarantor of the project, and

one of its greatest potential assets, which would allow the Academy to become a model of its kind, and the first in the country to specialize in golf, right here in Andalusia. On the financial aspects of the matter (the CEDT is expected to represent around 10% of the annual general expenditure), an area with which the Federation appears to take most issue, the commission has stated that they have not even sat down and talked about or negotiated anything, and that there has been no opportunity to discuss the matter. In addition, they point out – among other things – the mass-resignation of the Pitch

& Putt Committee, the sacking of Federation employees on economic grounds while simultaneously taking on new staff, the "refusal to meet standards of transparency", and the budget reduction in the basic golfing budget, as well as in the fourth area of the children's golf course, Pequecircuito. Regarding the emergence of Ángel Gutiérrez, ex-president of the Club de Golf La Cañada, as candidate for the presidency in the case of the censure motion being successful, they say that it is not a proposal from La Cañada, as such, but the result of a several meetings and agreements between a number of golfing

figures in the region and members of this commission, who have agreed, given current circumstances, to join forces behind Mr. Gutiérrez. El Periódico de Sotogrande, meanwhile, has been in contact with the higher echelons of the Real Federación Andaluza de Golf, who have declined to make any kind of statement or assessment of the situation before the forthcoming meeting and vote are held, as that is where they intend to make any comments they believe to be necessary. The date of the Extraordinary Meeting to decide the future of the Federación Andaluza de Golf will be announced in the coming days.

El equipo de Gobierno del Ayuntamiento de San Roque presentó, a gran escala, la elaboración del Presupuesto General del Municipio para el próximo ejercicio de 2015, cuya aprobación, que aprobó el Pleno Ordinario del mes de septiembre con la abstención de USR y PP, con una cifra igual en las partidas de ingresos y gastos de 55.096.000 euros. El desglose presupuestario es de 48 millones para el propio Consistorio y los casi 7 restantes para las empresas municipales Emroque, Emadesa, Multimedia y Amanecer. En el apartado de Gastos, el presupuesto se cuenta bajo el techo establecido por el Gobierno Central, en una línea de austeridad que marca el incremento de este permitido en un 7,1%. El primer edil reclamó que no ser por dicho “encorsetamiento” habría una mayor partida de inversiones y programas. En Gastos se destacan tres puntos fundamentales: Gastos de personal, el cual disminuye hasta unos 280.000 euros, sin contar con nuevas plazas a excepción de aprobarse una (Inspector Policía Local). Una

reducción respecto al pasado ejercicio de 700.000 euros en servicios, “basados en la eficiencia y control de gastos”, según detallaron los presentes; y una partida de inversiones de 2,4 millones de euros para inversiones, destinado a las demandas de ciudadanos entre las que se incluyen las revisión de diversas instalaciones deportivas en barriadas y un tercer plan de asfaltado. El primer edil incidió en la apuesta por el empleo público para familias necesitadas, aumentando el presupuesto de 500.000 euros del pasado ejercicio (61 plazas) a 575.000 euros que ayudarían a contar con 81 puestos de trabajo estacionales. Respecto al apartado de Ingresos, destacan fundamentalmente la “Justicia Tributaria”, por la suma del padrón y catastro, el cual según informó Mayoral, en los últimos años debido a las constantes actualizaciones había logrado crecer “de 18 millones a 33”. Resaltar en el apartado de ingresos la aprobación de una Ordenanza Fiscal que supondría un descenso en las tasas del Impuesto sobre Bienes e

Inmuebles (IBI) del 0,475 al 0,44. Para cerrar, el edil de Hacienda, Jesús Mayoral (PIVG), destacó su “satisfacción por el presupuesto y la capacidad para hacer inversiones y bajar los impuestos”. “Con nuestro plan de ajuste (hasta 2023), que podría estar cumplido en 6 ó 7 años. y una buena eficiencia de gestión y control de gastos no tendría que ser necesario ninguna subida de impuestos”. En Pleno se discutieron, por parte de la oposición y del propio PIVG el no incluir en el presupuesto una partida para la compra de los cuarteles en Torreguadiaro, que se utilizan como aparcaminto, pero que en líneas generales es un “muy buen presupuesto, ajustado” y que pone en común los diferentes puntos de vistas de un equipo de gobierno plural por los grupos que lo forman actualmente.

San Roque government team approves General Budget for 2015 The San Roque municipal government team recently presented the new General Municipal Budget for the 2015 financial year, which was subsequently approved in the September plenary session despite the abstention of the USR and PP. Total incomings and outgoings both amount to ¤55,096,000. The budget comprises ¤48 million for the municipal government itself, with the remaining ¤7 million for municipal companies Emroque, Emadesa, Multimedia and Amanecer. Regarding expenses, the municipal budget is included under the umbrella of the central government, with austerity measures restricting any increase to 7.1%. The mayor pointed out that, had it not been for this “straitjacketing”, more investments could have been made. Expenses fall into three main categories: staff costs, which this year have been reduced to around ¤280,000, not including any new positions unless one is approved (local police inspector); service expenses, which have been reduced to ¤700,000 through “efficiency measures and expense control” according to the council; and finally, ¤2.4 million has been allocated towards investment in requested projects such as the revamping of various local sports facilities and a third asphalting programme. The mayor also made a new commitment to employment

for families in financial need, increasing the budget for this programme from ¤500,000 last year (covering 61 positions) to ¤575,000, which will cover 81 seasonal positions. The main source of income will be from “fair taxation”, from the combination of the census and the land registry, which, according to Councillor for the Treasury, Jesús Mayoral, has grown “from 18 million to 33 million” over the past few years, owing to constant development. It is worth noting the approval of a tax ordinance that will lead to a decrease in land value tax (IBI) from ¤0.475 to ¤0.44. To close, Councillor for the Treasury, Jesús Mayoral (PIVG), highlighted his “satisfaction with the budget and the scope to make investments and lower taxes”. “With our austerity plan in place (until 2023) that could be successful in 6 or 7 years, along with efficient management and spending control, we do not believe that any increase in taxes will be necessary.” In the plenary session, the PIVG and its opposition discussed the fact that no part of the budget had been assigned for the buying of the land around the old Torreguadiaro barracks that is currently used for car parking. However, overall both sides were in agreement that it was a “very good, efficient budget” and that it brought together the diverse points of view within the makeup of the current government team.

Tras el anuncio antes del inicio del verano, fruto de dicho ‘pacto’ entre el Partido Popular de San Roque (PP) y Unidad por San Roque (USR), de Marina García como candidata por los Populares a la Alcaldía de San Roque y la noticia de la pasada semana de que Juan Serván sería el líder del Partido Andalucista sanroqueño y candidato a las Municipales de 2015; el último en confirmar y postular su candidatura (en este caso por el PSOE), fue el actual alcalde de San Roque, Juan Carlos Ruiz Boix. El actual primer edil y secretario general del PSOE sanroqueño, Juan Carlos Ruiz Boix, trasladó a la Comisión Ejecutiva Local su predisposición para ser el candidato a la Alcaldía en las próximas elecciones municipales de mayo de 2015. El alcalde de San Roque obtuvo el aval del Comité Local del PSOE y esta semana explicará a los militantes de las tres agrupaciones socialistas del

municipio su proyecto de cara a conseguir los avales necesarios para presentar su candidatura dentro del proceso de primarias que acaba de comenzar. Ruiz Boix explicó que el proyecto político de izquierdas, que se inició en 2011 requiere de un mínimo de ocho años de gobierno para ser culminado, ya que en algunas cuestiones “sólo se han puesto los cimientos”. Por ello, en los próximos días pedirá a los militantes que vuelvan a depositar su confianza en él para poder concurrir de nuevo a las urnas y lograr el apoyo mayoritario de los sanroqueños. Por lo que a la falta de la confirmación del candidato por parte del PIVG, el resto de grupos políticos que cuenta con representación en esta legislatura en el Consistorio sanroqueño ya habrían puesto las cartas sobre la mesa y anunciado sus candidatos. Quizás, éste último (Juan Carlos Ruiz Boix, PSOE) se trata del menos sorprendente o que

menos revuelo conlleva. Ya que por un lado, tras la renuncia a estar en primera fila de USR de José Antonio Ledesma la pasada primavera, los contactos de acercamiento entre USR y PP se sellaron con el nombramiento de una candidata conjunta para las próximas Municipales, Marina García. Por otro lado, tras la dimisión y renuncia a su Acta de Concejal de Manuel Melero (PA), el grupo andalucista vivió unas semanas llenas de incertidumbre, que acabaron con José Vera y Pilar Núñez, que relevó a Manuel Melero en el equipo de gobierno, ambos en posición de No adscritos en la Corporación Municipal, tras tomar el control de la Ejecutiva Local una gestora. Situación que regresa a la normalidad con el nombramiento de Juan Serván. Por lo que se asegura una gran maratón de aquí a las Elecciones Municipales de 2015 por conseguir el gobierno sanroqueño.

La presidenta de la Junta de Andalucía, Susana Díaz, anunció en el Debate sobre el estado de la Comunidad andaluza, en uno de sus turnos de intervención, anunció que antes de finalizar el año se retomarán las obras del Hospital de La Línea, que presta atención a los ciudadanos sanroqueños en su área. Un anuncio esperado, que ya

se comprometió a llevar a cabo la principal regidora autonómica en su visita al municipio linense a final es de verano y que durante la primera semana de septiembre confirmó que llevaría a cabo a lo largo del próximo curso político (entendiéndose que éste comienza a final del verano). Pues durante una de las primeras intervenciones en el Parlamento, concrretamente el punto 13 de las 25 propuestas de la presidenta, Díaz anunció que antes de final del presente

año, ya se retomarán las obras del hospital, respondiendo así a una de las mayores demandas de la comarca y que tras llevar ‘congelada’ más meses de la cuenta, necesita para servicio de la ciudadanía estar operativo lo antes posible.

Los padres del CEIP Barbésula piden mayor seguridad en el transporte escolar La Asociación de Madres y Padres de Alumnos Cañahonda, del CEIP Barbésula de San Enrique de Guadiaro, manifestaron su descontento por la falta de seguridad en el autobús que realiza el servicio de transporte escolar de los alumnos. La AMPA explica que ya son varias las familias que se han quejado de la ausencia de cinturón de seguridad en los asientos del autobús. La entidad afirma que lo ha puesto en conocimiento en varias ocasiones de al Junta de Andalucía. El autobús, por fecha de matriculación, no estaría obligado a llevarlo aunque al ser utilizado por niños de Infantil, la preocupación de las familias es considerable. Los padres esperan que próximamente se tome alguna o medida o pueda cambiarse el autobús.

Parents at Barbésula Primary School call for improved safety in school transport The Cañahonda Parents' Association of Barbésula Primary School in San Enrique de Guadiaro expressed their dissatisfaction over the lack of safety on the bus that provides students with school transport. The Parents' Association (AMPA in Spanish) explained that a number of families have complained over the absence of seatbelts on the bus. They claim they have made this known to the Andalusian Regional Government on various occasions. While the bus is not obliged to provide seatbelts due to when it was registered, there is considerable concern among parents as it is being used by children under six years of age. The parents hope that measures will be taken soon, whether installing seatbelts or changing the bus.

Road Surfacing Plan 2014 - work carried out in Pueblo Nuevo de Guadiaro

La calle Blanca de Pueblo Nuevo Guadiaro fue la primera del casi medio centenar de calles que se van a asfaltar en todo el municipio de San Roque dentro del Plan de Asfaltado 2014. Técnicos municipales realizaron durante los primeros meses del año visitas a todas las barriadas del municipio al objeto de elegir las calles que se encontraban en peor estado, teniendo en cuenta también cuáles eran las más transitadas. Con estos datos se elaboró un listado de vías en las que era necesario el asfaltado de manera urgente preparándose el contrato del “Plan de Asfaltado 2014: Refuerzo de Pavimentación con Aglomerado Asfáltico en Varias Calles del T.M. San Roque”. En total, se actuará sobre 47 calles de todo el término municipal, con una longitud de casi 40.000 metros de firme. El plazo de ejecución es

The plan involves work on 47 streets across the municipal area, with a length of 40,000 metres of surfacing. Work will take place in less than 2 months. Nueva regulación de los paraísos fiscales En uno de los primeros artículos que escribíamos en este medio nos habíamos referido a los paraísos fiscales enunciando principalmente el listado de los mismos. En estos artículos criticábamos la rigidez de las listas y la inclusión de algunos países que entendíamos no se podrían considerar paraísos fiscales. La materia sido objeto de diferentes regulaciones legales hasta llegar a la modificación de la disposición adicional primera de la ley 36/2006 de 29 de noviembre de medidas para la prevención del fraude fiscal. En dicha disposición adicional se establecen tres tipos de países: paraíso fiscal propiamente dicho, país de nula tributación y país con efectivo intercambio de información tributaria. Tendrán la consideración de paraísos fiscales los países y territorios que se determinen reglamentariamente. Aquí hay que recordar que la lista viene establecida en el Real Decreto 1080/1991 de 5 de julio renumerada por el Real Decreto 116/2003 de 31 de enero. 1. Principado de Andorra.2. En el caso del Impuesto sobre la Renta de las Personas Físicas tiene también dicha consideración las cotizaciones a la Seguridad Social. En el caso de un país con efectivo intercambio de información tributaria existirá alguna de estas modalidades: • un convenio para evitar la doble imposición internacional con cláusula de intercambio de información, siempre que en dicho convenio no se establezca expresamente que el nivel de intercambio de información tributaria es insuficiente a los efectos de esta disposición. • un acuerdo de intercambio de información en materia tributaria • el convenio de asistencia administrativa mutua en materia fiscal de la OCDE y del Consejo de Europa enmendado por el Protocolo 2010. A pesar de todo lo dicho anteriormente se podrá fijar reglamentariamente los supuestos en los que, por razón de las limitaciones del intercambio de información, no exista efectivo intercambio de información tributaria.

A country is tax-free when in the country or territory in question there is no identical or similar tax to Income Tax, Corporate Tax or Non-Resident Tax. It is understood that the same or similar tax applies when the country or territory in question has signed an agreement with Spain to avoid double taxation. Outside of this case, a tax will be considered identical or similar if its purpose is to levy income. In the case of Income Tax, National Insurance instalments also have this consideration. In the case of a country with effective exchange of tax information, one of the following modes will exist: • an agreement to avoid double taxation with an exchange of information clause, as long as this agreement does not expressly set forth that the level of exchange of tax information is insufficient for the purposes of this provision. • an exchange of tax information agreement • the OECD and Council of Europe Convention on Mutual Administrative Assistance in Tax Matters amended by the 2010 Protocol. Despite all the above, regulations may be established for cases in which, due to limitations in the exchange of information, there is no effective exchange of tax information.

Junto a ella actuaron alumnas de su academia de baile, acompañada por Manuel Peralta, ya reconocido como la mejor nueva voz por muchas peñas de flamenco, su hermano

Antonio Peralta “El Kuko” a la guitarra, y su amigo “El Chuster” a la percusión. Además, en la plaza de los Naranjos actuaron el Coro Ciudad de San Roque; se escuchó la poesía flamenca llegará de la mano de Juana Mari Moreno, acompañada por el guitarrista “El Lebri”; y se celebró un desfile de moda flamenca gracias a Confecciones Paquita, de La Línea. La bodega “Pinna Fidelis”

ofreció una cata de sus maravillosos vinos y todo se verá coronado por la exposición de cuadros de pintura de Mosayko arte música.

Flamenco on Plaza Los Naranjos

The Sotogrande Cultural Association, in conjunction with Puerto Sotogrande and San Roque Municipal Council, held a festive evening of flamenco on Plaza Los Naranjos with the popular Noelia Sabarea heading the bill. She was joined by students of her dance academy, accompanied by Manuel Peralta, known as the best new voice in many flamenco circles, his brother Antonio 'El Kuko' Peralta on guitar, and his friend 'El Chuster'

on percussion. Plaza Los Naranjos was also the venue for the Ciudad de San Roque Choir, the flamenco poetry of Juana Mari Moreno, accompanied by guitarist 'El Lebri', and a flamenco fashion show from Confecciones Paquita, of La Línea. The Pinna Fidelis winery offered a tasting of some of their fabulous vintages, and everything was rounded off by an exhibition of paintings organised by Mosayko Arte Música.

“Juego de Ajedrez”, el impulso literario de Conchi Collado Lobato xz Redacción La escritora Conchi Collado Lobato presentó en el Palacio de los Gobernadores sanroqueño su libro “Juego de Ajedrez”, de la Editorial: Círculo Rojo. Numeroso público se dió cita en el Salón de actos para conocer algunos detalles de la opera prima de Conchi Lobato, que es natural de San Martín del Tesorillo y vive actualmente en La Línea. “Juego de Ajedrez” es una novela de 232 páginas en la que Marlén, mujer madura, generosa y educada, decide ayudar a la esposa de su sobrino que tiene un hijo invidente. Ella, con sus relaciones y su buena posición, busca soluciones de todo tipo para aliviar el problema del pequeño en la medida de lo posible. Para ella es como su primer nieto. Los tenientes de alcalde delegados de Educación y Valle del Guadiaro, Mercedes Sánchez y Juan Roca, se reunieron con la dirección y la Asociación de Madres y Padres de Alumnos (AMPA) del CEIP Gloria Fuertes. En el encuentro se traladaron a ambos responsables municipales tanto algunas necesidades del centro como la alegría de la comunidad educativa por las obras realizadas este verano, tanto por parte de la misma Delegación Municipal de Educación como por la Junta de Andalucía a través del Plan OLA. La obra ha supuesto el traslado del comedor y el office del centro al espacio que ocupaba el aula de música, así como la sustitución de ventanas de la sala de usos múltiples. También se incluía la renovación de los aseos situados junto a la biblioteca, la ampliación la sala de profesorado mediante la incorporación del antiguo office a la misma y el pintado de todas las fachadas del colegio.

OUR NEW DINING ROOM Over the summer the Los Canos building was renovated under the OLA Plan in order to

improve a number of the school's facilities. We have begun the school year with a new

dining room, new bathrooms in the patio and new windows in the hall.

City Council representatives for Education and Valle del Guadiaro Mercedes Sánchez and Juan Roca met with the management and Parents' Association (AMPA in Spanish) of Gloria Fuertes Primary School. These two bodies outlined the centre's current needs to the City Council representatives as well as conveying their satisfaction with the work carried out this summer by both the Municipal Education Department and by the Andalusian Regional Government via the OLA Plan. The work entailed moving the dining room and school office to the space that formally housed the music room, as well as changing the windows on the multipurpose hall. It also included renovating the bathrooms located next to the library, enlarging the teachers' room by incorporating the former office and painting the outside of the whole school.

Discriminación del Heredero no residente: sentencia Tribunal de Justicia de la Unión Europea El pasado 3 de septiembre de 2014, la sala segunda del Tribunal de Justicia (asunto C-127/2012), estimó que el Reino de España ha incumplido las obligaciones que le incumben en virtud de lo dispuesto en el artículo 63 del Tratado de Funcionamiento de la UE, así como en el artículo 40 del Acuerdo sobre el Espacio Económico Europeo. Esto es así porque España ha permitido que se establezcan diferencias en el trato fiscal de las donaciones y las sucesiones entre los causahabientes y los donatarios residentes y no residentes en España, entre los causantes residentes y no residentes en España y entre las donaciones y disposiciones similares de bienes inmuebles situados en territorio español y fuera de éste. El Ordenamiento Español, en diversos casos, cede a las Comunidades Autónomas (CC.AA) competencia para que éstas puedan adoptar normas propias que complementen, e incluso en muchos de los casos, sustituyan las normas Estatales. En el supuesto del Impuesto sobre Sucesiones y Donaciones (ISD) la ley estatal permite a las CCAA establecer diversas reducciones fiscales que se aplican únicamente en caso de conexión exclusiva con el territorio de esas Comunidades. Esto conlleva a que la sucesión o la donación en la que intervenga un causahabiente o un donatario o un causante que no reside en el territorio español, o bien una sucesión o una donación que tenga por objeto un bien inmueble situado fuera del territorio español, no puede beneficiarse de esas reducciones fiscales, de lo que nace una diferencia de trato contraria a lo recogido en el artículo 63 del TFUE. No obstante, debemos señalar que la discriminación no surge por una dife-

rencia de trato en un ordenamiento concreto, sino por el efecto combinado de la cesión de tributos a las Comunidades Autónomas y del ejercicio por éstas de su capacidad normativa. Las Comunidades Autónomas han establecido beneficios fiscales, ausentes en la legislación estatal, de forma que cuando ésta se aplica por existir ese componente de extranjero el gravamen es mayor y ahí surge la discriminación que la sentencia rechaza. Discrimination against non-resident inheritors: ruling from the European Court of Justice On 3 September 2014, the Second Chamber of the European Court of Justice (case C-127/2012), deemed that Spain had failed to fulfil its obligations under the provisions of Article 63 of the Treaty on the Functioning of the European Union, as well as Article 40 on the European Economic Area. This is because Spain has allowed disparities to be established in the fiscal treatment of gifts and inheritences between resident and non-resident beneficiaries and grantees in Spain, resident and non-resident deceased in Spain, and between donations and similar provisions of real estate located in Spanish territory and outside it. The Spanish judicial system, in certain instances, yields to the Autonomous Communities' (AC) authority allowing them to adopt their own laws which complement, and in many cases, replace State laws. In the case of the Tax on Inheritance and Donations (ISD), state law permits the ACs to establish various tax reductions to be applied solely in exclusive relation to the territory of these Communities. This means that in the case of an inheritance or gift involving a beneficiary, grantee or deceased who is not resident in Spanish territory, or in the case of an inheritance or gift of real estate which is located outside of Spanish territory, they cannot take advantage of this tax reductions, from which is born a discre-

pancy which runs contrary to that stated in Article 63 of the TFEU. However, we should point out that the discrimination does not arise from a difference in treatment under the law exactly, but rather due to the combined effect of the assignment of taxes to the Autonomous Communities and their exercise of their regulatory capacity. The ISD is yielded when required under personal liability, doing so in favour of the Community in cases where the deceased of an inheritance was resident, where the bestowed property is located, or where the grantee is resident. The Spanish system assumes that it is the State and not the Autonomous Community that imposes the taxes under State law, when the heir or grantee, the person liable for ISD, is a non-resident and subject to taxation. The Autonomous Communities have established tax benefits, outside of state law, in such a way that when it is applied to any foreign element the tax component is higher, and from this stems the discrimination that the ruling rejects. Gil El Hospital Quirón Campo de Gibraltar participó en un acto informativo sobre el cáncer, organizado por la fundación Macmillan Cancer Support, con una conferencia magistral a cargo del doctor Arturo Aboal. La jornada se celebró en el Sky Lounge at the Sunborn Hotel Gibraltar. Al término de la sesión se organizó un sorteo a beneficio de la fundación Macmillan Cancer Support, adscrita a la correduría de seguros STM Nummos. En esta rifa benéfica, Hospital Quirón Campo de Gibraltar participó con la donación de una consulta preventiva del cáncer, en la que la persona vencedora se beneficia de un chequeo completo en el centro sanitario de Los Barrios. En cuanto a la figura del conferenciante, Arturo Aboal, jefe del

servicio de oncología médica de los hospitales Quirón Campo de Gibraltar y Marbella, ofreció una charla en inglés dirigida a los ciudadanos de Gibraltar, en la que repasó, desde un punto de vista histórico, los avances en el diagnóstico y el tratamiento del tumor de mama. The event was held in the Sky Lounge at the Sunborn Hotel Gibraltar. At the end of the session, a charity raffle was held in aid of Macmillan Cancer Support, in conjunction with insurance broker STM Nummos. In this charity raffle, the Quirón Campo de Gibraltar Hospital donated a preventative cancer consultation, in which the winner would benefit from a complete examination at the health centre in Los Barrios. As for the speaker, Arturo Aboal, head of the medical oncology service of the Quirón Campo de Gibraltar and Marbella Hospitals, offered a lecture in English aimed at Gibraltarians, in which

he gave a a historical account of the advances in the diagnosis and treatment of breast tumours. In the words of the specialist, "early diagnosis is vital in this cancer, since it means that a solution can be found when small; otherwise, it can be deadly if we find it late. We must therefore emphasise and insist that women over 50 should undergo a mammogram and a gynaecological examination once a year, as should younger women who have a family history or other risk factors", he explained. The incident meant that, as a precaution, around 140 people were evacuated from their rooms, though the fire was quickly controlled. The delay to the people returning to their rooms was mostly due to having to wait for the smoke to clear from the affected area, for which the fire fighters used a turbofan.

xz Redacción xz Redacción El equipo de Francia se proclamó campeón del trofeo Lacoste 4 Naciones de Golf, celebrado en Peralada Resort (Girona), al imponerse a España, con la guadiareña del SIGA Sotogrande María Parra en sus filas, por un punto tras una última ronda muy igualada (3 ½ 2 ½); mientras que Italia y Alemania, en el tercer y cuarto puesto, finalizaron en tablas, resolviéndose el empate por Ups a favor de los italianos, terceros clasificados. Francia suma con éste tres títulos en el palmarés de Lacoste 4 Naciones, habiéndose impuesto también en las ediciones del 2009 y 2012, mientras que España continúa por delante en el marcador al haber logrado el triunfo en cuatro ocasiones: 2008, 10, 11 y 13. Por su parte, María Parra, pese haber brillado durante la competición y realizar una estupenda semifinal ante Alemania, cedió en su encuentro de la final ante la francesa Anais Meyssonier por cinco a cuatro. Jordi Folch, capitán del equipo

español: “Ha estado justito, justito; tanto es así, que hemos perdido dos partidos y empatado otro en el hoyo 18; todo se resume en esos putts decisivos del último hoyo. A pesar de todo, nos marchamos satisfechos: hemos jugado bien,

planificado una buena estrategia, y el equipo ha respondido con mucha entrega y capacidad de sacrificio. Nos vamos con la mochila cargada de lecciones y experiencias positivas de cara al futuro”, explicó.

In spite of everything, we can come away with some satisfaction: we played well, we had a good strategy, and the team has given it everything they've got. We leave with a bag-full of lessons learned, and some positive experiences for the future."

El equipo andaluz, formado por Ángel Hidalgo, Ignacio Puente, Gonzalo García y Víctor Bjorlow (San Roque Club), se adjudicó el Campeonato Interautonómico Sub16 Masculino, frente al equipo catalán por 3-2. La competición comenzó con con gran equilibrio en el marcador tras los foursomes aunque la pareja de catalanes Lucas Vacarisas y Martí Arribas se imponía a la formada por el malagueño de El Candado, Gonzalo García y el danés federado por San Roque, Víctor Bjorlow, 3/2. Tras los partidos individuales, con la igualdad en el marcador quedaba todo en manos de Víctor Bjorlow, mientras la tensión y la amenaza de tormenta no paraban de aumentar. En el primer hoyo de play off, la

lluvia, que llevaba amenazando toda la tarde, obligó a interrumpir el juego durante más de hora y media. Tras la reanudación, la igualdad se mantuvo al finalizar el primer hoyo y tras el segundo. Sin embargo, ya en el hoyo 3, Víctor Bjorlow dio una lección de precisión y anotó el punto definitivo que daba la victoria a Andalucía. En cuanto al resto de la clasificación, la tercera plaza fue para el equipo de Baleares, que se apuntó el triunfo ante Castilla y León por un apretado 2-1.

Decisive Victor Bjorlow shines through in the Andalusian win at Inter-regional under-16 male golf championship The Andalusian team, made up of Ángel Hidalgo, Ignacio Puente, Gonzalo García and VíctorBjorlow (San Roque Club), won the inter-regional under-16 male golf championship, beating the Catalan team 32. The competition began neck and neck on the scoreboard after the foursomes, although Catalan pair Lucas Vacarisas and Martí Arribas won over that formed by the Malagueño from El Candado, Gonzalo García and the Danish player federated by San Roque, Víctor Bjorlow, 3/2. El golfista tesorillero Mario Galiano ha cerrado la temporada de la mejor manera que podía imaginar, como número 1 del Ranking Amateur Europeo 2014 elaborado por la Asociación Europea de Golf (EGA). Es la primera vez en la historia que un golfista español consigue este logro desde que la Asociación Europea de Golf estableciese este Ranking en el año 2005. Galiano acumula 1.232,98 puntos resultado de su magnífica temporada, superando al sueco Marcus Kinhult (1.221,97) y al italiano Renato Paratore (1.221,43), que escoltan al golfista de La Cañada en

el Ranking Amateur Europeo. Este importante reconocimiento refleja la sobresaliente trayectoria que comenzó con la segunda posición en la Copa de Naciones del Real Club de Golf Sotogrande. Posteriormente Mario Galiano se apuntó dos victorias, el Campeonato de Madrid y el Campeonato de Barcelona, preludio de uno de los logros más importantes de la temporada, su valiosa aportación a la medalla de oro en el Campeonato de Europa Absoluto por Equipos, convirtiéndose de paso en el único jugador español que ha ganado a lo largo de su trayectoria la

Mario Galiano, number one The golfer from Tesorillo, Mario Galiano, has ended the season in the best way he could have imagined, as number one in the 2014 European Amateur Ranking, prepared by the European Golf Association. It is the first time in history that a Spanish golfer has achieved this feat since the European Golf Association established the Ranking in 2005. Galiano accumulated 1,232.98 points during a magnificent season, beating the Swede Marcus Kinhult (1,221.97) and

the Italian Renato Paratore (1,221.43), who finished just behind the La Cañada golfer in the European Amateur Ranking. This important recognition reflects the outstanding record that started with a second place in the Nations Cup at Real Club de Golf Sotogrande. Mario Galiano then claimed two victories, the Madrid Championship and the Barcelona Championship, as a prelude to one of his most important achievements of the

El II Circuito de Golf La Revista de Sotogrande celebró la séptima y última prueba clasificatoria para la Gran Final, que se disputará el próximo jueves 23 de octubre en el mítico Club de Golf Valderrama, con una extraordinaria jornada de golf en Alcaidesa Golf, uno de los trazados más espectaculares de la zona con vistas a África. Una jornada llena de buen ambiente y mejor golf, en el que los participantes sellaron sus opciones de pasar a la final y además de un fantástico cóctel disfrutaron, de manera singular de la última jornada de la Ryder Cup en compañía de los jugadores del circuito. En el plano deportivo, Ezequiel Romero fue uno de los protago-

Finca Cortesín adds its flavour to the Tour It was a fantastic sixth round in the 2nd Sotogrande Magazine Golf Tour, held on the magnificent Finca Cortesín course. One of the last opportunities, with just the Alcaidesa tournament to go, for players to earn points and climb the ranking to qualify for the Grand Final of the 2nd Sotogrande Magazine Golf Tour. An event, like all the rounds of the tour organise by Grupo HCP, that was much more than just golf for the hundred or more players who took part in the Finca Cortesín competition. With the usual aperi-

tif during the round, a first-class cocktail party, trophy ceremony, prizes and plenty of gifts, as well as the best drinks from top brands, the players celebrated the success of the event. In the competition itself, Alfonso Monllor Lazarraga won the La Caixa Banca Privada Scratch Prize. In the Gentlemen's Group One, the winner was Antonio Domínguez, followed by Rene Luja and Peter Warren. In the Gentlemen's Group Two, victory went to José Luis Lara, while Francisco Muñoz and Alfonso

Monllor were second and third respectively. In the Ladies' Group, Amanda Rudi was first, ahead of Julia Chacón and Gillian Reynolds, who completed the podium. As for the special prizes, Lulú Pouroulis hit the closest ball to the pin and the longest drive in the Ladies', while Alfonso Monllor hit the longest drive in the Gentlemen's. Alcaidesa pronounces sentence in selection for Grand Final The II Sotogrande Magazine Golf Circuit celebrated its seventh and final qualifying meeting for the Grand Final, which will be fought on Thursday, 23rd October at the mythical Valderrama Golf Club, with an extraordinary day of golf at Alcaidesa Golf, one of the most spectacular courses in the area, which enjoys views of Africa. The atmosphere of the day was good, and the golf even better, with participants settling their chances of getting into the final, and in addition to a fabulous cocktail, enjoyed the unexpected bonus of being able to enjoy the last day of the Ryder Cup with the players on the circuit. On a sporting level, Ezequiel

Romero was one of the key players of the day, and in addition to securing the nearest-the-pin Prize, won the Men's Second Category winner's trophy, with Olivier Cebolla and Manuel Quirante taking the other podium spots in the category. Pablo Avilés and Celia Nebot picked up the trophies for the longest drive in both categories. La séptima prueba del IV Campeonato Interclubs del Estrecho deja un gran nivel de vela en aguas de Sotogrande xz Redacción La séptima prueba del IV Campeonato de Crucero Interclubs del Estrecho contó con un gran éxito de convocatoria en aguas de Sotogrande, avalado por 27 barcos inscritos, procedentes, del RCN Estepona, RCN La Línea, RGYC de Gibraltar, RCN Algeciras, CN el Saladillo, CAS y Club de Vela Vendaval de Ceuta, y el propio Club anfitrión. La regata se celebró sobre un recorrido barlovento-sotavento y costero, de 10 millas con unas condiciones muy complicadas y con vientos muy cambiantes de entre 5 y 10 nudos del sur, que permitió el luci-

miento de toda la flota en un magnífico espectáculo. En la categoría ORC2, el triunfador fue el Ciudad de Ceuta, del Club de Vela Vendaval de Ceuta, patroneado por Sergio Llorca, seguido en segundo por el Pantalan Zero, Independiente y patroneado por Jorge Domenech y siendo tercero Seawolf of Southampton del RCM Sotogrande, patroneado por David Latham. Seventh round of 4th Straits Interclub Championship offers great standard of sailing on Sotogrande waters The seventh round of the 4th Straits Interclub Yacht Championship had a great turnout on Sotogrande waters of 27 boats from the sailing clubs RCN Estepona, RCN La Línea, RGYC Gibraltar, RCN Algeciras, CN el Saladillo, CAS, Club de Vela Vendaval de Ceuta, and the host club itself. The regatta was held on a 10-mile windward-leeward coastal course in very difficult conditions and with rapidly changing southerly winds of 5 to 10 knots, allowing the entire fleet to put on a magnificent show.

‘Rebalaje’ sobrevive a la falta de viento y se lleva la regata Sotogrande-Ceuta de Solitario y A Dos xz Redacción La falta de viento, gran protagonista de la jornada. La anual cita que organizan cada año el Real Club Marítimo de Sotogrande en conjunto con el Club Vendaval de Ceuta que une a ambos puntos vía marítima en Solitario y A Dos, se celebró con más de 20 embarcaciones inscritas aunque no todas llegaron hasta aguas africanos y claudicaron antes por las complicadas condiciones de viento. El barco ‘Rebalaje’, del armador Mateo Pérez García, fue el único que consiguió cruzar la línea de llegada antes de la hora límite marcada en la Regata (19:00 horas). La Travesía Sotogrande-Ceuta comenzó con viento flojo de levante que se fue viniendo

abajo en Alcaidesa para luego volver a aparcer más tarde en las inmediaciones del Estrecho. Muchas de las embarcaciones participantes optaron por la retirada, despesperados por la falta de viento. La jornada, como estaba previsto, finalizó con una cena de los participantes y la entrega de trofeos en la Ciudad Autónoma de Ceuta, en el Club Vendaval, socio organizador.

‘Rebalaje’ survives lack of wind to triumph in Sotogrande-Ceuta Solo and Two-Man regatta The lack of win was the feature of the day. The annual event organized each year by Real Club Marítimo de Sotogrande Club in conjunction with Club Vendaval de Ceuta, linking the two points by sea in Solo and Two-Man craft, was held with over 20 vessels entering, though not all of them reaches African waters and were forced to give up due to the difficult win conditions. The boat 'Rebalaje', owned by Mateo Pérez García, was the only vessel that managed to cross the

finishing line within the time limit for the regatta (7 pm). The Sotogrande-Ceuta crossing started with a light easterly breeze that gradually moved down to Alcaidesa before appearing later in the vicinity of the Straits. Many of the participating boats opted to withdraw, dismayed with the lack of wind. As planned, the day ended with a dinner for the participants and the trophy ceremony in the Autonomous City of Ceuta, at Club Vendaval, one of the organisers.

‘Bribón-Movistar’, timón de oro en aguas de Sotogrande xz Redacción

El ‘Bribón-Movistar’ de Marc de Antonio se proclamó campeón de la VIII Copa de España de J/80 Trocadero Sotogrande con susto, tras una última jornada en la que pusieron en peligro un liderazgo que finalmente sellaron con un punto de renta sobre el ‘Herbalife’ de Pepequín Orbaneja y Juan Luis Páez (CN Sevilla). Un cuarto en la última manga y un primero de los locales a punto estuvieron de dar al traste con los intereses de los visitantes que llegaban con una renta de cuatro puntos a la última prueba. Solo un barco más por medio les faltó a los de Páez para poner el broche a su mejor día con dos 1º y un 3º, frente a un 1º, un 2º y un 4º del equipo Movistar.

El tercer puesto del podio fue para el ‘Puerto Sherry II-Oxital’ de Jesús González-Amaliach, con bandera y tripulación mixta andaluza y cántabra, que también firmó un puesto en el podio en la última prueba necesitados de resolver un empate con sus compañeros del ‘Puerto Sherry I’ de Julia Vallo y Dioni Martínez, aclarado con un 2º y un 3º, respectivamente, que dejó a los de Martínez a las puertas de podio con solo un punto más. Su pelea dejó fuera al barco del CM de Puerto Banús ‘Da Bruno’ de Iñaki Castañer y Ricardo Zabell, que le faltó solo un punto para subir al podio después de la penúltima prueba de la copa perdió dos, al claudicar frente Pablo Villar con el ‘Puerto

Sotogrande’, quinto clasificado. Finalizó así una Copa de España cocinada a fuego lento que contó con todos los ingredientes necesarios para completar una cita redonda en el campo de regatas de Sotogrande, donde el viento se portó para tranquilidad de comités y disfrute de las tripulaciones. Reñida desde el minuto uno, una vez más quedó patente el extraordinario nivel y buena salud de la flota española de monotipos J/80.

‘Bribón-Movistar’, golden helm on Sotogrande waters Marc de Antonio's ‘BribónMovistar’ was proclaimed champion of the 8th Trocadero Sotogrande Spanish J/80 Cup after a final day in which their lead was threatened, but the boat finally claimed the win one point ahead of Pepequín Orbaneja and Juan Luis Páez's ‘Herbalife’ (CN Sevilla). A fourth place in the final leg and a first place for the local boat almost derailed the visitors' performance, having gone into the final leg with a four-point lead. Páez's crew just needed one more boat between them and the winners to put the finishing touch to their best day, with two firsts and a third, versus a first, a second and a fourth form the Movistar team. Third place on the podium went to Jesús GonzálezAmaliach's ‘Puerto Sherry IIOxital’, with a mixed Andalusian and Cantabrian flag and crew, who also claimed their spot in the final leg when they moved ahead

of their team-mates on Julia Vallo and Dioni Martínez's 'Puerto Sherry I' after they finished second and third, respectively, leaving Martínez's crew just a point shy of the podium. Their battle left Iñaki Castañer and Ricardo Zabell's ‘Da Bruno’ (CM de Puerto Banús) in its wake; they were just one point behind a podium finish after the penultimate leg but lost two points when they ceded their position to Pablo Villar's ‘Puerto Sotogrande’, who finished fifth. The Spanish Cup had all the ingredients needed for a thrilling event on the Sotogrande regatta course, where the wind behaved itself much to the delight of the organising committees and the crews. Hard-fought from the outset, once against the extraordinary standard and good health of the Spanish monotype J/80 fleet was made clear.

Más no se puede pedir: el verano perfecto, la triple corona, las tres preseas, invicto, como quieran llamarlo, o simplemente Valiente. El cuarteto de Robert Jornayvaz, con un Adolfo Cambiaso impresionante durante las tres copas disputadas este verano en Santa María Polo Club, se alzó con la Copa de Oro Bulgari de la 43 edición del Torneo Internacional Land Rover Polo tras superar en una de las mejores finales del Alto handicap de los últimos años en la cancha IV de Los Pinos a Ellerston por 14 goles a 11. Ni la gran actuación de los hermanos Pieres, Gonzalo y Facundo,

que mantuvieron a Valiente empatando cada chukker hasta el último y definitivo, detuvo la imponente e inmaculada temporada de Verano en Sotogrande de los Cambiaso, Laborde, Jornayvaz y Santi Torres. Con la conquista de la Copa de Oro Bulgari de Alto Handicap Valiente firma un verano perfecto en Sotogrande cerrando el círculo que él mismo inició con sus victorias en la Copa de Bronce y la Copa de Plata. Además, Cambiaso, como no podía ser de otra manera, fue elegido mejor jugador del torneo y la yegua de Facundo Pieres, la mejor de la final.

Un duelo igualado con un ambiente de lujo en Santa María Polo Club, con las gradas llenas y la etiqueta que pone Sotogrande en las citas claves del año, como es la final de la Copa de Oro y gran colofón del periodo estival. Recordar que el precio de entrada de la final, de 10 euros, contaba con un carácter solidario para la Fundación de Hipoterapia de Santa María Polo Club, recaudándose cerca de 22.000 euros en la final. Robert Jornayvaz's quartet, with an Adolfo Cambiaso in impressive form during the three cups held this summer at Santa María Polo Club, lifted the Bulgari Gold Cup in the 43rd Land Rover International Polo Tournament, after defeating Ellerston by 14 goals to 11 in one of the best High-Goal finals of recent years on Los Pinos Field IV. Not even great performances from

the Pieres brothers, Gonzalo and Facundo, who kept the game level in each chukka until the last, could stop the stunning and impeccable summer season of Cambiaso, Laborde, Jornayvaz and Santi Torres in Sotogrande. With the Bulgari High-Goal Cup, Valiente completed a perfect summer in Sotogrande following their victories in the Bronze and Silver Cups. Cambiaso, unsurprisingly, was also voted plater of the tournament, while Facundo Pieres' mare was selected as the best in the final.

It was a very close encounter in the luxurious setting of Santa María Polo Club, with the stands full and all the atmosphere one would expect at one of the main events of the year in Sotogrande, as the grand finale to the summer period. The price of entry to the final, 10 euros, went towards the Santa María Polo Club Riding Therapy Centre, with around 22,000 euros raised in the final. Viscomte A win French Polo Open after beating Saint Mesme The Viscomte A quartet (Alexandre Sztarkman, Facundo Fernández Llorente, Darío Musso and Edouard Pan) were victorious in the French Polo Open, held at Polo Club du Domaine de Chantilly - La Ferme d’Apremont, after overcoming Saint Mesme (Birger Strom, Brieuc Rigaux, Clemento Zavaletta and Robert Strom) in the final by 10 goals to 9. It was a vibrant final in which Saint Mesme started with authority and at the top of their game with a very good first chukka that put them two goals ahead. JOSÉ MARÍA MENACHO DESDE EL BUNKER “El campo debe estar siempre en perfectas condiciones más allá de que haya grandes competiciones” xz Manuel Gil El Periódico de Sotogrande se detiene en esta ocasión, para la sección ‘Desde el búnker’, en una figura indispensable en un campo de golf y que sin duda salta a la vista nada más llegar a un campo. Las perfectas condiciones, el cuidado de los greenes, tees en perfecto estado; un greenkeeper transmite vida a un campo de golf, y en este caso, el jerezano José María Menacho (32 años), lo hace en La Reserva de Sotogrande. Sobre sus inicios, Menacho confiesa que no pensaba que acabaría vinculado al golf tras sus estudios de Ingeniero Agrónomo. “La realización de proyecto sobre el ahorro de agua en césped me llevó a comenzar a interesarme en este campo, cosa que me llevó a realizar unas prácticas aquí mismo [La Reserva] en el año 2007 cuando Javier Gutiérrez era el greenkeeper”, explica. “Fui interesándome en la materia y ello me llevó a realizar un Master de Superficies en la Universidad de Cranfield, Gran Bretaña. Pase por Loch Lomond Golf y aterricé en Polaris en el año 2008. Fue una etapa interesante en la que pude conocer al mismo tiempo el mantenimiento de nueve hoyos, ese proceso, a la vez que el de la construcción de los otros nueve. En 2009 surgió la posibilidad de

ir a Almenara Golf y en 2012 di el salto a La Reserva de Sotogrande hasta hoy”, comenta sobre su llegada a la zona. Menacho desgrana como es su día a día y como necesita la figura del greenkeeper estar en continuo contacto con todo el conjunto del campo. “Está claro, lo primero que hago es ir a ver el campo. Siempre hay que estar planificando los trabajos en el campo, los cortes, supervisando los detalles y afrontando las eventualidades que cada día aparecen. Aunque me apoyo mucho en todo el entorno. Con el director [Juan Álvarez] me gusta recorrer el campo al menos dos veces a la semana. Compartimos ideas, buscamos cualquier detalle, es fundamental el continuo contacto para sumar. Al igual que con el resto de la plantilla, todos los jardineros y hablar con jugadores. Las críticas constructivas van en beneficio de todos. La clave es sumar y contar con un gran equipo humanos”, explica sobre el secreto de mantener en perfecto estado el campo. “Además, desde hace un año y medio el campo cuenta con la gestión de Troon Golf que garantiza la excelencia del campo a todos los niveles”, añade. como la Copa del Rey (en febrero) o el Torneo NH Collection Open del Circuito Europeo, en abril. Preguntamos como se organiza un gran evento de golf. “Hay que tener una gran planificación previa, durante el invierno. Nosotros trabajábamos para la Copa del Rey cuando surgió la posibilidad de que viniese el Circuito Europeo. Sin duda nos ayudó la previsión para el primer evento. Se trabaja más en los detalles, ensayos con tipos de arena en los búnkers...y

por supuesto contemplar el peor de los casos a nivel climatología, para que todas las posibilidades estén cubiertas. La semana antes se realiza un ensayo cual si fuese la semana de competición. Pero hay que destacar la gran motivación que eso transmite al grupo humano. La gran alegría de que viniese el Circuito Europeo, eso da un plus para afrontar un reto así de apasionante”, confiesa. Para concluir, responde a la duda de si la figura del greenkeeper

debe ser jugador para obtener una mayor amplitud de perspectiva sobre el campo. “Pienso que sí. Cuando recorres el campo te vas fijando en ciertas cosas...matices que quieres corregir o en los que incides normalmente. "The course has to be in perfect condition, even when there is no big competition" The Periódico de Sotogrande focuses, in this edition of the "Desde el búnker" section, on an indispensable feature of a golf course, and one that inevitably leaps into view the moment you arrive at the course. The perfect condition of the course, the maintenance of the greens, the perfect tees... a greenkeeper brings a golf course to life, and in this case, José María Menacho, aged 32, and from Jerez, does so at La Reserva de Sotogrande. Talking about how he began, Menacho confesses that he never thought he would end up in golf after his studies in agricultural engineering. "It was carrying out a project on saving water with lawns that first led me to get interested in this area, which I followed up with some practical experience here [at La Reserva] in 2007, when Javier Gutiérrez was greenkeeper," he explains. "I got more and more interested in the subject, and that me led to take a Masters in Sports Surface Technology at Cranfield University in Great Britain. I spent

some time at Loch Lomond Golf and ended up at Polaris in 2008. It was an interesting part of my life, and I was able to gain simultaneous experience of the process of how to maintain the existing nine holes, and the construction of the other nine." Talking about how he came to the area, he explains that in 2009 "I got the chance to go to Almenara Golf, and in 2012, I made the leap to La Reserva de Sotogrande, where I am now." Menacho described what his daily work involved, and how the greenkeeper needs to be in aware at all times of what is going on all over the course. "Obviously, the first thing I do is to go and look at the course. You always have to be planning the work needed on the course, the cutting, supervising the details, and dealing with the things that crop up on a daily basis - although I rely a lot on all those around me. I like going round the course at least twice a week with the director [Juan Álvarez]. We share ideas, looking at every detail, it's fundamental to

keep up the communication in order to keep on top of things. Likewise everybody else on the staff, all the gardeners; and talking to the players. Constructive criticism benefits all concerned. When talking about the secret of maintaining the course in perfect condition, he explains that "the key is keeping on top of things and having a great team of people," adding that "also, for the last year and a half, the course has been managed by Troon Golf, which guarantees that the course is excellent all round."

This year, 2014, La Reserva de Sotogrande held big meetings like the Copa del Rey (in February), and the NH Collection Open Tournament, part of the European Circuit, in April. We asked how a big golfing event is organized: "You have to do a lot of planning in advance, during the winter. We were working toward the Copa del Rey when the possibility first came up of hosting a round of the European Circuit. There is no doubt that the pre-planning for the first event helped us. You do more work on the

details, testing out different kinds of sand in the bunkers... and of course, thinking about the worst case scenario in terms of the weather, so that every eventuality is covered. The week before, you do a practice run, as if it was the week of the competition. The motivation it gives to everybody involved is amazing. The thrill of having the European Circuit come here, it gives you that bit extra, to take on such an exciting challenge," he tells us. We conclude with his view on whether the greenkeeper has to be a player in order to get a wider perspective on the course. "Yes, I think so. When you go round the course, you start noticing certain things... little details that need to be put right, or things that you normally do in the course of things. When you play... you take the same route as the players, you see what they see, and you know haw it feels for them, too. That bunker where you hadn't noticed a problem, the speed of a green, or the grass on the fairways. It all helps," he assures us.

el conSeJo TÉcnIco "Cómo un jugador puede mejorar cuatro golpes en poco tiempo" ¿Y si pudiera mejorar un poco para lograr un putt desde 3 metros, en lugar de necesitar dos putt? ¿O consiguiera un chip a 5 metros del hoyo, en lugar de a 2 metros? ¿O pudiera alcanzar un green desde 135, en lugar de no llegar a él? ¿O pudiera lograr un driver 9 metros más recto en su peor tiro curvado para que la pelota permanezca en el juego, en lugar de recibir una penalización por caer al agua? Si mejorara solo un poco en cada una de las categorías anteriores, podría mejorar 4 golpes en 18 hoyos. Si pudiera hacer esto en los nueve hoyos dos veces, podría mejorar 8 golpes.

Lo interesante de lo dicho anteriormente es que no necesitará mejorar mucho su putt, chip, hierro o driver. Solo necesita mejorar lo suficiente para conseguir un tiro mejor en cada categoría, y si lo logra, sus puntuaciones mejorarán en 8 golpes. Este enfoque de mejora simplificado (el PLAN) es importante porque la mayoría de golfistas trata de mejorar rehaciendo su swing para mejorar de 4 a 8 golpes. En cambio, lo que suele suceder es que acaban empeorando de 4 a 8 golpes con todos estos cambios. En realidad, no hay mucha diferencia perceptible en el swing de golf de un handicap 20 y de

un handicap 12. La diferencia es que el handicap 12 hace 1 putt más, 1 chip mejor, 1 green adicional y 1 drive extra dentro del juego cada 9 hoyos en comparación con el handicap 20. De Marc SoloMon "How The Player Improves Four Strokes In A Short Time" If you could improve as little as making just one more putt from 10 feet … as opposed to needing two putts. Having one more chip stop .5 metres from the hole … as opposed to 2 metres. Hit one more green from 135 metres … as opposed to missing the green. And hit your Driver 10 yards straighter on your worst curving shot so that the ball stays in play … as opposed to taking a penalty for being in the water. If you improve just a tiny amount in each of the above four categories you would improve 4 strokes per 18 holes. If you could do this on both 9’s … you would improve 8 strokes. The beauty of the above is that you don’t need to become much better of a putter, or chipper or iron player or Driver. You just need to improve enough to get one shot better in each category … if so, your scores are 8 strokes better! This simplified approach to improvement (a PLAN) is important because most Golfers try to improve by redoing their golf swing to get 4 to 8 strokes better. Yet

what often happens is that these Golfers end up getting 4 to 8 strokes worse with all the changes. In reality - there isn’t much perceptible difference in the golf swing of a 20 handicap and a 12 handicap. The difference is the 12 handicap is making 1 more putt, 1 better chip, 1 additional green, and 1 extra Drive that stays in play each 9 holes than the 20 handicap. It’s not that the 12 handicap is consistently hitting 240 metre drives straight … while the 20 handicap is hitting 180 metre drives left and right. If you score around 95 for 18 holes - this summer if you work to improve 1 stroke per 9 holes in your putting, 1 better chip, and 1 more Green in Regulation. You have now improved 6 strokes and you're an 89 Golfer … without even improving your Driver.

Great success of XXVII San José School Tennis Tournament The XXVII San José School Tennis Tournament has taken place at the new facilities at the Bel-Air Tennis Club, Estepona. It was no surprise that the number of participants this year was greater than the last, exceeding 200.

The tournament has been growing every year and improving in organisation, size of prizes (now up to ¤8,000) and overall quality, with players from all over Spain now coming to play in the tournament.

Fueron campeones durante tres años consecutivos, de 2009 a 2011, y después de un par de años en blanco, Pablo Herrera y Adrián Gavira sellan un nuevo título que les convierte en la mejor pareja española de voley playa. El castellonense y el sanroqueño, vencedores del Campeonato de España, disputado en Fuengirola, al superar a la dupla Marco-García por 2-1 (2117, 18-21 y 15-9) y regresan a lo más alto del panorama nacional. La final no fue un partido nada fácil. De hecho, la pareja rival puso contra las cuerdas a Herrera-Gavira e, incluso, logra-

ron empatar el choque, dejando el título por decidirse en la muerte súbita. El primer set, muy igualado, se cerró con un mal saque de Fran Marco. Herrera-Gavira empezaron por delante el segundo set (5-2 y 106), pero llegados al punto 15 Marco-García empataron y, a partir de ese momento, hicieron suyo el partido, manteniendo su ventaja hasta el final. Así, el choque se fue hasta la muerte súbita, periodo que no muy diferente en exceso de los dos anteriores sets y que hizo vibrar a los aficionados que se dieron cita en la Reserva del

Higuerón en Fuengirola. En el ‘tie break’, Herrera-Gavira estuvieron por delante en todo momento, con ventajas de hasta seis puntos, e hicieron valer su mayor experiencia para acabar doblegando a Marco-García para proclamarse Campeón de España.

Con la presencia de La Bocha Polo Magazine ‘in situ’,en la final Inglaterra superó a Irlanda por un marcador de seis tantos a tres, resaltar que en el cuadro irlandés se encontraba Richard Fagan, uno de los habituales en la temporada de polo de Sotogrande, con el equipo Silex. En los primeros compases del encuentro Irlanda se mostró

fuerte, a partir del tercer chukker el cuadro inglés comenzó a sentirse más cómodo y a imponerse tanto en juego como en el marcador para llevarse el triunfo final.

England wins the European Polo Championship in France xz Con la conquista del Nacional, Gavira y Herrera logran su máxima cota esta temporada.

Pablo Herrera and San Roque native Adrían Gavira, Spanish beach volleyball champions They were champions for three consecutive years between 2009 and 2011, and following a few quiet years, Pablo Herrera and Adrián Gavira sealed a new victory making them the top Spanish beach volleyball pair. The players from Castellón de la Plana and San Roque, won the Spanish Champtionship, held in Fuengirola, after beating the duo Marco-García 2-1 (21-17, 18-21 and 15-9) and returning to the top of the national scene.

The final was by no means an easy one. Indeed, the rival pair had Herrera-Gavira against the ropes, and even managed to tie the game, meaning that the title came down to a suddendeath decision. The first set, very evenly-matched, closed with a bad serve by Fran Marco. Herrera-Gavira began the second set ahead (5-2 and 10-6), but at point 15 MarcoGarcía tied, and from that moment on the match was theirs, maintaining their lead

until the end. And so the clash went to sudden death, a match that was not so different than the previous two sets, with fans quivering with excitement at the Reserva del Higuerón in Fuengirola. In the ‘tie break’, Herrera-Gavira were ahead at all times, with up to a six-point lead, and made the most of their greater experience by crushing Marco-García and making themselves Spanish Champions.

The final of the European Polo Championship held in Chantilly, France, didn't disappoint. La Bocha Polo Magazine was present at the final, where England beat Ireland six goals to three. The Irish side included Richard Fagan, who regu-

larly plays Sotogrande's polo season with the team Silex. Ireland had a strong start to the match, but from the third chukker England began to find their stride and dominate both on the field and the scoreboard to take the final.

El consejo farmaceutico Deporte en invierno En esta época del año en la que hace frío, llegan las lluvias, nieve, debemos tratar de mantenernos sanos y lo más optimistas posible. Para ello, ofrecemos estos prácticos consejos. - Ejercitar las piernas saliendo a pasear por la calle, en el campo, en el parque, durante al menos media hora al día a un ritmo ligero. La mejor opción es al aire libre para oxigenar y ejercitar los pulmones. - La hidratación es fundamental. Para evitar la piel seca utilizaremos una crema hidratante y además, beberemos abundante líquido (agua o zumo) para purificar nuestro organismo. - Adecuada higiene de las manos, lavándolas varias veces al día (con agua o incluso alcohol en gel para desinfectar). - Sumergir los pies en agua muy caliente durante 20 minutos antes de acostarse hace que mejoren los síntomas del resfriado. - Ingerir alimentos ricos en vitamina C como el pimiento, el tomate, el brócoli. - Masajes corporales para evitar el estrés y aumentar las defensas.
