No se trata de caer en la melancolía, el elogio propio o una meritocracia inmerecida. Con la mayor sinceridad posible, tratamos de utilizar esta cifra tan especial en la redacción de El Periódico de Sotogrande, nada menos que 450 ediciones publicadas desde aquel otoño de 1998; son el resultado de un recorrido por la historia de Sotogrande y el Valle del Guadiaro. Simplemente, y a la vez eso supone mucho, el diario en el que se guardan las historias de este lugar.
Como bien dijo el actual director, Manuel Gil, durante la ceremonia del 25 aniversario: “Sotogrande es una colección de obras de arte y El Periódico de Sotogrande, su museo en el que conservarlas y mostrárselas al mundo”.

This isn’t about getting melancholic, praising ourselves or undeserved meritocracy. With the greatest possible sincerity, we are trying to use this very special in the editorial office of El Periódico de Sotogrande, no fewer than 450 editions published since that autumn in 1998; they are the result of a journey through the history of Sotogrande and Valle del Guadiaro. Simply, and yet this means a lot, the newspaper in which the stories of this place are kept.

Once again, far from praise, it is a boost to continue working and committing to trying to communicate as best as possible. We are taking great steps towards the digital era, with new social media and projects in the cyber world. But as always we do so with quality, verified, true information, with closeness and with the aim of showing the world this incredible place and its stories.

Es prácticamente imposible establecer una piedra meridiana en la que sustentar, históricamente, el inicio real del golf. Los primeros escritos o testimonios, relativamente reales sobre este deporte capaz de mover masas mundiales lo sitúan, casi medio siglo antes del Descubrimiento de América, en tierras escocesas. Un fugaz edicto del rey Jacobo II en el que instaba a prohibir el “ye but bawe and ye golf” y ordenaba a sus huestes que mejor se dedicasen a practicar el tiro con acto. Un argumento datado en 1457 por el “parlamento escocés” y que años más tarde sería refrendado por los monarcas sucesores: Jacobo II (1471) y Jacobo IV (1492), todo ello época precolombina. Más tarde se escribiría toda su historia, casi un siglo después, de la mano de Sir Robert Maule e incluso con referencias a St. Andrews a mediados del siglo XIV. Desde ese momento todo cobró sentido y brindó dimensión internacional y única al golf, como pocos deportes. Un camino hacia una industria y sector sin precedentes y con una proyección de cientos de millones de seguidores en todo el planeta. En ese gran pastel, afortunadamente, Sotogrande ocupa una cuota muy desataca en el escenario internacional, tanto a nivel histórico; como en la actualidad. El golf, como industria vinculada al turismo y a un resort residencial del más alto nivel, supone probablemente el mayor motor económico de nuestro tiempo en Sotogrande. Todo ello vinculado al sol y al estilo de vida, han permitido convertir a esta urbanización en uno de los complejos residenciales de más nivel en todo el sur de Europa y un destine ‘prime’ mundial de golf. It is practically impossible to put down a foundation stone on which to historically base the real start of golf. The first writings or testimonies, that are relatively real about this sport that is capable of moving global masses place it almost a century before the Discovery of America, in Scotland.
A fleeting edict by King James II in which he urged the prohibition of “ye but bawe and ye golf” and ordered his followers that it would be better to do archery. Golf, as an industry linked to tourism and to a residential resort of the highest level, is probably the greatest economic driving force of our time in Sotogrande. All of that linked to the sun and to lifestyle, have made it possible to turn this resort into one of the highest level residential resorts in all of southern Europe and a prime global golf destination.

However, it is also competition and excitement. We are on the cusp of once again holding an extraordinary event in the context of Sotogrande, at its iconic Real Club de Golf Sotogrande. The celebration, for the second consecutive year of the Estrella Damm NA Andalucía Masters, shows that this destination is unique and capable of hosting several of the most important competitions in the golfing world. Also, even the destination has aligned to offer us a privileged line-up of players. La Comisión de Gestión de la Sequía aprueba el consumo a 200 litros por habitante en el Campo de Gibraltar
Tras el inicio del nuevo año hidrológico, la Mesa comarcal de Sequía celebró un nuevo encuentro para la toma en conocimiento y aprobación de los acuerdos adoptados el pasado 10 de octubre por la Comisión de Gestión de la Sequía de la demarcación de las Cuencas Mediterráneas Andaluzas. Dicha Comisión determinó mantener al Campo de Gibraltar en situación de escasez severa (alerta) en virtud del análisis de la situación hidrológica, notoriamente caracterizada por la ausencia de lluvias significativas en la comarca campogibraltareña.
Los participantes en el encuentro comarcal han conocido en primera persona la situación hidrológica del sistema, así como la previsión de consumos y aportaciones del año 2024, junto a las inversiones y medidas adoptadas en demandas y suministros, junto a las medidas acordadas por la Comisión de Gestión que ya se aplican desde esta toma de conocimiento.
Las medidas adoptadas en el ámbito del uso urbano, agrario, industrial y en materia de riegos, se mantendrán hasta el mes de diciembre, estando prevista la celebración de una próxima sesión de la Mesa de Sequía a mediados de dicho mes en la que se volverá a valorar la evolución de la actual situación de sequía, determinándose la adopción de nuevas medidas, en caso de ser precisas.
Durante la comparecencia rea-
lizada, tanto la presidenta Pérez Custodio como el vicepresidente de Servicios Mancomunados y Consejero Delegado, Manuel Abellán, trasladaron un mensaje de optimismo a la ciudadanía, al partir la comarca de una análoga situación en la que se encontraba al inicio del anterior año hidrológico enfrentándose la comarca a una situación muy similar a la del inicio del anterior año hidrológico y agradecieron el esfuerzo realizado a la población campogibraltareña. Finalmente, el director general de la empresa pública recordó que “es el sexto año consecutivo con precipitaciones por debajo de la media en la comarca, constituyendo la mayor serie histórica en cuanto a déficit hídrico registrado” situación que se ha superado nuevamente, gracias al conjunto de medidas adoptadas por la empresa ARCGISA, que han dado sus frutos, determinando un ahorro de más de 1,2 millones de metros cúbicos en el presente año hidrológico 2023/2024 frente al 2022/2023
SITUACIÓN HIDROLÓGICA AC-
TUAL
A fecha de 14 de octubre, el embalse de Charco Redondo presenta una reserva de 17,87 hectómetros cúbicos de agua embalsada, encontrándose en el 22% de su capacidad (sobre los 81,6 hectómetros cúbicos totales).
En el caso del embalse de
Guadarranque, el porcentaje de reserva es del 31% (27,08 hectómetros cúbicos frente a los 87,7 hectómetros cúbicos de capacidad total).
En función de ello, la Mesa de Sequía comarcal valoró positivamente el mantenimiento de la reducción de presiones en el horario nocturno realizada durante el período estival, así como el conjunto de medidas adoptadas a lo largo del presente año, que han permitido que la comarca supere el periodo estival sin notables afectaciones.
MEDIDAS ADOPTADAS
Uso urbano
El consumo de agua de uso urbano no podrá superar los 200 litros por habitante y día en los municipios campogi-
braltareños de Algeciras, Los Barrios, Castellar de la Frontera, Línea de la Concepción, San Roque, Jimena de la Frontera y San Martín del Tesorillo. La medida adoptada determina que la dotación se verá reducida en 25 metros cúbicos por habitante/día (desde los 225 litros por habitante y día, acordados con carácter previo al periodo estival, a los actualmente permitidos). Para el suministro del volumen máximo en los depósitos de cabecera municipales se tomará la población real de cada municipio, que será la propuesta por ARCGISA en base a la generación de residuos en cada localidad.
Usos agrarios
En el caso de los usos agra-
rios, el Campo de Gibraltar mantiene el volumen de riego establecido para el año hidrológico 2024-2025 que se estableció en un máximo de 4 hm3. Por tanto, se mantiene la limitación de riegos con un máximo del 50% de la demanda media.
Este volumen será revisado a comienzos de 2025 en función de la evolución de situación hidrológica, pudiendo llegar a limitarse a un máximo de 2 hm3 en caso de entrar en situación de escasez grave.
Usos Industriales
Para ellos se mantiene un 20% de reducción sobre el volumen base calculado según el contenido del artículo 5.1 del Decreto- Ley 2/202, de 29 de enero.
After the start of the new hydrological year, the regional Drought Committee held a new meeting to take cognizance of and approve the agreements adopted on 10 October by the Drought Management Commission of the Andalusian Mediterranean Basins demarcation.
This Commission decided to maintain Campo de Gibraltar in a situation of severe shortage (alert) by virtue of the analysis of the hydrological situation, notoriously characterised by the absence of significant rainfall in the Campo de Gibraltar region.
The participants in the regional meeting were given first-hand knowledge of the hydrological situation of the system, as well as the forecast consumption and contributions for the year 2024, together with the investments and measures adopted in terms of demand and supply, and the measures agreed by the Management Commission that have already been applied since the meeting.
The measures adopted in the field of urban, agricultural, industrial and irrigation use will be maintained until the month of December, with the next meeting of the Drought Committee scheduled for the middle of that month to reassess the evolution of the current drought situation, determining the adoption of new measures, if necessary.
During the appearance, both President Pérez Custodio and the vice-president of Mancomunado Services and CEO, Manuel Abellán, conveyed a message of optimism to the citizens, as the region is now in a similar situation to the one it was in at the beginning of the previous hydrological year, facing a situation very similar to that of the beginning of the previous hydrological year, and thanked the people of Campo de Gibraltar for their efforts. Finally, the general manager of the public company recalled that ‘this is the sixth consecutive year with below-average rainfall in the region, constituting the largest historical series in terms of recorded water deficit’, a situation that has been overcome again, thanks to the set of measures adopted by the company ARCGISA, which have borne fruit, determining a saving of more than 1.2 million cubic metres in the current hydrological year 2023/2024 compared to 2022/2023.
CURRENT HYDROLOGICAL SITUATION
As of 14 October, the Charco Redondo reservoir has a reserve of 17.87 cubic hectometres of water in storage, at 22% of its capacity (out of a total of 81.6 cubic hectometres). In the case of the Guadarranque reservoir, the reserve percentage is 31% (27.08 cubic hectometres out of a total capacity of 87.7 cubic hectometres).
In view of this, the regional Drought Committee positively valued the maintenance of the reduction in night-time pressure during the summer period, as well as the set of measures adopted throughout the current year, which have enabled the region to overcome the summer period without notable effects.
MEASURES ADOPTED
Urban use
Urban water consumption may not
exceed 200 litres per inhabitant per day in the municipalities of Algeciras, Los Barrios, Castellar de la Frontera, Línea de la Concepción, San Roque, Jimena de la Frontera and San Martín del Tesorillo. The measure adopted determines that the supply will be reduced by 25 cubic metres per inhabitant/day (from the 225 litres per inhabitant
per day, agreed prior to the summer period, to those currently permitted). Industrial Uses
In the case of agricultural uses, the Campo de Gibraltar maintains the irrigation volume established for the 2024-2025 hydrological year, which was set at a maximum of 4 hm3. Therefore, the irrigation limitation is maintained at a maximum of 50% of the average demand. This volume will be revised at the beginning of 2025 depending on the evolution of the hydrological situation, and may be limited to a maximum of 2 hm3 in the event of a serious shortage.
For these uses, a 20% reduction on the base volume calculated according to the content of article 5.1 of Decree-Law 2/202 of 29 January is maintained.
Transparencia insta al Consistorio a informar sobre el proyecto del aparcamiento subterráneo en Pueblo Nuevo
El Ayuntamiento de San Roque continúa sin responder a las peticiones ciudadanas que vienen realizándose desde el mes de mayo sobre el proyecto de parking subterráneo en la zona comercial de Sierra Bermeja, por lo que el procedimiento llegó al Consejo de Transparencia de Andalucía como reclamación, según la plataforma vecinal San Roque Vivo. La Plataforma vecinal ‘San Roque Vivo’, dio a conocer que tras cinco meses desde las peticiones ciudadanas, el Consejo de Transparencia resolvió finalmenteque la información debe entregarse a la ciudadanía. En su resolución además el Consejo de
Transparencia de Andalucía indica que el Ayuntamiento de San Roque no solo no ha contestado a los ciudadanos que pidieron la documenta-
ción pública, si no tampoco, a la fecha de la resolución, al propio Consejo, por lo que no se han tenido en cuenta alegaciones o excusas que
éste pudiera dar para justificar la demora. Cabe recordar que conforme a la normativa de transparencia las adminis-
traciones tienen un mes para entregar lo que se les solicita, aunque el Ayuntamiento de San Roque sigue un protocolo de silencio hasta que recibe resoluciones que le obligan, lo cual suele demorar el acceso una media de seis meses. Una vez recibida la documentación se espera que se haga pública entre los vecinos afectados, de modo que puedan contrastar los rumores con los datos concretos y oficiales, incluso las pruebas realizadas en mayo sobre el terreno, acerca del futuro de esta calle, centro comercial de Pueblo Nuevo y Sotogrande.
Transparency urges the Consistory to to report on the project for the underground car park in Pueblo Nuevo
The San Roque Town Hall continues to fail to respond to citizen petitions that have been made since May about the underground parking project in the commercial area of Sierra Bermeja, so the procedure reached the Transparency Council of Andalusia as a complaint, according to the neighbourhood pla-
tform ‘San Roque Vivo’. The neighbourhood platform ‘San Roque Vivo’, announced that after five months since the citizens’ petitions, the Transparency Council finally resolved that the information must be handed over to the citizens. In its resolution, the Andalusian Transparency Council also indi-
cates that the San Roque Town Hall has not only not replied to the citizens who requested the public documentation, but also, as of the date of the resolution, to the Council itself, so no allegations or excuses that the Council could give to justify the delay have been taken into account.
It should be remembered that according to transparency regulations, administrations have one month to deliver what is requested of them, although San Roque Town Council follows a protocol of silence until it receives resolutions that oblige it, which usually delays access by an average of six months. Once
the documentation is received, it is expected to be made public among the affected neighbours, so that they can contrast the rumours with the concrete and official data, including the tests carried out in May on the ground, about the future of this street, the commercial centre of Pueblo Nuevo and Sotogrande.

To show an image of the highest level, of high quality and at the height of a resort of the highest demands, typical of the luxury segment in which Sotogrande is located and established as one of the main residential destinations in southern Europe, entails a series of commitments in adequacy, maintenance and conservation that must prevail beyond the perimeter of the urbanisation itself.
This is the case with the annexes, verges and ‘ditches’ on the auxiliary road (which in this case would be the main road) that connects the entrance area to Sotogrande Alto [bridge over the dual carriageway that links both areas of the urbanisation], totally neglected, with rubbish and debris and which leaves a terrible image. La vivienda de segunda mano en Andalucía, en septiembre de 2024, tuvo un precio medio en ascenso del 5,86% frente al tramo estival de 2024. Interanualmente, se produjo una subida del 17,14%, la segunda más intensa del país. Mensualmente, se revalorizó un 1,21%.
Andalucía fue la octava autonomía más cara del país, por detrás de Baleares, entre otras. En cuanto a la vivienda de segunda mano en España, según este portal especializado (Pisos), en septiembre de 2024 registró un precio medio en subida trimestral del 4,64%.
De un año a otro, la subida fue del 15,47%, mientras que el repunte mensual fue del 1,16%.
Trimestralmente, todas las provincias andaluzas subieron. Huelva (7,37%) fue la novena provincia española que más subió. Interanualmente, volvieron a crecer todas, arrojando Málaga (21,29%) el segundo ascenso más intenso a nivel nacional. En cuestión de precios, la provincia andaluza más cara fue Málaga. En cuanto a las capitales andaluzas, todas crecieron trimestralmente. Málaga (6,93%) fue la décima en el
ranking de repuntes nacionales. Frente al pasado año, todas las capitales andaluzas incrementaron sus precios. Málaga (23,66%) fue la segunda capital española que más subió. En el apartado de precios, Málaga marcó el quinto precio más alto de España, bastante alejada de Jaén (1.227 €/m²), que fue la más asequible del país. An almost incomprehensible time lag, by all parties and with almost daily work by workers, which continues without service, opening or announcement of inauguration and/or completion of the work. Sotogrande, vigilancia y basuras...
Todos podemos estar de acuerdo en que Sotogrande es una gran y hermosa burbuja.
Como residente aquí, sé exactamente cómo se siente; la seguridad te hace sentir completamente a salvo, los árboles están bellamente cuidados, la basura se recoge todas las mañanas y todo está impecable... hasta que sales por las puertas.
Sotogrande está considerado como uno de los complejos turísticos más exclusivos de Europa, algo que se ve arruinado por la forma en que se mantienen las afueras. La cantidad de basura en la carretera es más que repugnante, pero el mayor problema es que... ¡a nadie le importa!
¿Debe el Ayuntamiento de San Roque mantener limpias las calles? ¿O es tarea de la Junta de Andalucía? Todavía no lo sabemos, pero lo cierto es que ¡todavía hay basura!
Durante el año, pero especialmente en los meses de verano, Sotogrande genera tanto turismo y (por tanto) dinero, que desgraciadamente no se invierte en mantener limpios y seguros los pueblos que lo rodean. El otro día volvía del supermercado y la gente que iba delante del mío me tiró por la ventanilla una botella de agua vacía. ¿Cómo puede ser eso aceptable? ¿Cómo puede alguien pensar que esto es sostenible? Han limpiado la zona desde Mar y Sol hasta la rotonda de debajo del Lidl para hacer las obras y ha quedado preciosa. Claro que unos meses después, ¡hay latas y
botellas por todas partes!
¡No entiendo cómo la gente piensa que tirar basura por la ventana (a la larga) no les afecta también a ellos!
¡Sólo hay un mundo en el que vivimos y literalmente lo estamos destruyendo! Pero siento que este problema será constante y tendremos que hacer algo para detener esta tontería.
¿Quién debe vigilar esto? ¿Quién debe recoger la basura? ¿Quién debe hacerse responsable? Éstas son las preguntas reales que debemos abordar.
Sotogrande vuelve a ser un destino para familias que buscan un lugar al que llamar hogar donde sus hijos puedan crecer felices y seguros, ¡y en un entorno limpio! ¡No lo estropeemos una vez más por el desinterés de las zonas aledañas en mantener limpias sus carreteras!

Sotogrande, vigilance and rubbish...
We can all agree that Sotogrande is a big and beautiful bubble.
As a resident here, I know exactly what people feel; the security makes you feel completely safe, the trees are beautifully kept, the waste is collected every morning and everything is impeccable...until you go out the doors.
Sotogrande is considered one of the most exclusive tourist resorts in Europe, something that is ruined by the way that the outskirts are maintained. The amount of waste on the road is highly repugnant, but the biggest problem is that... nobody cares!
Should the Council of San Roque keep the streets clean? Or is it the task of the Regional Government of Andalusia? We still don’t know, but the fact is that there is still waste!
During the year, but especially in the summer months, Sotogrande generates so much tourism and (therefore) money, which unfortunately isn’t invested in keeping the surrounding towns clean and safe.
The other day I was coming back from the supermarket and the people in front of me threw an empty bottle of water out of the window. How can that be acceptable? How can somebody think that this is sustainable? They cleaned the area from Mar y Sol to the roundabout below Lidl in order to undertake works and it looked beautiful. Of course, a few months later, there are cans and bottles everywhere!
I don’t understand how people think that throwing rubbish out the window doesn’t affect them too (in the long term)!
We only have one world to live in and we are literally destroying it!
However, I feel that this problem will be constant and we will have to do something to stop this silliness Who should monitor this? Who should collect the waste? Who should take responsibility? These are the real questions that we should tackle.
Sotogrande is once again a destination for families looking for a place to call home where their children can grow up happy and safe, and in a clean environment! We shouldn’t spoil it again due to a lack of interest from the surrounding areas in keeping their roads clean!

• Las obras avanzan en la zona más cercana al puerto deportivo, en los aparcamientos de la playa.
Nuevo impulso en actividades deportivas y de ocio para jóvenes en la zona de Torreguadiaro. En los últimos días ya se puede comprobar el movimiento de operarios y maquinaria para dar forma a un nuevo ‘Skate park’ en la zona de Torreguadiaro.
Concretamente se ubica en el complejo de aparcamientos de la playa de Torreguadiaro, en su extremos más al sur, pegado al camino que conecta con el puerto deportivo de Sotogrande. Con esta nueva adquisición para la barriada completa un notable espacio deportivo y de ocio que se suma al ya existente en la planta baja de los aparcamientos.

Encantado de tenerte, nuevamente, en nuestras páginas Jorge. De regreso a Sotogrande y en primer objetivo una nueva edición del EDAM. ¿Con qué sensaciones llegas?
Muy buenas, el placer es mío. La verdad es que llego bien, con sensaciones normales. Tampoco muy buenas, ni malas, solo espero poder hacer un buen resultado en Sotogrande. La verdad que estaría bien.
¿Qué balance haces de la temporada hasta el momento?
Tengo que reconocer que la temporada ha sido bastante larga, sobre todo por los viajes, han sido muchísimos. Y bueno, hemos tenido semanas buenas y otras no tan buenas. Pero podría
decir que está siendo una temporada decente, eso sí, con muchísimos viajes.
Myrtle, Doha y el Betfred British Masters han marcado tu año…
Pues sí, la verdad que esos tres torneos estuvieron bien, también pasar el corte del Open Británico estuvo muy bien. Fue genial esa remontada, quizás, lo mejor de esta temporada.
¿Cómo estás gestionando esta temporada en el PGA Tour?
Bueno, reconozco que tener la temporada con PGA Tour no está siendo nada fácil. Lo mismo que te he comentado, muchos viajes. Además, también he tenido que adaptarme a campos nuevos. Y por otro lado, la gente
que allí no es muy sociable tampoco. Además, el nivel medio es algo más alto. La verdad es que no está siendo sencillo.
¿Qué está siendo lo más duro? Lo más duro, sin lugar a dudas, las horas de vuelo. Son muchísimas horas y es difícil llevarlo todo. Por lo demás, la verdad es que está siendo una buena experiencia. Como te digo, el nivel de exigencia es un poco más alto. Pero todo eso forma parte de la experiencia y me está gustando.
qué pasa, yo solo intento jugar bien y lo demás no puedo hacer nada realmente. Es complicado responder a ello.
¿Cómo fue la espinita de quedarse fuera de los Juegos de París?
Pues quizás, no perder el año. Es cierto que fui a Suecia para meterme en los Juegos, lo conseguí y luego me sacó David en el US Open. Pero la verdad es que hizo un buen papel. Él también hizo un esfuerzo para meterse en los juegos y al final, pues bueno, él fue el que tuvo
¿Y cómo compaginas los torneos con el DP World?
Si te digo la verdad, como puedo. Intenté jugar muchos torneos a ver si me metía en las Olimpiadas, que me quedé justo fuera y bueno, ahora con el objetivo de que a ver si llego a la final de Dubai. Para ello necesito jugar bien alguna semana de aquí al final de año.
¿Crees que el golf camina, a corto o medio plazo, hacia un calendario o formato unitario entre todos los circuitos y competiciones?
Es una pregunta bastante difícil. No lo sé, lo veo complicado a corto plazo y a medio también se me hace difícil. Veremos a ver
la suerte de ir.
¿Guardas un bonito recuerdo de Tokio y aquellas Olimpiadas pos-pandemia?
Lo cierto es que guardo un recuerdo sin más. Es verdad que es una suerte la experiencia de poder decir que he ido a las Olimpiadas. Pero bueno estaba de vacaciones, llegué unas horas antes de mi tee time y la verdad es que no pude disfrutar mucho de la experiencia.
Poniendo el foco, nuevamente en el EDAM 2024. ¿Te ves con opciones de pelear por lo más alto y mejorar ese Top 20 del pasado octubre en Sotogrande?
La verdad que es un torneo que en Sotogrande lo jugaba bien an-
tes. Honestamente, me siento capacitado de que si juego bien puedo ganar cualquier torneo del Circuito Europeo. El caso es que salgatodorodadoytengaalgode fortuna para poder estar ahí arriba.
¿Cómo se adapta a tu estilo de juego o te adaptas tú al Real Club de Golf Sotogrande? ¿Te condiciona en exceso?
Bueno, yo creo que se adapta bien a mi juego. Es cierto que yo si juego bien me puedo adaptar a la mayoría de los campos y confío en que Sotogrande no va a ser diferente. Aunque mi tipo de juego se adapta bien al campo, si juego bien todos los campos se me pueden dar bien.
¿Sigues siendo algo escéptico con las Redes Sociales? Realmente no me hacen gracia las redes sociales. Si bien es cierto que son necesarias y tienen cosas positivas, también trae consigo muchas negativas y hay que tener bastante cuidado.
Antes de acabar, mi compañera Marisa [cacereña], no me perdonaría finalizar sin preguntarte cómo definirías al resto del mundo qué es la “patatera” o las “pruebas de cerdo” Ja, ja, ja. Pues, a ver, la “patatera” es como morcilla pero de patatas, muy de Cáceres, ni siquiera es de Badajoz. Está buena la verdad. Las “pruebas de cerdo” son como una carne así estofada, digamos. Tiene algo de grasa y salsa roja de grease. Las dos cosas están muy buenas, la patatera quizás llame un poco más la atención. Y la de cerdo quizás se ha visto algo más.

‘If I manage to play my game...I can win any tournament on the European Circuit’
It is a pleasure to once again have you among our pages Jorge. Back in Sotogrande and the first target is another edition of the EDAM. What are your feelings going into it?
Hello, the pleasure is mine. The truth is that I am going in well, feeling normal. Not very good, not bad, I just home to have a good result in Sotogrande. Honestly, it would be good.
What is your assessment of the season so far?
I must admit that the season has been quite long, especially with the trips, there have been so many. Well, we have had good weeks and others that weren’t so good. But I could say that it has been a decent season, with so much travelling.
Myrtle, Doha and Betfred British Masters have defined your year…
Yes, honestly those three tournaments were good, also making the cut at the British Open was very good. That comeback was great, it was perhaps the best part of this season.
How are you managing this season on the PGA Tour?
Well, I admit that having the season with the PGA Tour hasn’t been easy at all. The same thing I mentioned, lots of travel. Also, I have had to adapt to new courses. And on the other hand, the people there aren’t very sociable either. Also, the average level is somewhat higher. The truth is that it hasn’t been easy.
What has the toughest part been?
Undoubtedly, the toughest part
has been the flight time. There are so many hours and it is difficult to manage it all. Besides that, it has honestly been a very good experience. As I say, the level of demand is somewhat higher However, all of that is part of the experience and I am enjoying it.
And how do you combine the tournaments with the DP World? Honestly, as best as I can. I tried to play lots of tournaments to see if I could make it to the Olympics, I narrowly missed out and well, now I play with the aim of reaching the final in Dubai. Therefore, I need to play well some weeks from here to the end of the year.
Do you think that golf is heading, in the short and medium-term, towards a standard calendar or format between all the circuits and competitions? It is quite a difficult question. I don’t know, it seems difficult in the short term and also appears difficult in the medium term. We will see what happens, I simply try to play well, and as for the rest I can’t really do anything really. It is difficult to respond to that.
What about the unfinished business of missing out in the Paris Olympics?
Well maybe, I didn’t want to waste the year. It is true that I went to Sweden to make it to the Games, I achieved it and then David took me out at the US Open. But the truth is that he played well. He also tried to get to the Olympics and in the end, well, he was the one who was lucky to go.
Do you have good memories of
Tokyo and those post-pandemic Olympics?
Honestly, I have memories, nothing more. Honestly, I am lucky to have the experience of being able to say that I have been to the Olympics. But well, I was on holidays, I arrived a few hours before my tee time, and honestly I wasn’t really able to enjoy the experience a lot.
Focusing again on EDAM 2024. Do you see yourself as having the option to battle for the top spots and improving on the Top 20 last October in Sotogrande? The truth is that it is a tournament that I played well before in Sotogrande. Honestly, I feel capable of winning any tournament on the European Circuit if I play well. The fact it that everything has to go well and I need to have some luck to be up there.
How does your style of play adapt or do you adapt to Real Club de Golf Sotogrande? Does it overly restrict you?
Well, I think it adapts well to my play. The truth is that if I play well I can adapt to most courses and I am confident that Sotogrande is not going to be different. Although my style of play adapts well to the course, if I play well all courses can suit me well.
Do you remain a little sceptic about social media?
I am not keen at all about social media. Although it is true that they are necessary and have positive things, they also bring a lot of negatives and it is necessary to be quite careful. Before ending, my colleague Marisa (from Cáceres), I couldn’t forgive myself if I end without
asking you how you would define “patatera” or the “pruebas de cerdo” to everyone else. Hahaha. Well the “patatera” is like morcilla (black sausage) it is very typical of Cáceres, it isn’t even from Badajoz. Honestly, it is good. The “pruebas de cerdo” are like a stewed meat we could say. They are somewhat greasy and have a greasy red sauce. Both are really good, the patatera is perhaps a little more eye-catching. The pork one has perhaps been more popular.

Sotogrande ha servido de escenario para triunfos fundamentales en la carrera de golfistas que han brillado en los torneos más exigentes.
Aunque el recorrido de San Roque siempre ha destacado por los torneos que ha acogido en el ámbito amateur, los profesionales que han pasado por allí han dejado huella. En 1966, con el campo recién inaugurado, el argentino Roberto de Vicenzo se impuso en el Open de España de aquel año jugando magistralmente el tramo decisivo de la última jornada y justo al año siguiente se hizo con el Open Championship en Royal Liverpool. Veinte años después, Seve Ballesteros se adjudicaba en el Real Club de Sotogrande
el Campeonato de España de Profesionales, preludio de su tercer Open Championship y (quinto major) que conquistó en 1988 en Royal Lytham & St Annes.
A otros jugadores su paso por el Real Club de Golf Sotogrande les sirvió de trampolín imprescindible. Ese fue el caso de José María Olazábal, ganador de la Copa del Rey de 1983 en este recorrido, un anticipo de los triunfos que llegarían posteriormente en su etapa profesional, entre los que se encuentran los Masters de Augusta de 1994 y 1999.

El Real Club de Golf Sotogrande, gran reserva de biodiversidad
• El Real Club de Golf Sotogrande, sede del Estrella Damm N.A. Andalucía Masters, ha puesto en marcha un censo de avifauna que se suma al compromiso con la defensa y el estudio de su biodiversidad.
El Real Club de Golf Sotogrande recibió un merecido aval a su compromiso medioambiental por medio de la certificación GEO (Golf Environment Organization), la más prestigiosa y exigente de Europa específica para campos de golf. De este modo se acredita que la responsabilidad medioambiental es la principal guía en los trabajos de mantenimiento del campo y de todas las instalaciones del club, y se marca un objetivo claro: mejorar el entorno natural y garantizar su futuro desarrollo.
Entre las medidas de planificación de esta gestión medioambiental, enmarcadas todas en la certificación CEO, los responsables del club decidieron hacer un censo de avifauna, proyecto que se prolongará a lo largo de un año y que servirá para tomar medidas que favorezcan la conservación o el aumento de número de aves presentes en el campo.
Como preámbulo al censo de este año encargado a Golfandbirds, en otoño pasado se instalaron 45 cajas nido en alcornoques para favorecer la nidificación, “hogares” que ya han aprovechado especies habituales en la zona como herrerillos o carboneros.
Al frente del proyecto del censo está Sergio Tirado, director de Golfandbirds y biólogo especialista en ornitología que cuenta con más de 20
años de experiencia en gestión medioambiental.
“Los campos de golf son reservas de biodiversidad y desde haceunadécadaestoycentrado en la difusión y divulgación de su riqueza para tener una idea cabal de lo que hay e intentar potenciar la presencia de avifauna en ellos”, nos explica.
Gracias a sus esfuerzos, solo en el primer semestre de 2024 se han podido contabilizar cerca de 2000 ejemplares de 54 especies diferentes pertenecientes a 30 familias, muchos de ellos de especies conocidas para el gran público pero que merecen atención especial.
“Abundan las aves del orden de los paseriformes (currucas, herrerillos, lavanderas, pinzo-
nes, gorriones, carboneros, jilgueros), de la familia de los hirundínidos (aviones y golondrinas de distintas especies) y, alrededor de los lagos, las aves acuáticas. También hemos detectado la presencia de especies menos habituales y muy llamativas, como el cernícalo vulgar, el águila calzada, el mosquitero papialbo o el papamoscas común”, recapitula Sergio Tirado.
La ubicación privilegiada del Real Club de Golf Sotogrande lo convierte en un refugio ideal tanto para las aves residentes como para las migratorias, al encontrarse en una zona de paso muy cercana al estrecho de Gibraltar.
“La perfecta integración del campo en el paisaje y su ubi-
cación junto a la finca de Guadalquitón, el último alcornocal que llega hasta el mar, favorece la presencia de las aves que rondan el parque natural de Los Alcornocales”, explica el biólogo. “Además, la cercanía del paraje natural del estuario del río Guadiaro hace que la zona cuente con una protección especial, algo que se refleja en la variedad de la fauna presente”.
De hecho, la figura de «paraje natural» del estuario ofrece un nivel de protección legal superior al de «parque natural», circunstancia que redunda en beneficio de la riqueza faunística y vegetal.
El censo de avifauna que se está llevando a cabo y que continuará a lo largo de 2024
es una muestra más de la vocación del Real Club de Golf Sotogrande y de su compromiso pleno con la conservación del medio ambiente. Este planteamiento, y el uso responsable de los recursos naturales (especialmente del agua) está presente en todos los trabajos de mantenimiento del campo de golf, que buscan la excelencia del estado del césped a través de prácticas sostenibles y respetuosas con la naturaleza.
Como nos contaba el año pasado Patrick Allende, director de campo, en el estudio de impacto medioambiental realizado para la última restauración del campo, gracias a las medidas implementadas se cuantificó un ahorro del 20 % en consumo de agua y una reducción del 25 % otros parámetros como la emisión de CO2, la generación de residuos no peligrosos y la emisión de ruido.
Además, el Real Club de Golf Sotogrande ha puesto en marcha un programa a gran escala de instalación de paneles solares para producir energía y sustituir paulatinamente el parque de maquinaria tradicional por otro eléctrico capaz de operar con los recursos generados en el club.

Real Club de Golf Sotogrande, a great biodiversity reserve
Real Club de Golf Sotogrande received a well-deserved endorsement of its environmental commitment through the GEO (Golf Environment Organization) certification, the most prestigious and demanding in Europe specifically for golf courses. This accredits that environmental responsibility is the main guide in the maintenance work of the course and all the club’s facilities, and sets a clear objective: to improve the natural environment and ensure its future development.
Among the planning measures for this environmental management, all framed within the CEO certification, the club’s managers decided to carry out a bird census, a project that will last for a year and which will serve to take measures that favour the conservation or increase the number of birds present on the course.
As a preamble to this year’s census, 45 nest boxes were installed in cork oak trees last autumn to encourage nesting, ‘homes’ that have already been used by common species in the area such as tits and coal tits.
Leading the census project is Sergio Tirado, director of Golfandbirds and a biologist specialising in ornithology with more than 20 years’ experience in environmental management.
‘Golf courses are biodiversity reserves and for the last decade I have been focused on disseminating and publicising their richness in order to have a complete idea of what there is and to try to promote the presence of birdlife on them,’ he explains. Thanks to his efforts, in the first half of 2024 alone he has been able to count nearly 2,000 specimens of 54 different species belonging to 30 families, many of them species known to the general public but which deserve special attention.
‘There is an abundance of birds of the passerine order (warblers, tits, wagtails, wagtails, finches, sparrows, chickadees, goldfinches), of the hirundinidae family (planes and swallows of different species) and, around the lakes, waterfowl. We have also detected the presence of less common but very striking species, such as the common kestrel, the booted eagle, the pied flycatcher or the common flycatcher’, recapitulates Sergio Tirado.
The privileged location of the Real Club de Golf Sotogrande makes it an ideal refuge for both resident and migratory birds, being in an area of passage very close to the Strait of Gibraltar.
‘The perfect integration of the course in the landscape and its location next to the Guadalquitón estate, the last cork oak grove that reaches the sea, favours the presence of the birds that frequent the Los Alcornocales natural park,’ explains the biologist. ‘In addition, the proximity of the natural area of the Guadiaro river estuary means
that the area enjoys special protection, which is reflected in the variety of fauna present.
In fact, the figure of ‘natural area’ of the estuary offers a higher level of legal protection than that of ‘natural park’, a circumstance which benefits the richness of the fauna and vegetation.
The birdlife census that is being carried out and will continue throughout 2024 is a further de-
monstration of the vocation of the Real Club de Golf Sotogrande and its full commitment to environmental conservation. This approach, and the responsible use of natural resources (especially water) is present in all maintenance work on the golf course, which seeks excellence in the state of the turf through sustainable practices and respect for nature.
As
Patrick Allende, director of
the course, told us last year, in the environmental impact study carried out for the last restoration of the course, thanks to the measures implemented, a 20% saving in water consumption and a 25% reduction in other parameters such as CO2 emissions, the generation of non-hazardous waste and noise emissions were quantified.
In addition, the Real Club de Golf Sotogrande has launched a
large-scale programme to install solar panels to produce energy and gradually replace the traditional machinery with electric machinery capable of operating with the resources generated at the club.

El Real Club de Golf Sotogrande, una de las grandes ‘masterpieces’ del genio Robert Trent Jones, fue el inicio y desencadenante de lo que luego sería Sotogrande, la raíz sobre la que todo se iría construyendo y tomando forma. El inicio y primera piedra del sueño de Joseph McMicking que se extiende hasta nuestros días. Una forma de entender un lugar, un estilo de vida y el golf, como en ningún otro destino del planeta.
El campo de golf de Sotogrande fue realizado en el año 1963 y se constituiría como club en 1964, siendo considerado desde ese momento y en la actualidad, uno de los mejores recorridos de toda Europa. Sotogrande fue el primer trabajo de Trent Jones en el continente europeo y marcó todo un hito en la construcción de campos de golf a este lado del Atlántico;
no sólo por el soberbio diseño que realizó el maestro, sino por las diferentes innovaciones que rodearon al proyecto: fue el primer campo de Europa sembrado con Bermuda 419 y el primer complejo de estas características en instalar un sistema de riego totalmente automatizado.
En 1966, Real Club de Golf Sotogrande vivió su primera gran cita con los mejores jugadores de Europa en el Open de España que ganó Roberto de Vicenzo con 279 golpes. En 1970 nació la Copa Jerez, origen del actual Campeonato Europeo de las Naciones Copa Real Club de Golf Sotogrande, que recibe cada año a los mejores amateurs de una veintena de países europeos. El evento, adquirió rápidamente un gran prestigio internacional dentro del calendario amateur. En 1998 el torneo comenzó a celebrarse por equipos pasando a denominarse Campeonato Europeo de las Naciones; nombre que mantiene hoy en día.
Uno de los encuentros con más solera de la urbanización por la que han pasado grandes jugadores como Sergio García, Rory Mcllroy, Padraig Harrington, Francesco Molinari, Shane Lowry o Catherine Lacoste, entre otros. Es tal el nivel de juego de este encuentro del Real Club de Golf de Sotogrande, que está considerado el quinto en importancia por detrás del British Amateur, el Campeonato de Europa Individual y por equipos y la Copa del Rey de España. Sotogrande fue el escenario del Campeonato de España Amateur de 1983; también resuena aún la victoria en 1987 de Severiano Ballesteros en el Campeonato de España de Profesionales, una cita inolvidable. Nombrar al Real Club de Golf Sotogrande es sinónimo de muchas cosas: historia, leyenda, competición, grandes estrellas del golf mundial, pero en especial, es hablar de excelencia, calidad y máximo nivel en toda la dimensión de un club especial.

The Sotogrande golf course was built in 1963 and was constituted as a club in 1964, being considered from that moment and nowadays, one of the best courses in Europe. Sotogrande was the first work of Trent Jones on the European continent and marked a milestone in the construction of golf courses on this side of the Atlantic; not only because of the superb design by the master, but also because of the various innovations that surrounded the project: it was the first course in Europe to be sown with Bermuda 419 and the first complex of these characteristics to install a fully automated irrigation system.
In 1966, Real Club de Golf Sotogrande experienced its first major event with the best players in Europe in the Spanish Open, won by Roberto de Vicenzo with 279 strokes. In 1970 the Jerez Cup was born, the origin of the current European Nations Championship Real Club de Golf Sotogrande Cup, which welcomes every year the best amateurs from twenty European countries. The event quickly acquired great international prestige in the amateur calendar. In 1998 the tournament began to be held by teams and was renamed the European Nations Championship, a name it still bears today.
It is one of the most established events in the urbanisation and has been played by great players such as Sergio García, Rory Mcllroy, Padraig Harrington, Francesco Molinari, Shane Lowry and Catherine Lacoste, among others. Such is the level of play of this meeting of the Real Club de Golf de Sotogrande, which is considered the fifth in importance behind the British Ama-

Nuevo buen año para el golf
La celebración del Estrella Damm N.A. Andalucía Masters en el Real Club de Golf Sotogrande constituye una oportunidad para reflexionar sobre el giro positivo que ha registrado el deporte en los últimos años.
A menudo destacamos en EL PERIÓDICO DE SOTOGRANDE la importancia del deporte del green, no solo para la salud física y psicológica de las personas, de cualquier edad y condición, sino también para la salud económica de nuestro país. Es sabido que el golf es un motor económico, porque genera una importante actividad económica, considerables inversiones turísticas e inmobiliarias asociadas al deporte, y es un importante creador de empleo de calidad en España. Pero en tiempos recientes el golf ha añadido una novedad que conviene subrayar: está dejando atrás el período negativo de la
crisis económica y la pandemia. Según informó la Real Federación Española de Golf, los federados en nuestro país eran a finales del año pasado 298.959, divididos entre 297.378 amateurs y 1.581 profesionales, lo que “supone un incremento absoluto de 5.399 licencias durante el pasado ejercicio, que en términos porcentuales es un 1,8% más”. Pero la clave es la tendencia, puesto que indica que llevamos ya un lustro creciendo, con lo cual los datos, concluye la RFEG, revelan “un periodo de afianzamiento que permite ir superando poco a poco, como todos los ámbitos de la sociedad española, los efectos de la crisis económica y la crisis sanitaria del coronavirus de los pasados ejercicios”. The celebration of the Estrella Damm N.A. Andalucía Masters at Real Club de Golf Sotogrande offers an opportunity to reflect on the positive turn that the sport has taken in recent years. Además, quienes participen en este proyecto entrarán en el sorteo de un espectacular paquete VIP para un torneo del DP World Tour en 2025.
Los espectadores del Estrella Damm N.A. Andalucía Masters disponen de una herramienta para medir las emisiones de gases de efecto invernadero que se generan en sus vuelos, transportes o alojamientos. Después, se les dará algunas pautas para reducir estas emisiones y, por último, en la herramienta de compensación se les ofrecerá un abanico de créditos de carbono certificados que podrán adquirir para subsanar las emisiones que no se pueden evitar ni reducir. The Estrella Damm N.A. Anda lucía Masters spectators can use a tool to measure their Greenhouse Gas (GHG) emis sions from flights, transport, and accommodation. After that, they can find some tips and suggestions for ideas on how to best reduce their tra vel-related emissions. Finally a portfolio of high-quality certified carbon credits are available in the offsetting tool. These can be purchased to offset travel emissions that cannot be avoided or redu ced.

This initiative adds to a new tool that will allow DP World Tour players to calculate and offset their greenhouse ga (GHG) emissions when trave lling to and from tournament – a first for professional golf. The easy-to-use tool will allow players to input their event related flight informa tion and then purchase veri fied carbon credits to offset their calculated GHG emis sions. Carbon credits in the tool are all from Gold Stan dard accredited projects that support a range of United Nations Sustainable Develop ment Goals. Several players have already taken the initiative of offset ting their annual travel in re cent years. This new tool will encourage greater take-up across the full 800+ member ship, with a target set for 90% of players across the DP World Tour, Challenge Tour Legends Tour and G4D Tour regularly offsetting their tour nament travel by 2027.
Five-time Race to Dubai Champion Rory McIlroy has been offsetting his tourna ment travel related GHG emissions for the past four years. He said: “As golfers we have the opportunity to tra vel all over the world doing
the job we love, but I do have a conscience about the impact that can have on the environment, and that’s why I began taking steps a few years ago to offset my carbon footprint and make my
travel neutral. I think we can all play our part in some way or another, and it’s great to see the DP World Tour launching this new tool to help and encourage members to track and offset their travel.”
The Green Drive programme was developed to promote environmental responsibility in order to generate a positive impact at each of the tournaments on the tour’s calendar. In addition, the DP World Tour has signed the United Nations Sport for Climate Action initiative and has committed to reduce its carbon emissions by 50% by 2030, and to reach net zero carbon emissions by 2040.

• Steven Alderson tuvo que contener las lágrimas tras su emotiva victoria en el G4D Tour para proclamarse primer campeón autista de la historia del G4D Tour.

Affectionately known as Spud, Alderson arrived at Real Club de Golf Sotogrande full of confidence having won the South Australian All Abilities Championship by three shots over the field at Kooyonga in late September.
The 14 handicapper is no stranger to big wins, announcing himself to a wider golf audience with victory in the 2020 South Australian Mid Amateur Men’s Championship, and last year winning the Webex Players Series South Australia.

Convocado el XXXI Concurso Nacional de Cuentos “José Manuel Álvarez Gil”
Un año más, el Colegio San José convoca el Concurso Nacional de Cuentos “José Manuel Álvarez Gil”, con el objeto de honrar la memoria del fundador del colegio y de fomentar la creatividad literaria entre los jóvenes. El Concurso, del que este año se celebra su XXXI edición, goza de gran acogida a nivel nacional y se dirige a escolares que pueden participar en tres categorías: Educación Primaria, Educación Secundaria y Enseñanzas Medias (Bachillerato y Formación Profesional).
En palabras de su coordinador, el profesor D. Juan José Bazán, “el concurso pretende fomentar el ejercicio de la escritura, la redacción y la comprensión textual. Dejando a un lado la pretensión de buscar especiales cualidades literarias, cuando un alumno hace un trabajo para nuestro concurso está invirtiendo, casi sin saberlo, en su
propia formación verbal”.
Los objetivos que el Colegio San José se plantea con este concurso se cumplen de lleno en cada edición, como demuestran las obras ganadoras. “El hecho de configurar una historia, buscar el lenguaje adecuado y someterlo a una disciplina ortográfica y de redacción es ya un objetivo educativo de primer orden para un colegio cuyo principal propósito es la formación integral de la persona. En segundo lugar, el concurso también fomenta el ejercicio de la creatividad. Los alumnos que tienen un marcado talento literario encuentran en nuestro concurso el espacio ideal para desarrollar sus inquietudes”, afirma Bazán.
El Concurso está dotado con los siguientes premios:
Educación Secundaria: 700€, ordenador portátil, Apple TV 4K, lote de libros y trofeo. Enseñanzas Medias: 1.000€, ordenador portátil, iPad de última generación, lote de libros y trofeo.

• La campaña se organizará por cita previa y está dirigida a las mujeres mayores de 50 años que no se hayan realizado ninguna mamografía en el último año.
El Día Internacional del Cáncer de Mama se celebra como cada año el 19 de octubre y es una fecha marcada en el calendario por el Hospital Quirónsalud Campo de Gibraltar. Con motivo de esta jornada internacional, el hospital de Los Barrios pone el foco en concienciar sobre la importancia de la detección precoz de cualquier anomalía relacionada con esta enfermedad, instando para ello, a que las pacientes se realicen revisiones periódicas. En este sentido, el centro hospitalario de Palmones realizará mamografías gra-
tuitas a mujeres que no hayan pasado ninguna revisión en el último año y que sean mayores de 50. Para acceder a estas pruebas y favorecer una perfecta organización de estas, las pacientes interesadas deberán pedir cita previa llamando al 956 798 300. Según datos de la Sociedad Española de Oncología Médica (SEOM), el cáncer de mama es el tumor más diagnosticado del mundo. En España, aproximadamente el 30% de los tumores diagnosticados son de este tipo y actualmente entre las mujeres
de nuestro país es más frecuente que el cáncer de pulmón, cuerpo uterino, colorrectal, tiroides y páncreas. La Autoridad Portuaria de la Bahía de Algeciras (APBA) ha reafirmado, un año más en este 2024, su compromiso con el bienestar social al aprobar su colaboración con el Banco de Alimentos del Campo de Gibraltar a través de una subvención económica. Con esta aportación, la APBA pretende seguir contribuyendo al desarrollo de iniciativas solidarias que ayudan a paliar las necesidades alimentarias de las familias más desfavorecidas de la comarca. El convenio, refrendado por representantes de ambas entidades, refleja el interés de la Autoridad Portuaria por apoyar a las organizaciones locales que trabajan activamente en la lucha contra la pobreza y la exclusión social. Este respaldo permite al Banco de Alimentos del Campo de Gibraltar fortalecer su labor de recogida y distribución de alimentos, garantizando que un mayor número de personas en situación de vulnerabilidad puedan

La Selección Española Sub-21 de fútbol elige Sotogrande como cuartel general
• El conjunto de Santi Denia se hospeda y se entrena en las instalaciones del resort para la dupla de partidos en La Línea y Algeciras para la clasificación del Europeo 2025.

La Selección española sub-21 disputa sus dos últimos partidos de clasificación para el Europeo de Eslovaquia de 2025 en La Línea de la Concepción y en Algeciras. Nombres como Mateo Joseph, Marc Casadó, Beñat Turrientes, Pablo Torre, Robert Navarro o Mosquera disfrutan de estos días el imponente resort en el sur de España.
Concretamente, se encuentra hospedada plantilla y cuerpo técnico en el Hotel Encinar de Sotogrande y a diario utilizan las fantásticas instalaciones y canchas de polo de la zona de Los Pinos para ejercitarse de cara los dos compromisos previstos para esta ventana de octubre para internacionalidades.
El jueves 10 de octubre el equipo dirigido por Santi Denia venció por 4-3 a Kazajistán en el Estadio Municipal Ciudad de la Línea y cinco días des-
pués, el martes 15 de octubre, el combinado nacional cerró la fase de clasificación en el Estadio Nuevo Mirador de Algeciras frente a Malta (6-0). En el último partido oficial disputado el pasado mes de marzo el combinado nacional logró una trabajada e importante victoria ante Bélgica en Almería por uno a cero (Mateo Joseph). Antes de estos encuentros, el equipo español abrirá la temporada con dos partidos oficiales en el mes de septiembre en los que visitará a Escocia y Hungría.

The extraordinary attention to detail, care and effort that went into staging the 2023 Solheim Cup on the stunning Finca Cortesin course has been spectacularly captured in a new short film that captures the epic duel between Europe and the United States.
The highlight came when our national heroine, Carlota Ciganda, holed the decisive putt for the European team in the afternoon sunshine in September last year, marking the close of years of meticulous preparations in every aspect of the course in southern Spain. This eight-minute short film vividly presents the hard work that made possible the thrilling 14-14 draw, which allowed Europe to retain the cup. It highlights the collaboration of the agronomy and maintenance teams, as well as the extensive operational and media operations as the world focused on the Cabell B Robinson-designed pitch.
The documentary reveals the intense and detailed effort that went into the making of this biennial event, showing the perfectly manicured greens and fairways, the carefully organised grandstands and the facilities for the public, which allowed for a festive interaction between players, fans and media.

Tras este primer asalto y comienzo de las series otoñales, el monotipo ‘Península’ de John Bassadone da un paso adelante y confirma su liderato provisional, pero si el sábado era el único ganador de la jornada, este domingo con tres nuevas pruebas, ha tenido que tirar de rentas para sobreponerse al envite de sus rivales.
Con un sexto en la primera prueba, el equipo de Bassadone debe al descarte y a un 2º y un 3º posteriores que las cosas no fueron a mayores, frente a la reacción de los equipos ‘GVS PAS de Nacho Cifuentes y Rafa Díaz (CN Bevelle/ RCN La Línea) y ‘Team Kouko Ciudad de Marbella’ (RCN Algeciras/

It only took one gathering of the Alcaidesa Marina J/80 Circuit in the waters of La Línea de la Concepción to make it clear that the edition this season will be one of the most exciting to ever take place. Following the first heat and start of the autumn series, the monotype ‘Península’ of John Bassadone took a step forward and confirmed its provisional leadership, but while on Saturday it was the only winner of the day, on Sunday with three new heats, it had to use its advantage to overcome the challenge of its opponents.
With a sixth place finish in the first heat, Bassadone’s team owes to the discarded heat and a subsequent 2nd and 3rd place finish the fact that things didn’t get more serious, up against the reaction of the teams ‘GVS PAS of Nacho Cifuentes and Rafa Díaz (CN Bevelle/RCN La Línea) and ‘Team Kouko Ciudad de Marbella’ (RCN Algeciras/ RCM Marbella) of Daniel Cuevas and Pedro Butrón, stars in the second heat, with a 3rd, a 1st, and a 3nd from Cifuentes and Díaz, and two 1st places and a 4th from the pairing Cuevas and Butron.
With eight points for ‘Península’ compared to ten and eleven from ‘GVS PAS’ and ‘Teal Kouko Ciudad de Marbella’, respectively, the three teams are restarting the season where they left it and leaving all options open ahead of future events.
A battle is also opening up between the teams of the ‘Tacuarita’ of Horacio Cardarelli (CN Bevelle/Alcaidesa Marina, 5th, 5th, and 4th today; ‘Alcaidesa Marina’ (Royal Gibraltar Yacht Club) of Monty Spindler and Alex Dobbs skippered by Amy Pretty, with a magnificent 2nd place to which it subsequently added a 6th and 5th place, and ‘Aponia Sailing’ of Petter Fjelstad flying the Norwegian flag, 4th, 3rd and 6th, with three points between fourth and sixth place, respectively. The three are competing to be the best among themselves and have made it clear they have the capacity to be at the top.
The ranking is closed out by the team ‘Nexum Capital’ of Roberto Santa Cruz (RCN de la Línea/RCT Sotogrande) which only competed in single event this weekend. The heat on Sunday was a day marked by gusty winds of an intensity between 12 and 18
knots in the Bay of La Línea. The next event will be on the weekend of 19 and 20 October,
the second of the three events that will complete the autumn series.
