WWHEN EVERYONE WANTS TO BE SOTOGRANDE
e are experiencing one of the most successful cycles for the projection and growth of the resort in recent decades. If you ask me, almost since the inevitable consequence of expansion of the 1997 Ryder Cup, Sotogrande has not zealously had so many first-class and top-rate projects in terms of quality and quantity.
A large part of that, in addition to the always incessant and sought-after polo, is the result of a new golden age of golf in the area. Indeed, by becoming a prime destination with some of the best courses in the world concentrated in an area with a radius of just a few kilometres.
We enjoyed the Solheim Cup a stone’s throw away, the LIV Golf has established itself in a big way with Valderrama as one of its most important stops on the calendar and EDAM, at the historic Real Club de Golf Sotogrande, strengthens the starring role of Sotogrande on the map and in the golf sector. All, as we said, with horses, sailing, rugby, sun, the sea, and of course, the highest level of low density real estate in southern Europe.
Everyone wants and yearns to be Sotogrande at the moment. With awareness, coherence and a sense of opportunity, we should enjoy this cycle intensely and make the most of it. The phases are systemic and we don’t know when the turning point will come, it should catch us ready and the wind will always blow favourably for us.

Es muy fácil. Lo voy a intentar contar con gracia, que me viene de casa, e ironía. Cuando yo termino mi Trabajo de Fin de Grado (estudié Administración de Empresas en el Instituto de Empresas), mi tesis fue un modelo de negocio sobre un artista independiente, cuánto capital necesitaba, qué escenarios tenía previsto& Un poco mi propio per昀l. Mis padres, a la hora de ver mi nombre, me dijeron que si quería dedicarme a esta vida de locos, que les dejara tranquilitos con sus apellidos e invéntate lo que te dé
la gana. Era la época en que ibas tirando currículums para el primer trabajo de lo que fuera. Entonces, en Facebook lo que hacíamos era usar las siglas de nuestros apellidos, era nuestra intimidad. Mi sigla es LR, entonces pensé que si lo llevaba al inglés, al francés, al italiano& De ahí nació un nuevo monstruo, Sofía Ellar.

Va todo de la mano. Detrás de todo, hay unaempresaola昀guradeunaempresaria, como es mi caso. Tienes que dar de comer amuchagente,hacertuspropiosnúmeros, invertir de tu bolsillo& La gente va a redes sociales y cree que vivo de coña y tal, nada más lejos de la realidad. Tú vente un día conmigo, vais a 昀ipar, me acuesto con el corazón a mil. Esto no es coser y cantar, que por cierto habrá una canción en mi próximo disco que se llamará 8Cosiendo y cantando9. El que inventó esa frase nunca cosió un botón y nunca se subió a un escenario. Cuando se baja el telón, hay muchos demonios y muchos disgustos.

Desde 2017 con tu primer proyecto autoproducido y editado. No has parado de trabajar. ¿Qué has aprendido en tu trayectoria?
¿Qué no he aprendido? Mi cumple es el 15 de noviembre, me pillaron los 30 años en Sevilla, en los Grammy Latinos, en la cena POTY (el premio a la Personalidad del Año), sentada con Raw Alejandro, bebiendo algún chupito de tequila. Decíamos que estamos en los 30 y nadie nos quiere, que los 31 tiene que ser otra cosa. Este año se celebran en Miami, en noviembre, y esta vez no me va a pillar llorando, esto va a ser un 昀estón& Tengo mi cuarto disco autoproducido, que no es poco, escrito por supuesto, ya sabéis que soy muy autobiográ昀ca. Y nos va a pillar bailando. El disco va a anunciar ya cierto arraigo y vinculo con México, donde tocamos el 27 de octubre en el Indie Rocks. He querido hacer una fusión entre el
regional mexicano con la canción de autor deSofíadetodalavida. Otrosmatices,como que el pelo me vuelve a crecer poco a poco, en el último disco 8Libre9 me visteis con el pelo corto. Esa Sofía está volviendo& y con toques más mexicanos.
Libre9 es el nombre que has decidido poner a tú último disco. Te hemos escuchado mucho hablar del concepto de libertad.
El mensaje que yo he mandado desde 8Seis peniques9, que fue mi primer disco autoproducido en 2017 y conseguí dos duros. Cuando recuperé la inversión, fui toda seria a devolver el interés, me dijeron 8Péinate, la que estás liando, con昀amos en ti y para nosotros esto es muy divertido. Reinviértelo y sigue petándolo9. Desde entonces, la connotación que hay detrás de todos los discos es ese sinónimo a la
libertad, yo nací en Londres y ese título hacía referencia al precio de la libertad, qué cuesta ser una mujer artista, empresaria e independiente. ¿Qué precio tiene eso?
El per昀l del cantautor y, en especial, en una voz femenina, ¿sigue derribando algunasbarrerasenEspaña?
Te podría contestar desde la negatividad, pero en este momento de mi vida en el que he tomado decisiones importantes, voy a ver el vaso medio lleno. Hay muchísima gente ya en el mundo que está todo el día hablando, educando y cantando desde el 8No9, y yo quiero cantar, crecer y madurar desde el 8Sí9. Vamos a quedarnos en esta línea de los colores de siempre, la alegría, que no nos puede faltar nunca, y la esperanza, que es lo último que se pierde.

Como ya has contado en alguna entrevista, las canciones que compones son autobiográ昀cas en el que re昀ejas diferentes etapas de tu vida, ¿proceso difíciloliberador?
Va por fases. Para estar bien, tienes que pasar por determinados túneles y tormentas, si no pasas por ellas, no sabes aprovechar cuando sale el sol. Este disco se llama 8Du Soleil9 y va precisamente de todo eso, al igual que también lo quise hacer en mi anterior disco, me gusta posicionar las canciones en el orden cronológico según las sentí y las escribí. Hay una Sofía en los discos que está más rota, y quien diga que no ha tenido una
cuente otra persona y que te ayude a componer.
Tengo una cantidad de material& Ocho años de mi vida grabados y ya estoy reuniendo todo el material de lo que no veis que ocurre detrás del telón. Lo voy a sacar cuando llegue el debido momento, quiero acabar esta etapa, este disco de dos años entre que he estado en Colombia, México, con artistas internacionales, hay algunas canciones maravillosas y con la justa fusión de mis raíces musicales. Vais a ver la Sofía de siempre, con un toque pícaro de México pero la de siempre, con su sonrisa después de haber salido libre de su anterior disco.
La palabra ego me da mucho miedo por la acepción que tiene la gente. Igual no me he reconciliado con esa palabra todavía. Yo diría que cuando amenazo con montar una tienda ecológica porque este mundo es muy sacri昀cado e injusto. No voy a abrir el melón de si eres mujer, ahí me quedo, pre昀ero ser discreta y no ser revolucionaria. Mis revoluciones las hago en mis letras. No me metáis en política, yo escribo canciones, me gusta hacer feliz a la gente, saludar al panadero, mi mejor amiga es mi portera& Yo soy de todos. Eso también se ve en mis conciertos. Ves hasta la niña que va con sus padres, hasta el tipo de 60 años que va solo porque me vioporYouTube.Nomeencasilléisnunca en nada, yo soy libre. Cuando me dicen que mis canciones salvan a la gente, me obligo a no dejar los escenarios porque se lo debo a ellos.

Me parece divertido. En un momento donde es verdad que todos quieren tener idealizados a sus ídolos, creo que en un momento donde hay tantas ofertas de música, cantantes y estilo, me gusta que cuando me paran por la calle me digan 8So昀9 porque me consideran su amiga. El respeto no se pasa, pero la con昀anza que tenemos en la comunidad que hemos creado estos años es clave en todo esto.
¿Cómotellevasconlasredessociales?
Depende de con cuál. TikTok no lo entiendo. ¿Por qué tiene que tener millones de visitas mi gato respondiéndole a una puerta? Es una aplicación que no entiendo, es a ver quién hace más el ganso& Tengo que pillarle el punto al algoritmo entre mi música y el contenido. La plataforma en la que más en casa me siento es Instagram, de repente estoy con mis gatos, en pijama, hago deporte, estoy en la playa, un poco más 8hippie9&
¿Y las nuevas plataformas de consumo paralamúsica?
Esto está cambiando mucho. Lo que está pasando en Spotify y todo eso es que había unas distribuidoras digitales y ahora lo que hacen las propias plataformas de música es, dentro de sus empresas, ejercer ya de distribuidoras musicales. Es prácticamente un monopolio. Otra cosa interesante que está pasando es el 8Macrofestivales: el agujero negro de la música9, un libro muy interesante que habla de cómo los festivales y los promotores se han ido comiendo los conciertos de un artista único. Han llegado los festivales y están vendiendo esas experiencias con marcas y patrocinios que tienen. Los festivales multiartistas nos están haciendo temblar desde el lado del artista, hay que saber identi昀car la industria y no tratar de ponerse una venda. Hay que pillar a la industria con la ola cuando está llegando.
¿Cómo es So昀a cuando se baja del escenario?¿Quélegustahacer?
Me levanto, riego mis plantas, que ahí es cuando te das cuenta de que te has hecho mayor, el cuidar tu casa, tu espacio& Está bien el jaleo de vida de artista, pero yo
ahora necesito llegar a mi casa, ver que todo está bien, poner lavadoras& Necesito mi momento de cocinarme, de cuidar a mis amigos, me encanta que mi casa sea la casa de todos. Cuidarme es mi prioridad en este momento de mi vida, siempre he sido la última y esto es como la batería de un móvil, si sales de casa con un 100% no puedes volver con cero, porque ese tiempo y esa energía me la debo a mí misma. Estoy tratando de ponerme por delante, si no te quieres a ti mismo, es imposible que vayas a hacer nada bien hecho con tu vida en cualquiera de los ámbitos que corresponde.

Hace mucho que no voy a Sotogrande, la últimavezfueenelWhiteSummerFestivaly creoqueen2025seríaunamuybuenafecha para hacer un festival chulo. Mi relación con Sotogrande tendría que ser más, he ido mucho de pequeña porque muchas amigas del cole veranean allí, pero cuando uno tira mucho al norte& igual necesita una dósis de sur. Lo tengo pendiente. Desde 2019 no he vuelto a estar unos días y en plan 8relax9.

As expected, getting tickets has become like finding a desert “oasis.” Some lucky people have guaranteed their tickets while others are crossing their fingers for the brothers to announce new dates or put more tickets on sale. Such has been the madness that the British group has warned about the pre-sale of fake tickers for over a thousand Euros.

An Intact Legacy
It was the wonderful 90’s/ A British rock group emerged in Manchester (United Kingdom). Although its first name was The Rain, shortly afterwards new members made the group change its name to Oasis. At the start, the group members were Chris Hutton, the guitarist Paul Arthurs, the bass player Paul McGuigan and the drummer Daniel Alexander.
Soon afterwards, Tony McCarroll joined as drummer. Hutton left the group and Liam Gallagher replaced him as lead vocalist. Soon afterwards, Noel, Liam’s brother, joined as the lead guitarist and backing vocals.
Noel told them that if they wanted to become real stars they would have to allow him to write and compose the group’s repertoire. They accepted. He was the creator of the characteristic sound of Oasis.
Another star had been born, one of the greatest legends of contemporary music and, according to some, the last great rockgroup ever.The groupwas a key component ofthe Britpop movement. siendo una temporada decente, eso sí, con muchísimos viajes.

Bueno, reconozco que tener la temporada con PGA Tour no está siendo nada fácil. Lo mismo que te he comentado, muchos viajes. Además, también he tenido que adaptarme a campos nuevos.Ypor otro lado, la gente de allí no es muy sociable tampoco. Además, el nivel medio es algo más alto. La verdad es que no está siendo sencillo.
¿Quéestásiendolomásduro?
Lo más duro, sin lugar a dudas, las horas de vuelo. Son muchísimas horas y es difícil llevarlo todo. Por lo demás, la verdad es que está siendo una buena
experiencia. Como te digo, el nivel de exigencia es un poco más alto. Pero todo eso forma parte de la experiencia y me está gustando.
¿Y cómo compaginas los torneos con el DPWorld?
Si te digo la verdad, como puedo. Intenté jugar muchos torneos a ver si me metía en las Olimpiadas, que me quedé justo fuera y bueno, ahora con el objetivo de que a ver si llego a la final de Dubai. Para ello necesito jugar bien alguna semana de aquí al final de año.
¿Crees que el golf camina, a corto o medio plazo, hacia un calendario o formatounitarioentretodosloscircuitos ycompeticiones?
Es una pregunta bastante difícil. No lo sé, lo veo complicado a corto plazo y a medio también se me hace difícil. Veremos a ver qué pasa, yo solo intento jugar bien y lo demás no puedo hacer nada realmente. Es complicado responder a ello.
¿Cómo fue la espinita de quedarse fuera delosJuegosdeParís?
Pues quizás, no perder el año. Es cierto que fui a Suecia para meterme en los Juegos, lo conseguí y luego me sacó David en el US Open. Pero la verdad es que hizo un buen papel. Él también hizo un esfuerzo para meterse en los juegos y al final, pues bueno, él fue el que tuvo la suerte de ir.
Howareyoumanagingthisseasononthe PGATour?
Well, I admit that having the season with the PGATour hasn’t been easy at all. The same thing I mentioned, lots of travel. Also, I have had to adapt to new courses. And on the other hand, the people there aren’t very sociable either. Also, the average level is somewhat higher. The truth is that it hasn’t been easy.
Whathasthetoughestpartbeen?
Undoubtedly, the toughest part has been the flight time. There are so many hours and it is di cult to manage it all. Besides that, it has honestly been a very good experience. As I say, the level of demand is somewhat higher. However, all of that is part of the experience and I am enjoying it.
Andhowdoyoucombinethetournaments withtheDPWorld?
Honestly, as best as I can. I tried to play lots of tournaments to see if I could make it to the Olympics, I narrowly missed
out and well, now I play with the aim of reaching the final in Dubai. Therefore, I need to play well some weeks from here to the end of the year.
Do you think that golf is heading, in the short and medium-term, towards a standard calendar or format between all thecircuitsandcompetitions?
It is quite a di cult question. I don’t know, it seems di cult in the short term and also appears di cult in the medium term. We will see what happens, I simply try to play well, and as for the rest I can’t really do anything really. It is di cult to respond to that.
What about the un昀nished business of missingoutintheParisOlympics?
Well maybe, I didn’t want to waste the year. It is true that I went to Sweden to make it to the Games, I achieved it and then David took me out at the US Open. But the truth is that he played well. He also tried to get to the Olympics and in the end, well, he was the one who was lucky to go.

¿Cómo se adapta a tu estilo de juego o te adaptas tú al Real Club de Golf Sotogrande?¿Tecondicionaenexceso?
Bueno, yo creo que se adapta bien a mi juego. Es cierto que yo si juego bien me puedo adaptar a la mayoría de los campos y confío en que Sotogrande no va a ser diferente. Aunque mi tipo de juego se adapta bien al campo, si juego bien todos los campos se me pueden dar bien.
¿Sigues siendo algo escéptico con las RedesSociales?
Realmente no me hacen gracia las redes sociales. Si bien es cierto que son necesarias y tienen cosas positivas, también trae consigo muchas negativas y hay que tener bastante cuidado.

The Estrella Damm N. A. Andalucía Masters, a tournament that is part of the DP World Tour, is returning to the venue of Real Club de Golf Sotogrande for the second year, after its arrival and great start last year. A new edition filled with attractions, in the final stage of the season, from 17 to 20 October.
Once again, several of the big names in this sport linked to the European Circuit will feature at the pioneering course in Sotogrande, such as Jorge Campillo, Pablo Larrazábal, Nacho Elvir, along with some of the most recent and emerging new hopefuls in the “Spanish Armada”, such as Ángel Ayora. All the incentives for a luxury edition.
In terms of the competition, the prize purse of somewhat over 3 million Euros has been maintained, which is a real attraction, making it one of the events with the greatest rewards on the entire calendar of the former European Tour.
Ifwe look back a little, towards the debut of Real Club de Golf Sotogrande as the venue of the EDAM, it was marked by a Polish accent. Adrian Meronk imposed a great rhythm on the decisive final holes of the day to take victory and manage to turn the rankings around when the German Matti Schmid felt he could almost touch victory in the tournament.
With a final card of 272 shots (16 shots under par), Meronk had a spectacular fourth round of -6 and was the toughest and most competitive opponent in the final stretch of the tournament. It is worth highlighting the battle until the last hole by both Schmid, who finished just one shot behind Meronk and by Richard Mansell (-14). Baluarte es, sin dudas, uno de los restaurantes en los que los productos de otoño protagonizan su carta. Se trata de la cocina de Óscar García, que presume de una estrella Michelin. El chef viaja de las recetas sólidas a las infusiones en su casa soriana y la oferta castellana de otoño con estrella es muy amplia destacando productos únicos de la tierra, como los boletus edulis. Nace así uno de sus platos más demandados: Raviolis de foie y boletus. Viene acompañado con una crema y jugo de vinagre, intensificando así el sabor del boletus.

Baluarte is undoubtedly one of the restaurants where autumn products star on the menu. It is the kitchen run by Óscar García, who holds a Michelin Star. The chef travels from solid recipes to infusions in his house in Soria and the Castilian range of autumn with a star is very extensive, notably including unique products from the region, such as the Boletus edulis. Thus resulting in one of his most sought-after products: Foie and mushroom raviolis. It is accompanied by a cream and jus of vinegar, intensifying the flavour of the mushroom.

Este vino ha recibido reconocimientos en importantes certámenes como World’s Best Sommeliers’ Selection 2024 y The Rioja Report 2024 - Club Oenologique. Se trata de un vino de uva tempranillo que procede de la zona de Elciego y Laguardia, de los pagos de Garcimoracho, Tapias, San Pelayo, Vialva y La Collada. La vendimia es rigurosamente manual, en cajas de 15 kg. Tras la completa selección de las uvas, (desde 1995 se realiza con las mesas de selección uva a uva), se procede al prensado y vinificación. La fermentación alcohólica se realiza en tinas de Allier a 26ºC, de fincas individualizadas referenciando el viñedo por su origen.
Marida bien con jamón y quesos curados, carnes rojas, aves, guisos de caza, tales como perdiz, conejo, venado, jabalí o corzo, incluso condimentados
con salsas especiadas. Es un vino tremendamente expresivo, de gran intensidad aromática de frutos negros pequeños maduros (arándanos, grosellas, casis, ciruelas damascenas, guindas en licor), grafito, notas de terruño minerales, regaliz, sutiles matices de flores azules (violetas), sotobosque (hojarasca, musgo). The prestigious Real Casino de Madrid Wine Competition awarded this choice a gold medal. With an intense cherry red colour, with purplish iridescences, the nose expresses a complex, balsamic aromatic intensity, perfectly balanced between the fruity and toasted aromas of light roasting that is reminiscent of fine woods. In the mouth it is unctuous, in harmony with the fruit, with a good concentration of tannins, well-rounded and with a persistent finish. Ham, cured cheeses, red meats, all kind of roast meats and game stews, these foods go amazingly with one of the best bottles from the Marqués de Riscal winery.
To produce the Gran Reserva, Riscal uses grapes from old wines that are over 80-years-old, using its own productions or those acquired from local vine growers. Having selected the wine to produce the Gran Reserva after the unification of the harvest, it goes into French oak barrels, where it will remain for two and a half years and three years, plus another three years in a bottle before it is sold.

From old garnacha and viura vines in Elciego that are over 50 years old, this bottle brings us a wine with a salmon colour that is fruity, elegant and balanced, packed with tension with a notable acidity that is enticing to drink thanks to its freshness and verticality. XR Rosé is the first wine by Marqués de Riscal to join the new range of products that was created some years ago with the presentation of XR Reserva and which are characterised by being the result of the uniqueness provided by the vineyards and the selected grape.
This XR Rosé was acknowledged in the 2024 La Vanguardia Wine Guide, and also in the 2024 Gourmets Wine Guide and in the 2024 Proensa Guide, among others. The flavour is fresh, elegant, and balanced, with a finish that is full of pleasant acidic sensations. The best dishes to accompany it are fish dishes, seafood, pastas and rice dishes.

This wine has received awards at important contests such as the
World’s Best Sommeliers’ Selection 2024 and The Rioja Report 2024Club Oenologique. It is a wine from tempranillo grapes that comes from the area of Elciego and Laguardia, from the estates of Garcimoracho, Tapias, San Pelayo, Vialva and La Collada. The harvest is strictly manual, in 15kg boxes. After the complete selection of the grapes (since 1995 it is carried out with selection tables grape by grape), the pressing and fermentation is carried out. The alcoholic fermentation is carried out in Allier vats at 26ºC, from individualised vats detailing the vineyard according to its origin.
It pairs well with ham and cheeses, cured meats, red meats, poultry, game stews such as partridge, rabbit, venison, wild boar or roe deer, even seasoned with spiced sauces. It is an incredibly expressive wine, with a great aromatic intensity of small ripe dark fruits (blueberries, currants, blackcurrants, quetsche plums, cherries in liqueur), graphite, mineral earthy notes, liquorice, subtle notes of blue flowers (violets), undergrowth (fallen leaves, moss). Memories of autumn when leaves fall. A perfect bottle for this time of year.

The French variety Sauvignon Blanc, with which Marqués de Riscal produces this monovarietal wine, comes from the Loire region. It was introduced by Marqués de Riscal in Rueda in 1974 an today the winery has 70 hectares of its own vineyard of this grape with an average age of over 25 years. It is currently part of the varieties authorised by the Rueda Designation of Origin thanks to its great adaptability to the environment and its capacity to produce white wines of a great aromatic intensity, good acidic balance and minerality. It is a pale yellow coloured wine with greenish reflections. El campo de golf de Sotogrande fue realizado en el año 1963 y se constituiría como club en 1964, siendo considerado desde ese momento y en la actualidad, uno de los mejores recorridos de toda Europa. Sotogrande fue el primer trabajo de Trent Jones en el continente europeo y marcó todo un hito en la construcción de campos de golf a este lado del Atlántico; no sólo por el soberbio diseño que realizó el maestro, sino por las diferentes innovaciones que rodearon al proyecto: fue el primer campo de Europa sembrado con Bermuda 419 y el primer complejo de estas características en instalar un sistema de riego totalmente automatizado.

En 1966, Real Club de Golf Sotogrande vivió su primera gran cita con los mejores jugadores de Europa en el Open de España que ganó Roberto de Vicenzo con 279 golpes. En 1970 nació la Copa Jerez, origen del actual Campeonato Europeo de las Naciones Copa Real Club de Golf Sotogrande, que recibe cada año a los mejores amateurs de una veintena de países europeos. El evento, adquirió rápidamente un gran prestigio internacional dentro del calendario amateur. En 1998 el torneo comenzó a celebrarse por equipos pasando a denominarse Campeonato Europeo de las Naciones; nombre que mantiene hoy en día.
Sotogrande golf course was created in 1963 and established as a club in 1964, since then and at present, it has been considered one of the best courses in all of Europe. Sotogrande was the first project by Trent Jones on the European continent and marked a milestone in the construction of golf courses on this side of the Atlantic; not only thanks to the superb design created by the maestro, but also the di erent innovations surrounding the project: it was the first course in Europe sown with Bermuda419andthefirstresortofthese characteristics to install a completely automated irrigation system.

In 1966, Real Club de Golf Sotogrande experienced its first major event with the best players in Europe at the Spanish Open which was won by Roberto de Vicenzo with 279 shots.
In 1970, the Jerez Cup was created, the origin of the current European Nations Cup Championship at Real Club de Golf Sotogrande, which hosts the best amateurs each year from twenty European countries. The event quickly earned international prestige on the amateur calendar. In 1998, the tournament began to be held in a team format and was renamed the European Nations Championship; the name it still holds.
Uno de los encuentros con más solera de la urbanización por la que han pasado grandes jugadores como Sergio García, Rory Mcllroy, Padraig Harrington, Francesco Molinari, Shane Lowry o Catherine Lacoste, entre otros. Es tal el nivel de juego de este encuentro del Real Club de Golf de Sotogrande, que está considerado el quinto en importancia por detrás del British Amateur, el Campeonato de Europa Individual y por equipos y la Copa del Rey de España.
Sotogrande fue el escenario del Campeonato de España Amateur de 1983; también resuena aún la victoria en 1987 de Severiano Ballesteros en el Campeonato de España de Profesionales, una cita inolvidable.
