Un impulso hacia la excelencia

Con una herencia prometedora y de tendencia alcista, respecto al 2023, se recibió el ejercicio actual con muchas expectativas de crecimiento y progreso en el ámbito del sector lujo, vinculado al turismo, al sector residencial y, según compete también a esta zona, en el deporte del más alto nivel.

Haciendo una mirada y breve repaso retrospectivamente, se heredaba toda la actividad que supone años de impacto en la celebración de una Solheim Cup en la zona (Finca Cortesín), que por cierto, hace sólo unos días acogió la gran ﬁnal del XI Circuito de Golf Sotogrande; además de un importante crecimiento en nuevas promociones.

De todo ello, se establece un 2024 aún más próspero, con importantes eventos como el LIV Golf Andalucía en Valderrama (que mantiene fecha para 2025) o el Estrella DammAndalucíaMastersenelRealClubdeGolfSotogrande, que por cierto, aún busca sede para el próximo curso. Todo ello maridado con el mejor polo, vela y muchísimo más. Y, por supuesto, con un año de más crecimiento inmobiliario, con importantes ventas en propiedades de más de una decena de millones de precio.

Con esa misma ilusión y emoción, ansiamos que vean la luz nuevos proyectos en 2025 como es la apertura del Fairmont de cinco estrellas en La Hacienda o el propio desarrollo de Majarambuz, por parte de Zagaleta en la parte más expansiva de Sotogrande, hacia Castellar, por nombrar algún nombre propio.

Todo está en marcha y encaramos, desde Grupo HCP Sotogrande, otra temporada con más fuerza que nunca y tras disfrutar de las bodas de plata de esta publicación, La Revista Sotogrande. Sigamos remando entre todos, por un Sotogrande de calidad, sostenible y con muchísimo futuro al más alto nivel.

WA BOOST TOWARDS EXCELLENCE

ith a promising legacy and upward momentum, compared to 2023, the current year was greeted with great expectations for growth and progress in the luxury sector, linked to tourism, the residential sector and, as also applicable to this area, sport at the highest level.

Taking a glance and short look backwards, we inherited all of the activity that amounts of years of impact with the celebration of a Solheim Cup in the area (Finca Cortesín), which incidentally, just a few days ago hosted the grand ﬁnale of the XI Sotogrande Golf Circuit; as well as signiﬁcant growth of new developments.

All of this resulted in an even more prosperous 2024, with important events such as LIV Golf Andalucía at Valderrama (which is keeping the date for 2025) and the Estrella Damm Andalucía Masters at Real Club de Golf Sotogrande, which by the way, is still looking for a venue for next year. All combined with the best polo, sailing and so much more. And, of course, with a year of more property growth, with important sales of properties priced at over ten million.

With the same enthusiasm and excitement we look forward to new projects getting underway in 2025 such as the opening of the ﬁve-star Fairmont at La Hacienda and the development of Majarambuz, by Zagaleta in the most expansive part of Sotogrande, towards Castellar, to list a few big names.

Everything is underway and at Grupo HCP Sotogrande we are heading into another season stronger than ever and after enjoying the silver anniversary of this publication, Sotogrande Magazine. We should all continue to work together for a quality, sustainable Sotogrande with a fantastic future at the highest level.

El Consejero de Turismo de la Junta de Andalucía analiza los principales desafíos y nuevos retos de la región, para fortalecer y proyectar con aún más dimensión, el destino Andalucía, al más alto nivel del turismo internacional. La presencia en grandes ferias o eventos deportivos de primer nivel, respaldan, la oferta integral de una enclave único en el mundo, como es Andalucía, con unos datos y cifras de récord.

¿EstáAndalucíaensumejormomento?

Andalucía atraviesa un período excepcional en el ámbito turístico. Recientemente presentamos el balance de los tres primeros mesesdelaño,periodoenelquelosingresos turísticosascendierona19.630millonesde euros, lo que representa un incremento del 7,8% respecto a los nueve primeros meses del año anterior.

Esta tendencia nos permite asegurar que el turismo cerrará 2024 como el mejor de la serie histórica, además de cumplir los objetivos marcados en cuanto a aumentar el impacto en ingresos y empleo y moderar el

crecimiento en la llegada de visitantes en los meses de mayor concentración de viajeros.

La proyección internacional de Andalucía, como uno de los principales destinos turísticos del mundo, avanza con un posicionamiento cada vez más estratégico.¿Cómoeslahojaderuta?

Nuestra estrategia se centra en la diversi昀؀cación de mercados y productos, una promoción quirúrgica dirigida a los clientesysegmentosquemayoresbene昀؀cios generan, la apuesta por la sostenibilidad del destino y la aplicación de la innovación y de los datos en todos los ámbitos.

La proyección internacional se ha visto fuertementerespaldadadesdeellanzamiento de nuestra campaña 8Andalusian Crush9, que ha reforzado el posicionamiento de marca llevando a Andalucía hacia un nivel enelquenohabíaestadonunca.Estaacción ha evolucionado ahora en una segunda fase que incide en la rendición a Andalucía, 8Surrender to the Andalusian Crush9, que rinde homenaje a la riqueza cultural y patrimonial de Andalucía y que cuenta en esta ocasión con la participación del compositor Hans Zimmer.

Andalusia is experiencing an exceptional period in the tourist sector. Recently, we presented the assessment of the 昀؀rst nine monthsoftheyear,aperiodinwhichtourist revenuestoodat19.63billionEuros,which representsanincreaseof7.8%comparedto the昀؀rstninemonthsofthepreviousyear. Thistrendallowsustoensurethattourism will end 2024 as the best in history, in termsofincreasingtheimpactonrevenue and employment and moderating growth regarding the arrival of visitors over the monthswiththemosttravellers.

The international impact of Andalusia asoneofthemaintouristdestinationsin theworldisprogressingwithincreasingly strategicpositioning. Whatistheroad maplike?

Ourstrategyisfocusedonthediversi昀؀cation ofmarketsandproducts,precisepromotion aimedatclientsandsegmentsthatproduce thegreatestrewards,acommitmenttothe sustainability of the destination and the applicationofinnovationanddataacrossall areas.

Lacampañatambiéneslaimagendeldestino en las grandes ferias internacionales, como la World Travel Market de Londres de hace unas semanas. También hemos fortalecido nuestra presencia en mercados lejanos, especialmente Estados Unidos, así como América Latina, el sudeste asiático o China, emisores con un gran potencial de crecimiento.

Cada vez se intenta hacer un turismo más desestacionalizado,¿cuáleselsecreto?

El secreto es simplemente saber aprovechar las in昀؀nitas posibilidades que ofrece el destino fuera del verano para acercarlo a los clientes que tienen posibilidad de viajar en cualquier momento del año. Se trata de diversi昀؀car nuestra oferta turística y promover segmentos que atraigan visitantes en meses fuera de la temporada alta.

Hemos impulsado el turismo cultural, de naturalezaydeportivo,organizandoeventos de relevancia internacional que fomentan la a昀؀uencia de turistas fuera de los meses estivales. Y el concepto de 'Andalusian Crush' también es fundamental para posicionar a Andalucía como un destino atractivo en cualquier época del año.

Esta estrategia se está re昀؀ejando en resultados tangibles. De hecho, Así, este año Andalucía crece más en los periodos de temporada baja, con aumentos de visitantes del 10,5% en el primer trimestre y del 5,1% en el segundo, contribuyendo por tanto a la desestacionalización y a la estabilidad de la actividad turística.

Los eventos de alto nivel son relevantes para nuestra estrategia turística, ya que atraen a visitantes y, de forma paralela, también posicionan a Andalucía en el mapa internacional y generan un impacto mediático muy signi昀؀cativo.

Tenemos muy reciente la Copa Davis y la Billie Jean King Cup en Málaga, que atrajo a una audiencia global de 300 millones de espectadores en 160 países, generando un impactomediáticode148millonesdeeuros para la marca Andalucía. Y la promoción en losLatinGrammy,quetrascelebrarseelaño

pasadoenAndalucíahantenidoesteañouna cita en Cádiz y han mostrado la imagen del destino en la entrega de premios en Miami.

A grandes cifras, ¿se puede calcular el impacto económico de estos dos sectores enlaregión,deporteyturismo?

Cuando hablamos de turismo hablamos de la principal industria de Andalucía, motor de su economía, que superó los 24.000 millonesdeeurosdeingresosalacomunidad en 2023 y que, como indiqué previamente, ya acumula 19.630 millones en los nueve primeros meses de este ejercicio.

Pero no hay que olvidar que su efecto multiplicador va mucho más allá de las empresas y profesionales turísticos, ya que además bene昀؀cia a un total de 81 sectores de actividad diferentes en Andalucía.

Thesecretissimplyknowinghowtotake advantage of the endless options offered by the destination outside of summer in ordertointroduceittoclientswhohavethe chancetotravelatanytimeoftheyear.Itis aboutdiversifyingourofferoftourismand promotingsegmentsthatattractvisitorsin monthsoutsideofthepeakseason.

We have promoted cultural, nature and sports tourism, organising events of international importance that encourage largenumbersoftouriststocomeoutside of the summer months. And the concept of 'Andalusian Crush9 is also essential in ordertopositionAndalusiaasanappealing destinationatanytimeoftheyear.

Thisstrategyisbeingre昀؀ectedintangible results.InfactthisyearAndalusiahasgrown more during the low season, with visitor increasesof10.5%inthe昀؀rstquarterand 5.1% in the second, thus contributing to breakingawayfromseasonalactivityandto thestabilityoftourismactivity.

First rate events are important for our tourism strategy as they attract visitors and alongside this they also position Andalusia on the international map and have a very signi昀؀cant media impact.

Very recently we had the Davis Cup and theBillieJeanKing Cup inMalagawhich attractedaglobalaudienceof300million spectators in 160 countries, generating a mediaimpactof148millionEurosforthe Andalusiabrand. Andthepromotionatthe Latin Grammy Awards which after being held last year in Andalusia this year took placeinCadizanddisplayedtheimageofthe destinationattheawardsceremonyinMiami.

Intermsoflargenumbers,isitpossible tocalculatetheeconomicimpactofthese two sectors, sport and tourism, on the region?

Whenwetalkabouttourismwearetalking about the main industry in Andalusia, the drivingforceofitseconomywhichsurpassed ¬24billionofrevenueforthecommunityin 2023andwhichasIpreviouslystatedhas already amassed 19.63 billion in the 昀؀rst ninemonthsofthisyear.

Howeveritshouldnotbeforgottenthatit's multiplying effect goes much further than the companies and professionals involved in tourism as it also bene昀؀ts a total of 81 differentsectorsofactivityinAndalusia.

In terms of sporting events it is dif昀؀cult to get an overall 昀؀gure but as an example wecouldusetheimpactoftheDavisCup, the 30 million impacts of events such as LIV Golf and the more than 14 million of directspendingbyvisitorswhotravelledto AndalusiaforthemotorcyclingGrandPrix in Jerez. It is undeniable that the synergy between sport and tourism strengthens economicdevelopmentandtheinternational impactofAndalusia.

En cuanto a los eventos deportivos es difícil extraer una cifra global, pero sirve de ejemplo la proyección de la Copa Davis, los 30 millones de impacto de citas como el LIV Golf o los más de 14 millones de gasto directo de los viajeros que se desplazan a Andalucía con motivo del Gran Premio de Motociclismo de Jerez. Es indudable que la sinergia entre deporte y turismo potencia el desarrollo económico y la proyección internacional de Andalucía.

¿Cómoincideenelempleo?

Uno de nuestros objetivos fundamentales es que el crecimiento turístico de Andalucía incidiera especialmente en el empleo y se está consiguiendo. Andalucía es la comunidad que más empleo turístico crea en el primer y segundo trimestre y, en el conjunto de los nueve primeros meses del año, se han alcanzado los 438.700 ocupados de media, un 2,8% más que en el mismo periodo de 2023 y un 3,4% más que en 2019.

Además, el empleo turístico crece en mayor medida que en el conjunto de sectores económicos de Andalucía, llegando a tasas de temporalidad inéditas, ya que este índice

se situó hasta septiembre en el 23,7%, la cifra más baja de la serie histórica y 17 puntos menos desde que Juanma Moreno es presidente de la Junta de Andalucía.

No todo van a ser elogios, ¿cuáles son las principalesamenazas?

El principal reto al que se enfrenta actualmente cualquier industria es la sostenibilidad. Tenemos un compromiso claro con el desarrollo sostenible de esta actividad para posicionar a la región como un referente mundial en este ámbito. Es evidente que, para garantizar la competitividad del destino, es fundamental reforzar los lazos entre la sostenibilidad y el turismo y hacer de esta industria un factor regenerativo.

Es por tanto clave la importancia de abordar los desafíos que se plantean para acompasar nuestra industria a los cambios que se producen en el medio ambiente, pero junto a esta vertiente también debemos atender la sostenibilidad social y económica, mediante una plani昀؀cación estratégica que permita gestionar de forma inteligente la capacidad de carga y los recursos existentes.

¿Elaguaesunagranpreocupación?

Las últimas lluvias fueron un alivio para la situación inmediata de las reservas hídricas, pero efectivamente no deja de ser una prioridad, especialmente en el contexto del cambio climático. Desde esta Consejería hemos destinado 40 millones de euros para paliar los efectos de la sequía y del cambio climático en el sector turístico, 昀؀nanciando acciones que promuevan la reducción del consumo de agua y la mejora energética en los establecimientos turísticos.

¿Cómo ha evolucionado la política turísticadesdeelcambioenSanTelmo?

El nuevo Gobierno viene impulsando una políticaturísticacentradaenlasostenibilidad ylainnovaciónquenopierdedevistaque,el 昀؀n fundamental de toda nuestra estrategia, es bene昀؀ciar al conjunto de la ciudadanía andaluza. Y esta visión acertada se está viendo re昀؀ejada en las cifras de empleo que antes comenté, en el impulso a las empresas turísticas en Andalucía y en el crecimiento continuo de los ingresos que esta industria genera en la comunidad.

Howdoesitimpactemployment?

Oneofouressentialaimsisforthetourism growthofAndalusiatohaveaspecialimpact onemploymentandthisisbeingachieved. Andalusiaisthecommunitythathascreated most tourism employment in the 昀؀rst and secondquartersandasawholeoverthe昀؀rst nine months of the year on average it has achieved 438,700 people in employment, 2.8%morethaninthesameperiodin2023 and3.4%morethanin2019.

The main challenge that any industry currently faces is sustainability. We have a clear commitment to the sustainable development of this activity in order to

position the region as a global leader in this昀؀eld.Itisclearthatinordertoensure the competitiveness of the destination, it isessentialtostrengthenthetiesbetween sustainability and tourism and make this industryaregenerativefactor.

Itisthusessentialtotacklethechallenges posed in order to accompany our industry through the changes that occur in the environment but alongside this aspect we must also pay attention to social and economic sustainability through strategic planning that makes it possible to manage the load capacity and existing resources in a smart way.

Iswateramajorconcern?

The latest rainfall was a relief for the immediate situation in the water reserves, but indeed it remains a priority especially within the context of climate change. This Department has allocated 40 million Euros to alleviate the effects of drought and climate change in the tourist sector fundingactionsthatpromotethereduction of the consumption of water and energy improvementsintouristestablishments.

Howhasthetouristpolicyevolvedsince thechangeinSanTelmo?

Thenewgovernmenthasbeenencouraging a tourist policy focused on sustainability and innovation that does not lose sight of thefactthattheessentialaimofourentire strategy is to bene昀؀t citizens in Andalusia as a whole. And this successful vision is being re昀؀ected in the employment 昀؀gures I mentioned before, in the promotion of tourist companies in Andalusia and in the ongoinggrowthinrevenuethatthisindustry generatesinthecommunity.

Less than a month ago the World Travel Market 2024 took place, what conclusionscanwedrawfromtheviewof Andalusiaabroad?

The involvement in the World Travel Market 2024 was a resounding success. Our pavilion welcomed almost 18,000 visitorswhichrepresents39%ofthetotalat thefairand14.8%morethanattheprevious editionoftheevent.

Hace menos de un mes se ha celebrado World Travel Market 2024, ¿qué conclusiones saca de la visión de Andalucíaenelextranjero?

La participación en la World Travel Market 2024 fue un éxito rotundo. Nuestro pabellón recibió cerca de 18.000visitantes, representando el 39% del total de la feria y un 14,8% más que en la anterior edición de la cita.

Ha sido una presencia centrada especialmente en la generación de oportunidades comerciales, con un área de negocio que facilitó el networking de las 60 empresas andaluzas asistentes, el doble que en 2023. Y tanto los contactos realizados por profesionales como las propias impresiones que nos trasladan los intermediarios británicos es que el interés

internacional por Andalucía es creciente y refuerza nuestra posición como destino turístico de referencia.

¿QuéencontraremosenFitur2025?

Estamos aun ultimando detalles, pero a nivel general incidiremos en una propuesta diferencial, global y única de Andalucía, con iniciativas centradas en la sostenibilidad y la innovación, productos turísticos que promuevan la desestacionalización y la diversi昀؀cación de nuestra oferta y con una completa agenda profesional que permita fortalecer alianzas estratégicas con operadores, agencias y aerolíneas.

¿Cuálseríaelsiguientepaso?¿Unturismo mássostenible?¿Demayorcalidad?

Son conceptos que van unidos. Nuestro

objetivo es avanzar hacia un turismo más sostenible y de mayor calidad, con un mayor gasto turístico en destino, más respetuoso con el entorno, que distribuya sus llegadas en el tiempo y el territorio y extienda la estancia media. Se trata de garantizar que el crecimiento turístico bene昀؀cie tanto a visitantes como a residentes.

Poniendo la lupa en casa, ¿seguiremos viendo el apoyo institucional a grandes eventos en Sotogrande como golf, vela o polo,entreotros?

However, what really distinguishes it is its river system which transports the largest volume of rainwater on Earth. With 1,100 tributaries, this complex system not only gives life to the region, but it also plays an essential role in the planet’s global balance, inﬂuencing climate and ecological processes globally.

However, despite its vital importance, the Amazon is facing an increasingly urgent threat: deforestation. Every year, the indiscriminate felling of trees and the destruction of its habit are intensifying the dangers to the hydrological processes that sustain the region, endangering not only its biodiversity, but also the global climate equilibrium.

Within this context, a necessary response emerges: the Perpetual Planet Amazon expedition, an ambitious collaboration project between Rolex and National Geographic. After two years of exploration and analysis, this initiative concluded in 2024 with revolutionary results that highlight the importance of the Amazon’s water systems for the regulation of the global climate and the preservation of this incomparable ecosystem.

El objetivo primordial de la expedición ha sido, precisamente, arrojar luz sobre el papel fundamental de los ríos y otros cuerpos de agua en la conservación de la Amazonía. The key objective of the expedition was indeed to shed light on the essential role of the rivers and other bodies of water on the conservation of the Amazon region. This project brought together scientists, explorers and local communities who explored vast areas of the Amazon region, from the cold heights of the Andes to the lush mangroves of the delta, with the aim of investigating the e ects of climate change, the loss of biodiversity and the pollution that threaten the stability of this environment.

The main studies carried out notably include the installation of a weather station in the Andes mountain range, close to the Nevado Ausangate glacier, at over 6,000 metres above sea level. The purpose of this station is to monitor the sources of water that feed the Amazon, an essential step to understand how climate change is a ecting the availability and quality

of these waters. Likewise, scientists assessed the Andean bear population, whose role in the regeneration of cloud forests is essential for the health of the Amazon basin, and they documented how this vital ecosystem is being a ected the increase in temperatures.

The most advanced technology (detection and measurement of light) was used to further examine the secrets of Amazonian ﬂora, in order to explore the seasonal wetlands and understand how trees are adapting to alterations caused by climate change and human activity.

One of the expedition’s most signiﬁcant ﬁndings was the discovery of an ecosystem of mangroves in the Amazon delta that grows in freshwater, an unprecedented phenomenon in science. This ecosystem is essential for the protection of coastlines and for the conservation of biodiversity in the

region, as it acts as a natural barrier against erosion and the increase of tides.

The conservation work on species such as the pink dolphin of the Amazon was essential to the expedition, tracking populations and analysing pollutants in their blood in order to evaluate the health of rivers and their ecosystems. Work was also carried out with local communities to protect these species and their habitats.

The results highlight the urgency of preserving theAmazon,which isn’t only a haven for biodiversity, but which is alsoessentialforcarboncaptureandthe regulation of the global climate. En principio garantizaban su independencia, pero sólo era cuestión de tiempo que impregnasen cada vez más las redacciones. Por detrás, Daniel Brown ﬁnalizaba a dos golpes, Rasmus Højgaard y Jordan Smith a tres y Jon Rahm, aunque ya anticipó después de la tercera vuelta que su misión era casi imposible, luchó con ganas para intentar sembrar dudas en los rivales que lo precedían, y terminaba sexto con -17, no tan lejos de ﬁrmar otra victoria en España.

“No he estado del todo cómodo esta semana, bastante lejos de mi mejor golf. Me fastidia un poco estarahí arriba pero no conseguir ganar, es lo que hay”, resumía Rahm. “Los hoyos que parecen un poco más fáciles, cuando estas para intentar ganar, se vuelven más difíciles, dudas más y pasa que en un campo que es fácil hacer birdies. Te tensas un

poco y viene alguien por atrás y hace pocas. Estaba lejos, menos 10 hoy era complicado, pero lo he intentado”.

David Puig también igualó los -5 en el día de Jon Rahm, la mejor vuelta entre los españoles, para ascender hasta la duodécima plaza con -13, mientras que Ángel Hidalgo volvió a restarle dos golpes al campo para terminar vigésimo con -10 en el global. También superaron el corte Eugenio Chacarra y Adrián Otaegui (vigésimo octavos con -9), Pablo Larrazábal y Adri Arnaus (-4), Álex del Rey (par) y Sebastián García (+5).

“I wasn’t completely comfortable this week, I was quite far from my best golf. I am a little annoyed to be up there but not managing to win, but what can you do” summarised Rahm. “The holes that seem a little easier, they become more di cult when you are trying to win, you hesitate more, and it so happens on a

course where it is easy to make birdies. You get a little tense and someone comes up from behind and you make few of them, I was a long way behind, 10 under today was di cult, but I tried.”

David Puig also equalled Jon Rahm’s -5 on the day, the best round among the Spaniards, to rise to twelfth place on -13, while Ángel Hidalgo once again beat the course by two shots to ﬁnish twentieth with an overall score of -10. Eugenio Chacarra and Adrián Otaegui (twenty-eighth with -9), Pablo Larrazábal and Adri Arnaus (-4), Álex del Rey (par) and Sebastián García (+5) also made the cut.
