El PSOE vuelve al frente del Ayuntamiento de San Roque con un gobierno tripartito El Ayuntamiento de San Roque vuelve a estar gobernado por el PSOE. Juan Carlos Ruiz Boix consiguió finalmente la alcaldía gracias al pacto firmado entre los socialistas, PIVG y PA. El tripartito tiene ante sí un largo periodo en el que demostrar sus principales propuestas electorales, como la creación de la ELA para el Valle del Guadiaro, el fomento del empleo o la conclusión de las obras del Centro de Salud de San Enrique.
Sin embargo, ahora lo que más preocupa es que el cambio en el Ayuntamiento no obstaculice la temporada turística que está a punto de comenzar y de la que dependen numerosos empresarios de la zona de Sotogrande, de modo que el nuevo regidor deberá conseguir en estos primeros días de mandato la mejora de las playas, la revitalización de las activudades turísticas y culturales, y la preparación de las ferias del municipio y sus barriadas.
San Roque Municipal Council is to be governed by the PSOE again. Juan Carlos Ruiz Boix has finally won the mayor’s seat thanks to a pact agreed between the socialists, the PIVG and the PA. The tripartite government has a long period ahead of it in which to fulfil their election proposals, such as creating a Local Autonomous Entity (ELA) for the Guadiaro Valley, boosting employment and completing the San Enrique Health Centre.
However, what concerns us most now is that the change in the council does not have a negative effect on the tourist season which is about to begin and on which many business owners in the Sotogrande area depend. Over the first few days in office the new mayor must therefore ensure that the beaches are improved, tourist and cultural activities are revitalised and the festivals of the municipality and its districts are organised.

os Ayuntamientos ya están constituidos, después de muchas cábalas y quinielas sobre pactos y posibilidades de gobernabilidad, las cartas se han puesto encima de la mesa y ya se conocen los nombres de los responsables municipales para los próximos cuatro años. Si hay una palabra que refleja el resultado electoral en el Campo de Gibraltar, ésta es cambio, ya que en todos los Ayuntamientos ha cambiado el color político de sus mandatarios. Unos con mayoría absoluta, otros con pactos de gobierno, y algunos incluso en minoría, han ocupado ya sus puestos al frente de los Ayuntamientos para empezar a cambiar las cosas en estos municipios. El hecho de que en los siete municipios de la Comarca hayan cambiado los alcaldes, hasta en los municipios en los que más años llevaba gobernando el mismo partido político, es sintomático del estado de desengaño general de la población, que a través de sus votos han apostado por un cambio. Los cambios suelen suponer mejoría, al menos, se da un voto de confianza para que el recién llegado trabaje con ilusión por el bien del municipio, teniendo en cuenta a los ciudadanos que con sus votos han depositado su confianza en ellos. Una ilusión que debe mantenerse cuatro años, así como los pactos que ahora se han firmado con la mejor de las voluntades, pero que con el tiempo pueden deteriorarse. Tenemos por delante cuatro años intensos, en los que los ciudadanos irán juzgando las actuaciones políticas y en la que nosotros, los medios de comunicación, tenemos la labor de hacer recordar a los políticos sus promesas electorales para que se cumplan. Vivimos, por lo tanto, días de cambio y de trabajo, ya que los nuevos alcaldes tienen por delante muchas tareas pendientes sobre las que deben ponerse manos a la obra de inmediato, como es el caso de San Roque, donde el inicio de la temporada estival obliga al nuevo alcalde, Juan Carlos Ruiz Boix , a preparar cuanto antes la temporada de playas.

he Municipal Councils have been formed following much speculation on pacts and possibilities for governability, the councillors have been appointed and we now know the names of the people who will manage municipal affairs over the next four years. If there is one word that sums up the outcome of the elections in Campo de Gibraltar, it is change, because in all the municipal councils the political colours of the leaders have changed. Some with an absolute majority, others through government pacts and even some from minority parties have now taken up their posts at the helm of the municipal councils to start to change things in the area. The fact that all seven municipalities in the Comarca of Campo de Gibraltar have changed their mayors, even in the councils where the same political party had been governing for the longest periods, is symptomatic of the general disillusionment of the public, who have opted for change with their votes. Change normally means an improvement, or at least a vote of confidence is given to the newly appointed leaders so that they work with enthusiasm for the good of the municipality, bearing in mind the people who have placed their trust in them with their votes. This enthusiasm must be maintained for four years, as should the pacts that have now been formed with the best intentions, but which over time can break down. We have four intense years ahead of us in which the public will judge the politicians on their actions and in which we, the media, have the task of reminding all the politicians of their electoral promises so that they keep them. It is therefore a time of change and of hard work, because the new mayors have much unfinished business ahead of them that they need to get to grips with immediately, which is certainly the case in San Roque, where the beginning of the summer means that the new mayor, Juan Carlos Ruiz Boix, must prepare for the beach season as quickly as possible.

Carta a los lectores// Ahora en verano, toca un poco de oxígeno para el sector empresarial
U
na vez finalizadas las elecciones municipales, nosotros seguimos a lo nuestro, a defender los intereses de una de las mejores zonas turísticas de este país. Todo empieza en aunar esfuerzos entre el sector empresarial de la zona con los residentes y visitantes, con el permiso de las autoridades que nos continúan imponiendo una serie de impuestos y tasas desorbitadas, que de seguir por este camino terminaremos muy mal en los próximos meses, viéndose abocados muchos de estos emprendimientos a su cierre o bajas, después de un gran esfuerzo de sus mentores. Llega el verano, llega la temporada álgida por excelencia de Sotogrande y su entorno. Nuevos negocios, remodelación de los habituales y buen semblante con mayor número de empleados por establecimiento ante la presumible presencia de más visitantes que el año anterior, bueno eso es lo que siempre solemos decir, ¿hay más que el año pasado o menos? Toca que los ciudadanos también entremos en colaboración y no aparquemos mal nuestros vehículos en cualquier parte. Ya sé que muchos pensarán que de parking andamos fatal en ciertas zonas, sobre todo en las proximidades a las zonas de playas, y bien cierto que es. Porque una cosa sí que tenemos que analizar, poniendo como ejemplo Torreguadiaro, una travesía que se confeccionó con mucha falta de criterio en lo relativo a los aparcamientos. Pero si tenemos
en cuenta que a los residentes veraniegos de los apartamentos, les unimos los del personal de trabajo de los comerciantes, hacen que la suma de vehículos a usar ya superen por si solos las posibilidades de espacios destinados a parking. Y la gran pregunta es. ¿Dónde aparcan los clientes para usar los servicios de los comercios de la zona? Bien, soluciones deben existir, pero no a costa de denunciar a cualquier coche que este mal aparcado, o que los clientes deban aburrirse y decidir no venir a una zona que entusiasma por si sola y por su proximidad a la brisa marina. Preguntamos desde esta carta. ¿No es posible dotar de zonas adecuadas o entrelazarlas para dar un servicio, aunque sea provisional para el verano? Porque el famoso paseo marítimo de Torreguadiaro se quedó desconectado de la travesía por no crear una rotonda pasada la tienda de Patricia Darch, cuestión esta que bien se podría reconducir con una rotonda artificial para el verano, no que nos encontramos una dirección prohibida para los vehículos que cruzan Torreguadiaro en sentido al Puerto Sotogrande. O habilitar el antiguo cuartel de la Guardia Civil en el otro extremo, que incluso con cualquier entidad o vigilantes municipales se podría ordenar perfectamente y se neutralizaría un buen número de coches. Hemos pretendido ilustrar los temas de aparcamientos en las zonas más complejas, porque los fines de semana todos los accesos al puerto también se colapsan con vehículos tirados encima de las zonas verdes, entre otros lugares complicados, creemos que sería necesario organizar espacios con antelación, ya que se sabe que este problema es una realidad cada año. Es hora de poner todos de nuestra parte, la propia administración, ciudadanos, comerciantes y cuantos puedan cursar sugerencias. ¿Alguien piensa que mantener una reunión comerciantes, representación vecinal y la policía local es un desatino? Nosotros nos ofrecemos para publicitar ese encuentro, cuanto antes mejor.
Letter to readers Summer means some breathing space for the business sector

ollowing the municipal elections, we remain committed to protecting the interests of one of the best tourist destination in the country. It all begins by joining forces, local businesspeople, residents and visitors alike, with the permission of the authorities, who continue to impose a series of exorbitant taxes and charges on us, and if it carries on like this we will be in a very bad place in a few months time, with many of these enterprises closing or laying people off, despite the best efforts of their leaders. Summer is here - the high season par excellence in Sotogrande and the surrounding area. New businesses, revamped old ones and a good look to the resort with more employees in the establishments to cope with the expected increase in visitor numbers compared to last year; well, this is what we always ask ourselves: are there more or fewer than last year? In view of this favourable news, we have to be sensible and ask the council to ensure that the beaches in our area are clean and well-tended by the lifeguard and medical teams. The public must also cooperate and we must avoid parking our vehicles illegally in any part of the resort. I know many of you will say that the parking situation is awful in certain areas, particularly near the beaches, and that is certainly true. Because this is one thing we do have to look at, taking Torreguadiaro as an example, with a through-road that was designed with a complete lack of common sense when it comes to car parks. But we do have to bear in mind that just with the summertime residents from the apartments and the staff who work in the local businesses, the vehicle numbers are already too high for the spaces available for parking. And the big question is: where do customers park to
use the services provided by local businesses? There must be some solutions, but not at the expense of reporting every car that is badly parked, or leaving bored customers to decide they would rather not come to an area that is attractive both in itself and due to its proximity to the sea breeze. We ask the question: is it not possible to provide suitable areas or to interlink them to provide a service, even if just temporarily over the summer? The famous Torreguadiaro seafront promenade was disconnected from the through-road because no roundabout was built after the Patricia Darch shop. The issue could easily be resolved with an artificial roundabout for the summer, so that vehicles crossing Torreguadiaro and heading towards Sotogrande Marina are not met with a no entry sign. Or, at the other end, the former Guardia Civil barracks could be fitted out, and with any company or with municipal officials parking could be organised perfectly well and a good number of cars would be taken out of the equation. We have attempted to illustrate the parking issues in the most complex areas, because at weekends all the entrances to the marina also become clogged with vehicles parking on the green spaces, among other difficult places. We think spaces should be organised in advance, because we know that this problem is a real issue every year. It is time to all do our bit - the authorities, the public, businesspeople and anyone who has suggestions to make. Would holding a meeting of business owners, residents’ representatives and the local police would be a crazy idea? We would be happy to advertise this meeting, and the sooner the better.

El pasado 5 de junio, el mercadillo de Sotogrande vivió una jornada exitosa y atípica, con la presencia del equipo de Grupo HCP. Tras la convocatoria anunciada a través de El Periódico de Sotogrande y sotograndedigital.com; numerosos residentes y visitantes respondieron pasándose por el espacio habilitado para conocer más de cerca las distintas cabeceras, hacernos llegar sus impresiones y compartir, tal y como se prometió, una copa de vino y una tapa de jamón serrano. El éxito fue más que visible. Especialmente a partir del mediodía, el trasiego de los asistentes
por el set de Grupo HCP se hizo más notorio. Con motivo del cierre de uno de los cursos que desde finales de mayo y principios de junio se viene celebrando en el Puerto de Sotogrande, la pasada semana se llevó a cabo en el Dique de Levante un simulacro de emergencia por contaminación, con el fin de mantener al personal adiestrado en este tipo de operaciones, según requiere además su Plan Interior de Contingencias. Dicho simulacro consistió en la suposición de un incendio a bordo de uno de los barcos atracados en el puerto, en cuyos tanques se almacenan 1.500 litros de combustible. Además de extinguir el incendio, se desplegaron los medios de lucha contra la contaminación con el fin de evitar la propagación y el escape de la mancha contaminante hacia la playa. Con esta actividad demostrativa, se puso el colofón final al
curso de Nivel Operativo Avanzado en materia de prevención y lucha contra la contaminación en operaciones de carga, descarga y manipulación de hidrocarburos en el ámbito marítimo y portuario. Un curso que ha estado dirigido a los mandos intermedios, que actúan como responsables de coordinación de los grupos de intervención y como enlace con los órganos de dirección de la emergencia. Con el patrocinio e implicación directa del Puerto de Sotogrande, cediendo sus instalaciones portuarias, la realización de los cursos ha estado en manos del Instituto Andaluz del Mar, empresa consultora y de formación en prevención y lucha contra la contaminación que, a su vez, actúa como responsable de formación de Markleen Salvage, también participante. Esta última se sitúa actualmente como referente nacional e internacional en el ám-

bito de la investigación y fabricación de equipamiento de lucha contra la contaminación marina. Además de la empresa Steel Mac Ltd., que también participa en los distintos niveles de los cursos y posee su sede en Gibraltar. La actividad de esta se centra en el salvamento marítimo y la lucha contra la contaminación marina; provista de equipos formados por remolcadores, gabarras, lanchas de servicio, barreras de contención, skimmers y barreras absorbentes, entre otros. El Puerto de Sotogrande ha querido agradecer a todos la asistencia, a las empresas colaboradoras y a la implicación de la Guardia Civil de Pueblo Nuevo, del Servicio Judicial y Marítimo de Algeciras, a la Policía Local de San Roque, al Cuerpo de Bomberos de San Roque, Aduanas y Securitas Seguridad España, entre otros organismos colaboradores.

To bring to a close one of the courses that have been held at the Sotogrande Marina in late May and early June, last week a pollution emergency simulation was conducted at the Levante Seawall to train personnel on what to do in these operations, as required by the Internal Contingency Plan. The simulation consisted of a fire on board one of the boats moored in the harbour, holding 1,500 litres of fuel in its tanks. In addition to putting out the fire, anti-contamination resources were deployed in order to avoid propagation and prevent the polluting slick from reaching the beach. This demonstration rounded off the Advanced Operational Level course in contamination prevention and containment in maritime and port fuel loading, unloading and handling operations. The course was aimed at middle management who are responsible for coordinating intervention groups and acting as a link between the emergency management bodies. With the sponsorship and direct involvement of Sotogrande Marina, which allowed them to
use its port facilities, the courses were provided by the Andalusian Maritime Institute, a consultancy and training firm in the field of contamination prevention and containment which, in turn, is responsible for training Markleen Salvage, which also participated. Markleen is a leading company nationally and internationally in research and manufacture of anti-marine-pollution equipment. Gibraltar-based Steel Mac Ltd were also involved, participating in the various levels of the course. Their activity centres on maritime salvage and marine pollution solutions and the company deploys equipment that includes tugboats, lighters, service boats, containment barriers, skimmers and absorbing barriers, among others. Sotogrande Marina wishes to thank everyone in attendance, the companies taking part and the Pueblo Nuevo Guardia Civil for their involvement, the Algeciras Judicial and Maritime Service, San Roque Local Police, the San Roque Fire Service, Customs and Securitas Seguridad España, among other collaborating organisations.

La Agencia Andaluza autoriza un nuevo canon en el agua de Sotogrande Redacción La Agencia Andaluza del Agua ha autorizado el establecimiento de un canon de mejora aplicable al recibo del agua de los residentes en la zona de Sotogrande para financiar, durante los próximos 25 años (hasta 2036), la realización de obras de mejora en la red de abastecimiento y saneamiento de aguas valoradas en 7,5 millones de euros. El canon, solicitado a instancias de la Mancomunidad de Municipios, tiene un valor unitario de 0,13 euros por metro cúbico sobre la tarifa en vigor, en función del consumo de agua potable del abonado. Con dicha cuantía, y según unos cálculos previos, se esti-

La Agencia Andaluza del Agua establece que el canon "se aplicará como garantía de las operaciones concertadas por Sotogrande SA para la financiación de las actuaciones a su cargo comprendidas en el programa, por importe de 7.500.000 euros “. Con este canon se pretenden amortizar obras como mejoras en el Pozo Ranney (351.277,34 euros); instalación de filtración complementaria de agua potable (1,5 millones) o mejoras en la impulsión del depósito número 3, valoradas en otros 1,1 millo-
nes de euros. En total, las obras vinculadas a la mejora de la red de abastecimiento suman más de 4,5 millones de euros. Las obras de saneamiento, que suponen casi 3 millones de euros, contemplan proyectos como mejoras en las estaciones de aguas residuales de la zona de la playa y el puerto. La resolución también fija el procedimiento para la super visión del cumplimiento del canon y la fiscalización de las cuantías recaudadas. Así mismo, cabe la posibilidad de revisar el importe del canon y una nueva aprobación en el supuesto de que durante su vigencia surgieran nuevas necesidades en cuanto a obras.

Andalusian Water Agency authorises new water levy for Sotogrande The Andalusian Water Agency has authorised establishing an improvement levy applicable to the water bills of residents in the Sotogrande area, to fund, over the next 25 years (until 2036), improvement works on the water supply and sanitation network valued at 7.5 million euros. The levy, requested at the instigation of the local Mancomunidad of Municipalities, has a unit cost of 0.13 euros per cubic metre of drinking water consumed by each subscriber, which comes on top of the rates currently in force. With this money, it has been calculated that the implementer of the works will retrieve the funds over a period of 25 years. The Andalusian Water Agency has established that the levy “will be applied as a guarantee of the operations agreed with Sotogrande SA to fund the work that it is responsible for as
part of the scheme, for a sum of 7,500,000 euros”. With this levy, the aim is to cover the costs of works like improvements to Ranney Well (351,277.34 euros), an addition drinking water filtration installation (1.5 million) and improvements to the pump system for tank number 3, valued at 1.1 million euros. Los vecinos y comerciantes de la Plaza Blanca de Sotogrande han mostrado su preocupación por la situación en la que se encuentra esta zona, la cual en años pasados era todo un referente en la zona. Ahora, y desde hace un tiempo, la plaza es objeto de actos vandálicos y los locales vacíos se encuentran en un estado ruinoso que no agrada ni a los visitantes ni a los comerciantes
que siguen contando con sus negocios en la zona. Cristales rotos, desperfectos en la estructura, falta de limpieza, son sólo algunas de las cosas que denuncian estos comerciantes. Como muestra, consideran que las imágenes del lugar son el mejor reflejo de la situación de abandono en la que se encuentra esta zona de la urbanización, la cual tendría que ser mejorada de forma urgente.

Los socialistas gobernarán el municipio gracias a los cinco votos de diferencia con el PP

El cabeza del PSOE, Juan Carlos Ruiz Boix, fue investido el pasado 11 de junio alcalde de San Roque tras obtener los once votos necesarios para ello durante el Pleno de Constitución de la Corporación Municipal surgida de los comicios del pasado 22 de mayo. En este acto se formalizó el pacto que tan sólo dos días antes el PSOE, por medio de su secretario general provincial, Francisco González Cabaña, y su secretario de la agrupación de San Roque, Juan Carlos Ruiz Boix, firmaron con el PA y el PIVG para la gobernabilidad del Ayuntamiento de San Roque. Para Ruiz Boix, el pacto suscrito con el PIVG y el PA permitirá constituir un gobierno municipal “sólido, fuerte y con mayoría absoluta”. No obstante, ha querido hacer un llamamiento a las otras formaciones que han obtenido representación en la Corporación, el PP y USR, “a quienes tendemos la mano para que participen del futuro de los sanroqueños y sanroqueñas desde una

Sobre este punto, Ruiz Boix agradeció la decisión adoptada por el edil del PA Manuel Melero, “cabe resaltar especialmente los esfuerzos y el sacrificio personal por firmar el pacto que ha superado todas las presiones conocidas. Es un hombre de palabra y con compromiso. Siento Manolo las presiones que has tenido que sufrir”, dijo Ruiz Boix para referirse al ofrecimiento realizado a última hora por el PP, que estaba dispuesto a ofrecerle la Alcaldía al PA con tal de que no gobernara el PSOE, a pesar de ser la lista más votada. “Ha imperado la democracia y la libertad de conformar un gobierno justo para San Roque”, aseguró Ruiz Boix.
El Pleno se inició con la constitución de la Mesa de Edad que presidió el pleno hasta que se eligió el nuevo alcalde. Tras el examen de las credenciales y declaración de intereses y personalidad de los concejales electos, se procedió a la toma de posesión de cada uno de los ediles con la fórmula de juramento o promesa del cargo y la Constitución, realizándose en orden de mayor a menor en función de los resultados de cada grupo en los comicios. Eligieron la fórmula de la promesa un total de once concejales, mientras que diez optaron por el juramento. Tras el juramento se ofreció la posibilidad a los portavoces de cada grupo político de justificar su posición. Discursos Comenzó José Antonio Rojas, quien leyó un breve discurso en el que se proponía a Juan Carlos Ruiz Boix como candidato a alcalde al tratarse de quien “han elegido de forma mayoritaria las vecinas y los vecinos de San Ro-
que y sus barriadas”. Indicó que es “un candidato que cuenta con el aval de los votos, que cuenta con el empuje de su juventud, que al mismo tiempo aporta una enorme experiencia en la gestión municipal, que reúne las condiciones de liderazgo exigidas a un alcalde, y que estamos convencidos no va a faltar con los compromisos electorales alcanzados con los ciudadanos de nuestro municipio”. Seguidamente tomó la palabra José Antonio Cabrera, cuyo discurso comenzó con cierta ironía, sobre todo al comentar sus recuerdos de los concejales de los distintos grupos políticos que no repiten en la Corporación. A continuación pasó a reseñar la situación en la que Fernando Palma se encontró el Ayuntamiento cuando tomó posesión como alcalde en 2007, que calificó de “desastre” desde el punto de vista económico. “Hoy nos vamos del gobierno -añadió- con los deberes cumplidos, aunque reste mucho por hacer”.
Luego comentó el punto de vista de su formación sobre los socios del PSOE, el PIVG y PA. En cuanto al partido del Valle del Guadiaro, indicó que “tras probar las mieles del gobierno y la frialdad de la oposición, ha optado cambiar una descentralización administrativa real por una hipotética ELA” que, dijo, los socialistas prometen desde finales de 1998. Por su parte, José Antonio Ledesma comenzó manifestando la voluntad de USR de “cooperar, trabajar y esforzarse por el progreso de los sanroqueños”. En cuanto a los 12 años de su formación en la Corporación dijo que, a pesar de los avances, “hay que reconocer con humildad que también hemos cometido errores. Pero estoy seguro que han sido por primar los intereses generales y públicos sobre los privados y por querer esforzarnos para mejorar la calidad de vida de los sanroqueños”. Tras felicitar al nuevo alcalde, criticó “un pacto político que no llegamos a entender y que es

Tras dar la bienvenida a los ediles que tomaban posesión por primera vez, manifestó que “seremos leales, porque tenemos un acuerdo programático muy claro”. En su opinión, todos los sanroqueños y no sólo los habitantes del Valle del Guadiaro acabarán apreciando el trabajo de su grupo “cuando dentro de unos años vean los resultados”. Finalmente, tomó la palabra Manuel Melero, quien comenzó criticando “la caprichosa Ley D'Hont” y agradeciendo “el comportamiento que han tenido los anteriores concejales con el PA y mi persona, cumpliendo los acuerdos firmados con el grupo socialista y el PIVG desde la transparencia y la legalidad”. Asimismo, tuvo palabras de agradecimiento “a todos nuestros colaboradores y votantes, pero sobre todo a Pepe Vera, que con su apoyo puedo estar más seguro y tranquilo de estar junto a una persona honrada y decente”.

Investidura A continuación tuvo lugar la votación en sí, en la que Juan Carlos Ruiz Boix contó con once votos y diez votos se emitieron en blanco. En ese momento, el presidente de la Mesa de Edad proclamó a Juan Carlos Ruiz Boix alcalde de la ciudad, el candidato socialista prometió el cargo y recibió el Bastón de Mando del Ayuntamiento de manos de su predecesor, Fernando Palma. El nuevo alcalde tomó entonces la palabra, Boix en sus primeras palabras como primer edil, agradeció a su partido y a los votantes su confianza, mostrando especial gratitud “al Partido Andalucista, y en especial a sus dos concejales, a Pepe Vera y a Manolo Melero, por la confianza de-
positada en mi persona y sobre todo por su enorme valor a la palabra dada, por su compromiso con la Democracia y por el enorme sacrificio que supone para todo candidato a alcalde renunciar a una Alcaldía cuando se te pone en bandeja”. También agradeció al PIVG su confianza en un “proyecto de presente y futuro de San Roque”. A continuación, anunció su “compromiso de trabajar por esta ciudad y por cada una de las barriadas que conforman el municipio. Compromiso de trabajar para todos los ciudadanos, por los mayores, por las mujeres y los hombres; trabajaremos para conseguir la igualdad en derechos y oportunidades para los casi 30.000 habitantes que tiene San Roque”,
así como en “mejorar nuestra convivencia” y “calidad de vida”. Indicó que la sociedad sanroqueña “nos reclama que destensionemos el ambiente político”, además de exigir “dedicación a la resolución de sus problemas y demandas”, en busca del “consenso para alcanzar la decisión más adecuada para todos”. En este sentido, hizo un llamamiento “a contribuir entre todos a lograr este objetivo que nos demandan los ciudadanos”. Finalizó deseando no defraudar al pueblo de San Roque, para que “al final de este mandato en el año 2015, podamos mostrarnos satisfechos de la labor realizada. Ahora toca a comenzar el trabajo. Muchas gracias a todos”, concluyó el nuevo alcalde.
El Campo de Gibraltar cuenta con caras nuevas en todas sus alcaldías. Tras la celebración de los plenos constitutivos, todos los sillones de alcaldía han cambiado de color político. José Ignacio Landaluce Calleja (PP) es así el alcalde de Algeciras, cargo que ocupa gracias al apoyo de los quince concejales de su partido. En La Línea, que tradicionalmente ha contado con alcaldes populares, fue nombrada alcaldesa Gemma Araujo (PSOE) gracias a los dos concejales andalucistas, aunque los mismos han dejado claro que no formarán parte del Gobierno. En Castellar, llegó la sorpresa al acabar la hegemonía socialista en el municipio, así, resultó electo el candidato de Izquierda Unida, Juan Casanova, por seis votos, gracias al apoyo de la concejal del PP, frente a los cinco del candidato so-
cialista, Francisco Vaca. Jorge Romero (PA) es el nuevo alcalde de Los Barrios aunque no cuenta con mayoría absoluta. En la votación, Romero obtuvo 10 votos, David Gil (PP) 5; Juan Montedeoca (PSOE) 4, y Miguel Domínguez Conejo (PIBA) 2. En Jimena, al no existir mayoría absoluta en la votación, fue proclamado alcalde Francisco Pineda como cabeza de lista de la formación política con más votos en las elecciones, el Partido Popular. Al encontrarse ausente, la ley establece que tome posesión el siguiente miembro de su lista electoral, en este caso Guillermo Ruíz. Por último, el Ayuntamiento de Tarifa será gobernado por Juan Andrés Gil (PP) tras ser investido alcalde con el apoyo del Partido Andalucista (PA).
Cinco votos decisivos Cabe recordar que la alcaldía de San Roque finalmente se ha decidido por cinco votos, ya que tras las impugnaciones, la Junta Electoral Central resolvió que el PSOE fue la formación más votada en las pasadas elecciones municipales, superando por cinco votos al PP. Estos cinco votos le otorgaron a los socialistas un concejal más que a los populares, un total de siete frente a seis. He then reviewed the situation that Fernando Palma found the municipal council in when he took office as mayor in 2007, which he described as a “disaster” from an economic point of view. “Now we leave government,” he added, “with our duty done, but there is still much to do”. He then commented on his party’s view of the members of the PSOE, the PIVG and the PA. In reference to the Guadiaro Valley Party (PIVG), he indicated that “after acquiring a taste for power and the coldness of the opposition, they have chosen to swap real administrative decentralisation for a hypothetical ‘Local Autonomous Entity’ (ELA)”, which, he said, the socialists had been promising since late 1998. For his part, José Antonio Le-
desma began by expressing USR’s desire to “cooperate and work hard for the progress of the people of San Roque”. In relation to his party’s 12 years in government, he said that, despite the advances made, “we have to humbly admit that we have also made mistakes. But I am sure that it has been to put general and public interests above private ones and to strive to improve the quality of life of the people of San Roque”. After congratulating the new mayor, he criticised “a political pact that we do not understand which many members of the public are opposed to”. He explained that “we will never, ever accept the creation of an ELA (a Local Autonomous Entity, for the Guadiaro Valley), nor the subsequent segregation of part of our municipality”, an opposition that could include “social mobilisation if necessary”. Jesús Mayoral then improvised a few brief words, firstly thanking his voters for the trust placed in him, which in his view follows the good work carried out over the last two years. The socialist candidate undertook to fill the post and received the ceremonial staff of the municipal council from his predecessor, Fernando Palma. The new mayor then spoke and Boix, with his first words as mayor, thanked his party and all the voters for their trust. In particular he thanked the “Andalusian Regionalist Party (PA), and their two councillors, Pepe Vera and Manolo Melero, for the trust they have placed in me and above all for their huge regard for one’s word, for their commitment to democracy and for the enormous sacrifice that is involved for any candidate for mayor to give up the mayoralty when it is handed to you on a plate”. He also thanked the PIVG for placing their trust in a “project for the present and future of San Roque”.

Five decisive votes The San Roque mayoralty was ultimately decided by five votes, because following the appeals, the Central Election Board ruled that the PSOE was the most-voted party in the municipal elections, beating the PP by five votes. José Ignacio Landaluce Calleja (PP) is the new mayor of Algeciras, a post that he will fill thanks to the support of the fifteen councillors in his party. In La Línea, which has traditionally had Popular Party mayors, Gemma Araujo (PSOE) was named mayoress, thanks to the two Andalucista councillors, although they have made it clear that they will not be part of the government. In Castellar, the surprise came when the socialists’ hegemony in the municipality came to an end, with the Izquierda Unida (United Left) candidate, Juan Casanova, elected to the post with six votes, thanks to the support of the PP councillor, against the five votes for the so-

ace ya tiempo que tenía en mente dedicar una serie de artículos a las diferentes injusti-cias estructurales que creo que tiene nuestro sistema democrático español. He dudado mucho en cuanto al nombre de esta serie de artículos porque la acepción correcta del término falacia, según el diccionario de la Real Academia Española de la Lengua, es la de "engaño, fraude o mentira con que se intenta dañar a alguien" o bien la de "hábito de emplear falsedades en daño ajeno". Al final he decidido mantener el tér-mino porque refleja bastante bien la idea que quiero expresar. En realidad vamos a tratar de engaños, fraudes o mentiras que intentan hacer un daño. Y ese daño no es otro que tratar de forma desigual a personas que en principio son iguales pero haciendo ver que en una democracia esto no puede suceder. El daño que se produce aquí es el intento de convencer a la mayoría de que en un estado de derecho democrático no pueden acaecer las cosas que realmente suceden. En próximos artículos vamos a tratar de los pilares de la sociedad democrática española analizando la pretendida división de poderes y deteniéndonos muy especialmente en la tan cacareada independencia del poder judicial, en el mito de la libertad de expresión de los medios de comunicación o en la pretendida igualdad de todos los ciudadanos ante la ley. Los "poderes" establecidos en la constitución española son la Corona,
las Cortes Gene-rales, el Gobierno, el Poder Judicial, la Administración Local y las Comunidades Autó-nomas, dedicándole un capítulo especial al Tribunal Constitucional. Nosotros vamos a dejar de lado en los artículos que estamos preparando tanto la Corona como las Cortes Generales porque su funcionamiento en principio no da lugar a situaciones hipócritas o al menos no hemos sido capaces de detectarlas. Aparte de estos poderes establecidos y regulados en la Constitución están los llamados "poderes fácticos" que tienen igual o más peso en el desarrollo de la vida democrática del país tal y como iremos exponiendo. Nos referimos a los medios de comunicación, sindicatos y empresas o empresarios de incuestionable influencia en la vida pública y que gozan de poder real. La antigua teoría de Montesquieu sobre la división de poderes se ha querido aplicar a nuestra constitución si bien, como dice Ricardo García Macho en su obra problemática de la división de poderes en la actualidad, cuando se alude a la división de poderes in-mediatamente se está haciendo referencia al término de control. Lo que hace Montes-quieu es dividir las fuerzas políticas existentes en tres (rey, nobleza y pueblo) adscri-biéndoles otras tantas funciones estatales (legislativo, ejecutivo y judicial). Sin embargo en realidad había que repartir los tres poderes políticos entre dos funciones estatales, puesto que la jurisdicción es una función necesaria al cumplir un objetivo social, pero no es un poder político real. Teniendo en cuenta esto, se adscriben la representación popular y la nobleza al legislativo, creando dos Cámaras (Baja y Alta) y la Administra-ción permanece en manos del rey. Con esta división no se está haciendo otra cosa que resaltar las fuerzas políticas y sociales que en aquel tiempo tenían poder real y organi-zarlas dentro de la estructura constitucional pues era necesario evitar la concentración en una sola mano de dos o más fuerzas políticas.

In the articles we are preparing we will leave aside both the Crown and the General Assembly, be-cause their function, on principle, does not give rise to hypocritical situations, or at least we are unable to detect any. Aside from these established powers, also regulated by the Constitution are the ‘institu-tions which hold effective control’, which hold the same or more weight in the coun-tr y ’s democratic life, as we will see. We are referring to the media, trade unions and companies or businesspeople of unquestionable influence in public life, which enjoy real power. Montesquieu’s old theory on the division of power has been applied to our constitution, even though, as Ricardo García Macho says in his problematic study of the current divi-sion of power, alluding to the division of power is to immediately refer to the means of control. What Montesquieu does is divide the existing political forces into three (king, nobility and people), ascribing three state functions to them (legislative, executive and judicial). However, in reality the three political powers had to be divided between two state functions, given that jurisprudence is a function required to fulfil a social objec-tive, but it is not a real political power. Bearing this in mind, popular representation and the nobility are ascribed to the legislature, creating two chambers (low and high) and administration remains in the hands of the king. This division essentially emphasises the political and social forces that had real power at that time, organising them within the constitutional structure since it was necessary to avoid concentrating two or more politi-cal forces in one hand.
Las falacias de la democracia española (I)
or some time I have had in mind the idea of writing a series of articles on the structural injustices that I believe are inherent to our Spanish democratic system. I pondered long and hard on the title of this series of articles, because the correct mean-ing of the word falacia (‘fallacy ’), according to the Spanish Royal Academy’s diction-ary, is “trick, fraud or lie used to harm someone”, or “the practice of using falsehoods to cause harm to others”. In the end I decided to go with the term because it reflects the idea I want to express fairly well. We are indeed going to discuss tricks, frauds and lies that attempt to cause harm. This harm consists of treating people who, on principle, are equal, in an unequal manner, while making it seem like this cannot happen in a democ-racy. The harm that is caused here is the attempt to convince the majority that the things that actually take place cannot occur in a state of democratic law. In forthcoming articles we will examine the pillars of Spanish democratic society, as-sessing the so-called division of power and paying special attention to the much-vaunted independence of the judicial system, the myth of the media’s freedom of expression and the so-called equality of all citizens in the eyes of the law. La totalidad de las playas de San Roque presentan una calidad del agua apta para el baño

Según los datos recogidos en el informe emitido por la Consejería de Salud sobre la situación sanitaria de las aguas de baño de carácter marítimo correspondiente al inicio de temporada de baño 2011, todas las playas del litoral sanroqueño presentan unas condiciones aptas para el baño. Las analíticas se han realizado en las playas de Cala Sardina, Torreguadiaro, Sotogrande, Puente Mayorga, Campamento, y Guadarranque. Estos resultados se enmarcan dentro del “Informe sobre calidad sanitaria de las aguas de baño de Andalucía al inicio de la temporada de baño 2011” realizado por el mencionado organismo, encargado de realizar pruebas quincenalmente y cuyos resultados tienen carácter de información pública.
Las aguas de baño marítimas presentan, según los datos correspondientes al informe de inicio de temporada, un estado sanitario bueno o muy bueno en el 99% de los casos. Los parámetros vigilados en las aguas de baño se distribuyen en tres categorías; analíticos obligatorios, inspección visual y parámetros ambientales circunstanciales. El objetivo de estos controles pretende incidir en la protección de la salud humana otor-
gando un papel fundamental a la información al público. La Consejería ha recordado que son los ayuntamientos los encargados de mantener las condiciones de limpieza y salubridad de las zonas de baño, de colocar carteles informativos con las características, infraestructuras y medidas de seguridad, de vigilar los posibles puntos de vertido cercano para evitar riesgos y adoptar las medidas de gestión que le requieran las administraciones sanitarias y ambiental.

Hace unas semanas, los propietarios de locales en Paniagua y la EUC denunciaban a El Periódico de Sotogrande el hecho de que se quisiera instalar una hamburguesería ambulante en una zona verde situada junto al aparcamiento. Los intentos de la empresa cesaron, aunque el pasado 13 de junio, ya con todos los documentos en regla y con todos los permisos necesarios aprobados, la empresa Enjoy Hamburguer esperaba dejar instalado este vagón de comida rápida, esta vez en la zona de aparcamientos de la parte superior de Paniagua. La sorpresa del propietario al llegar con la hamburguesería para instalarla, fue encontrarse el aparcamiento ocupado de coches y elementos de obra, por lo que aunque se avisó a la Policía Local, no se pudo instalar el ne-
gocio. Javier Muñiz, en nombre de la franquicia Peggy Sue, responsable de la Hamburguesería, ha querido manifestar que cuentan con todos los permisos necesarios, y que aunque el lugar donde se vaya a instalar sea zona verde, el Ayuntamiento ha dado el visto bueno ya que es un negocio temporal, sólo para los meses de verano, en los que se pretende dar un nuevo servicio a la comunidad. Los propietarios aseguran que no tienen nada en contra de los responsables de la hamburguesería, pero que de permitirse que se instale este negocio se entrará en competencia desleal ya que “ellos no pagan local, ni comunidad pero harían uso de nuestros servicios y además nos quitarían zonas de aparcamientos”, indica Miguel Preysler. Además, se asegura que “en el caso de que se instale este negocio finalmente, se creará un precedente que no interesa a la urbanización y que poco a poco Sotogrande podría convertirse en un lugar lleno de casetas de feria”.

Medio Ambiente prohibe encender fuego en el campo

Un año más, el pasado 1 de junio, entró en vigor la Orden de la Consejería de Medio Ambiente de la Junta de Andalucía por la cual se prohíbe encender cualquier tipo de fuego (incluidas barbacoas) en el campo hasta el próximo 15 de octubre. Para lo que el Ayuntamiento de San Roque ya ha puesto en marcha los dispositivos precisos para el cumplimiento de esta Orden. La Orden prohíbe totalmente el uso del fuego y la circulación de vehículos a motor en las zonas forestales de la Comunidad Autónoma durante estos meses de verano. La prohibición afecta a la quema de vegetación natural y residuos agrícolas y forestales,
así como al uso del fuego para la preparación de alimentos, que tampoco podrá realizarse en zonas de acampada o zonas recreativas que estén acondicionadas para ello. Igualmente, también queda prohibida la circulación de vehículos a motor fuera de la red de carreteras. Ambas prohibiciones se circunscriben a todos los terrenos forestales y zonas de influencia forestal, que son los terrenos no forestales (agrícolas y urbanos) situados a menos de 400 metros de los forestales. En San Roque, es importante recordar que esta prohibición también afecta al Pinar del Rey, donde incluso hay barbacoas de mampostería instaladas, pero ni siquiera en estas instalaciones se puede encender fuego.

cles in wooded areas of the autonomous region over the summer months. The ban applies to burning natural vegetation and agricultural and forestry waste, as well as the use of fire in food preparation, which will even be prohibited in camping or recreational areas that are equipped for cooking. Equally, the use of motor vehicles is also banned outside of the road net-
work. The two bans apply to all woodland and forestry catchment areas, which includes non-forestry land (agricultural and urban) located under 400 metres from the wooded areas. In San Roque, it is important to remember that this ban also affects Pinar del Rey, where there are stone barbecues already set up, but not even these facilities can be used for lighting fires.

El pasado 5 de junio se celebró el Día Mundial del Medio Ambiente, ocasión que aprovechó la Fundación Migres para dar por finalizado el estudio de seguimiento y análisis que empezó a principios de febrero sobre la migración que durante la primavera llevan a cabo las aves planeadoras. La iniciativa, que pertenece al Programa Migres de la Con-
sejería de Medio Ambiente de la Junta de Andalucía, ha dado como resultado que un total de nueve especies de aves planeadoras dominan la migración prenupcial de este grupo, con más del 99% de los registros. Se trata del milano negro, el abejero europeo, la cigüeña blanca, la culebrera europea, la aguililla calzada, el buitre leonado, el gavilán común, la cigüeña negra y el alimoche co-
mún. Según Migres, se han contabilizado 63.791 aves de 25 especies distintas en Punta Carnero y Cazalla. La zona del Estrecho de Gibraltar durante la primavera se convierte en uno de los espacios más importantes para la entrada de aves a Europa y el lugar idóneo para el estudio de la migración de numerosos grupos de animales.

La ONG Trasdocar celebró el pasado 1 de junio, el Día del Donante, con un acto en la Plaza de las Constituciones en el que participaron alumnos de cuarto de primaria de los centros Maestro Apolinar, Carteia y Gabriel Arenas, el cual finalizó con la suelta de globos. Antes, los niños habían realizado redacciones sobre la donación de órganos y sangre, leyendo los autores de las seleccio-
nadas, una por clase, su redacciones. En el acto estuvo presente el doctor Luis Vallejo, coordinador de Trasplantes del Área Sanitaria del Campo de Gibraltar, e integrantes de Trasdocar, con su presidente, Lorenzo Pérez, a la cabeza. Ellos fueron los encargados de destacado la necesidad de donar órganos, “ya que es regalar vida, y ayuda a hacer una sociedad más justa”.
Además del acto realizado en la plaza de las Constituciones, Trasdocar instaló en la Alameda una mesa informativa, así como en Guadiaro, Puente Mayorga y La Estación de San Roque. Una vez más fue el Campus de Jerez el marco de desarrollo de un foro especializado en el que se dieron cita profesionales de la asesoría fiscal, estudiantes, profesores universitarios y personal de la Administración Tributaria. Esta nueva conferencia versó sobre cuestiones de máxima actualidad de tributación en la Unión Europea, encuadrada dentro de las actividades que realiza el Master en Asesoría Fiscal de la Universidad de Cádiz en colaboración con el área de Derecho Financiero y Tributario de dicha Universidad. El foro contó con la presencia de Julia Martínez Rico, subdirectora General de Asuntos Fiscales Internacionales de la Dirección General de Tributos y miembro del Comité de Expertos en Coopera-
ción Internacional en cuestiones de tributación de la ONU. Tan lustre ponente transmitió su visión sobre la situación actual de la fiscalidad directa en el seno de la Unión Europea; analizó la Directiva 2011/16/UE de Cooperación Administrativa para el intercambio de información; y la reciente propuesta de la Comisión sobre la base común consolidada en el Impuesto sobre Sociedades que pretende la localización de factores productivos (trabajadores, activos), la consolidación pérdidas y facilitar de gestión del impuesto al relacionarse sólo con una Administración. Tras esta intervención, tomó la palabra León Fernando del Canto, socio fundador de Konsilia Tax Legal, empresa colaboradora del Máster, exponiendo desde una perspectiva profesional la aplicación del
Derecho Tributario de la Unión Europea en Gibraltar haciendo especial hincapié en las modificaciones sufridas por este territorio desde su incorporación a la Unión en 1973 hasta nuestros días, en los que este territorio con jurisdicción y gobierno distinto al Reino Unido se oferta a la comunidad internacional como un centro “offshore” que es su sistema tributario, no contempla impuestos como el I.V.A., el Impuesto sobre Sucesiones, Patrimonio y Transmisiones Patrimoniales. Once again the Jerez Campus was the setting for a specialist forum attended by tax consultancy professionals, students, university lecturers and tax authority officials. This new conference dealt with hot topics in European Union taxation as part of the activities included in the University of Cadiz’s Masters in Tax Consultancy in cooperation with the university’s Finance and Taxation Law department. The forum was attended by Julia Martínez Rico, general deputy director of international tax affairs of the General Taxation Directorate and a member of the Committee of Experts in International Cooperation for UN taxation affairs. This distinguished speaker gave her view of the current situation of direct taxation in the European Union. She analysed Directive 2011/16/EU on administrative cooperation for exchanging information and the recent proposal from the Commission on the common consolidated platform on Corporation Tax, which envisages the localisation of pro-
duction factors (workers, assets), consolidation of losses and facilitating administration of the tax by associating it with just one authority. Following this talk, it was the turn of León Fernando del Canto, founding partner of Konsilia Tax Legal, the firm collaborating in the Masters, to speak. He provided a professional perspective on the application of European Union taxation law in Gibraltar, with particular reference to the changes that this territory has undergone since its incorporation into the Union in 1973. In this time, Gibraltar, with its own jurisdiction and government separate to the United Kingdom’s, has offered itself to the international community as an offshore destination, which is its taxation system, exempt from levies like VAT and inheritance tax. A lively debate was then held, moderated by Dr Adolfo Martín Jiménez, Professor of Financial and Taxation Law of the University of Cadiz, in which the importance of the subject was demonstrated by the many comments made by those attending.

San Roque ya cuenta con un nuevo Gobierno, tras la salida del PP y la entrada del PSOE, El Periódico de Sotogrande ha querido conocer la opinión de los ciudadanos del Valle del Guadiaro sobre el mismo. Los vecinos han comentado qué les parece el cambio y el pacto al que se ha llegado entre el PSOE, el PIVG y el PA. Las opiniones son muy variadas, desde los que no les gusta este pacto, hasta los que consideran beneficioso para el Valle el hecho de que el Partido Independiente por el Valle del Guadiaro tenga representación municipal con dos concejales. La EUC pide colaboración para evitar plagas de mosquitos En estos meses que anteceden al verano, empieza a preocupar entre los residentes que se creen focos de mosquitos. La EUC, como viene desarrollando desde años anteriores, ha reforzado el control y la colaboración con la empresa especializada que viene desarrollando dichos trabajos para la Entidad, para que actúe en este sentido en las zonas comunes de la urbanización y para que aconseje a los vecinos para evitar plagas en sus jardines. Cabe destacar que por la situa-
ción geográfica, climática y ambiental de Sotogrande, esta zona es propensa a sufrir plagas de mosquitos. Esto también es producto de la cantidad de piscinas, bidones y estanques que existen en la zona, lo cual hace que las picaduras que se puedan sufrir sean normalmente ocasionadas por mosquitos adultos que se han desarrollado a menos de cien metros de la vivienda o incluso dentro de la misma. Para evitar esto, se aconseja a los vecinos que eliminen recipientes
abandonados, así como que tapen pozos, aliviadero o depósitos de agua con telas mosquiteras. Además, para fuentes ornamentales se aconseja tratar el agua con productos químicos o introducir peces. El caso que más preocupa son las piscinas, ya que desde el otoño hasta estos meses se dejan con agua, la cual poco a poco va siendo colonizada por algas e insectos de todo tipo, convirtiéndose en un foto antihigiénico. Existe un Decreto del Regla-
mento Sanitario que obliga a los propietarios a adoptar en las piscinas de uso temporal, durante el periodo que no se utilicen, las medidas preventivas y correctivas que impidan el desarrollo de larvas de mosquitos en el agua contenida en el vaso o en cualquiera de las instalaciones anexas al mismo que contengan agua estancada. Igual que está haciendo la EUC en las zonas comunes, realizando tratamientos con productos biológicos específicos para las
larvas de los mosquitos, no perjudicando a otros animales ni vegetales, y sin agredir al ecosistema, se pide la colaboración de los residentes para que eviten estas plagas en sus propiedades, lo cual beneficiará tanto a ellos mismos como a toda la comunidad. De hecho la EUC se pone a disposición de los propietarios para facilitar dichos tratamientos. ( Contactar con Jose Mª Arberola, técnico de la EUC ).

The Urban Conservation Entity (EUC), as it has done in previous years, has stepped up its monitoring and cooperation with the specialised company that has been doing this work for the entity. The company operates in the communal areas of the resort and residents are provided with information to prevent plagues in
their gardens. Due to Sotogrande’s geographical location, climate and environment, the area is prone to mosquito plagues. This is also a product of the large number of swimming pools, water tanks and ponds in the area, which means that potential bites are normally inflicted by adult mosquitoes that have developed less than a hundred metres from the home or even within the property.
To avoid this, residents are advised to get rid of abandoned containers and to seal ponds, spillways or water tanks with mosquito nets. In the case of ornamental fountains, residents are advised to treat the water with chemical products or to introduce fish. The most concerning threat comes from swimming pools, because since autumn last year until now they are left with water in them, which is gradually coloni-
sed by algae and insects of all kinds, making them unsanitary. There is a Health Regulation Decree that obliges property owners to adopt preventative and corrective measures in the case of swimming pools that are not used all year round, to prevent the development of mosquito larvae in the water contained within them or in any of the adjoining installations that contain stagnant water. Much like the EUC is doing in
the communal areas, carrying out treatments with special biological products for mosquito larvae without harming other animal and plant life or damaging the ecosystem, residents are asked to prevented plagues on their properties, which will benefit both them and the whole community. Sotogrande se prepara para lucir su mejor cara este verano Como ya es habitual en estas fechas, la Entidad Urbanística de Conservación acometerá en los próximos días diferentes actuaciones con el objetivo de que la urbanización presente su mejor cara este verano. Siempre con el objetivo de mejorar la imagen de Sotogrande y a favor de la seguridad vial en la zona, durante el mes de Junio, antes de que el tráfico dentro de la urbanización sea mayor, se va a proceder al repintado de todos los badenes, pasos de cebra y se-
ñales de tráfico horizontales en las arterias principales. A pesar de que se va a mejorar la visibilidad de estos elementos, como siempre, se recomienda en estas fechas extremar la precaución cuando se conduzca por la zona, así como cumplir con las normas de tráfico, algo que redundará en el beneficio de todos. Otra actuación que se está llevando a cabo actualmente es el mantenimiento de las zonas verdes comunes, para evitar problemas de posibles focos de incendio de cara al
verano. En este sentido la EUC quiere agradecer la colaboración directa existente, con los responsables del Cuerpo de Bomberos de la zona y con el los técnicos del Ayuntamiento de San Roque. Finalmente la EUC está en proceso de rediseño de algunas entradas a la urbanización, que conseguirán una mejora estética en puntos estratégicos, que unido a la finalización de la campaña de poda de arboledas, deberán reforzar la imagen del conjunto.

creases, all of the speed bumps, zebra crossings and horizontal traffic markings on the main roads will be repainted. Although the visibility of these elements will be improved, as always drivers are urged to be extremely careful when driving in the area and to abide by the traffic regulations, which will benefit everyone. Another action currently being carried out is the maintenance of the green
communal areas, to prevent potential fire hazards over the summer. The EUC would like to express its appreciation for the existing cooperation with the local fire service and San Roque Municipal Council officials. Finally, the EUC is in the process of redesigning some entrances to the resort, which will improve its appearance at strategic points. This, combined with the completion of the tree pruning campaign, will ensure Sotogrande is at its best.

Un día en las colinas de Alemania, había dos chicas cuyos nombres eran Nina y Lulu. Eran granjeras. Y también eran muy pobres. Lo único que tenían era una pequeña casita, un jardín con verduras, un huerto, su granja y dos perros cuyos nombres eran Sally y Toto. Para ellas, lo peor era que nunca recibían regalos ni cartas. Hasta que un día apareció un paquete delante de su puerta. Estaba dirigido a Elizabeth. Después de un tiempo, Nina y Lulu habían decidido que saldrían en busca de Elizabeth (la persona que debería haber recibido el paquete). Así que lo hicieron, salieron a recorrer el mundo y Nina y Lulu llevaron a sus dos perros consigo. Buscaron día y noche. Buscaron por desiertos y bosques, incluso en las playas. Buscaron y buscaron hasta que encontraron una pequeña nota en una botella. Decía “Querido desconocido, ¡ayuda! Inglaterra casi ha muerto de hambre. Si encuen-
tras un paquete dirigido a Elizabeth, llévalo hasta el palacio de Buckingham y te recompensarán con un millón de libras y serás famoso”. Nina y Lulu y Sally y Toto partieron hacia el palacio de Buckingham pero cuando llegaron era demasiado tarde, todo el mundo había muerto de hambre. Cuando iban a abandonar, alguien se acercó y les dijo: “Hola, me llamo Elizabeth”. Entonces Lulu dio un salto y dijo: "¿Eres la reina Elizabeth?" “Sí”, dijo Elizabeth. “Tenemos un paquete dirigido a ti”. “Habéis encontrado el paquete, gracias. So they did, they set off around the world and Nina and Lulu brought their two dogs with them. They searched day and night; they searched the desert, forest, even on the beach. Programa de verano El centro permanecerá abierto durante julio y agosto. Ofrecemos continuidad para los niños de 0-6 años que han asistido regularmente durante este curso, así como para nuevos niños y aquellos cuyos padres están de vacaciones y quieren dejar a sus pequeños con nosotros. Para el programa de verano las plazas se reservan por mes, semana o días sueltos, aunque se anima a los padres a que los niños atiendan con la mayor regularidad posible.
Las maestras realizarán diferentes actividades cada semana, todas muy divertidas y constructivas, adecuadas a la edad de los niños. Habrá manualidades, diferentes talleres (cocina, plastilina, disfraces, cuenta-cuentos). También tendremos actividades de agua con globos, cubos, manguera… además de bañarnos en piscinas. Jugaremos en el arenero y practicaremos deportes, tanto al aire libre como en nuestro equipado gimnasio.
Además de utilizar las instalaciones del centro, los niños de a partir de 3 años realizarán pequeñas excursiones en el bonito entorno del centro y, muy especialmente, a la espléndida piscina de ‘The suites Hotel’ en San Roque Club. Excursión al zoológico de Castellar El pasado 23 de mayo los pequeños de 3-5 años fueron a visitar el zoológico de Castellar. Los pequeños se lo pasaron muy bien conociendo a los
orangutanes, loros, tortugas y cerditos, entre otros. Esta excusión tenía un marcado carácter didáctico pues era parte de la unidad en la que han estado tra-
bajando recientemente sobre animales. Las monitoras del zoo fueron fantásticas y los niños aprendieron mucho a la vez que se divirtieron de lo lindo.
Castellar Zoo excursion On May 23, the three- to five-yearold children visited Castellar Zoo. The kids had a great time discovering orangutans, parrots, turtles and
piglets, among other animals. The excursion was very educational as part of the module that the children have recently been working on
about animals. The zoo monitors were fantastic and the children learned a great deal while having a wonderful time.

Este año hemos enfocado las Jornadas a los juegos populares del mundo. Nuestro esfuerzo se dirige a valorar nuestra riqueza cultural y que la Comunidad Educativa y nuestro entorno sea
partícipe de nuestra realidad y los valores que transmite en cuanto a fomento de la convivencia y desarrollo de buenas prácticas. Siguiendo en esa línea, el martes celebramos la fiesta fin de curso bajo el lema “VEN Y JUEGA CON TU HIJO/A”. Finalizamos con el acto de clausura de las Jornadas el miércoles 16 y la representación de “La venganza de don Mendo” de nuestro alumnado de 6º. The aim was to acknowledge our cultural diversity and for the educational community and everyone around it to participate in our reality and the values that it transmits in terms of promoting coexistence and the
development of good practices. In this vein, on the Tuesday we held an end-of-term party under the motto “COME AND PLAY WITH YOUR CHILD”. We finish with a closing ceremony on Wednesday 16, when our 6th year pupils will perform La venganza de Don Mendo (‘Don Mendo’s Vengeance’). There will also be a Culinary Exhibition with families and teachers taking part. We would like to offer our sincere thanks to all the people and organisations involved for their effort and cooperation in making this event possible once again.
We’re different but we’re equal On Saturday June 11, the 3rd CEIP Gloria Fuertes Educational Community Day was held at Finca La Alcaidesa. The event was a great success in terms of participation and representation of the various nationalities. We enjoyed a variety of enjoyable activities: hiking, climbing, archery, swimming and, to finish, a big paella and Argentine barbecue. Everything was organised brilliantly by the Finca management. Alejandro Ponce de León llegó a Triay & Triay España contando a sus espaldas con una amplia trayectoria profesional, gracias a la cual, lleva cuatro años como director general de las oficinas españolas en Marbella y Sotogrande. Junto a él se encuentran sus otros socios, Raymond Triay como presidente del despacho, y John Hodgson como encargado de llevar la parte internacional del despacho. ¿Cuál es su trayectoria? Tras licenciarme en Derecho, realicé en 1996 en Madrid un Master en Asesoría Jurídica de Empresas, y antes de acabar comencé a trabajar para el despacho J&A Garrigues. Desde el año 2000 comencé a trabajar en el sector inmobiliario con grandes promotoras como asesor jurídico. Por varias circunstancias personales decidí volver a Marbella para instalarme, y ahí surge la oportunidad de trabajar con la familia Triay, con quienes comenzamos a colaborar inicialmente con una sociedad conjunta, siendo independiente cada despacho, pero al año y medio de esta colaboración, en concreto, a finales de 2007, pasé a ser socio de la parte española de Triay. En este proceso, además de la oficina de
Marbella se incluyó el despacho de uno de los hermanos Triay en Sotogrande, HBT Legal Services. Entonces, ¿su especialidad es el derecho inmobiliario? Aunque actualmente tengo labores de gestión y organización, si, mi especialidad es el asesoramiento inmobiliario, de hecho, además del master en asesoría jurídica, tengo un postgrado en derecho inmobiliario y urbanismo por la Universidad Complutense. En esta zona, tanto en la Costa del Sol como en Sotogrande, el tema inmobiliario lo inunda todo, es decir, aquí los asuntos jurídicos más destacados son éstos, aunque obviamente, gracias a nuestro equipo de profesionales, estamos capacitados para llevar adelante cualquier proceso jurídico, del ámbito que sea. Además del sector inmobiliario, ¿hay algún área específica en la que Triay España destaque? Por la zona en la que estamos, con nuestros despachos de Marbella y Sotogrande, cabe destacar que Triay España está muy vinculado con el mundo del golf. Somos el despacho encargado de los asuntos de la Asociación de Gerentes de campos de Golf, lo que comprende
a los 120 campos que existen en Andalucía. Además llevamos en exclusiva algunos campos de golf, como San Roque Golf, y la representación en los tribunales de otros ocho clubes. También destacamos en Derecho Internacional Privado, tanto en materia de herencias como en Derecho de familia (divorcios, filiación, …). ¿Qué tipo de clientes confían en Triay? El 90% de nuestros clientes no son españoles, pero residen en el área de Marbella y Sotogrande, y también contamos con empresas que hacen inversiones en esta zona, a parte de los campos de golf que ya he mencionado anteriormente. Además, ahora estamos dando asesoramiento a las compañías de casinos online después de la aprobación de la Ley del Juego en España, dado que ya en Gibraltar contamos como clientes con algunos de los Compañías de Apuestas más importantes de allí, y estamos trabajando en sus licencias para que puedan actuar en España. También asesoramos y somos abogados de varios bancos de Gibraltar. ¿En qué medida está preparado el despacho para atender a estos clientes?

After graduating in law, I undertook a masters in corporate legal consultancy in Madrid and, before I completed it, I started working for the J&A Garrigues firm. I worked there until 2000 in the procedural department in Madrid and then at the Canary Islands office, where I started my activity in the planning and property world. From 2000, when I returned to Madrid, I worked for two major developers as a legal adviser. Due to various personal circumstances I decided to return to settle in
Marbella, where the opportunity came up to work with the Triay family, with whom we initially began to collaborate with a joint enterprise, with each firm functioning independently. A year and a half later, in late 2007, I became a partner in the Spanish branch of Triay. In addition to the Marbella office, the firm of one of the Triay brothers in Sotogrande, HBT Legal Services, was included in this process. So, do you specialise in property law? Although I am currently involved in management and organisation, yes, my speciality is real-estate consultancy; in fact, in addition to my masters in legal consultancy, I have a postgraduate qualification in property and planning law from the Complutense University. In this area, both on the Costa del Sol and in Sotogrande, property is all-pervasive, or in other words, here the signi-
ficant legal issues are real-estate related. However, obviously, thanks to our team of professionals we are qualified to undertake any legal process, whatever the field may be. In addition to the property market, is there is a specific sector that Triay España excels in? Because of the area that we are in, with our offices in Marbella and Sotogrande, Triay España has close ties with the golf world. We are the firm responsible for affairs of the Association of Golf Course Managers, which comprises the 120 courses that exist in Andalusia. We also provide exclusive services to some golf courses, like San Roque Golf, and represent another eight clubs in the courts. We also specialise in private international law, including inheritance and family law (divorce, lineage...) What kind of clients place their trust in Triay?

Una de nuestras características más importantes es que contamos con abogados españoles e ingleses, éstos últimos con la titulación y los conocimientos necesarios para trabajar con casos en Gibraltar e Inglaterra. En Triay sabemos que estamos en una zona en la que el mercado extranjero es muy amplio, por lo que nos adaptamos a la legislación jurídica de cada país según sea necesario para cada caso. Nuestro compromiso es servir como puerta de entrada para clientes de Gibraltar o del mundo anglosajón y acompañarlos en su estancia. Para nosotros el cliente no sólo es interesante cuando va a hacer una gestión inicial importante (inversión), sino que tenemos que estar ahí cuando haya grandes o pequeños problemas, o simplemente cuando se necesite asesoramiento. Para hacer eso dentro del equipo tenemos profesionales que hablan inglés, francés, holandés e italiano.
Los clientes que existen en la zona de Sotogrande y Marbella necesitan un servicio especial, cercano, discreto y de confianza. Por último, ¿qué necesidades jurídicas tiene la zona? Si queremos que la zona sea un lugar grato para venir a vivir, para invertir, para el desarrollo, debemos tener unos buenos juzgados, algo que hoy por hoy es una de las cosas de las que adolece el área de Sotogrande. Lamentablemente no se está pudiendo dar satisfacción a los problemas de las personas de aquí porque los procesos son muy lentos por la falta de medios de la Administración. Creo que en este sentido, los abogados, al menos el despacho Triay así lo intenta, debemos colaborar y tener claro que una de nuestras funciones es tratar de conciliar posturas entre las distintas partes para que sólo lleguen a los Tribunales los temas más complejos.

In addition, now we are advising online casino firms following the approval of the Gaming Law in Spain, given that we already have clients in Gibraltar that include some of the most important betting firms based there, and we are working on their licences so that they can operate in Spain. We also advise and act as lawyers for several Gibraltarian banks. In what way is the firm equipped to attend to these clients? One of our most important qualities is that we have Spanish and English lawyers, the latter of whom have the necessary qualifications and knowledge to work with cases in Gibraltar and England. At Triay we know that we are in an area where there is a very sizeable foreign market, so we adapt ourselves to the legislation of each country as required for
each case. Our objective is to act as a gateway for clients from Gibraltar or the English-speaking world and to accompany them during their time here. We are not just interested in clients who are going to make a significant initial investment; we must also be there when there are problems big or small, or simply when advice is needed. To do so, our team includes professionals who speak English, French, Dutch and Italian. Finally, what legal needs does the area have? If we want the area to be a good place in which to live, invest in, for development, we must have good courts, which is currently one of the things that Sotogrande is currently lacking. Unfortunately it is difficult to resolve people’s problems around here because the processes are very slow due to the lack of resources. In this regard, or at least this is what the Triay firm endeavours to do, lawyers must cooperate and understand that one of our functions is to try to reconcile standpoints between the various parties so that only the most complex matters reach the courts.

Tiger Lily has some of the most famous brands in England, like French Connection, Ted Baker, Elizabeth Hurley Swimwear, Maaji, Abro Bags, Annie Haak Jewellery and Bourne Collection. Their customers will now have the chance to get their hands on fashion from these labels without having to leave Sotogrande. The shop is run by Gabriella Canepa and Gillian Barnett, who
say they have been working really hard to bring the latest in women’s fashion to Sotogrande, with quality brands and prices that are affordable to the public in the area. For the time being, all the clothes and accessories are for women, but the owners are not ruling out including men’s clothes from some of these labels in the future. The owners would like to invite local women to visit the shop, which offers fashion for all ages, as well as loads of accessories and a wide range of swimwear ideal for the summer season now underway.

Bahía Limón es mucho más que un chiringuito a pie de playa. Un año más son fieles a su filosofía y han abierto sus puertas con un buen número de actividades para que sus clientes disfruten este verano de unas tardes inolvidables de playa. La música, los espectáculos circenses, la buena comida y los cócteles volverán a ser algunas de las principales actividades del chiringuito, aunque también se esperan numerosas novedades y sorpresas a lo largo del verano. Entre las actividades que
han hecho que el chiringuito cuente con un buen número de asiduos, la música ocupa un lugar especial en el calendario de actividades que aún se está cerrando para este verano. Almenara acogió el pasado 4 de junio el Primer Torneo de Golf a beneficio de la Asociación Pablo Ugarte, donde gracias a la colaboración de multitud de empresas de Sotogrande y a la alta participación de los residentes, se consiguió recaudar 3.000 euros. Esta cantidad se donó, durante un sencillo acto durante la entrega de premios, a Mariano Ugarte, padre del fallecido Pablo Ugarte, e impulsor de esta Asociación que se dedica a recaudar fondos para la investigación contra el cáncer. El cheque fue entregado por Jordi Caralt, director de operaciones de NH Resort Europa, quien se mostró muy satisfecho por contribuir a esta gran causa, y agradeció a la familia Ugarte la fortaleza para seguir trabajando en esta gran causa. Por su parte, Mariano Ugarte no quiso olvidar a nadie en sus agradecimientos, destacando la participación de más de 45 empresas colabora-
doras, así como las muestras desinteresadas de colaboración de personas como Belén Almansa, quien ayudó a organizar un fantástico mercadillo solidario en las instalaciones de Almenara durante la celebración del torneo. Dinero destinado a investigación El torneo de golf celebrado en Almenara fue uno más de los eventos que la Asociación, gracias a sus colaboradores y socios, organiza para recaudar fondos. Actualmente, la Asociación, a pesar de no llevar en marcha ni tan sólo un año, cuenta con más de mil socios, algunos de lugares tan lejanos como Australia. Todos ellos colaboran a través de donaciones, así como particulares y empresas que de forma solidaria aporta su granito de arena para ayudar a la lucha contra el cáncer. Todo el dinero recaudado, según explica Mariano Ugarte, se destina a dos equipos de investigación. El primero es el del Hospital San Juan de Dios de Barcelona, que se dedica a investigar el Sarcoma de Ewing, tipo de cáncer por el que falleció Pablo Ugarte. El segundo es para el equipo de investigación del Reina Sofía de Córdoba, donde el doctor Román trabaja en el estudio de la leucemia. Además de conseguir 3.000 euros para la asociación, Mariano Ugarte aseguró que este torneo había servido para dar a conocer la asociación entre un buen número de personas, “si de esta jornada sale un solo socio para la Asociación, me quedo más que satisfecho”.

Pablo Ugarte Association receives 3,000 euros thanks to Sotogrande solidarity On June 4 Almenara hosted the First Charity Golf Tournament in aid of the Pablo Ugarte Association, in which, thanks to the help of a large number of Sotogrande businesses and a high turnout of residents, 3,000 euros were collected. This money was presented in a simple ceremony during the prize-giving to Mariano Ugarte, father of the late Pablo Ugarte and the instigator of this association which raises funds for cancer research. The cheque was handed
over by Jordi Caralt, the NH Resorts Europe director of operations, who expressed his great satisfaction at being able to help this charity and praised the Ugarte family for their strength in continuing to work for this great cause. Mariano Ugarte did not want to forget anyone in his acknowledgements, thanking the over 45 firms that contributed, as well as the selfless contributions of people like Belén Almansa, who helped to organise a fantastic charity market at the
Almenara grounds during the tournament. Although, on occasions like this, the prizes are not the most important thing, almost all of the hundred or more participants received something. The winner of group two was Antonio Simón García, with a total of 40 points, while Peter Reese finished second with 37. In Group One, first place went to Antonio Gómez, with Victor Bjorlow finishing in second. Marguerite Jordan finished top among the women.

Money in aid of research The golf tournament held at Almenara was just another event that the association organised to raise funds, thanks to its collaborators and members. Currently, although it has only been up and running for one year, the association has over a thousand members, some from places as far away as Australia. All of them contribute by making donations, plus individuals and companies do their bit to help in the fight against cancer. All the money collected, as Mariano Ugarte explains, goes to two research teams. The first is the group at Hospital San Juan de Dios in Barcelona, which researches Ewing’s sarcoma, the type of cancer that Pablo Ugarte died from. The second is the Reina Sofía research team in Cordoba, where Doctor Ramón studies leukaemia. In addition to collecting 3,000 euros for the association, Mariano Ugarte said that the tournament helped to raise awareness of the charity among a large number of people, and that “if the association gets one more member from this event, I’ll be more than satisfied”.

La profesional rusa, Maria Verchenova ha sido nombrada embajadora de las Jason Floyd Golf Academy y desde principios de junio se encuentra en Sotogrande -junto a su hermana Anna de 18 años que también quiere ser profesional-, donde va a trabajar durante varios meses con todo el equipo de Jason Floyd en una preparación específica de cara a su vuelta a la competición en el Circuito Europeo Femenino. La jugadora rusa, que no ha podido competir al cien por cien las últimas temporadas debido a problemas de espalda, se ha puesto en manos de Floyd con el firme convencimiento de que “será lo más beneficioso para el futuro. Estoy muy ilusionada porque por primera vez voy a contar con un gran equipo que me ayudará a una completa preparación, no sólo técnica sino también física y mental, y vamos a trabajar en todos los aspectos que rodean el juego como la nutrición o la estrategia”. “Anna y yo vamos a pasar dos meses con el equipo de JFGA en Sotogrande, luego volveré a jugar algunos torneos del LET y durante el invierno nos instalaremos de nuevo en España. Este país me encanta y aquí me siento muy bien, me gusta la comida, la gente es muy
simpática, y una de mis mejores amigas en el Tour es Emma Cabrera. Las jugadoras españolas son muy buenas, tienen un gran potencial. Mi primer año como profesional fue muy duro y me sentí muy sola, aunque la temporada siguiente hice muchas amigas. “Yo quería ser bailarina y fui a la Escuela del Ballet Nacional de Rusia desde los tres a los quince años, incluso llegué a impartir clase a pesar de ser tan joven. El ballet era mi pasión hasta que un día me planteé: ‘¿danza o golf?’. Empecé a jugar al golf con 12 años y enseguida me entusiasmó. No me arrepiento de la decisión que to-
mé aunque de vez en cuando intento seguir bailando. El ballet me ha aportado muchas cualidades necesarias para jugar al golf como la coordinación de movimientos, el tesón y, sobre todo, comprender que es necesario trabajar mucho y muy duro”. “El golf todavía es un deporte muy nuevo en Rusia y creo que se necesitarán por lo menos diez o quince años hasta que termine de despegar. Retamares inaugura la Jason Floyd Golf Academy El Club de Golf Retamares cuenta desde principios de junio con una de las academias de enseñanza de golf más prestigiosas, Jason Floyd Golf Academy, la tercera que se instala en España bajo la dirección de Making Golf Group, inaugurada con la presencia de su embajadora, la profesional rusa Maria Verchenova. Jason Floyd ha explicado la filosofía de sus academias y ha dado valiosos consejos a los asistentes, como que es “esencial preparar el cuerpo para jugar por lo menos diez minutos, y no ir derecho a la cancha de prácticas a pegar un Drive detrás de otro; una vez hecho esto, empezar siempre con el sandwedge dando golpes muy cortos”. Asimismo, ha expuesto que “cada persona tiene un swing diferente y se trata de encontrar el que mejor se adapte a su morfología”. La JFGA Retamares es la tercera Jason Floyd Academy que dirige Making Golf Group tras las de Illescas y Sotogrande, ésta última enfocada a jóvenes entre 11 y 17 años en programas anuales de golf, estudios y alojamiento. Floyd ha desarrollado un nivel de instrucción exclusivo y profesional basado en la calidad y el método, y pensado para cualquier jugador independientemente de su nivel.

Nicols Bell-Young, con 37 puntos fue el ganador, aunque su victoria estuvo muy reñida ya que el segundo, Barry Pillans, concluyó con la misma puntuación y Freddie Vasquez acabó en tercera posición.

Tourist Board promotes close ties between staff from nearby courses, while enabling them to enjoy a day among friends at one of the area’s many golf courses. The day ended with a lunch and prize-giving, overseen by the chairman of the Andalusian Golf Federation, Ángel de la Riva.

Gran estreno de la Flota con seis unidades
La tripulación del Swinazo vence en la I Regata Flota TOM28MAX

Un total de seis unidades participaron a mediados de junio en la primera de las regatas de la flota TOM28MAX del Real Club Marítimo de Sotogrande y Puerto de Sotogrande, lo cual constituye todo un éxito dado el poco tiempo transcurrido desde la constitución de esta Flota en diciembre del año pasado. Aunque las condiciones meteorológicas no permitieron más que la disputa de 2 pruebas con recorridos barlovento/sotavento, esta regata supuso un flamante estreno de la serie que se van a celebrar en el R.C.M. Sotogrande durante todo el año,. El flojo viento de componente sur, que nunca superó los 5 nudos y que fue cayendo y rolando a levante, obligó a las tripulaciones a concentrarse especialmente en el trimado fino y
en sacarle velocidad al barco. En la primera prueba, con salida compacta de la flota, dominada por el Brabante con Pablo Parias a la caña, que eligió la parte izquierda del campo. Los barcos más rápidos en este primer tramo, como el Arquero de Nicolás González-Deleito, el Helly Hansen Tarifa de Jesús Jiménez o el Swinazo de Borja Espinosa, se intercambiaban viradas para ir subiendo por el centro. Tomaba barlovento primero el Arquero, aunque el Swinazo demostró enseguida sus buenas prestaciones en la tempopada, llegando a la baliza de sotavento en primer lugar con bastante ventaja. Ya escaseaba el viento en el inicio de la segunda prueba, con una salida de nuevo dominada por Brabante y buscando el lado izquierdo. Arquero salía tarde y optaba en solitario por
el lado derecho del campo, pegado a la playa, lo que a la postre demostró ser la mejor opción gracias a la menor intensidad de la corriente y mayor presión de viento en esa zona. Por detrás, de nuevo Helly Tarifa y Swinazo se mostraban como los más fuertes, mientras que Brabante, Cotton Club y el barco de Rafael Orbaneja no daban con el punto de velocidad. Iba muriendo el viento de sur, lo que convirtió esta segunda ceñida en todo un ejercicio de estrategia y paciencia. Comenzaba entonces una bajada que se fue complicando a medida que el viento rolaba a levante, lo que favoreció a Arquero entrando primero con una buena ventaja sobre Swinazo, que consiguió adelantar a Helly Tarifa en la última trasluchada y asegurarse con ello la victoria en el total de la Regata.

Swinazo crew win 1st TOM28MAX Regatta A total of six vessels took part in mid-June in the first of the TOM28MAX fleet regattas held by the Royal Sailing Club of Sotogrande and Sotogrande Marina, making it a resounding success given that the fleet was only formed in December last year. Although the weather conditions meant that only two races with windward/leeward courses could be held, the regatta was a brilliant start to the series that RCM Sotogrande has organised throughout the year. The weak southerly wind, which never exceeded five knots and dropped and veered eastwards, forced the crews to focus on fine trimming and on getting as much speed as possible out of their boats. In the first race, with a com-
pact departure of the fleet, Brabante, skippered by Pablo Parias, dominated, having chosen the left side of the course. The quickest boats in this first leg, like Nicolás González-Deleito’s Arquero, Jesús Jiménez’s Helly Hansen Tarifa or Borja Espinosa’s Swinazo, swapped tacking to go through the middle. The Arquero was the first to turn windward, although Swinazo soon demonstrated its capabilities this season, reaching the leeward buoy in first place with a decent lead. The wind was in short supply by the beginning of the second race, with a start that was once again dominated by Brabante, looking for the left side. Arquero was slow to start and was the only boat to opt for the right side of the
course, running alongside the beach, but in the end this proved to be the best choice thanks the weaker current and higher wind pressure in the area. Behind them, Helly Tarifa and Swinazo once again showed that they were strongest, while Brabante, Cotton Club and Rafael Orbaneja’s boat were unable to get up to speed. The southerly wind was dying down, making the second windward section an exercise of strategy and patience. The return was made more and more difficult by the wind veering eastward, which favoured Arquero who took the lead ahead of Swinazo, who in turn managed to overtake Helly Tarifa on the last gybe and thereby clinch overall victory in the regatta.

La XVIII edición del conocido Torneo CEPSA ya está en marcha en el Club de Golf La Cañada, en el que participan 300 jugadores amateur de golf, siendo una de las competiciones más importantes de la comarca. La competición comenzó el pasado 12 de junio con la competición infantil, posteriormente se desarrolló la Competición
Adaptada, precisamente esta competición es una de las más destacadas, ya que participan los alumnos de La Cañada con discapacidades físicas y psíquicas en un mini campo de Golf construido en la calle de prácticas. La misma continuará el viernes 17 de junio, con la Competición Cepsa Senior la cual se disputará bajo la modalidad Stableford.
Y por último, el sábado 18 se celebrará la competición de Damas y Caballeros. Con esta competición, Cepsa continúa con su política de apoyo a eventos deportivos, lo cual sirve para fomentar el deporte baso, sobre todo entre los 140 niños y los 60 jugadores discapacitados que hacen del Torneo CEPSA un evento inolvidable.

La final de la I Fase del Circuito de Andalucía, disputada el pasado 4 de junio en el Club de Golf Guadalhorce, contó con la magnífica participación de 15 alumnos de La Cañada. Esta fase dió comienzo en el mes de febrero en el Club de Golf Baviera, en marzo continuó en La Cañada, en abril pasó por Golf El Puerto y en junio la final se ha disputado en el Club Guadalhorce. Durante estás pruebas se han clasificado más de un centenar jugadores repartidos en las categorí-
as benjamín, alevín, infantil, cadete, boys-girls. En cada una de las pruebas participaron 90 niños, por lo que es muy destacable que 15 niños de La Cañada, de los 500 de toda Andalucía que han participado, llegaran a la final, acompañados por el director deportivo de la escuela, Antonio Arjona. Entre ellos, algunos han conseguido ser los ganadores de su categoría, como ha sido el caso de Marta Gago en Girls, Sara García en Alevín y Pedro Marín en Benjamín.

Valle Romano acoge una nueva prueba del Club de Golf Bahía

El Club de Golf Bahía celebró a mediados de junio una nueva prueba social correspondiente al Circuito 2011. La prueba se desarrolló en las instalaciones de Valle Romano Golf, en Estepona, donde los 91 jugadores participantes disfrutaron de un clima y un campo en perfectas condiciones, lo cual ayudó a mejorar el juego de los golfistas del Club. Los asistentes coincidieron en señalar el cuidado especial que tiene este campo por parte de sus trabajadores, lo que sin duda ayuda a que
Valle Romano sea el lugar ideal para esta práctica deportiva. Tras el juego se procedió a la entrega de premios, correspondiendo a Julio Alcaide el primer puesto en primera categoría, en segunda el ganador fue Carlos del Campo, y por último, en tercera categoría el vencedor fue Gabriel Baena. Además se entregaron premios a la bola más cercana, que correspondió a Francisco Periales, al drive más largo que consiguió Andrés Lara, a la mejor dama que fue María Luisa Ruiz y al mejor scratch que fue para Daniel Palma.

The tournament took place at Valle Romano Golf in Estepona, where the 91 participating players enjoyed perfect weather and course conditions, helping the club’s golfers to improve their play.

Tras ocho meses de entrenamientos y partidos amistosos, los más de 30 jugadores que asistieron semanalmente a las sesiones, dijeron adiós hasta el próximo mes de octubre. Con sus iniciati-
vas de equipos en liga y partidos amistosos, Arsenal Soccer Schools España sigue avanzando en su desarrollo de forma positiva y cuenta ya con más de 350 alumnos. otro en Soria. La concentración comenzará en un par de semanas y se extenderá hasta finales de julio con el fin de preparar los dos equipos que representarán a la escuela en dichos torneos. Con entrenamientos semanales y partidos amistosos, los entrenadores pretenden preparar a sus jugadores tanto física como técnicamente para deleitar con su buen juego de equipo. who attended the sessions every week said farewell until October. With their league initiatives and friendly matches, the Arsenal Soccer Schools España continue to make progress in their development in a positive manner, and
they already have over 350 students. The youngsters starting their training will be the cadetes and juveniles who have been selected to travel this summer to the two tournaments that the school is ta-

Pre-tournament preparation will begin in a couple of weeks time and will continue until late July in order to get the two teams ready to represent the school in these tournaments. With weekly training sessions and friendly matches, the coaches are aiming to prepare their players both physically and technically so they can entertain on-
lookers with some great team play. Following their excellent performance last summer in the two tournaments they took part in, reaching the semifinals in the Arsenal Soccer Festival in England and becoming champions in the Copa Duero in Soria, the sides are hoping to continue their winning streak in August and achieve good results in both events.

La primera edición de la Straits Cup se ha celebrado con un éxito rotundo de buen juego y magnifico desarrollo del fútbol que Arsenal Soccer Schools España promueve e inculca a sus alumnos. Los jóvenes chicos que han participado por primera vez en este torneo, y que además jugaban sus primeros partidos en un campo de fútbol 11, han desarrollado un fútbol de mu-
cha calidad y vistosas jugadas adaptándose muy bien a las dimensiones del terreno de juego que en este caso podría haber sido un gran dificultad para ellos dado el cambio de dimensiones. Con la participación de Lions FC (Gibraltar), Arsenal Soccer Schools España, UD Castellar y el conjunto inglés Ulverston Rangers FC y tras 3 días de partidos, el conjunto local de
la UD Castellar se alzó con el trofeo al salir invicto de todos sus encuentros. Como todos los eventos que organiza la escuela española del Arsenal, el juego limpio y la deportividad estuvieron presentes por parte de los equipos participantes, siendo todos dignos rivales y destacando un buen fútbol que es y seguirá siendo el lema de Arsenal Soccer Schools España.

Sotogrande Hípica celebró el pasado fin de semana del 4 y 5 de junio una nueva competición del concurso social de saltos y las pruebas de técnica y estilo, así como un concurso territorial de salto de obstáculos. Durante estas competiciones, los jinetes se enfrentaron a pruebas de barras y cruzadas, así como de técnica y estilo. En ellas, los jinetes alevines, infantiles, juveniles, jóvenes y adultos pudieron demostrar su destreza sobre el caballo. Del fin de semana de compe-
ticiones, además de la alta participación, hay que destacar la excelente actuación de los Jinetes del Club Sotogrande Hípica que ocuparon las primeras pociones en muchas de las pruebas de los dos días, como ejemplo de ello cabe resaltar la actuación de Almudena Martín de Oliva, Chanel Foster, Gabriela Mate, Max Schot, Francine Pons y Enma Wahlstrom. Aunque la partición fue muy buena en todas las pruebas, Sotogrande Hípica destaca el impulso que ha supuesto para el Pony Club la nueva incorporación de la
monitora Cristina Hernaiz, que ha ilusionado a los mas pequeños, consiguiendo el debut en la pruebas de Palos y Cruzadas de mas de 30 nuevos jinetes y amazonas que dan su primeros pasos en el mundo de la competición hípica. Con ejemplos como este, se demuestra que se está consiguiendo el objetivo del club, dar a conocer al mayor numero de jinetes menores este apasionante deporte que mantiene a los niños en contacto directo con la naturaleza y de unos de los seres vivos que mas emociones aportan a los deportistas.

Sapphire se alza con el Torneo Santa María y Andrés Parlade

El equipo Sapphire resultó ganador del Torneo Santa María que culminó el pasado 5 de junio en las canchas de Río del Santa María Polo Club. El cuarteto, compuesto por Juan Ramón Gil, Sergio Ariel, Mario Gómez y Laurence Isola, derrotó a La Quinta por 8 a 6 en la final del torneo. Durante el encuentro, Sapphire tomó rápidamente las riendas del mismo gracias a un gran trabajo ofensivo liderado por Mario Gómez. Ésta actuación le permitió sacar una amplia ventaja en el marcador (llegó a estar arriba por 7 a 1) lo que pareció darle tranquilidad durante el resto del encuentro. Pero la formación de La Quinta no se dio por vencida y reaccionó pronto, consiguiendo reducir la ventaja, lo que ayudó a dar emoción en los últimos compases del encuentro. La reacción final de La Quinta fue bien controlada en el último chucker por Sapphire que finalmente se llevó el merecido triunfo por 8 a 6. El torneo Santa María lo disputaron los equipos La
Quinta, Sapphire y Silex, los tres con 5 goles de hándicap. Parlade Sapphire se consagró campeón del Torneo Memorial Andrés Parladé que se disputó una semana después en las canchas de Río del Santa María Polo Club. El equipo integrado por Koke Calleja, José Simo, Mario Gómez y Lawrence Isola derrotó en la final a Edelweiss por un ajustado 3 a 2. El bajo tanteador refleja la paridad que tuvo el decisivo encuentro. Ambos equipos trabajaron de forma efectiva en lo defensivo y se cerraron mutuamente los caminos del gol. Sapphire fue más efectivo en este sentido al aprovechar las pocas situaciones de gol que se generaron en el encuentro. Culminaron igualados dos de los cuatro chuckers disputados y la escasa renta de un gol que consiguió Sapphire sobre el final del tercer período fue muy bien cuidada hasta el final del partido. La Copa Subsidiaria correspondió a La Quinta que derrotó 9 a 6 a La Guardia. En este torneo participaron cuatro equipos de entre 2 y 5 goles de handicap.

The Santa María Tournament involved La Quinta, Sapphire and Silex, all three teams with five-goal handicaps. Andres Parlade Sapphire were crowned champions of the Memorial Andrés Parlade Tournament held on Santa María Polo Club’s Río fields. The team made up of Koke Calleja, José Simo, Mario Gómez and Laurence Isola defeated Edelweiss in the final by a close
3 goals to 2. The low score-line reflected the parity of this deciding match. Both teams were effective in defence and closed off each other’s paths to the goal. Sapphire was more successful in terms of taking advantage of the small number of goal-scoring opportunities available in the match. They finished two of the four chukkas that were played with the scores level and Sapphire jealously protected their scant onegoal lead obtained in the third period until the end of the game. The Subsidiary Cup was won by La Quinta, who defeated La Guardia by 9 goals to 6. Four teams with handicaps of two to five goals took part in this tournament.

Calderilla para el pepino Calderilla. Eso es lo que Bruselas quiere que el agricultor español recoja tras la crisis del pepino. Una crisis que ha originado que sólo al día se retiren 10 millones de kilos de producto en Andalucía. Ya va casi un mes de pérdidas en el campo andaluz, pérdidas que no sólo se reflejan en lo que se ha retirado sino en lo que ya no se tira pero se vende a precios de ruina para el agricultor. Con la que
está cayendo, el fondo de compensación previsto de 210 millones no solo es ridículo, sino que excluye a numerosos productos que también se han visto perjudicados. Para COAG, el sistema propuesto por la UE beneficia a los productores centroeuropeos que empiezan ahora la campaña. Es primordial que ante una situación excepcional como ésta
se reconozcan las particularidades de aquellos sitios donde se han producido los daños. Por esto, es necesario que la UE valore que España, el principal país productor de frutas y hortalizas es también el primer perjudicado.
