Buen camino y mejores propósitos El final de cada año suele estar ligado a los mismos pensamientos un calendario tras otro, una experiencia ya crónica en la que a medida que menos resta para la conclusión del mes de diciembre aumenta inversamente la cantidad de propósitos y de intenciones a cambiar cara a la entrada de un nuevo ejercicio, tanto en lo personal como en lo comercial y profesional. Hablar de este año 2013 como el de la recuperación o el inicio de ésta, es cuando menos atrevido y en algunos casos hasta incierto. Pero no cabe la menor duda de que durante este curso hemos visto como ciertos sectores y apartados que parecían adormecidos se han ido levantando y comienzan a ver como las intenciones y proyectos acaban tomando forma y se convierten en movimiento real. Si analizamos los datos y previsiones cara al 2014 que está a punto de llegar, en motores tan fuertes en Sotogrande como son el inmobiliario, hotelero o el turismo deportivo de lujo, son todas de tendencia positiva y con un enorme carácter de crecimiento. No hay motivo para ser pesimista y mucho menos encaminarse a esa dirección. Potenciar lo que se tiene y difundir las cualidades de la zona, son requerimientos necesarios para recoger los

frutos. La mirada al 2014 debe ser de empuje, con todo lo trabajo este año. Por otro lado, el final del año también conlleva estar inmersos en Navidad, un tiempo llamado de “compartir” tradicionalmente. La importancia del compartir toma especialmente fuerza en estas fechas y si alguna vez ha tenido sentido está ligado más que nunca a estos complicados tiempos en los que muchas familias de la zona se ven en situaciones difíciles y premia la solidaridad. Es de reconocer la gran labor que están llevando a cabo numerosos vecinos de la zona con la organización de campañas e iniciativas para la recogida de alimentos, ropas y otros bienes que harán pasar un poco más llevaderas las fiestas a estas familias. Aunque hay que recordar que organismos como Cáritas o el Banco de Alimentos del Campo de Gibraltar trabajan todo el año en este aspecto y el apoyo de la ciudadanía debe extenderse proporcionalmente también. Nos espera un apasionante año a la vuelta de la esquina y cómo no, Grupo HCP ya trabaja con innovaciones y nuevas metas para dar la mejor información y el servicio a sus lectores. ¡Feliz Navidad y próspero año nuevo!

The end of the year always brings about the same thoughts, an inevitable situation in which, as the end of December approaches, the good intentions for the new year increase, both personally and in business and professional terms. Speaking about 2013 as the year of recovery or the beginning of it, is at the very least bold and in some cases untrue. But there is no doubt that in this past year we have seen certain sectors and segments that seemed to have gone to sleep making a reappearance and seeing how intentions and projects are finally taking shape and becoming something real. If we analyse the data and forecasts for 2014 in Sotogrande driving forces such as the property, hotel and luxury sport tourism sectors, they are all positive and showing huge potential for growth. There is no reason to be pessimistic. We must leverage what we have and publicise the qualities of the area in order to reap the rewards. Our approach to 2014 must be

positive, with all the hard work we have done this year. The end of the year also means enjoying Christmas, traditionally a time to "share". The importance of sharing is especially strong at this time of year and it has never been more important than it is now at this difficult time, when many families in the area are in difficult situations and solidarity is essential. A large number of local residents are doing some great work organising campaigns and initiatives to collect food, clothing and other goods that will make the festive season more bearable for these families. Organisations like Caritas and the Campo de Gibraltar food bank are working all year round to help these people and the public must also do what they can within their means. We have an exciting year ahead of us and, of course, HCP Group is already working on innovations and new goals to provide better information and improve its service for its readers. Carta del director Termina el año del que nadie quería hablar: 2013, y le damos la bienvenida al 2014 con entusiasmo Todos recordamos como el pasado año por estas fechas, nadie hablaba o no estaba dentro de los planes de ninguna empresa o administración hablar del 2013. Era como mentar situaciones complicadas o bien era no pensar en un futuro halagüeño. Pues bien, que razón tenían, porque vaya año que hemos superado, donde muchas cosas cambiaron, y de qué manera. Lo único positivo que sacamos es que parece ser que hemos tocado fondo y se percibe un leve repunte, pero que existen muchas posibilidades de que el 2014 sea un año mas próspero y de futuro, sin necesidad de tener que llegar a la locura vivida en la década del dos mil. Aun así todo el mundo sigue con mucha precaución la evolución de los mercados, de la banca, de la bolsa, de las grandes empresas y de todo índice que se precie para vislumbrar el futuro. Porque una cosa si ha quedado clara, ahora resulta que los supervivientes a esta espeluznante crisis, están mucho mas preparados, saben digerir los informes de los especialistas, manejan los presupuestos con inteligencia, estudian cada acción que van a llevar a cabo, en definitiva en la pequeña y mediana empresa se actúa con mayor profesionalidad y mas previsión. Lo único que falta es la financiación, que lamentablemente a la banca de este país le preocupa muy poco. Y si me apuran, ellos solo vieron oportunidades en esta época y sí sanearon con un proceso muy atípico, ya que se permitieron incluso aumentar sus ganancias. Y sus lamentables negocios provenientes del ladrillo, se la traspasaron al banco malo y todos listos para continuar metiendo la mano en los bolsillos de los ciudadanos y pequeños empresarios con las condiciones salvajes en la contraprestación de servicios. Y estas empresas miran como sus proyectos de expansión, o simplemente man-

tener su estatus, se ven asfixiados sus perspectivas por falta del elemento fundamental como es el dinero. The year that nobody wants to talk about, 2013, is over, and we welcome 2014 with enthusiasm We can all remember how at this time last year, nobody was talking about 2013 and no company or government had 2013 in their plans. It was like mentioning a delicate issue or perhaps an unwillingness to think of a brighter future. Well they were right, because what a year we have had, with a great deal of change, and in quite a manner. The only positive thing we can take from it is that it looks like we have reached the bottom and a slight upturn can be felt. There is a good chance that 2014 will be a more prosperous year that bodes well for the future, without the need to return to the insanity of the turn of the century. Even so, everyone is carefully following the evolution of the markets, the banks, the stock exchange, the major corporations every possible index to try to discern the future. Because one thing has become clear now: the survivors of this terrible crisis are much better prepared, they know how to digest the specialists' reports, they handle budgets intelligently, they thoroughly assess each action they are going to carry out; all in all small and medium-sized enterprises are behaving more professionally and with more foresight. The only thing that's lacking is finance, which regrettably the banks of this country care little about. And if you ask me, they only saw opportunities in this time of crisis and if they have restructured in a very unusual way, enabling them even to increase their profits. And their lamentable property-based transactions have been passed on to a "bad bank" so that everyone is ready to keep

squeezing the public and small businesses with outrageous conditions for the provision of their services. And these companies see their expansion projects, or their ability simply to maintain their status quo, are suffocated by a lack of an essential element: cash. Enough is enough, funds must start reaching the business sector, because until that happens, they can continue to make the unemployment figures look pretty but we know that those who are prepared to create jobs are the same as ever: trade and the small and medium-sized enterprises. The big corporations packed their bags and went overseas for their big projects and to continue growing, which is all good, seeing how everything Spanish is spreading around the world and innovating. This country will grow again and then they will be ready to get the cash flowing again, but meanwhile the business sector which sustains the economy of the state is fading from so having to endure so many adversities. 2014 must be, and will be, the year of light at the end of the tunnel. Because our imagination and perseverance make us stronger and more competitive. Here in our area, we are all aware of that it is time to work together, if possible more united than ever, it is a time for synergy. Let's stop playing the national sport of envy and despair, it's time to be innovative and creative, pushing forward everything that is great about this country. La promoción de Sotogrande, y de San Roque por extensión, como destino privilegiado para la práctica del golf, y la divulgación de todos los atractivos turísticos fueron los dos objetivos primordiales a difundir por los representantes de los campos de la zona y de los técnicos de Turismo de San Roque, desplazados a Tarragona para asistir al International Golf Travel Market (IGTM). Uno de los datos más positivos, tras los contactos, fue constatar que la afluencia de visitantes prevista para 2014 será mayor que la de este año. La teniente de alcalde delegada de Turismo, Dolores Marchena, así

lo resalta tras valorar la presencia en la feria. “En lo referente al turismo de golf, 2014 será mejor para San Roque que 2013. Así se desprende de los contactos que han realizado los campos de golf sanroqueños asistentes a la feria de Tarragona, así como de las impresiones que han trasladado a nuestra técnico los profesionales con los que se ha entrevistado”, detalló. “La llegada de este tipo de turistas de nivel adquisitivo medio/alto no solo beneficia a los campos de golf y a los hoteles, sino también a restaurantes, tiendas y otros servicios”, subraya. “Hay que destacar que los turistas británicos y alema-

nes, principalmente, valoran mucho la zona turística sanroqueña por su proximidad a aeropuertos, por la disponibilidad de servicios de calidad y por el alto nivel de nuestros campos de golf”, afirma Marchena. “El Ayuntamiento representó a todos los campos de golf del municipio: Alcaidesa, Almenara y San Roque Club, los tres presentes en la feria, pero también al Real Club de Golf de Sotogrande, La Reserva, La Cañada y Valderrama”, explicó. Añadir que campos como San Roque Club, Almenara o Alcaidesa estuvieron presentes en la feria con stand propio también.

The two key objectives of the San Roque tourism staff that travelled to Tarragona to be a part of the International Golf Travel Market (IGTM) were to publicise Sotogrande and San Roque as the ideal destination for golf lovers and to promote the wide variety of tourist attractions in the area. One of the most positive outcomes, apart from the large number of contacts made at the event, was finding out that the predicted number of visitors to Sotogrande for 2014 is significantly higher than this year. Dolores Marchena, councillor for tourism, highlighted this fact after visiting the fair. Marchena said, “as far as golf is concerned, 2014 looks set to be a better year for San Roque than 2013. This is the information coming from the San Roque golf clubs after the Tarragona fair, as well being

the impression we have received from the professionals we have talked to”. Marchena pointed out that “the arrival of tourists with a medium to high level of purchasing power doesn’t just benefit the golf clubs and hotels; it is also good news for the restaurants, shops and other services”. “British and German tourists especially value the area for its proximity to the airport, for the superior services on offer and for our excellent golf courses” she added. “All the municipal golf courses were represented by the town hall at the fair: Alcaidesa, Almenara and the San Roque Club. The Real Club de Golf de Sotogrande, La Reserva, La Cañada and Valderrama were also present.” San Roque Club, Almenara and Alcaidesa also had their own stands at the event.

International Golf Travel Market (IGTM) Cerca de 1.200 profesionales de este sector (operadores, responsables de campos, proveedores o periodistas) de 65 países asistieron a la XVI Internacional Golf Travel Market (IGTM), que se celebró entre el 11 y el 14 de noviembre en el Centro de Convenciones de PortAventura (Salou, Tarragona). La feria consistió en una serie de jornadas técnicas y exposiciones, donde los diferentes destinos de golf muestran su oferta. Está considerada la feria de turismo de golf más importante del mundo. Cada año tiene lugar en un país distinto. Close to 1,200 professionals from the sector (tour operators, golf club representatives, suppliers and journalists) from 65 different countries were present at the XVI International Golf Travel Market (IGTM) that took place between November 11 and 14 in the convention centre in Port Aventura (Salou, Tarragona). The fair comprised a series of industry seminars and exhibitions, where the different golf destinations presented what they have to offer. It is widely considered to be the most important golf tourism fair in the world, taking place in a different country every year.

La presentación de la Academia se llevó a cabo en las canchas de Río de Santa María Polo Club. Alumnos, padres y autoridades del Sotogrande International

School (SIS) y Santa María Polo asistieron a la presentación de SIPA que contó con una exhibición de polo en la cual participaron alumnos del SIS. La Academia de Polo estará abierta a niños de 10 a 18 años, con niveles que van desde principiantes hasta avanzados y está diseñado para hacer que el juego del polo sea accesible, asequible, seguro y divertido. Todos los estudiantes serán entrenados en pequeños grupos por profesores de gran experiencia y con el equipo de segu-

School taking part. This Academy will be open to children aged 10 to 18, from beginners to advanced, and is designed to make the game accessible, affordable, safe and fun. All students will be coached in small groups by highly experienced teachers and provided with full safety equipment. As well as introducing children to the game it will also be a platform to empower the very best players to compete on the International stage as part of their Elite Squad.

Entidad Urbanística de Conservación

La Entidad intesifica los trabajos contra la plaga del picudo rojo Desde la EUC Parques de Sotogrande, se informa que al igual que en años anteriores, en el período comprendido entre finales de verano y mediados de otoño, se ha producido un aumento de la actividad del picudo rojo ( Rhynchophorus ferrugineus) en las palmeras de la urbanización. Esta situación se ha prolongado algo más este año debido a que las temperaturas post-verano han sido más altas de lo habitual, provocando mayores niveles reproductivos en los insectos y provocando mayores incidencias en las palmeras. En prevención a dicha situación, desde hace unos meses, el equipo técnico de la Entidad ha reforzado los trabajos de revisión y tratamiento manteniendo las incidencias en niveles sostenibles a diferencia de lo que viene aconteciendo en otras zonas. En la actualidad están apareciendo noticias de como importantes palmerales (

principalmente afectando a ejemplares de la especie canaria ) de diferentes puntos de España se están viendo afectados por esta plaga, como ocurre en ciudades como Córdoba, Málaga o Palma de Mallorca. Para seguir consiguiendo buenos resultados en Sotogrande y en la búsqueda de minimizar los efectos de una plaga que por el momento no es posible erradicar por completo, se solicita de todos los propietarios la máxima colaboración teniendo en cuenta que cualquier desatención a nivel particular, pone en riesgo al resto de ejemplares de la urbanización, por la facilidad de movimientos de los insectos de unas palmeras a otras. El equipo técnico de la Entidad está a la entera disposición de cualquier propietario que tenga dudas sobre los tratamientos a aplicar tanto para asesorar en materias técnicas ( aportando los

programas de tratamiento ) como para valorar los presupuestos que pudieran haber recibido, para evitar que los precios de los mismos sean elevados. La EUC continúa aplicando, en las palmeras canarias de las zonas comunes de la urbanización, un programa de tratamiento preventivo basado en aplicaciones foliares cada cuarenta y cinco días, alternando diferentes materias activas a lo largo del año. Es fundamental que los propietarios en cuyos jardines haya ejemplares de palmeras Canarias, realicen con rigor los tratamientos ( cada 45 días ) par asegurar la prevención y sanidad de sus ejemplares y evitar el contagio al resto de palmeras de la urbanización. Es tarea de todos preservar el magnífico palmeral de sotogrande compuesto por más de 10.000 palmeras, entre las ubicadas en jardines privados y zonas comunes (3.500 ).

Recogida de forraje Desde la EUC se recuerda que para garantizar la eficacia del servicio de recogida de restos vegetales depositados fuera del contenedor verde, es necesario que dichos restos estén atados formando montones, para evitar el esparcimiento de los mismos en su recogida. El Valle del Guadiaro se ha implicado de una manera especial cara las próximas fiestas, aunque cabe destacar que también lo mantiene y da fe de ello durante el resto del año, en fomentar multitud de campañas e iniciativas de carácter solidario para ayudar a las personas más necesitadas, que en los tiempos que corren por desgracia no son pocos. Una amplia serie de actividades destinadas a la recogida de alimentos para todas estas personas, una práctica cada vez más de afincada que sustituye al tradicional donativo con el que habitualmente se solidarizaban los vecinos. Práctica que a la vista de resultados es mucho más efectiva visto el asombro de kilos de alimentos imperecederos que se acaban recopilando en conexión directa y colaboración con dos organismos básicos en estas labores como son el Banco de Alimentos del Campo de Gibraltar y Cáritas Parroquial. A lo largo de todo el mes de diciembre, y con anterioridad en las últimas semanas de noviembre, se vienen llevando a cabo estas actividades por diferentes asociaciones y llama especialmente la atención que sin necesidad de éstas, fruto de

Supercor y Lidl) en el que más de 50 vecinos de la zona, ejerciendo de voluntarios, estuvieron todo el día en dichas superficies recogiendo alimentos para llevarlos al Banco de Alimentos del Campo de Gibraltar. que a medida que los iban encontrando a la entrada de los establecimientos recogían una bolsa especial y en ella depositaban los alimentos con los que colaborar con la causa. Dicho sea de paso, en Navidad parece que es aún un poco más fácil ayudar aunque en la situación actual, no son pocas las personas que de una manera u otra colaboran en todo lo posible. Otra de estas iniciativas, de carácter más internacional y demostrando la solidaridad de la zona con una comunidad tan característica de Sotogrande, como es la filipina, también se llevó a cabo una campaña de recogida de alimentos y ropa para los afectados y víctimas del tifón que atizó recientemente al país. Con unos resultados más que favorables y con el que todos los vecinos de la zona colaboraron y aportaron su granito de arena. En Guadiaro, también se han llevado diferentes actividades de recogida e inclusos mercadillos benéficos para contribuir con la causa en todo lo posible, siendo protagonistas también los propios colegios de la zona con diferentes campañas benéficas tanto de alimentos como de mercadillos con artesanías. Así como en Puerto Sotogrande, donde también se lleva a cabo la recogida.

Otra de las señas que se pueden encontrar en estos días y que hasta el próximo día 20 estará en marcha será la organizada por la Universidad Popular de San Roque través del Programa Municipal de

Garantía Alimentaria, para familias necesitadas de todo el municipio. Es por ello que se han instalado tres mesas en sendos centros de la UP en San Roque Casco, donde monitores, alumnos y cualquier ciuda-

dano puede depositar la comida hasta el próximo día 20. En Torreguadiaro, la Asociación de Mujeres La Charca también se encuentre inmersa en esta campaña que de manera habitual lleva a cabo

para colaborar con las personas que más lo necesitan. Tanto en la asociación, a través de sus miembros o en el Centro de Día de Torreguadiaro, otro de los puntos en los que se puede depositar alimentos por parte de los vecinos o de cualquier persona que quiera colaborar, se mantiene esta iniciativa. Por mencionar hasta otro sector que está implicado, incluso el deportivo, de la mano del CD Guadiaro, en su partido como local ante el CD Cañorrera, realizó la conocida ‘Operación kilo’ para que todos los aficionados y asistentes al encuentro contribuyeran de la manera más cómoda, como es aportar un alimento imperecedero. Estas son sólo algunas de las muestras que encontramos en el Valle del Guadiaro en estos días aunque son muchos los vecinos y asociaciones que están volcadas en colaborar con las personas necesitadas, una conciencia ciudadana activa y conocedora del difícil momento que atraviesan muchas familias y con la solidaridad de ayudar a los demás. Aún no se puede hablar de kilos totales de la campaña, ya que en su mayoría siguen en marcha pero sin duda, las cotas serán enormes y al nivel de la gran apuesta de la comunidad.

Guadiaro Valley embraces food collection schemes Throughout the month local residents have been involved in various campaigns and activities to collect food for the most disadvantaged, an initiative shared with the rest of the municipality that has been extremely well received. The Guadiaro Valley has got involved in a special way for the festive season, although of course it does so all year round, in the promotion of a large number of charity campaigns and initiatives to help those most in need, of whom in the current climate, regrettably, there are many. A wide range of activities aimed at collecting food for all of these people, a practice that is increasingly taking root in place of the traditional donations made by with which local residents show their solidarity. It is a practice that, seeing the results, is much more effective, with an astonishing quantity of non-perishable food being collected directly and in conjunction with two organisations that carry out this work: the Campo de Gibraltar Food Bank and CĂĄritas Parroquial. Throughout the month of December, and beforehand in late November, various associations have been organising these activities, and what has particularly caught the attention is that, without the need for these, local residents of the Guadiaro Valley have been organising their own collections through various events in which they have acted as volunteers. A good example of his was the charity scheme taking place at the three major supermarkets in the area (Mercadona, Supercor and Lidl), where over 50 local residents, acting as volunteers, spent the whole day collecting goods to take to the Campo de Gibraltar Food Bank. The initiative was welcome with open arms by all in the Guadiaro Valley, who were given a special bag at the entrance to the supermarkets in which they placed the food they wishes to donate to the cause. It seems like it is a little easier to find help at Christmas, but in the current climate, there are plenty of people who one way or another help as much as they can.

As part of another of these initiatives, of a more international nature and demonstrating the solidarity of the area with a community that has close ties to Sotogrande, the Philippines, a campaign was launched to collect food and clothing for victims of the typhoon that recently hit the country. The results were extremely positive and all the area's residents contributed and did their bit. Various collection activities were organised in Guadiaro, alongside charity markets to contribute to the cause as much as possible. The local schools played a central role with various charity campaigns both with food collections and craft markets. The collection took place at Sotogrande Marina. Another initiative currently underway, which will continue until 20 December, is being organised by the San Roque People's University (UP) through the Municipal Food Guarantee Scheme, for families in need throughout the

municipality. Three tables were set up at each of the UP's centres, where instructors, students and any members of the public can leave food up until 20 December. In Torreguadiaro, the La

Charca Women's Association is involved in this campaign, which it always participates in to help those most in need. Both at the association, through its members, or at the Torreguadiaro Day Centre,

another location where food can be left by local residents or anyone wanting to contribute, this initiative is being maintained. Even sport has got involved, with CD Guadiaro, in their local match against CD CaĂąorrera, organising the famous "Operation Kilo" initiative, so that all their supporters and spectators could contribute in the most convenient way, providing nonperishable food. These are just some of the examples in the Guadiaro Valley in recent days, though many local residents and associations are engaged in helping people in need, of an active public awareness of the difficult time that many families are going through and having the solidarity to help others. It is still too early to know how many kilos of food were collected, because most of the schemes are still underway, but without doubt the quantities will be huge, on a par with the level of commitment shown in the community.

Valle de Guadiaro sobre estas iniciativas, así como algunos de los responsables municipales con repercusión en la zona o que estén inmersos en fomentar estas campañas.

Gran éxito de la VII Jornada Micológica de San Roque, celebrada en la Finca La Alcaidesa. En la apertura de la jornada estuvieron presentes los tenientes de alcalde delegados de Presidencia, José Antonio Rojas, y de Medio Ambiente, José Vera, así como el gerente de Promosport&Ocio, Jesús Aranda, y el ponente de este año, Pablo Blanco. Aranda presentó a Pablo Blanco, ingeniero de montes, miembro de la Asociación de Amigos del Parque de los Alcornocales y conocedor de la materia desde hace unos ocho años. Blanco advirtió que no

entraría en explicaciones muy técnicas, ya que la mayoría de los participantes lo hacen en familia y no cuentan con grandes conocimientos del tema. En lugar de ello, se centró en aspectos prácticos, como explicar que las setas no son más que los cuerpos fructíferos (algo similar a las flores) de los hongos, que se encuentran principalmente bajo tierra. También aportó algunos trucos básicos sobre la recogida, transporte y consumo de estos productos y, sobre todo, describió las setas más comunes en el Parque de los Alcornocales, tanto las comestibles, como las

no comestibles en crudo, las peligrosas y otras, que por su abundancia o distintas características, resultan muy llamativas. La jornada continuó con un sendero didáctico para la identificación y recolección de hongos, con el acompañamiento de monitores y guías. The 7th San Roque Mushroom Festival, held at Finca La Alcaidesa went off with a huge success. The opening session was attended by deputy mayor José Antonio Rojas and deputy councillor for Environment José Vera, as well as the manager of Promosport&Ocio, Jesús Aranda, and this year's presenter, Pablo Blanco. Diez minutos antes de las once de la noche, se registró un seísmo de magnitud 3, con epicentro en el mar, al sureste la vecina localidad de Manilva, y con dos kilómetros de profundidad. El temblor se notó, además, en otras muchas localidad del

Campo de Gibraltar como Torreguadiaro, Guadiaro, Tesorillo o Jimena. El miedo a una réplica mayor y la desconfianza hizo que muchos se mantuvieran alerta y que, algunos, incluso, salieran a las calles asustados. Según el servicio de emergencias, no fueron registrados daños materiales ni personales.

El fin de ETA Sinceramente creo que estamos asistiendo al momento histórico de la desaparición defi-nitiva de la organización terrorista ETA. Dependiendo de la edad que cada uno de los lectores tenga, su apreciación sobre el conflicto será diferente. En mi caso particular, los actos de la organización terrorista me han acompañado durante toda mi vida por lo que su desaparición realmente constituye un evento muy importante. Es cierto que la aguda crisis económica que estamos padeciendo ha difuminado un poco el proceso de liquida-ción de la ETA pero, precisamente por ese motivo, quiero dedicar estas líneas al proceso. No me cabe la menor duda que la desaparición de la llamada doctrina "parot" fué pre-viamente negociada por el anterior Gobierno socialista y mantenida por el actual Gobierno del PP. Y desde mi punto de vista ha sido una jugada genial en la estrategia de la lucha contra ETA. La clave de la maniobra ha sido que el Gobierno de la Nación no ha perdido la "cara" ni, aparentemente, ha negociado nada con la banda terrorista; sino que ha sido un Tribunal Europeo nada menos el que ha tomado la decisión de poner en la calle a los peores terroristas que estaban en las cárceles españolas. Es cierto que la decisión adoptada por el Tribunal es irreprochable desde el punto de vista jurídico porque no se puede aplicar la Ley retroactivamente. También es cierto que ha habido otros países europeos que no han ejecutado sentencias dictadas por el mismo Tribunal. Pero, en cualquier caso, al Gobierno español y, en general a todo el pueblo español, le convenía la aplicación de la Sentencia para poner punto y final a la aventura terrorista. Por mucho que duela, en algún

momento hay que terminar con todo esto. Muchas veces las llamadas "razones de Estado" llevan a tomar decisiones desagradables pero que en su conjunto y a la larga suponen la mejor elección para el futuro de un país.

Como en cualquier decisión de este tipo, queda el truculento problema de las víctimas que debiera ser tratado con el máximo cariño y delicadeza por parte de las autoridades. No sé si se está haciendo lo suficiente a este respecto pero, en cualquier caso, todo lo que se haga será poco. De lo que a mí no me cabe duda alguna es que el camino emprendido es el correcto siempre y cuando las víctimas del terrorismo se sientan amparadas y queridas. Además el Gobierno no se ha plegado hasta ahora al resto de las demandas de los terroristas aunque alguien pueda pensar lo contrario al haberse legalizado algún que otro partido nacionalista vasco. Yo soy de los que opinan que la integración en el sistema democrático de una organiza-ción política sea cual sea su origen, únicamente puede contribuir a la "civilización" de dicha organización y a su integración en la convivencia pacífica democrática del país. Espero y deseo que el tiempo me dé la razón.

El grupo Municipal de Unidad por San Roque (USR) manifestó su desencanto a la política de inversiones y de prioridades de la Junta de Andalucía en materia de salud pública y por su “rechazo a continuar las obras del nuevo Hospital de La Línea que, como todos saben, afecta directamente a los usuarios del municipio de San Roque, en el que somos tratados los sanroqueños”. La Consejería de la Junta de Andalucía anunció que no reaunidará por el momento las obras

del nuevo hospital comarcal. “Con ello, la Junta de Andalucía, su Presidenta Susana Díaz, el PSOE en el Campo de Gibraltar y muy concretamente en La Línea y San Roque quedan totalmente desacreditados, seguimos en manos de las ya antiguas y deficientes instalaciones del actual Hospital público de la zona y que afecta a una población de mas 150.000 habitantes”, según USR. El grupo político lamentó “la actitud de los parlamentarios socialistas del Campo de

Gibraltar, que deberían preocuparse mas por el presente y el futuro de la salud de los ciudadanos de la comarca, así como del Sub-Delegado de la Junta de Andalucía en el Campo de Gibraltar”, comentó.

Las dependencias municipales de Pueblo Nuevo, conocidas como las antiguas casas de los maestros del Colegio Gloria Fuertes, acogieron un Taller de Risoterapia organizado por la Delegación Municipal de Juventud, dentro de la programación del Área Joven 2013. El taller de risoterapia se imparte en grupo, ya que uno de sus objetivos es desinhibir a sus participantes de manera progresiva y fomentar las relaciones entre las personas. Para ello se utilizan distintos juegos, obteniendo los alumnos finalmente una sensación de relax que no solo beneficia

su estado de ánimo, sino también su salud personal. El edil del Valle del Guadiaro, Juan Roca, explicó que “en el Valle del Guadiaro necesitábamos edificios municipales, y después de la rehabilitación con fondos del Plan E que se ha llevado a cabo aquí, contamos con unas instalaciones que ya estamos empezando a usar para distintas cosas, como para este taller de risoterapia”, sobre el edificio. “Ya se está impartiendo un taller de cerámica de la Universidad Popular, y una de las alas se ha cedido al colegio para que tengan su biblioteca, que ya está casi terminada”, subrayó.

Los pilares del Dólar se tambalean « Era de noche y caía la lluvia; y al caer era lluvia, pero era sangre una vez caída.» Estas palabras de Edgar Allan Poe se aplican a las mil maravillas al lento proceso de desarticulación mundial actual, en el que acontecimientos en apariencia anodinos (« la lluvia ») se combinan para socavar las bases del sistema internacional que está muriendo ( « sangre »). Si este proceso es lento, si los acontecimientos pueden parecer anodinos es, paradójicamente, porque la crisis actual es la primera crisis sistémica verdaderamente mundial: mucho más profunda que la de ́ cleo del sistema. La de 1929, afecta a todos los países y trastoca al nu 1929 fue una crisis de adolescencia de la nueva potencia mundial, ́ ltimos días de Estados Unidos, pero con la de hoy estamos viviendo los u un condenado, y este condenado es la superpotencia que conocemos desde el 1945. Al haberse edificado la organización mundial alrededor de Estados Unidos, nadie tiene interés que se derrumbe antes de haberse desacoplado totalmente de él. Todos pretenden liberarse suavemente guardando las apariencias habituales con el fin de asegurar una transición sin sobresaltos, ello explica la lentitud con que se desarrolla la caída. Es algo así como esos padres que intentan dejar la habitación de su bebé de puntillas para evitar que se despierte y el bebé vuelve a berrear: el bebé es el do ́lar, y los padres son indignos ya que se escabullen para abandonarlo. China domina este arte pero por todas partes vemos a otros países que abandonan paso a paso a Estados Unidos de manera más o menos sutil, por ejemplo como Arabia Saudita . Para la Unión Europea, casi el u ́ ltimo

Excepto que se trate de otra cosa mas que un frío ca ́lculo de costes/beneficios,y que para muchos de los actores los beneficios comienzan a sobrepasar los costes.

The fast pace of internationalisation discredits the central role of the dollar a little more. The loss both of Saudi support, which was a masterpiece of the petrodollar edifice, the support of the European Union as a bastion of the United States, replaced by the Eurozone underpinned by the Euro, constitute a new threat for the United States. Three of the remaining cornerstones of American power will disappear in 2014, insidiously continuing the global upheaval. The United States wagered on being the potential barrier between the status quo and a world of tomorrow that would be too painful to cross; even if the other countries has so much to gain from a new world order, they would not cross the Rubicon. La teniente de alcalde delegada de Bibliotecas, Pilar Núñez, apuntó que “seguimos desarrollando el programa 'Soñando

Palabras', esta vez en el colegio Gloria Fuertes. Durante tres días llevamos a cabo con los niños actividades alrededor de los cuentos, con el objetivo de animarles a la lectura. Quiero agradecer la colaboración del profesorado, porque sin ellos sería imposible llevar adelante esta campaña”. arranged activities with the children centred around storytelling, in order to encourage them to read. I want to thank the teaching staff for their collaboration, as without them this campaign could not happen". The campaign spends three days in each school, during which time they work on a story through a series of activities, so that children embrace reading both in the classroom and at home. They organise a parade, and create drawings of the children's favourite stories.

Queridos socios y amantes de la cultura: Ha sido hace apenas un mes que disfrutamos el exitoso concierto presentado por el guitarrista ilustre, José Luis Morillas Arques . Mientras tanto hemos estado haciendo coincidir los detalles para la serie de conciertos que queremos ofrecer para su gran placer . En el proceso, llegamos a la conclusión de que, debido a la proximidad de la temporada de fiestas de Navidad , sería más práctico posponer las Sonatas originalmente programadas para el 30 de este mes . El Carol Service anual organizado por la Iglesia Anglicana que ayudamos a promover está a punto de tener lugar en un par de semanas . Por lo tanto, la intención nuestra es presentar el próximo programa de Sonatas en enero del año 2014 . La mención del nuevo año trae a la mente nuestro próximo gran concierto que muchos de ustedes están esperando - Concierto de los Tres Reyes. Estamos orgullosos de mencionar que vamos a tener un tamaño mas completo de la Orquesta Sinfónica de Sotogrande. El director, Ignacio Ábalos Ruiz, ya ha finalizado unos detalles del programa de clásicos de la ópera. Ilustrando la ocasión será una ganadora de múltiples premios, la Soprano Elena Sancho Pereg . Ella va a estar asistido por un tenor igualmente logrado cuyo nombre será anunciado en breve. Madrid with great success and has been performed more than 400 times since its premier. It is set in a hairdresser’s, where the amusing owner plays at being a diva of the silver screen with his clients, between styles, shampoo and gossip. When all of a sudden…a

scream. There’s been a murder. The police arrive and open up the show to the public. You are the only witnesses. The hairdresser’s becomes a “Cluedo” set. Everyone tries to find out who is guilty of the crime, and the audience becomes part of the action, all without getting a hair out of place.

It has been just a month ago that we enjoyed the successful concert presenting the distinguished guitarist, José Luis Morillas Arques. In the meantime we have been lining up the details for the series of concerts that we want to offer for your distinct pleasure. In the process, we concluded that due to the proximity of the festive season of Christmas, it would be more practical to postpone the Sonatas originally programmed for the 30th of this month. The yearly Carol Service organized by the Anglican Church which we help promote is just about to take place in a couple of weeks. We therefore plan to present the next Sonatas in January of next year. The mention of the New Year brings to mind our next big concert which lots of you are looking forward to – the Three Kings’ Concert. We are proud to mention that we will have a full size Symphony Orchestra of Sotogrande. The director, Ignacio Ábalos Ruiz, has already prepared a complete program of opera classics. Gracing the occasion will be a multiaward winner Soprano Elena Sancho Pereg. She will be assisted by an equally accomplished tenor whose name will be announced shortly. Our own Camerata Singers of Sotogrande will team up with the soloists in their rendition of favorites like the Brindisi from La Traviata. The choir will also feature Va Pensiero from Nabucco..We are very sure that we will have a most enjoyable evening to launch the start of another musical year. We are also pleased to mention the program for the next big concert in 2014, the May concert with the Collegium Musicum Orchestra and Chorus joined in once more by the Camerata Singers. Encarna Rodríguez Argáiz exhibits collection of painting entitled "Impresiones" at La Cañada Golf Club "There are people in this wonderful world who have the ability to make us feel happy just through the way they see life. They have a special gift and the most surprising thing is that they don't even know it. Encarnita Rodríguez Argáiz is one these". This is one of the descriptions that can be read about this pharmacist from Algeciras who is exhibiting her collection of paintings entitled Impresiones ("Impressions") at Club de Golf La Cañada. This exhibition is not just a

collection of paintings, but also a display of solidarity for those in need, given that all the money raised will be donated to Caritas and the Reyes Magos 98 Association, which distributes gifts to the most disadvantaged children at Christmas. "They are abstract paintings full of memories, thoughts and dreams... Impressions... of life itself", is how it is described. All in all a fantastic way to enjoy some art and at the same time help a good cause.

Vinoteca Collado celebró en su tienda ayer, jueves 21 de noviembre, una cata de Viñas del Vero (de González Byass) en el que todos los asistentes disfrutaron de la fabulosa experiencia de probar diferentes caldos. Uno de los muchos eventos que Vinoteca Collado celebra en sus instalaciones en el que los asistentes, con una gran presencia ayer, pudieron conocer de primera mano las cualidades y principales rasgos de Viñas del Vero, así como su proceso de elaboración y todas las etapas por la que atraviesa el vino desde la recolección de la uva hasta el momento de ser servido.

La decoración navideña de Torreguadiaro, a punto aunque sin grandes alardes La Avenida Mar del Sur de Torreguadiaro se encuentra ya, desde hace algunos días, preparada para la llegada de la Navidad con los habituales motivos para las fiestas aunque no deja de llamar la atención es el poco despliegue que esta tiene en la barriada, llegando incluso a no iluminarse por completo. Una de las imágenes que más comentarios suscitó entre los vecinos, a modo de broma, fue encontrar a la estatua de Innocence, a la entrada de Torreguadiara, perfectamente vestida para estos festivos días.

La caja de zapatos de Navidad La muy creativa guardería de Sotogrande International School, Fundamentals, ha puesto en marcha este mes, con la inestimable colaboración de dos madres de la Ludoteca, un conmovedor proyecto llamado «La caja de zapatos de Navidad». La idea consiste en llenar y envolver una caja de zapatos con artículos de primera necesidad y regalitos para los niños de la localidad que son víctimas de la crisis. Habrá un punto de recogida a la entrada de Fundamentals entre el 1 y el 15 de diciembre, y las cajas serán entregadas a las familias a través de The Kindred Project, la ONG independiente de la SIS. Este año, la caja de zapatos de Navidad llegará a seiscientos hogares: niños sin hogar o sin familia,

así como familias separadas por causa de la pobreza, las drogas o el alcohol. Si desea participar en este bonito proyecto, prepare una caja para un niño o una niña, escoja un rango de edad (3-5, 5-7, 7-9 ó 9-11); incluya, por ejemplo, un cepillo de dientes, calcetines, pinzas para el pelo, peines, cepillos o caramelos. Envuelva la caja con un papel de regalo vistoso y no olvide etiquetarla con el sexo elegido y el rango de edad. El equipo masculino de Sub19 de la SIS quedó en el segundo puesto en la Copa Internacional disputada en el Algarve portugués el pasado fin de semana. Por desgracia, Roma venció a la SIS por 4 a 3 en la final; aun así, estamos muy orgullosos de la clasificación y del alto nivel de juego demostrado. The idea is to fill and wrap a shoebox with essentials and gifts for local children that are in crisis. There will be a drop-off point at the entrance of Fundamentals between the 1st and 15th December, the boxes will then be collected and delivered to fami-

lies through The Kindred Project, SIS’ independent NGO. The Christmas Shoebox Appeal will reach out to 600 families in

crisis this season, including children without homes or families as well as families that have been separated by the effects of drug or alcohol abuse and poverty. If you would like to participate in this wonderful project, choose to fill a shoebox for either a boy or a girl, choose your age group (35, 5-7, 7-9, 9-11) and fill it with, for example, a toothbrush, socks, hair clips, combs, brushes or sweets. Sadly, Rome beat SIS by 4 penalties to 3 in the Main Finals, but we are extremely proud of their achievements and the high level of play. The SIS team represented Spain in such a fantastic manner, both on and off the field.

Senderismo en familia Este curso hemos iniciado un nuevo proyecto en el que intentamos acercar la actividad física y la naturaleza a nuestro alumnado y sus familias. La actividad surge de la relación que se mantiene con la Universidad de Magisterio Virgen de Europa, ya que tenemos previsto realizar las diferentes rutas de senderismo junto a ellos. El primer sendero recorrido ha tenido lugar el 29 de noviembre en uno de los maravillosos parajes de nuestra localidad, El Pinar del Rey. La ruta consistió en la subida al Cerro del Águila y al Tajo del Pajarraco, teniendo una duración de dos horas y una distancia recorrida de 7,64 Km. La participación de las familias y alumnos/as de nuestro centro

fue bastante exitosa, contamos con la asistencia de 37 participantes de Tercer Ciclo, a pesar de que el tiempo no nos dejó confirmar la realización de la ruta hasta último momento. Nuestro objetivo es ir ampliando de forma progresiva la participación, propiciando la convivencia y que los alumnos/as se relacionen entre ellos y hagan actividades con sus familias en un entorno diferente, lúdico y en plena naturaleza. Esta actividad se pretende realizar de forma mensual e invitamos a todas las familias a que se unan a participar en este proyecto. Exposición de fotos infantil El pasado 25 de noviembre se celebró el día contra la Violencia de Género, y como cada año el centro CEIP Gloria Fuertes, quiso abordar este tema tan delicado para concienciar a los más pequeños de la necesidad de erradicar esta lacra social. Para ello se adaptó el contenido teniendo en cuenta que el trabajo realizado iba dirigido a niños/as de 3 a 6 años. Siempre desde una perspectiva constructiva, se instó a las familias de los alumnos/as a aportar a la clase una fotografía donde aparecieran personas conectadas con los niños/as y que estuvieran realizando una acción positiva, como por ejemplo (escenas de amor, de amistad, de ayuda, de cooperación, de coeducación, entre otras). Todas estas fotos permitieron una gran exposición que fue visitada por todos y cada uno de los alumnos/as del centro junto a su tuto-

ra. Este trabajo, estuvo encaminado a conseguir, primero que las familias realizaran acciones positivas en pro de la coeducación de sus hijos e hijas, segundo que los niños/as pudieran comentar las imágenes y consecuentemente asimilaran hábitos de vida más sociales respetuosos e integradores. El Centro Gloria Fuertes junto con la maestra de coeducación

consideramos que ha sido un trabajo muy positivo, tanto para los niños/as, que se han encontrado por sorpresa con una exposición de fotos donde podían ver a miembros de su familia, algo que les ha hecho mucha ilusión; tanto como para las familias al implicarse con más entusiasmo si cabe en la educación y la formación cívica y social de los niños/as que mañana formarán parte del futuro de esta sociedad.

Photo exhibition at pre-school 25 November was the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women and, as in previous years, the Gloria Fuertes centre for pre-school and primary education decided to broach this delicate subject in order to raise awareness among youngsters of the need to eradicate this scourge on the community. The project carried out adapted the topic, making it suitable for the children aged between 3 and 6 it was aimed at.

Hiking with the family This year we have launched a new project, aiming to combine physical activity and the great outdoors for our students and their families. This comes as part of our links with the Universidad de Magisterio Virgen de Europa, with whom we have previously organised hiking trails. The first hiking trail took place on 29 November in one of the most beautiful locations in the region, El Pinar del Rey. The trial consisted of a hike up Cerro del Águila and Tajo del Pararraco, taking two hours and covering 7.64 km. There was a good turnout from our students and their families,

with 37 participants from the Third Year, despite the fact that the weather prevented us from finalising our route until the last minute. Our aim is to slowly increase participation, promoting coexistence and cooperation between students, and enjoying different activities with their families in a different and fun environment at the heart of nature. We hope to carry out these activities on a monthly basis, and we invite all families who are available to join us in this project. Constructive in its approach, students' families were urged to contribute a photograph of people related with the children carrying out a positive action such as a scene of love, friendship, help, cooperation, coeducation or similar. A great exhibition was put together will all of the photos and was visited by each and every student at the centre together with their teacher. The project aimed firstly to get families to carry out positive actions in favour of the coeducation of their

children and, secondly, to have the children comment on the images and adopt socially inclusive and respectful habits. The Gloria Fuertes Centre and the coeducation teacher consider that it was a very positive project both for the children, who were very excited to find their family members in the photos on exhibition, as well as for the families, who participated with such enthusiasm in the social and civil education of the children, our community's future.

Tras volver en abril, he jugado pocos torneos y con la sensación de necesidad, ya que había perdido cinco meses de temporada y quería

hacer buenos resultados para coger impulso y recuperar posición”, explicó. “Es difícil rendir bien en cualquier deporte, más cuando lo necesitas. A pesar de ello, el parón me ha llegado en un momento ideal, en invierno, en la pretemporada. He pensado y he decidido que esto no es una carrera contrarreloj. A partir de ahí, he encauzado dos o tres buenos resultados. Estoy en el buen camino”, añadió. “Estoy concentrado en ser más consistente en mis resultados. El Real Club de Golf Sotogrande acogió, por segundo año consecutivo, la Gran Final de la II Fase del Pequecircuito de Andalucía. Un total de 116 jugadores, venidos de diversos puntos de la geografía andaluza y con edades comprendidas entre los 5 y 11 años, participaron en esta última cita de la temporada tras sumar los puntos necesarios en las pruebas clasificatorias. En las excelentes instalaciones del Real Club de Golf Sotogrande, Fernando Canela Gómez, protagonista de la mejor vuelta del día con 30 golpes (+3), y María Mercedes Vega Serrano se coronaron como vencedores en categoría Especial con una mínima renta de un golpe sobre sus inmediatos perseguidores. También ganaron: Antonio González Parra (Benjamín

Masculino 10-9 años), Álvaro Gómez de Linares (Benjamín Masculino 8 y menos años) Rebeca Fernández Robles (Benjamín Femenino 10-9 años), Marta Aguilar Berenguer (Benjamín Femenino 8 y menos años) y los alevines Carlos Luque-García Cubillana y Lucía Andrades Expósito. Como es tradicional, en la Gran Final del Pequecircuito también fueron premiados los mejores clasificados del Ranking en esta II Fase. Menos sorpresas hubo entre los alevines con las victorias de Ana Belén Morales Izquierdo y Gabriel Macías Cáceres después de acumular 50 y 55 puntos, respectivamente. Y completando el cuadro de galardonados por su regularidad, María Mercedes Vega (categoría Especial Femenina), junto a Fernando Canela, fueron los únicos jugadores que lograron el doble éxito de imponerse en la Final y en sus rankings correspondientes.

A total of 116 players, from all over Andalusia, from 5 to 11 years of age, came to participate in this last game of the season after achieving the necessary number of points in the classifying rounds. In the top class facilities of the Real Club de Golf Sotogrande, Fernando Canela Gómez (with the best round of the day at 30 strokes [+3]) and María Mercedes Vega Serrano were crowned the victors in the Special category, with a minimum one stroke lead ahead of their immediate competition. Other winners were: Antonio González Parra (Under 10 Boys), Álvaro Gómez de Linares (Under 8 Boys), Rebeca Fernández Robles (Under 10 Girls), Marta Aguilar Berenguer (Under 8 Girls) and Under 12s Carlos Luque-García Cubillana and Lucía Andrades Expósito. As is tradition in the

Pequecircuito Grand Final, there were also prizes for the highest ranking players in the II phase. Various categories finished with two players tied at the top of the table. El equipo español, integrado por el tesorillero Mario Galiano y el barcelonés David Morago, conquistó por primera vez en la historia el Internacional de Argentina por Equipos, la XLII edición de la Copa Tailhade, disputado en el bonaerense Los Lagartos Country Club con la participación de dieciséis países. Muy firmes en todo momento, Mario Galiano y David Morago situaron a España en la parte alta de la clasificación desde el primer momento antes de acaparar el liderato en solitario en la tercera jornada, cuando acumuló ocho golpes de ventaja sobre Australia, campeón en la edición de 2012, y nueve sobre Irlanda y Sudáfrica, que en ese

instante permanecían empatados en la tercera plaza. Más de un centenar de personas participaron en el Club de Golf La Cañada en la jornada final de las actividades de golf adaptado que se realizan a lo largo del año en este campo municipal. Autoridades municipales asisitieron a la entrega de medallas y regalos a todos los jugadores, usuarios de las asociaciones campogibraltareñas de ayuda a discapacitados físicos y mentales Apadis, Asansull y Fegadi. El alcalde, Juan Carlos Ruiz Boix, señaló al término de la entrega de premios: “debo mostrar mi satisfacción de que se realice en un campo de golf

municipal un trabajo en favor de personas discapacitadas a lo largo de todo el año, no sólo en el día de hoy que es una jornada de convivencia. Con su asistencia cada miércoles pueden romper la rutina de todos los días en sus centros, y practicar además un deporte”. “Es clave el apoyo que presta el Club de Golf La Cañada, aportando sus monitores, el campo y el material”, añadió. Por su parte, el presidente del Club de Golf La Cañada, Ángel Gutiérrez, comentó que al ir al jugar al golf “todas las asociaciones que trabajan con discapacita-

dos se demuestra que este deporte no es sólo para personas pudientes, sino que en La Cañada tienen cabida todo tipo de personas. Ellos vienen al campo todos los miércoles, y hoy es su gran fiesta. Esto no ocurre en ningún otro campo de golf de España”, finalizó.

Cuatro golfistas andaluces han sido convocados por el Comité Técnico de Aficionados Masculino de la Real Federación Española de Golf para participar en una concentración de cara a planificar la temporada 2014, entre los que se incluye el tesorillero Mario Galiano. Estas jornadas de entrenamientos, previstas para los días 21 y 22 de diciembre en el trazado valenciano del Club de Golf Escorpión, contarán con la asistencia de Leonardo Lilja, Scott W. Fernández y Carlos Leandro, al margen de Galiano. Además, Pablo Rodríguez-Tabernero y Enrique Marín, jugadores habituales en los grupos de trabajo del CTAM, también habían sido citados, aunque finalmente no podrán asistir por encontrarse durante esas fechas disputando el

Doral Publix Junior Classic en Miami (Florida). El principal objetivo de la concentración, a la que acudirán un total de 23 jóvenes promesas del golf nacional, es el de potenciar el desarrollo de habilidades del jugador

Andrés Villena, es una de las referencias de la generación de oro del voleibol nacional, sumando hasta el momento 15 internacionalidades con la absoluta. España sueña con estar en el Mundial de 2014 y para llegar al máximo nivel a la clasificatoria

que se disputa en enero, el técnico nacional Fernando Muñoz presentó una convocatoria marcada por la conjunción de juventud y veteranía. La selección masculina iniciará la preparación para el Premundial el próximo 26 de diciembre, cuando el nuevo equipo a las órdenes de Fernando Muñoz se concentre en Madrid. Los internacionales disputarán los días 28 y 29 de diciembre un Torneo Bilateral Amistoso en Leganés contra Portugal que servirá para preparar el Torneo de Clasificación para el Campeonato del Mundo.

El gaditano Pedro Marín (SIGA Sotogrande) se llevó el último triunfo de la temporada tras concluir empatado a 52 golpes con Andrés Pastor y Leonardo Lilja. Por segundo año consecutivo el recorrido benalmadense de Bil Bil Golf puso el punto y final al Circuito Andaluz de Pitch & Putt. Las características de este magnífico trazado, el único de 18 hoyos de P&P que hay actualmente en Andalucía, permitieron que tomaran la

salida más de 120 jugadores. En esta última cita, en cuanto a la clasificación scratch, Pedro Marín Santander se apuntó su segundo triunfo de la temporada tras el cosechado, hace menos de un mes, en Magna Marbella Golf. Como en aquella ocasión, el joven jugador gaditano se benefició de la diferencia de hándicap para deshacer el empate a 52 golpes (2 bajo par) con Andrés Pastor Ayllón y Leonardo Lilja Moyano.

Andrés Villena from San Roque returns to international volleyball for Spain San Roque man and former Unicaja Almería player, Andrés Villena (now playing for Italian side Vibo Valentia Tonno Callipo), has been called up once again by the national men's coach, Fernando Muñoz, to prepare for the forthcoming Qualifying Tournament for the 2014 World Championship. Andrés Villena is a star of the golden generation of Spanish volleyball, with 15 international caps with the men's team.

Spain's dream is to compete in the 2014 World Championship and to reach the top of the qualifying competition to be held in January the national coach, Fernando Muñoz, has selected a team that combines youth and experience. The men's team will begin preparing for the qualification matches on 26 December, when the new team will gather in Madrid under Fernando Muñoz. On 28 and 29 the

national team will compete in a Bilateral Friendly Tournament in Leganés against Portugal in order to prepare for the Qualifying Tournament for the World Championship. Spain's Qualifying Tournament will take place from 3 to 5 January in Paris, where they will compete against France, Belgium and Belarus for a single place in the 2014 World Championship to be held in Poland.

La selección de fútbol de Gibraltar disputó su primer encuentro amistoso, desde que el pasado 24 de mayo entrase a fomar parte como miembro de la UEFA, ante Eslovaquia firmando un empate sin goles, el encuentro se disputó en tierras portuguesas en el Estadio do Algarve. De esta manera, hizo su estreno en el panorama internacional futbolístico el Peñón ante un buen número de aficiona-

dos gibraltareños que desplazaron hasta Portugal. Gran papel el del conjunto cadete, en su participación en el Campeonato de España de Base celebrado Guadalajara. Las cinco gimnastas sanroqueñas: Nicoll Lázaro, Lucia Borrego, Paula Amores, Leia y Zoe Marais, realizaron una brillante actuación en un certamen de muchísimo nivel con más de un centenar de conjuntos llegados de distintos pun-

tos de la geografía nacional. El conjunto sanroqueño finalizó en la 32º posición (de 112 equipos) con un total de 7.067 puntos. Una puntuación más que destacable debido a alto nivel de sus competidores, buena muestra del gran trabajo que se está llevando a cabo en este deporte en la base local. San Roque team play impressive part in the Spanish Grassroots Rhythmic Gym Championship The Under 16 Team performed admirably in the recent Spanish Grassroots Rhythmic Gym Championship which took place in Guadalajara. The five San Roque gymnasts Nicoll Lázaro, Lucia Borrego, Paula Amores and Leia and Zoe Marais performed a spectacular piece in a high level contest with more than one hundred teams from all over

the country. The San Roque group finished in 32nd place (out of 112), with a total of 7.067 points. This was a more than respectable score, especially considering the quality of the competition, which was proof of the work that is being done in this sport at the grassroots level. La temporada de Concurso Ecuestre en Sotogrande Hípica finalizó con un fantástico Concurso Social de Doma Clásica que como colofón al trabajo realizado durante toda el año, junto a las pruebas habituales, incluyó en esta ocasión las pruebas de Ponis para que todos los jinetes sin excepción de edad pudieran, salir a pista para mostrar los resultados de su entrenamiento y disfrutar del emocionante experiencia que es la Competición. Jinetes de la Escuela de Doma Clásica de Sotogrande junto a su

entrenador, Diego Ramírez, y otros numerosos jinetes de fuera no quisieron perderse este evento con una altísima participaron que rondó el medio centenar. Un éxito en esta compleja disciplina, muestra una vez más de los excelentes resultados que está consiguiendo el proyecto deportivo de alto nivel en Sotogrande. Las pruebas de los más despertaron la sonrisa de todos y dejó patente el estupendo trabajo realizado desde el ponyclub por su profesora Cristina Hernáiz. Spectacular Dressage Competition at Sotogrande Hípica The Equestrian Competition season at Sotogrande Hípica came to an end with a fantastic Social Dressage Contest, which on this occasion, as a climax to all the work done throughout the year, along with the usual tests, included pony tests, which meant that all riders regardless of age could go out onto the arena to show what they have learned and enjoy the exciting experience of a competition. Riders of the Sotogrande Dressage School, along with their trainer, Diego Ramírez, and many

riders from other clubs, did not want to miss this event with an extremely high turnout of around fifty participants. Dressage is a complex discipline, but the success of the event once again demonstrated the excellent results that are being achieved by this first-rate sporting initiative in Sotogrande. The tests involving the youngest riders put smiles on everyone's faces and showcased the great work done at the Pony Club by their instructor Cristina Hernáiz. In the other tests, supporters and

lovers of horse riding were able to enjoy a sporting spectacle full of elegance and quality. The effort and enthusiasm of all the riders and trainers must be highlighted, along with the importance of the support received from the sponsors and, in particular, Soto-Cheval, the club's official backer, who with their contributions throughout the 2013 season have made it possible for Sotogrande Hípica's sporting initiatives in show jumping, eventing and dressage to happen.

Un gran Adolfo Cambiaso lidera la victoria (16-11) ante Alegría Sancor Seguros

El 120 Campeonato Argentino Abierto de Polo HSBC cayó en manos de La Dolfina Hope Funds al vencer en una inolvidable final a Alegría Sancor Seguros con un resultado de 16 goles a 11. La Bocha Polo Magazine (Grupo HCP), como es habitual cada temporada, se desplazó hasta Palermo para acudir a una de las citas emblemáticas del polo mundial. La Dolfina se mantuvo invicto en toda la Temporada Alta 2013 (11 partidos), y mostró toda su potencia en la gran final en la

cancha 1 de la Catedral del Polo en Palermo, engalanada para la ocasión. Con este triunfo, más los títulos conseguidos en el Abierto del Tortugas Country Club y el del Hurlingham Club, el equipo de Cañuelas consiguió el único halago que le faltaba, la honorífica Triple Corona de la AAP. Es la quinta formación en integrar ese selecto lote, junto a Coronel Suárez (lo logró en 4 oportunidades: 1972, 74, 75 y 77), Ellerstina (1994 y 2010), Santa Ana (1973) y La Aguada (2003).

Además, logró su séptimo título en Palermo (en su decimotercera final, novena consecutiva), igualando en el quinto puesto histórico a Venado Tuerto, sólo por debajo de Coronel Suárez (25 títulos), Hurlingham (15), North Santa Fe y El Trébol (8).

La ‘otra’crónica:PorJosé Luis G arcía La Dolfina se alzo con la 120 edición del Abierto Argentino de Polo, al mismo tiempo que le valía para obtener la Triple Corona. Hecho este que tan solo se ha dado en 9 ediciones en los mas de cien años de vigencia. El equipo de Cañuelas, donde la presencia del numero uno del mundo, Adolfo Cambiaso, que armó una escuadra imbatible, con Juan Martin Nero ( que no disputo la final) sustituido por Sebastián Merlos, Pablo MacDononoug y nuestro querido y vecino por muchos años, David “Pelón” Stirling, se permitieron corregir los defectos de la pasada edición y orquestaron todo un equipo fuerte en aspectos como la mentalización y saber conjugar los tiempos de tal manera que la han llevado a estar en lo mas alto del colofón mundial del polo. La final en si no fue todo lo brillante que se podía esperar, a la cancha salto un equipo que venia muy ilusionado por haber dejado en la cuenta al otrora ganador del 2012, Ellesrtina. Lucas Monteverde, ex de La Dolfina con un Pablo Pieres inconmensurable, apoyado por Hilario Ulloa con el canadiense Frederick Mannix en Alegria Sancor Seguros hizo pensar que seria posible mantenerle la pulseada al todo poderoso equipo de Adolfito. Eso pensaban los mas de quince mil espectadores venidos de todas las partes del mundo, pero ya en el primer chukker y parte del segundo, un tanteo de 5 a 1 a favor de los azules hizo pensar que estaba todo resuelto, pero no fue así, un parcial de 5 goles a favor de los de magenta les permitió igualar el marcador. Esto sucedió hasta la recta final. Pero aquí los caballos fueron vitales en los últimos chukker, y es obvio que en Cañuelas cuidan mucho estos detalles y se vio su poderío, donde la famosa yegua Cuartetera tan solo tuvo que ser montada menos de dos minutos. Se presume unos años de dominio de La Dolfina, y esto sí se vio en Palermo el pasado 7 del presente.

La Dolfina won the 120th Argentine Polo Open to also claim the Triple Crown. It was a feat that has only been achieved on nine occasions in over a century. The team from Cañuelas, where the world number one, Adolfo Cambiaso, put together an unbeatable side, with Juan Martin Nero (not competing in the final and replaced by Sebastián Merlos), Pablo MacDonough and our beloved neighbour of many years, David “Pelón” Stirling, managed to correct their defects from last year and create a team that was mentally strong and able to combine in such a way that they reached the very top of world polo. The final in itself was as brilliant as you could wish for, with a team going out onto the field with the excitement of knowing they had overcome the 2012 winner, Ellerstina. Lucas Monteverde, formerly of La Dolfina, with an immense Pablo Pieres, supported by Hilario Ulloa and the Canadian Frederick Mannix, playing for Alegria Sancor Seguros, made us think it might be possible to compete in an arm wrestle with Adolfito's all-powerful team. That was what the fifteen thousand or more spectators from all over the world thought, but midway through the second chukka a score of 5-1 in favour of the blues suggested it was all over. However, a period in which the team in magenta scored 5 goals enabled them to draw level on the scoreboard. And it remained level until the final straight. The final chukka was when the horses became a vital factor and it is clear that in Cañuelas they take a great deal of care over such details, where the famous mare Cuartetera only had to be ridden for two minutes. La Dolfina can be expected to dominate for some years and this was seen in Palermo on 7 December.

With this victory, plus the titles claimed in the Tortugas Country Club Open and the Hurlingham Club Open, the team from Cañuelas achieved the one accolade they still hadn't won, the AAP Triple Crown. They were the fifth side to join this select group, alongside Coronel Suárez (who won the

Triple Crown on four occasions: 1972, 74, 75 and 77), Ellerstina (1994 y 2010), Santa Ana (1973) and La Aguada (2003). xz Redacción El fuerte temporal de levante hizo suspender las pruebas previstas para la segunda y última jornada de la Copa Navidad, Quo del Octógono, correspondiente al cuarto asalto del III Circuito NH Resort para monotipos J/80. A causa del viento, se tomó la decisión de anular y cerrar el cuarto asalto con las tres pruebas celebradas en sábado que, sumadas a las anteriores, confeccionan una general provisional con un total de diez y ocho mangas a la espera de lo que ocurra ya en el nuevo año. El ‘NH Almenara’ de Alfonso Herrera, con matrícula de Sotogrande, se proclamó vencedor de la Copa Navidad, Quo del Octógono, firmando así su primera victoria parcial en lo que va de

NH Almenara lifts Quo del Octógono Christmas Cup in the 3rd NH Resorts J/80 League The strong easterly gales meant that the races planned for the second and final day of the Quo del Octógono Christmas Cup had to be cancelled in the fourth round of the 3rd NH Resorts League for monotype J/80s. Because of the wind the decision was made to cancel and bring to a close the fourth round following the three races held on the Saturday, which, added to the previous races, make up a provisional ranking with a total of 18 legs, pending the events that will take place in the New Year. Alfonso Herreras NH Almenara, registered in Sotogrande, were

the winners of the Quo del Octógono Christmas Cup in what was their first round victory of the league so far, with a onepoint lead over Náutico Sevillas boat ‘Herbalife’, owned by Pepequin Orbaneja and Juan Luis Páez. Next on the podium was Talo Pérez de Guzmáns Puerto Sotogrande, followed by Tomás Puertas NH Resorts, Caine Federicos PAS Team (skippered by Nacho Alcina), Tony Segovias' Royal Gibraltar Yacht Club, the FRS Sailing Team and the Spanish Armada boat skippered by Eugenio del Río. After this fourth and final round

of the year, Herbalife still heads the overall ranking, followed by NH Almenara, who managed to move closer to the leaders with their victory and widen the gap with their closest pursuer, PAS Team. Puerto de Sotogrande moved into fourth place, ousting Da Bruno, now in fifth, with NH Resorts just three points behind. Though anything could still happen, these boats have opened up a gap with the rest of the fleet, led by the Spanish Armada boat, followed by the Royal Gibraltar Yacht, the DIPS Project Management, FRS Sailing Team and Orobroy.

La Reserva claim Classic Clubs Trophy Golf for third time La Reserva de Sotogrande were victorious in the 2013 Classic Clubs Trophy, a golf club league involving several of the most prestigious clubs such as Aloha, Las Brisas, La Zagaleta and Los Naranjos. It is the third year since its inception in 2007 that La Reserva de Sotogrande has won the competition.

Paul de Schutter, chairman of the La Reserva de Sotogrande Players Association, as well as Martin Knus, chairman of the Competition Committee, contributed actively to ensuring the sucess of the league. Andy Lubbe Baker, Richard Timmings y John Eccles, too contribute to win the championship.

‘Da Bruno y ‘PASTeam’, los otros protagonistas por sendas victorias

‘Herbalife’, nuevo triunfo que consolida su liderazgo en la general del III Circuito NH Resort de J/80

El barco del Náutico Sevilla ‘Herbalife’ consolida su liderazgo en la general del III Circuito NH Resort para monotipos J/80, que organizan la firma Bevelle Náutica y el CN Bevelle en aguas de Sotogrande, después de adjudicarse el triunfo en la tercera cita. Una jornada más, la tercera en lo que va de circuito, tres ganadores para cuatro pruebas y una baza segura en la regularidad. Dos 1º y dos 2º permitieron a ‘Herbalife’ situarse en cabeza, con cuatro y cinco puntos de renta sobre el ‘Da Bruno’ de Iñaki Castañer y el ‘PAS Team’ de Caine Federico y Nacho Alcina, segundo y tercero, respec-

tivamente. El ‘NH Almenara’ de John Bassadone, cuarto mejor en la tercera entrega con un 6to, un 3ro, un 5to y un 2do. Y de nuevo el ‘NH Resort’ de Tomás Puerta ha demostrado que quiere estar arriba y hoy cerraba el ‘top five’ con dos 7mo que luego mejoraba con un 4to y un 5to. Tras esta jornada y quince pruebas totales, ‘Herbalife’ dilata su distancia desde la cabeza de la general provisional en la que suma 20 puntos, seguido con 37 y 39 por el ‘PAS Team’ y el ‘NH Almenara’, que auguran una interesante pelea, como sucede con el ‘Da

Bruno’ y el ‘Puerto Sotogrande’ de Talo Pérez de Guzmán, que intercambian sus puestos en el cuarto y quinto, respectivamente. A partir de ahí, la tabla sigue con el ‘NH Resort’, el barco de la Armada Española, el ‘Royal Gibraltar Yacht Club’, ‘Fendemares II’, ‘DIPS Project Management’ y ‘FRS Iberia’.

‘Herbalife’ secures another victory and consolidates position at the top of the III NH Resort J80 Circuit

Seville Nautical Club boat ‘Herbalife’ has consolidated its position at the top of the leader board after achieving the top position at the third test of the III NH Resort J80 Circuit, organised by Bevelle Nautica and CN Bevelle in Sotogrande waters. It was the third test of this year’s circuit, with three winners for the four legs and one guaranteed qualifier. Two first places and two second places allowed ‘Herbalife’ a comfortable lead, four and five points ahead of Iñaki Castañer’s ‘Da Bruno’ and Caine Federico and Nacho Alcina’s ‘PAS Team’ who came in second and third, respectively. Resort’ once again demonstrated a desire to be on top, closing the day in the ‘top five’ with two seventh places that were then bettered with a 4th and a 5th. After this day’s racing and fifteen legs overall, ‘Herbalife’ stands out at the top of the provisional list with 20 points, followed by 37 and 39 from ‘PAS Team’ and ‘NH Almenara’ which looks like it will be an interesting fight, as does the rivalry between ‘Da Bruno’ and Talo Pérez de Guzmán’s ‘Puerto Sotogrande’ which go back and forth between fourth and fifth position, respectively. The table then continues with the ‘NH Resort’, the boat belonging to the Armada Española, the ‘Royal Gibraltar Yacht Club’, ‘Fendemares II’, ‘DIPS Project Management’ and ‘FRS Iberia’.

El consejo farmaceutico Los catarros en invierno Como cada año, llegan las bajas temperaturas y con ello un grupo de enfermedades que se relacionan estrechamente con este proceso. Así, por ejemplo, tenemos que en esta época aumentan mucho los catarros oresfriados y las gripes, que no se suelen dar tanto en el verano. Existen muchas teorías que intentan explicar la razón por la que aumentan esta enfermedad del catarro común. Clásicamente se asocia el frío con estas, por lo que si uno se abriga bien, no cogerá un catarro. Está claro que los catarros son un proceso infeccioso, por lo que sólo por no abrigarse, no se coge un catarro. Es necesario que esté presente el virus para que se produzca la infección. Actualmente se piensa que los catarros se deben más al hacinamiento de las personas por el frío, a la falta de ventilación en los hogares y a estar mayor tiempo junto a otras personas que pueden estar infectadas. A causa del frío uno tiende a ventilar con menos frecuencia las viviendas, la gente pasa más tiempo en contacto con otras en lugares cerrados. Con ello se facilita que los virus del catarro puedan infectar con más facilidad a las personas. Esta teoría se apoya en que en la actualidad se ha observado un aumento de los casos de catarros en verano a causa de los aires acondicionados. Se está produciendo el mismo efecto que se produce en invierno. La gente no ventila las casas ni las oficinas en verano y tienden a estar en un espacio cerrado, donde es más fácil que los virus se propaguen.
