La partida llega a un momento decisivo y al momento clave en el calendario del desarrollo y crecimiento económico en el ejercicio de doce meses para la mayoría de los sectores que llevan a cabo su actividad en Sotogrande. At times, there is a lack of original experience and original and forward thinking content. Likewise, Santa María Polo Club is heading into its 44th International Summer Tournament that kicks off in the last week of August. This will be another season where it tries to improve on the last edition. As we have already mentioned on these pages at various stages throughout spring, the plan is to elevate

Un calendario repleto de actividades La primera quincena de julio ha marcado un buen referente con una ocupación muy superior al pasado año por estas fechas, y por ende, por encima de los últimos años. Todo hace indicar que en lo que resta de julio y el ansiado agosto, Sotogrande se convertirá en un autentico hervidero. Para tanta ocupación es preciso un excelente calendario repleto de actividades deportivas y lúdicas. Y podemos dar fe que tanto las entidades como los propios negocios se han ocupado de ofrecer lo
mejor posible. Sotogrande, S.A. ha resurgido con una potencia inusual en comparación con otros años, el “Mercado de Levante”, en La Marina esta siendo uno de los lugares mas lindos y agradables que visitar, y que junto al mercado nocturno y el de los domingos es uno de los ejes de visita obligada este verano. Por otra parte, ésta entidad en su nuevo espacio El Mirador, esta ofreciendo permanentes encuentros con empresarios locales y potenciales inversores residenciales, donde departen ante las expectativas y la nueva visión del Sotogrande del futuro. Tampoco tenemos que olvidar que estamos a punto del inicio del Torneo Internacional de Santa María Polo Club, un verdadero motor de los veranos de Sotogrande, que cada año se agranda en lo concerniente a la expansión de zonas de ocio, diversión, tiendas y una excelente oferta gastronómica. Solo cabe un pequeño pero, la disminución en el número de equipos de polo, que realmente no perjudica en cierta medida para armar uno de los mejores torneos de Europa con diferencia y contar con jugadores de los mejores del mundo, entre los que destacan el numero uno Adolfito Cambiaso y dos componentes mas del laureado La Dolfina, Juanma Martin Nero y David “Pelón” Stirling, además de otros jugadores que disputan las mejores competiciones del planeta. Y por supuesto la zona costera con los mejores chiringuitos, las terrazas de copas, restaurantes con unas cartas increíbles con los mejores manjares del mar, además de cenas y actos benéficos, todo un reto para decir “yo estuve en Sotogrande”. Y si quieres asistir a
la mayoría, te aconsejamos ver la pagina numero 20 de este medio y te encontraras con una agenda repleta de eventos y actividades deportivas. Solo deseamos que los negocios y quien prestan los servicios lo hagan con la mayor profesionalidad y calidad posible, y es lo normal porque suelen ser muy buenos, excepto los agoreros que se precipitan y tratan de cuadrar la caja del año por la vía rápida. Y todo no vale, hay que sembrar para el futuro, ser amables es la misiva. Solo cabe recordar que con tanta afluencia se multiplican la ocupación de espacios, ante la falta de aparcamientos, vías repletas de todo tipo de medios de transportes, así hasta que incluso soportamos colas en los accesos, cosa inusual en el resto del año. Y pedimos paciencia y moderación a las autoridades ante las fuertes medidas de control, mayormente ante el aumento de las denuncias por estacionamientos. Colaboremos todos, conductores y autoridades, seguro que el turismo gana. Os deseamos que disfrutéis en nuestra área y sigan viniendo. A calendar full of activities The first fortnight of July has set a good benchmark with occupancy levels much higher than they were at the same time last year, and consequently, higher than in previous years. Everything seems to indicate that in the remainder of July and longed for August, Sotogrande will become a real hotbed of activity. There is not even a single spare place left in terms of houses and apartments, in addition to extremely high hotel occupancy. However, it must be acknowledged that there are not enough beds in this regard, which makes it very necessary to increase the amount of high quality accommodation in order to consolidate Sotogrande’s status as the summer destination par excellence. With such high occupancy levels, it is necessary to have a calendar full of sports and entertainment. We can attest to the fact that institutions as well as companies have tried to offer the best possible activities. Sotogrande S.A. has re-emerged with unusual power in comparison with other years, the “Mercado de Levante” (East Coast Market) in the Marina is one of the prettiest and most pleasant places to visit. Along with the night time market, and the Sunday market, it is one of the key must visit spots this summer. On the other hand, Sotogrande S.A. with its new El Mirador space, is offering meetings with local business people and potential resident investors, where they will discuss expectations and new vision of
Sotogrande in the future. Neither should we forget that the Santa María Polo Club International Tournament is about to get underway. It is a real driving force behind summers in Sotogrande and every year it gets bigger in terms of expanding leisure, entertainment and shopping areas and offering excellent cuisine. There is just one little but, a reduction in the number of polo teams, although it really does not harm in a certain way, the ability to have hold one of the best tournaments in Europe with the best players in the world, among which it is worth highlighting the world number one Adolfito Cambiaso and two more members of the much lauded La Dolfina side, Juanma Martin Nero and David “Pelón” Stirling, as well as other players who play in the world’s best competitions. Then of course, on the coast you will find the best beach bars, terraces to have drinks at, restaurants with incredible menus including the best seafood, as well as charity dinners and events. It is a real challenge that will make you want to say “I was in Sotogrande”. You can find about new additions that arise over the course of the day or weeks, and as you see we make it as easy as possible. We just hope that businesses and service providers will do it with the greatest possible professionalism and quality, and that is normal because they are usually very good, except for the pessimists who try to cash in for the year as quickly as possible. Not everything goes, you have to sow for the future, being kind is the key message. Lastly, it is worth reminding readers that with so many people, the occupancy of space quickly multiplies due to a lack of parking spots. Entire roads are filled with all kinds of vehicles, to the extent that there are even queues at the entry points, something which is very unusual throughout the rest of the year. We ask for patience and moderation from authorities in relation to strict control measures, especially against an increase in parking complaints. Let us collaborate together, drivers and authorities, surely tourism will benefit. El dispositivo de servicios en las playas de la zona se encuentra operative y a pleno rendimiento desde principios de mes. Una accion que no sólo incluye al personal de socorrismo y salvamento, sino también a las brigadas de limpieza. También se está montando nuevo mobiliario en todo el litoral, con duchas adaptadas y Lavapiés. Las playas más concurridas contarán pronto con instalaciones para la práctica de deportes de arena para hacer así aún más atractiva su visita. Las personas implicadas en este dispositivo en Torreguadiaro son: socorristas y sanita-
rios de la empresa ajudicataria Socoservis, voluntarios de Protección Civil, contratados para trabajos de temporada que se encargan de la limpieza de las playas y personal de Emadesa. La temporada se extenderá hasta el 8 de septiembre aunque los servicios podrían ampliarse en función de la afluencia de usuarios. El dispositivo de socorrismo y salvamento cuenta, además de con el personal adecuado (socorristas y sanitarios) con un mínimo de tres ambulancias, un quad, un vehículo todoterreno y tres embarcaciones. También disponen de tornos y latas de rescate y el
material médico necesario para esta labor. Además, Protección Civil se encargará de supervisar y apoyar en tierra el trabajo realizado. En cuanto a la labor realizada desde Obras y Servicios y Emadesa, durante los últimos meses se han arreglado los módulos de salvamento y la fontanería de las duchas, se han instalando pasarelas sobre la arena y se han acondicionado los carriles de acceso, entre otras labores. Además, hay que destacar la labor de limpieza que realiza diariamente personal contratado por Emadesa a través del plan de empleo.
Beach services in the area have been in operation and functioning at full capacity since the beginning of the month. This procedure does not only include lifesaving staff, it also involves brigades of cleaners. New fittings are now being set up all along the coastline, with adaptable showers and feet washers. The most popular beaches will also soon have facilities for playing sports in the sand so that visits to the beach are even more appealing. The people involved in the measures in Torreguadiaro are: lifeguards and first aid workers from the company that was awarded the contract, Socoservis, Civic Protection volunteers, people contracted for seasonal work who are in charge of cleaning beaches and staff from Emadesa. The season will last until 8 September although services could be extended depending on the number of us-
ers. In addition to having the suitable staff (life guards and first aid workers) the lifesaving measures also include the provision of at least three ambulances, a quad bike, an all-terrain vehicle and three vessels. They also have winches, rescue cans and all of the necessary medical material for the job. Furthermore, Civic Protection will be responsible for supervision and providing ground support for work carried out. With regard to the work carried out by Works and Services and Emadesa, over the last few months, repair work has been carried out on lifesaving modules and the plumbing on showers. Walkways have been fitted on the sand and the access lanes have been fixed up, not to mention other work. Also, it is worth highlighting the cleaning work that is carried out on a daily basis by Emadesa through the employment plan.

Guardia Civil y Policía Local trabajan para un mayor control de motos acuáticas y embarcaciones en las playas 1 M. Gil / Redacción
La cercanía tanto de motos acuáticas como de otras embaraciones en zonas habilitadas para bañistas en las playas de la zona, una de las principales preocupaciones en la seguridad de este verano. Por ello, tuvo lugar un encuentro entre de la edil de Seguridad Ciudadana, Mercedes Serrano, que solicitó a la Comandancia de la Guardia Civil una mayor presencia de su Servicio Marítimo para controlar la presencia de motos acuáticas y otras embarcaciones que no respetan las normas de seguridad en las playas. La Benemérita inform de que había intensificado su labor de cara al verano y que existe un dispositivo especial para jornadas claves. Serrano, acompañada por el jefe de la Policía Local sanroqueña, se reunió con el comandante jefe accidental de la Comandancia de la Guardia Civil de Algeciras y con el capitán jefe de la Compañía de la Guardia Civil de La Línea. En el encuentro trataron diversos temas relacionados con
la seguridad en el municipio, pero se centraron en la cuestión de las playas. La edil señaló que algunas motos acuáticas y otras embarcaciones de recreo no respetan las normas de seguridad en las playas, por lo que se hace necesaria una mayor presencia de la Guardia Civil para evitar situaciones de peligro a los bañistas. Siendo Torreguadiaro, uno de los puntos calientes. El comandante jefe de la Comandancia explicó que hay un dispositivo especial, por lo que las playas del municipio contarán con efectivos de la Guardia Civil tanto en tierra como en mar. Además, se incrementará la vigilancia durante toda la temporada estival en las playas sanroqueñas.

It involved Mercedes Serrano, the councillor for Civic Security, who requested that the Guardia Civil should increase the role of their Marine Services in order to control the presence of jet skis and other vessels that fail to respect safety rules on beaches. The Guardia Civil has announced that it has intensified its work ahead of summer and that special measures will be put in place for key days. Serrano, accompanied by the Head of Local Police in San Roque, met with the temporary Head of the Guardia Civil in Algeciras and with the Head Captain of La Línea’s Guardia Civil
Unit. The meeting was used to discuss various issues linked to safety in the municipality; however it focused on the issue of beaches. The councillor highlighted the fact that some jet skis and other recreational vessels do not respect safety regulations on beaches. This makes it necessary to have a greater Guardia Civil presence in order to avoid dangerous situations for bathers. Torreguadiaro is one of the hot spots for this problem. The Head of the police unit explained that there are special measures. This means that beaches in the municipality will have Guardia Civil measures in place, both on land and sea. Furthermore, surveillance will be increased throughout the entire summer season on San Roque’s beaches.

La Red de Bibliotecas de San Roque ha puesto en marcha, por octavo año consecutivo, la Biblioteca Móvil en la playa de Torreguadiaro. Los usuarios que lo deseen podrán acercarse a uno de los módulos instalados frente a los aparcamientos para hacer uso de este servicio, que pone a su alcance varios centenares ejemplares de libros y otras publicaciones para todo tipo de gustos y en varios idiomas. La teniente de alcalde delegada de Bibliotecas, Dolores Marchena, comentó que “este punto de lectura va a estar abierto hasta el próximo 11 de septiembre”. “Pretendemos -continuó- hacer pasar un rato agradable a los visitantes de la playa de Torreguadiaro, tanto a los turistas como a los sanroqueños y sanroqueñas.
Y todo ello combinando cultura y literatura. En este caso hemos querido dar un paso más, y en esta Biblioteca Móvil vamos a contar con información turística de todo el municipio, con lo que también colaboraremos a la dinamización del consumo en San Roque y en cada una de sus barriadas”, concluyó. Este servicio funcionará en horario de 11.00 a 13.30 horas. La Biblioteca Móvil cuenta con alrededor de 300 títulos destina-
dos a todas las edades y gustos. Existen libros infantiles, manuales prácticos, novelas, revistas y una gran variedad de temas que resultarán de gran interés para pasar un rato agradable. El personal encargado de la Biblioteca Móvil estará a disposición de los ciudadanos para facilitar cualquier título que no se encuentre en este punto de lectura y sí en cualquier sucursal de la Red de Bibliotecas de San Roque.

This service will run from 11:00 until 13:30. The Mobile Library will have roughly 300 titles suited for all ages and tastes. There are children’s books, practical manuals, novels, magazines and a wide variety of other interesting topics to help towards having a pleasurable day out. The staff in charge of the Mobile Library will be available to help citizens find any titles that are not stocked in the reading points but can be found in another branch of the San Roque Network of Libraries.

La Laguna de Torreguadiaro es un enclave protegido por el Plan Especial de Protección del Medio Físico y de gran valor tanto por su posición, a nivel medioambiental y de paso migratorio de aves, como sentimental por los vecinos de la zona por ser uno de los mayores valores naturales de los que goza la zona. En este foto reportaje se muestran varias las deficiencias que presenta, en plena temporada de verano y no es algo espontáneo de este año, la ruta de pasarelas y paneles informativos que recorren la laguna.
Situada entre el Puerto de Sotogrande y Torreguadiaro, con dos hectáreas de extensión, cuenta con un gran valor ecológico como lugar de descanso y de orientación para miles de aves que desarrollan en este cana sus rutas migratorias. Desde hace bastante tiempo, vecinos de la zona vienen protestando por el estado de este y del paseo que recorre el recinto, frecuentado por multitud de personas que se multiplica llegada la época estival. El mal aspecto (guías rotas, zonas sin acotar, vegetación descuidada,
paneles destrozados, etc) llama la atención un verano más. Entre estas diferencias se encuentra la responsabilidad de su conservación. Desde hace años los vecinos reclaman actuaciones a la Consejería de Medio Ambiente de la Junta que deriva a la Demarcación de Costas por encontrarse en el Dominio Público Marítimo Terrestre. Tanto el año pasado como anteriores, se ha planteado la necesidad de acometer mejoras pero éstas siguen sin llegara de una u otra administración.
Torreguadiaro Lagoon, an asset for everyone Torreguadiaro Lagoon is an area that is protected under the Special Plan for Environmental Protection. It is highly important due to its position within the environment, and for the migration of birds. It also holds huge sentimental value for residents in the area as it is one of the greatest natural assets enjoyed by the zone. This photo report shows several of the deficiencies evident on the walkway route and the information panels that are found around the lagoon. Located between the Port of Sotogrande and Torreguadiaro, over a two hectare area, the lagoon plays an ecological role of great importance, acting as a resting place and guiding spot for thousands of birds whose migratory routes run along this area. For quite some time now, residents in the area have been
protesting about the state of the area and the walkway that runs around the enclosure, that is used by many people, especially when the summer arrives and visitor numbers multiply. The shabby appearance (broken guide ropes, areas that have not been cordoned off, vegetation lacking care, destroyed panels, etc.) stands out once again this summer. Responsibility for conservation needs to be taken to remedy these problems. For years, residents have been calling for action from Regional Department of the Environment or the Coastal Authorities as the area is part of the State’s Land and Territorial Waters, Last year, as well as in previous years, the need for improvements was proposed but neither administration has set about carrying them out.

El avistamiento de cetáceos y espectaculares especies marinas en el Estrecho de Gibraltar, una experiencia única en el entorno. Las visitas se convierten en todo un reclamo para turistas en la comarca Un lugar único. A tan sólo unos minutos de Sotogrande se encuentra uno de las parajes más espectaculares que existen en el mundo: el Estrecho de Gibraltar. Un enclave natural en el que además de ser el único canal de comunicación entre el Oceáno Atlático y el Mar Mediterráneo, sirve de lugar de paso (y en algunos casos hogar) de varias especies marinas cuyo avistamiento,
además de todo un lujo y un espectáculo, es una ciencia en el Campo de Gibraltar. En el Estrecho de Gibraltar confluyen las placas tectónicas Euroasiática y Afriacana, además de la fuerte influencia de los vientos Poniente (Oeste) y Levante (Este). Con una longitud de 60 kilómetros entre los ejes Punta Europa – Punta Almina y Cabo Trafalgar-Espartel; el Estre-
cho cuenta con una anchura que va desde los 44 kilómetros hasta los 14, el punto más cercano entre los dos contintentes: de Tarifa a Punta Cires. A “Famtrip” organised by the company Turamares Tarifas, the Tourism Board of the Provincial Cadiz Branch, and various bodies who collaborate, allows professionals from the sector to discover the experience for free.
It is a unique place, just a few minutes from Sotogrande you can find one the most spectacular natural spots in the world: the Strait of Gibraltar. This natural spot is the only channel of communication between the Atlantic Ocean and the Mediterranean Sea. However, it also acts as a stopover place (and in some cases home) to several marine species.
The sighting of these species, in addition to being a real treat and spectacle, is a science in Campo de Gibraltar. The Strait of Gibraltar is the meeting point for the Eurasian and African plates; it is also strongly influenced by Western and Eastern winds. It is 60 kilometres long between the Europa Point-Almina Point and Cape Trafalgar-Spartel;
the Stretch has a width that ranges between 44 and 14 kilometres, the closest point between the two continents: Tarifa to Point Cires. The experience of seeing cetaceans in the Strait with the help of different operators is a unique attraction to the area and has great appeal for both tourists and residents. Discovering, guessing at, identifying and being surprised
at every sighting amounts to an enriching and fun experience that is very highly recommended. There are four resident species that are mainly found in the Strait: dolphins, striped dolphins, bottlenose dolphins and longfinned pilot whales. However, depending on the season, you can enjoy catching sight of orcas, sperm whales and the impressive
rorqual whales, the second largest cetaceans in the world, that were spotted during Periódico de Sotogrande’s visit to the area. It is an unforgettable experience, just a few minutes from Sotogrande, that allows participants to be transported into a marine world, and see wildlife in the Strait as they never could imagine.

Informe Sotogrande afronta la temporada de verano con altas expectativas turísticas • El desarrollo del mes de mayo deja un buen balance en el segmento hotelero con cifras superiores al 70% de ocupación y superiores para agosto. • Los diferentes niveles del sector servicios son optimistas con el tramo principal del calendario las próximas semanas 1 Manuel Gil
El verano arranca con fuerza en Sotogrande y con optimistas previsiones en todos los segmentos de negocio tras un positivo comienzo de la temporada y un hasta ahora aceptable volumen turístico desde finales del mes de junio y principios del mes de julio. Unas cifras medias algo superiores al 70% de ocupación media hotelera en la zona, con altos picos en los fines de semana, adelantan unos buenos datos con el calendario a punto
de afrontar las semanas más ‘calientes’ de la temporada. El sector turístico y servicios (hotelero, restauración, comercios,…) ven con buenos ojos este comienzo del verano y hacen crecer las expectativas cara a la zona central entre los meses de julio y agosto. En cuanto al Hotel Almenara Sotogrande afronta esta recta final del mes de julio con un balance global de ocupación algo superior al 70%, lo que son datos similiares a
los del pasado curso o incluso por encima, tomando de referencia varios repuntes logrados los fines de semana. Entre sus previsiones de reserva se encuentra alcanzar por encima del 80% durante el mes de agosto, lo que sería un incremento considerable en este sentido y referencia respecto a ejercicios anteriores. También cuenta con buen volumen de salidas en los campos de golf que crecen considerablemente con la llegada del mes de agosto y los numerosos torneos comerciales que acoge el resort. Un caso parecido en cuanto al volumen de ocupación alcanza el NH Sotogrande. Con un mes de julio con cifras medias cercanas al 65% de ocupación hace un balance positivo, teniendo en cuenta que en más de un fin de semana, incluyendo el próximo de la Festividad del Carmen, alcanza el 100% de visitas. Una cifra media que tiene previsto
superar llegando a rozar el 80% de reservas para el mes de agosto. Aunque se está dando un factor, de denominador común, como son las reservas de última hora. En ambos hoteles, al igual que en resto del sector durante la temporada de verano, el perfil del visitante se centra en el público nacional. El Hotel Club Marítima de Sotogrande también contempla unos positivos registros en este inicio de la temporada alta. Alcanzando el 80% de ocupación durante este mes de julio; una cota que no abandonará según las previsiones de reservas durante todo el verano, llegando incluso a sumar algún punto más durante el mes de agosto con las visitas no contempladas aún. Respecto a otros de los principales centros hoteleros en la zona, The Suites at San Roque Club, llega también a un nivel de ocupación media de un 70%. Si bien estos números bajan a lo largo de
la semana, marca una tendencia fuerte el alto nivel de visitantes en los fines de semana. Una media que tiene previsto mantener a lo largo del mes de agosto e incluso superar la barrera del 75% en las semanas más claves del verano. Otros centros hoteleros del entorno, de menor volumen de ocupación, también registran unos amplios porcentajes de ocupación a estas alturas del verano, con porcentajes casi del 80% de media. Al igual que el importante motor de negocio en la zona que está reportando la hostelería, con restaurantes y bares, tanto en Sotogrande como en puntos muy frecuentados de la zona como Torreguadiaro o los chiringuitos, con un positivo inicio del verano que esperan no se detenga y crezca cara a las semanas más fuertes del calendario hasta finales del mes de agosto.

Sotogrande is heading into the summer season with high expectations for tourism • Development during May has left a very healthy overall picture of the hotel sector with occupancy levels higher than 70%, and due to increase in August. • The different levels of the service sector are optimistic in terms of the main stage of the calendar year over the next few weeks Summer is kicking off strongly in Sotogrande, with an optimistic forecast on all business sectors following a positive start to the season and an acceptable level of tourism since the end of June and at the beginning of July. The average hotel occupancy figures are slightly higher than 70% in the area, peaking strongly at the weekend, and this bodes well for the industry prepares for the “hot” weeks of the season ahead. The tourism and service sector (hotels, restaurants, businesses…) are looking positively on the start to summer and expectations are growing ahead of the key middle stretch between the months of July and August. The Hotel Almenara Sotogrande is heading into the final stretch of the month of July with an overall occupancy level somewhat higher than 70%, similar figures to those of last year, and even slightly higher, taking into account various rises at the weekend. The booking forecasts show that occupancy rates are due to rise above 80% in August, which marks a considerable rise in this regard and in relation to previous years. There are also a good number of players out on the golf courses, and the number will increase considerably with the arrival of August and all of the commercial tournaments that the resort hosts.
It is a similar scenario with the occupancy levels obtained by the NH Sotogrande. Over July the average occupancy levels were close to 65%, painting a
positive overall picture, taking into account that on more than one weekend, including the upcoming Carmen festivities, the hotel is 100% full. This average
figure makes it foreseeable that occupancy levels will come close to 80% for August. However, one other common factor is coming into play, namely, last minute
bookings. In both hotels, as in the rest of the sector, during the summer season, the average visitor profile tends to be Spanish nationals. The Hotel Club Marítima in Sotogrande has also recorded positive records for the start of the high season. It has reached occupancy levels of 80% during July, and the figure is not expected to fall during all of summer. It may even rise slightly during August with visits that have still not been taken into consideration. As regards another of the principal hotels in the area, The Suites at San Roque Club is also reaching an average occupancy level of 70%. Although these figures fall over the course of the week, the high number of visitors at the weekend marks a strong tendency. This average level is expected to be maintained throughout August and may even surpass 75% in key weeks of the summer. Just as the important driving force for business is being reported by the hotel sector, a strong start to summer has also been seen by restaurants and bars in Sotogrande as well as other busy areas such as Torreguadiaro and beach bars. It is hoped that this can be maintained and even improved on ahead of the year’s busiest period towards the end of August.

Pesar en la Comunidad de Sotogrande tras conocer la noticia del fallecimiento en Madrid de Fernando Mínguez, uno de sus vecinos más ilustres y activos en la Urbanización, a la edad de 65 años tras una larga enfermedad. Mínguez, natural de Cádiz, aterrizó en Sotogrande tras ocupar el cargo de Registrador de la Propiedad de San Roque el 12 de mayo 1983. Desde ese momento se involucró en todos los sentidos en la dinámica y actividad de Sotogrande, en la
que residió más de media vida. Fue durante 16 años miembro de la Junta Directiva del Real Club de Golf de Sotogrande, estuvo en el Consejo Gestor del Colegio Internacional de Sotogrande (en el que estudiaron sus hijos), en la Asociación de Parques I y Parques II de la Comunidad de Sotogrande, fue uno de los cinco fundadores del Club Marítimo y durante más de una década presidente del Club de Playa El Octógono. Junto a Diego Puertas y Pepe Gil organizaron las
tradicionales ‘Noche Carnavalesca’ en el club de playa, cada verano. Un ilustre y querido vecino de Sotogrande que desde hace algunos años se trasladó a Madrid, ya que residen 4 de sus hijos y buena parte de al familia de su mujer aunque ha seguido fuertemente vinculado a la Urbanización. Tanto el equipo de Grupo HCP como la Comunidad de Sotogrande se suma al pesar por la pérdida de este comprometido y activo vecino.

Sotogrande in mourning following the death of Fernando Mínguez There was a heavy sense of sorrow in the Community of Sotogrande following the news that Fernando Mínguez, one of the urbanisation’s most eminent and active members, passed away at the age of 65 in Madrid following a long battle with illness. Mínguez, who was born in Cádiz, moved to Sotogrande to carry out the role of the San Roque Property Registrar on 12 May 1983. From then on he played an integral part in the everyday life of Sotogrande,
where he resided for almost half of his life. He was a member of the Real Club de Golf de Sotogrande’s Board of Directors for 16 years, sat on the Administrative Council of the Sotogrande International School (where his two children studied), was a member of the Parks I and II Associations, was one of the five founding members of the Club Marítimo and held the presidency of the Club de Playa El Octógono for more than a decade. Along with Diego
Puertas and Pepe Gil he would organise the traditional ‘Noche Carnavalesca’ (Carnival Night) each year in the beach club. An eminent and much-loved Sotogrande resident, a few years ago he moved to Madrid, where 4 of his children and a large part of his wife’s family live, however, he still had very strong ties to the Urbanisation. Both Grupo HCP and the Community of Sotogrande are in mourning after the loss of this committed and active neighbour.

El II Raid Hípico Luna llena se celebra en Sotogrande el próximo 1 de agosto a partir de las 19:00 horas. Un evento que llega por segundo año a la zona, de la mano de E3, y que discurrirá a lo largo de la playa de Guadalquitón entre Alcaidesa y Sotogrande (en el que tendrá lugar la salida y la meta; junto a Trocadero Sotogrande). El Raid, es una carrera de larga distancia (las hay hasta de 160
Km en un día) a caballo campo a través. No es solo una carrera de velocidad, gana el jinete que llega primero con su caballo en buenas condiciones físicas tras un control veterinario. El hecho de que la carrera se desarrolle en un entorno natural lo convierten en un deporte lleno de emoción y de aventura. Los jinetes recorrerán la playa seis veces desde las 19:00 hasta las 21:30.
El objetivo es dar a conocer este deporte, la prueba que se va a celebrar es un Raid de Iniciación (22,4 km) en una fase. De esta forma, cualquier jinete con unas aptitudes medias puede participar en la carrera. El coste de la inscripción será de 20 € para jinetes federados y de 45 € para aquellos a los que haya que federar para su participación en la prueba.

Sotogrande holds the II Full Moon Equine Endurance Event on 1 August The II Full Moon Equine Endurance Event will be held in Sotogrande on 1 August beginning at 7pm. The E3 organised event makes its way to the area for the second year running, and will take place across the Guadalquitón beach between Alcaidesa and Sotogrande (where the starting point and finishing line will be located; next to Trocadero Sotogrande). The Endurance Event is a long-distance cross-country race (as far as 160 km in one day). Victory will not just be measured on who finishes quickest, but rather it will be the rider who crosses the line first with their horse still
in good physical condition following veterinary exam who will be declared the winner. By virtue of the race taking place in a natural environment, the occasion becomes even more highly charged and thrilling. The riders traverse the beach six times from 7pm until 9:30pm. With the aim of increasing the profile of the sport, the one-stage test being held is the Initiation Endurance Race (22.4 km). As such, any rider with a basic level of skill can enter the race. The cost of inscription is €20 for federation affiliated riders and €45 for those who need to join a federation in order to compete in the test.

zona que un verano más acuden a disfrutar de ellas. El Valle del Guadiaro se puede regocijar de contar con varias playas, las cuales son muy visitadas tanto por residentes como por los nu-
merosos turistas que acuden a Sotogrande cada verano. El estado de las playas para los usuarios, según el sondeo de opinión, es magnífico, y para algún vecino contamos con auténticos paraísos. Aunque todo
puede ser mejorable como se palpa en la encuesta. Habilitar un mayor número de zonas de aparcamiento, mejores accesos para personas discapacitadas, más vigilancia por parte de soco-
rristas y policías, la problemática de los perros, así como aumentar la cantidad de papeleras son varias de las sugerencias que se extraen tras el sondeo realizado por El Periódico de Sotogrande.

Also, in terms of dog excrement, we need more civic responsibility from dog owners who should carry bags to pick up waste. It wouldn’t be a bad idea to have a zone for dog walking”.

Se llevó a cabo en Puerto Sotogrande, junto a la Torre de Control, el protocolario acto institucional para izar la Bandera Azul que lucirá durante este verano, un año mas, el Puerto Deportivo de Sotogrande en su categoría de puertos. Un galardón que reconoce la labor y certificados de calidad y servicios con lo que ejecuta su gestión, las cuales se encuentran dentro del marco de respeto por el medio ambiente que requiere como mínimo la agencia que otorga este distintivo. Un cita en el que estuvieron presentes las principales autoridades a nivel municipal, de entidades representativas vinculadas al puerto y responsables del propio Puerto de Sotogrande. Tras un acto de bienvenida, los representantes municipales en compañía de

The Port of Sotogrande now has its Blue Flag flying for summer The formal institutional ceremony to raise the Blue Flag has been carried out in the Port of Sotogrande, where once again this year, the Sporting Marina in Sotogrande will fly the flag during summer, for the ports category. The award recognises the work and certificates for quality and services that the port uses for its management, that come under the framework for environmental respect that are a minimum requisite for the agency who gives the award.
The ceremony was also attended by the main municipal level authorities, by representative bodies that are linked to the port and the people who are in charge of the Port of Sotogrande itself. After a welcome ceremony, the municipal representatives accompanied by Miguel Ángel Díez, raised the Blue Flag. Both Díez and the mayor of San Roque, Juan Carlos Ruiz Boix, expressed their gratitude to those present and recognised the work and high management quality of
the Port that allows it receive such kinds of awards. The event was also used as a chance to award, once more this year, the 9001 and 14000 Quality Certificates. The 8th edition of the charity bazaar for the Fundación Esperanza y Alegría, to take place on 7 August As is now traditional every summer, the El Octógono Beach Club will host a charity bazaar for the Fundación Esperanza y Alegría, now in its 8th edition. It has been organized to raise funds and finance projects in India and Spain. The event will take place next Friday 7 August, between 11am and 8pm. Throughout the day it will be possible to buy different crafts and decorative items at the stands, as well as objects made from gold, silver and bronze, clothing, bags, jewels, costume jewellery and all kinds of accessories that are typical of India, many made in workshops the Foundation finances in India, that support women and promote justice and equality.

El Pabellón Polideportivo del Valle del Guadiaro se inauguró este martes, 7 de julio, en Pueblo Nuevo. Una obra con un coste total de alrededor de un millón y medio de euros, incluyendo también el acondicionamiento de la zona exterior. El alcalde, Juan Carlos Ruiz Boix, presidió la inauguración acompañado de miembros de la Corporación y el subdelegado de la Junta de Andalucía en la comarca, Ángel Gavino. Una subvención de la Junta de Andalucía, además de la aportación Municipal, artífices de la financiación del proyecto. El acto comenzó con el corte de cinta inaugural y el descubrimiento de la placa conmemorativa, a lo que siguió un breve discurso del alcalde explicando los detalles
desde el inicio de la obra. Asegurando que se encuentra dentro de su compromiso por llevar el deporte a todas las zonas del municipio y destacó que el polideportivo no tiene un nombre para asignado, por lo que espera “la colaboración de colectivos del Valle del Guadiaro y que sean sus propios vecinos los que designen un nombre”. Por su parte, el concejal de Deportes, Antonio Navas, señaló que el pabellón abrirá de manera gratuita hasta el mes de septiembre, e informó de que el plazo para optar al servicio de mantenimiento integral de los campos de fútbol municipales finalizará el 13 de julio, por lo que animó a las empresas a participar en el concurso.
Seguidamente se disputó un partido de fútbol sala de exhibición entre jugadores de las categorías inferiores del CD Guadiaro, con el que finalizó el acto. Para el nuevo pabellón, el anterior Equipo de Gobierno municipal pudo relanzar los trabajos comprometiendo a una UTE (unión temporal de empresas) encabezada por Masfalt, que ejecutó la obra con un presupuesto de 1,2 millo-
nes de euros. Luego se acometió la instalación del firme de la pista polideportiva (baloncesto, balonmano, fútbol sala…), así como lo relativo a los gimnasios, por un importe inicial de unos 100.000 euros. Todo ello se finalizó durante 2014. En segundo lugar, hubo que acometer los trabajos relativos a la urbanización de la zona (saneamiento, alumbrado…), para cuya
financiación hubo que aprobar en marzo en Pleno una modificación del Plan de Inversiones 2015. El nuevo pabellón cubre una superficie de unos 1.400 metros cuadrados, y consta de tres partes diferenciadas. Por un lado, la pista deportiva, con sus correspondientes graderíos, almacenes y aseos. Además, otra zona también cubierta, en la que se encuentran dos vestuarios, dos despachos de monitores, enfermería, zona de instalaciones (por ejemplo, contraincendios) y dos salas de actividades deportivas (gimnasio, danza, yoga…). Y, finalmente, una zona al aire libre donde se ubican dos pistas de pádel y una zona de encuentro de los deportistas.
The Valle del Guadiaro Sports Centre opens its doors in Pueblo Nuevo The facilities in the sports centre include a covered swimming pool, two multi-purposes rooms and two padel tennis courts. The Valle del Guadiaro Sports Centre was opened on Tuesday, 7 July, in Pueblo Nuevo. The project cost roughly one and half million euros, a price that also included refurbishments to the outdoor area. The mayor, Juan Carlos Ruiz Boix, presided over the inauguration alongside members of the Board of Directors and the regional assistant delegate of the Government of Andalusia, Ángel Gavino. The project was financed with a grant from the Government of Andalusia, as well as with help from the Municipality. The ceremony began with the inaugural cutting of the ribbon and the unveiling of a commemorative plaque, which was followed up with a short speech by the mayor in which he outlined the details of the project from its inception. Backing up his commitment to bring sport within the reach of everyone living in the municipality, he pointed out that the sports centre has not been assigned a name yet, as it
is awaiting “the collaboration of groups from Valle del Guadiaro so it is the neighbours who choose the name”. For his part, the Sports councillor, Antonio Navas, stated that the centre will open its doors free of charge until September, and explained that the deadline to bid for the maintenance contract for the upkeep of the municipality’s football pitches is 13 July, for which he encouraged businesses to participate in the bidding process. Immediately afterwards an exhibition futsal game was played amongst CD Guadiaro’s under-age categories, which drew a close to the event. In order to build the new centre, the previous municipal Government was able to restart construction by calling on a temporary consortium that was headed by Masfalt, who carried out the work with a budget of €1.2 million. Afterwards, asphalt was placed down for the multi-purpose court (basket-
ball, hand ball, futsal), as well as the gymnastic installations, for the initial cost of €100,000. All of this work was completed in 2014. Secondly, work needed to be undertaken with regards to the zone’s urbanisation (sanitation, illumination…), the financing of which had to be approved during a plenary session in March concerning the modification of the 2015 Investment Plan. The new sports centre covers an area of 1,400 square metres, and is divided into three different areas. On one side is the sport court, which includes stands, storehouses and lavatories. There is also another covered zone, where there are two changing rooms, two offices for the monitors, a nurse’s office, a facilities area (e.g. fire prevention apparatus) and two sports activity rooms (gymnastics, dancing, yoga…). And, finally, an outdoor area with two padel tennis courts and a meeting point for athletes.

trabajar conjuntamente para conseguir la urbanización del nuevo hospital. Resultado del encuentro, celebrado en La Línea, entre los diferentes núcleos a los que influye el Nuevo centro sanitario. Por el Ayuntamiento de San Roque, participaron en la reunión el alcalde, Juan Carlos Ruiz Boix, y la concejal de Sanidad, María Teresa Benítez. Convocó el primer edil linense, Juan Franco, y al encuentro también asistieron el alcalde de Jimena de la Frontera, Pascual Collado, y la teniente alcalde de Castellar de la Frontera, Paloma Delgado. La urbanización del nuevo hospital, ubicado en La Línea, fue el
tema principal. Las obras de construcción del edificio están previstas que finalicen el próximo mes de octubre, según ha anunciado la Junta de Andalucía. Las obras de urbanización del nuevo centro suponen un coste de tres millones de euros que debe asumir el Consistorio linense según el convenio firmado en el año 2005, por el entonces alcalde de la localidad Juan Carlos Juárez. Ruiz Boix señaló que “resulta muy relevante que hayamos acudido a esta reunión todos los responsables de las localidades del área de influencia del nuevo hospital. Para conseguir que que las obras del edificio y la urbanización se
finalicen conjuntamente.”. “La intención es aunar esfuerzos ya que lo más importante es que las obras del hospital se concluyan en su totalidad y se pongan lo más pronto posible al servicio de los usuarios de los cuatro municipios”, indicó. Por su parte, el alcalde de La Línea, Juan Franco, destacó que ya se había mantenido un primer encuentro con técnicos responsables de la Junta de Andalucía y del SAS para tratar el tema. “La reunión de con los alcaldes del resto de los municipios afectados tiene como objetivo aunar esfuerzos y buscar soluciones, además de la implicación del resto de administraciones para conseguir que el hospital se ponga en funcio-
namiento lo antes posible”, dijo. El alcalde de Jimena de la Frontera, Pascual Collado, señaló que, tras la sorpresa inicial ante los problemas que se habían encontrado para urbanizar el nuevo
hospital, lo fundamental es trabajar conjuntamente, entre todas las administraciones para poner el centro hospitalario en funcionamiento en el menor plazo de tiempo posible.

The Jimena de la Frontera mayor, Pascual Collado, pointed out that, following the initial surprise at the problems involved with developing the hospital, it is vital that all the administrations work together so that the medical centre is up and running in as short a time as possible.

Nuevo régimen fiscal de las daciones en pago de la vivienda habitual Luis Babiano Abogados / Lawyers Sotogrande
Con motivo de la tremenda crisis económica que lleva sufriendo nuestro país desde hace varios años muchas familias se han visto en la imposibilidad de hacer frente a los préstamos con garantía hipotecaria sobre la vivienda habitual. La situación que se les planteaba a estas familias era tremenda porque, aparte de perder su vivienda habitual, sufrían las siguientes consecuencias: 1
Por lo general, y debido también a la concomitante crisis inmobiliaria, el valor de la vivienda hipotecada no era suficiente para cubrir el préstamo y sus intereses. Esto motivaba que, además de perder la vivienda habitual de la familia, el deudor seguía estando obligado con la entidad financiera por la parte del préstamo e intereses no cubiertos por el valor de la vivienda. Además, cuando la persona que no podía hacer frente a la hipoteca de su vivienda habitual pactaba con el banco una dación en pago cancelando la deuda a costa de la entrega de la misma, se producía un coste fiscal consistente en el pago del impuesto sobre el incremento de valor de los terrenos de naturaleza urbana (la llamada plusvalía municipal).Finalmente y como en casi todas las ocasiones la deuda que se perdonaba por la entrega de la vivienda era superior al valor de adquisición de la propia vivienda, se originaba un incremento patrimonial que debía tributar en el Impuesto sobre la Renta de las Personas Físicas. Imagínense ustedes por tanto la situación: la persona que pierde su vivienda sigue siendo deudora al banco por la diferencia entre el importe de la deuda y el valor de la
vivienda. Sí, para evitar esta situación, el deudor pactaba con el banco la entrega de la vivienda tenía que hacer frente a dos nuevos impuestos de cuantías ciertamente importantes. El primer problema, el de seguir debiendo al banco la diferencia entre el importe del deuda y valor de vivienda, hace ya algún tiempo que se solucionó por el Real Decreto Ley 6/2012, de 9 de marzo en el sentido de que, cumpliendo ciertos requisitos, la entrega de la vivienda significaba la cancelación total de la deuda. Pero los otros dos problemas no han sido resueltos hasta hace poco, concretamente a partir del 5 de julio de 2014. A partir de esta fecha y con efectos retroactivos, ya no hay que satisfacer la llamada plusvalía municipal ni el incremento patrimonial gravado por el Impuesto sobre la Renta de las Personas Físicas. En cuanto a esto último porque la disposición adicional trigésimo sexta de la Ley del Impuesto sobre la Renta de las Personas Físicas manifiesta que estará exenta de este Impuesto la ganancia patrimonial que se pudiera generar en los deudores comprendidos en el ámbito de aplicación del Real Decreto Ley 6/2012 de 9 de marzo, antes mencionado, de medidas urgentes de protección de deudores hipotecarios sin recursos , con ocasión de la dación en pago de su vivienda prevista en el apartado 3 del Anexo de dicha norma. En consecuencia, y para que esta exención sea aplicable tienen que reunirse las dos condiciones siguientes: 1.Que la dación en pago afecte a la vivienda habitual, considerándose como tal según lo dispuesto en la Disposición Adicional vigésima tercera, aquella en la que el contri-
buyente resida durante un plazo continuado de tres años . No obstante, se entenderá que la vivienda tuvo aquel carácter cuando, a pesar de no haber transcurrido dicho plazo, concurran circunstancias que necesariamente exijan el cambio de vivienda, tales como celebración de matrimonio, separación matrimonial, traslado laboral, obtención de primer empleo o de empleo más ventajoso u otras análogas. Cuando la vivienda hubiera sido habitada de manera efectiva y permanente por el contribuyente en el plazo de doce meses, contados a partir de la fecha de adquisición o terminación de las obras, el plazo de tres años previsto en el párrafo anterior se computará desde esta última fecha. 2.Que el contribuyente no disponga de otros bienes o derechos en cuantía suficiente para satisfacer la totalidad de la deuda en los términos anteriormente expresados. Algo similar ocurre también para exonerarse del pago del impuesto sobre el incremento de valor de los terrenos de naturaleza urbana, siendo los requisitos los siguientes: 1.Que ningún miembro de la unidad familiar dispongan de otros bienes o derechos suficientes para satisfacer la deuda 2.Que el deudor haya figurado empadronado en la vivienda de forma ininterrumpida durante al menos los dos años anteriores a la entrega de la vivienda o desde su adquisición si dicho plazo fuese inferior a los citados dos años. Por último hay que destacar que esta regulación tiene efectos retroactivos y que si alguna persona ha procedido al pago de los dos impuestos que estamos mencionando, puede solicitar su devolución mediante el correspondiente expediente de devolución de ingresos indebidos.
New fiscal regime for assignments of payment for habitual places of residence New fiscal regime for assignments of payment for habitual places of residence As a result of the terrible financial crisis our country has been going through over the last few years, many families have found it impossible to cope with the mortgage loans they have secured on their main residences. The situation these families found themselves in was awful because, as well as losing their homes, they also suffered the following consequences: In general, and on account of the associated property market crisis, the value of the mortgaged home was often not great enough to cover the cost of the loan and the resulting interest. This meant that, as well as losing the main family home, the debtor was still obliged to pay back the financial institution for the loan and the accumulated interest not covered by the property’s market value. Additionally, when the person who could no longer cope with the mortgage repayments on their main home agreed to an assignment of payment with the bank to cancel the debt at the cost of property itself, it resulted in a fiscal cost consistent with a tax payment on the increased value of urban land (known as municipal capital gains).
Finally, and in almost all of these cases, the debt that was written off in exchange for the property was greater than the original value of the home, stemming from an Income Tax increase. Imagine yourselves in that position: the person who loses their home remains in debt to the bank for the difference of the cost of the debt and the value of the property. Indeed, in order to avoid this situation, the debtor would have agreed to hand over the property to the bank and then would have had to deal with two new and substantial taxes. The first problem, that of remaining in debt to the bank for the difference of the cost of the debt and the value of the property, was for some time resolved by the Royal Decree Law 6/2012 of 8 March, with the idea being that by complying with certain requirements, the handing back of the property meant the complete cancelation of the debt. But the other two problems had not been resolved until quite recently, 5 July 2014 to be precise. Since that date, and with retroactive effects, there is now no need to succumb to municipal capital gains or the capital increase resulting from Income Tax. In relation to this last point, because the thirty-sixth
additional provision of the Income Tax Law states that the capital gains tax debtors would have accumulated within the scope of the aforementioned Royal Decree-Law 6/2012 of 9 March, will now be exempt using urgent measures to protect mortgage borrowers without resources during the assignment of payment of their homes under paragraph 3 of this rule’s Annex. As a consequence, and to ensure that this exemption is applied, the following two conditions must be met: 1.The assignment of payment affects the main home, considered as such in accordance with Additional Provision twenty-three, that in which the taxpayer resides continuously for a period of three years. However, the property will be considered to meet this criteria when, despite not reaching that period of time, circumstances demand that a change of home is required, such as marriage, the separation of a married couple, work relocation, obtaining a first job or a more advantageous job arising or anything akin to that. The period of three years outlined in the previous paragraph will be calculated from that date that the property would have been inhabited effectively and permanently by the taxpayer within twelve months, beginning on the purchase date or the completion of construction.

La Virgen del Carmen abre las Fiestas de Torreguadiaro La procesión marinera y la coronación dan el pistoletazo de salida ✑ Redacción
La tradicional procesión marinera de la Virgen del Carmen supone en punto de partida de las Fiestas de Torreguadiaro 2015. Un comienzo que este año se podrujo un día antes con el acto de coronación de la corte infantile en la Plaza Encarnación Sánchez. La corte la forman la reina Marta Bastante y el resto de damas: Nerea Cantera, Angela Marín, Celia Ramirez, Kithy Cuevas y Marina Cantera. El programa para el resto del fin de semana es el siguiente:
El viernes 19 la caseta estará abierta con una Orquesta desde las 23 horas; y el sábado continuarán las fiestas a mediodía con animación infantil en la playa. Ya por la noche, a las 23 horas tendrá lugar la apertura de la caseta municipal. El domingo 19 de julio se celebrará, a partir de las 14:30 horas, la mañana rociera con la tradicional paella popular. Por la noche, a las 21:30 horas se celebrará en la caseta municipal la cena de los mayores, tras lo cual, a las 23
horas, se procederá a la apertura de la caseta municipal, que contará con la actuación de un grupo musical. Llegada la medianoche será el momento esperado de los fuegos artificiales en la playa que pondrán punto y seguido a las fiestas en Torreguadiaro, que despedirá las Fiestas de la Virgen del Carmen de Torreguadiaro hasta el próximo año.

This year, events started a day before with the child entourage coronation ceremony in Plaza Encarnación Sánchez. The entourage was formed by the queen Marta Bastante and the other ladies: Nerea Cantera, Angela Marín, Celia Ramirez, Kithy Cuevas and Marina Cantera. The program for the rest of the week is as follows: On Friday 19 the stall will be open with an Orchestra at 11pm; and on Saturday, festivities will continue at midday
with performances for children on the beach. At night, at 11pm, the municipal stall will be opened. On Sunday 19 July, the Rocío morning will take place from 2.30pm onwards with the traditional communal paella. At night, the dinner for elderly people will take place in the municipal stall at 9.30pm, after which the municipal stall will open at 11pm with a performance from a musical group. At midnight, the eagerly awaited fireworks display will take place on the beach, ending the Torreguadiaro festivities, until the Virgen del Carmen returns next year.

A cien metros del chiringuito, en playa Sotogrande, abre las puertas un nuevo espacio, una zona chill out, con terraza, para disfrutar todo el día de su terraza y maravillosas vistas. Abierto día y noche, este nuevo espacio ofrece helados caseros, café, desayunos, cócteles, bebidas y mucho más.
La Guardia Civil interviene 950 kilos de hachís tras una persecución en la A-7 Agentes de la Guardia Civil detuvieron a dos personas tras recuperar 2 vehículos sustraídos e intervenir 950 kilogramos de hachís, en una persecución que culmina en la A-7 a la altura de Alcaidesa, La actuación tuvo lugar tras producirse un alijo en la zona de levante de La línea de la Concepción, cuando los agentes procedieron a intervenir en el lugar. Tras ello, los vehículos huyeron de la zona siendo perseguidos por las patrullas de la Guardia Civil, los cuales interceptaron uno de los vehículos que huían cuando volcó en la vía de servicio de la A7 a la altura del Km 127. En el vehículo se hallaron 29 fardos de hachís con un total de 950 kg de peso en total. El conductor del mismo se dio a la fuga sien-
do detenido por los agentes que le perseguían. Posteriormente se recuperó el segundo vehículo que también se hallaba sustraído pero sin droga alguna. Tras huir del punto de alijo la embarcación que transportaba la droga, la misma se dirigió hacia el puerto de La Atunara, donde uno de sus ocupantes desembarcó siendo detenido por agentes de la Policía Nacional que había sido alertada por la Guardia Civil del desembarco de ésta persona. Una vez detenida fue puesta a disposición de la Guardia Civil de Guadiaro para su posterior entrega a la Autoridad Judicial. En la intervención participaron agentes de la USECIC, PAFITE de La Línea de la Concepción y Puesto Principal de Guadiaro de la Guardia Civil.

Agents from the Guardia Civil arrested two people after recovering 2 stolen vehicles and seizing 950 kilograms of hashish in a chase that ended on the A-7 close by to Alcaidesa. The operation took place after a drug consignment took place in the eastern part of La Línea de la Concepción, when agents decided to move in on the area. Following that move, the vehicles fled and were followed by Guardia Civil patrols, who intercepted one of the vehicles being chased when if overturned on the A7 service road at the 127th Km. The vehicle was found to contain 29 bundles of hashish weighing a total of 950 kg. The driver of the vehicle fled and was arrested
by agents who chased after him. Subsequently, the second vehicle was recovered, and found to be stolen too, but containing no drugs. After fleeing from the consignment point, the vessel that had carried the drugs headed for the port of La Atunara, where one of its occupants disembarked and was arrested by agents from the National Police who had been alerted by the Guardia Civil about that person’s disembarkation. Once arrested, they were handed over to the Guardia Civil in Guadiaro for subsequent delivery to Judicial Authorities. The operation was carried out by agents from USECIC, PAFITE in La Línea de la Concepción and Guadiaro’s Main Guardia Civil Unit.

El adelanto de la rebaja del IRPF El pasado 11 de julio se publicó en el Boletín Oficial del Estado el Real Decreto-ley de medidas urgentes para reducir la carga tributaria soportada por los contribuyentes del Impuesto sobre la Renta de las Personas Físicas y otras medidas de carácter económico, que recoge el adelanto a este mes de julio de la rebaja del IRPF que estaba prevista para enero de 2016 lo cual, según el Gobierno, es posible porque la evolución de la economía ha sido más positiva de lo esperado y tendrá como consecuencia inmediata el incremento de la liquidez disponible para los contribuyentes a lo largo del segundo semestre de este año. La instrumentalización de esta medida se ha llevado a cabo mediante la aprobación
de una nueva escala general estatal y del ahorro aplicables desde el 1 de enero de 2015 en la que se reducen en medio punto los marginales correspondientes a cada uno de los tramos de las citadas escalas. Con la finalidad de trasladar el incremento de renta disponible a los trabajadores por cuenta ajena, se aprueba una nueva escala de retención aplicable a los rendimientos del trabajo que se abonen a partir del 1 de agosto. Ahora bien, esto no significa que los efectos económicos de la medida se limiten a reducir la carga tributaria de los rendimientos obtenidos a partir de esa fecha, ya que para calcular el nuevo tipo de retención se tiene en cuenta la nueva escala y las retribuciones ob-
tenidas desde el 1 de enero de 2015, lo que determinará que el nuevo tipo de retención sea menor para corregir el exceso de retención soportado en las nóminas correspondientes a los meses anteriores, haciendo de esta forma efectiva la rebaja con efectos desde el 1 de enero de 2015. En cuanto a los trabajadores autónomos, se reduce de forma generalizada el tipo de retención, que queda fijado, cualquiera que sea el nivel de ingresos, en un 15% a partir de la entrada en vigor de este Real Decreto-ley y, durante los tres primeros años de inicio de la actividad profesional, en un 7%. Igualmente, en relación con las rentas del ahorro y otras rentas sujetas a retención, se minora el tipo de retención o
ingreso a cuenta aplicable a partir de la entrada en vigor de este Real Decreto-ley, que queda fijado en el 19,5% frente al 20% actual. Adicionalmente, se declaran exentas las ayudas públicas concedidas por las Comunidades Autónomas o entidades locales para atender a colectivos en riesgo de exclusión social o para atender necesidades de alimentación o escolarización y demás necesidades básicas de menores o personas con discapacidad cuando carezcan de medios económicos suficientes, así como las ayudas y asistencia a las víctimas de delitos violentos y contra la libertad sexual y a víctimas de violencia de género. The bringing forward of the reduction in personal income tax (IRPF) On 11 July, the Official State Bulletin published a Royal Decree-Law taking urgent measures to reduce the tax burden that is borne by people who pay personal income tax (IRPF), and other measures of an economic measure. The Decree-Law brings the reduction of income tax forward to July; it had previously been scheduled to come into effect in January 2016. According to the government, this change has been possible because the economy has developed more positively that was has hoped and the immediate consequence of this will be an increase in liquid funds available to tax payers throu-
ghout the second half of the year. The putting into place of this measure has been carried out through the passing of a new general state level scale and saving that are applicable from 1 January 2015 whereby the marginals corresponding to each one of the stages on the abovementioned scales has been reduced by half a point. In order to carry over the increase in available income to salaried workers, a new deduction scale has been approved, and is applicable to income from work that is earned from 1 August onwards. However, this does not mean that the economic effects of the
measure are limited to reducing the tax burden on income obtained from that date onwards, as in order to calculate the new type of deduction, you need to take into account the new scale and income obtained from 1 January 2014, which will mean that the new deduction rate is reduced is less, in order to correct the excess of deduction on payslips corresponding to previous months, and this makes the reduction effective from 1 January 2015. As for freelance workers, the deduction rate has been reduced on a general level, and is now set at 15%, for any type of earnings from the date this new Royal De-
cree-Law comes into effect, and during the first three years following the start of professional activity, the rate is set at 7%. Equally, in relation to savings income and other income that is subject to deduction, the deduction rate or payment into an account applicable is also reduced from the date that the Royal Decree-Law comes into effect; it is now set at 19.5% as opposed to the current 20%. Additionally, there is exemption for public aid given by Autonomous Communities or local bodies that is targeted at helping groups at risk of social exclusion or meeting the eating and schooling requirements and
other basic needs of minors or disabled people when they lack financial resources. Exemption is also provided financial assistance and support for victims of violent crimes, crimes against sexual freedom, and victims of gender based violence. Art Marbella, el centro del arte este verano 1 Redacción
Art Marbella celebra este año su primera edición del 30 de julio al 3 de agosto en el Palacio de Ferias, Congresos y Exposiciones de Marbella. Una feria internacional compuesta por cerca de 40 galerías entre las que se encuentran varias de referencia internacional, como la brasileña Baró Galeria, la italiana FL Gallery, la londinense Narrative Projects, la portuguesa Filomena Soares y algunas de la galerías españolas más importantes. El comisario portugués Bruno Leitao se ocupará de mostrar la escena artística portuguesa y madrileña a través de los proyectos Portugal, Contact Zone y New Madrid.
Cuenta con una fuerte presencia española, las galerías madrileñas: Espacio Mínimo, Max Estrella ó F2 Galería. También estarán presentes Alarcon Criado de Sevilla; Michel Mejuto y Carreras Mugica de Bilbao; ó Galería Pelaires de Palma de Mallorca. Las galerías europeas que formarán parte de Art Marbella se completan con las portuguesas Filomena Soares y Carlos Carvalho; las italianas Opere Scelte y FL Gallery; la inglesa Narrative Projects y la francesa Mark Hachem. Dispone de un espacio dedicado a los instituciones en el que estarán el Museo de Arte Contemporáneo Antonio Domínguez de Haro de Granada y Art Slant.
Art Marbella rendirá homenaje en su primera edición al artista francés de origen húngaro, Nicolas Schöffer, considerado el padre del arte cibernético. Su atelier ha organizado una exposición, comisariada por Rolando Carmona, que mostrará piezas inéditas en España del considerado como uno de los maestros precursores del video arte. Los visitantes de la feria se encontrarán durante el recorrido con un pequeño espacio dedicado a la vertiente artística del actor Jordi Mollá y el deportista olímpico Hubertus von Hohenlohe, uno de los hijos dilectos de la Ciudad de Marbella. La música deja un fin de semana para soñar con el X Festival de Jimena Gran éxito del X Festival Interncional de Música de Jimena, celebrado a lo largo de cuatro intensas jornadas en diferentes enclaves del municipio, que convirtió en centro cultural y musical a la ciudad en todo el entorno. Cuatro citas llenas de color, magia y mucha música que disfrutaron los vecinos y muchos visitantes que quisieron asistir a los conciertos de Jimena. El festival comenzó con el bridge Quartet de Londres, la orqusta joven de Jimena y la orquesta de cámara Coda y la gran aparicion y participacion del coro de kenia de Nairobi, Nairobi Chamber Chorus, dejando en absoluto silencio el patio y claustro del Santuario de nuesra Señora Reina de los Ángeles. El viernes se celebró el homenaje al guitarrista algecireño Paco de Lucía. El gran guitarrista Salvador Andrades hizo alarde de todo su arte a la guitarra; le acompañaron Chico Valdivia, al
piano y Raúl Salcedo a la percusión. El grupo de baile Arte y Compás, con Macarena Andrades y Felipe de Algeciras derrocharon energía y arte durante su actuación. Mara Delgado y Luisa Andrades, también intervinieron en el acto. En la jornada del sábado, el Castillo de Jimena de la Frontera acogió con éxito las actuaciones con esa imagen del castillo de fondo; un marco sin duda incomparable. Actuaron: la mezzo soprano Pippa Dames Longworth, el Coro de Nairobi, el espectacular baile de Lucia Alvarez “la Piñona”, la gran musica del Bridge Quartet y Salvador Andrades a la guitarra y poniendo broche de oro el invitado de honor José de Canela. El festival se cerró el domingo en la Plaza de la Constitución con la actuación de los grupos jóvenes ‘Pro Pane Lucrando’ y ‘Compás Flamenco’.

During its inaugural edition Art Marbella will pay tribute to the Hungarian-born French artist Nicola Schöffer, who is widely considered to be the forefather of cybernetic art. His atelier has put together an exhibition, curated by Rolando Carmona, which will display ‘never before seen’ pieces in Spain that were made by a man considered to be one of the pioneers of video art. Tras retirarse en la segunda ronda del Open de Francia de Golf, por dolencias en el codo, Álvaro Quirós confirmó al European Tour que no jugaría el Open de Escocia, abirendo así un periodo de descanso para recuperarse física y mentalmente, según asegura el medio especializado Ten Golf. El portal, en el que el golfista guadiareño cuenta con un blog propio, asegura que se encuentra con el “el ánimo tocado por la ausencia pro-
longada de resultados”, al no lograr fructificar en competiciones el esfuerzo y trabajo de preparación y entrenamientos. De sus últimos nueve torneos solo en tres ha conseguido pasar el corte. Dicha situación y las molestias del codo habrían llevado a Quirós a tomarse este “respiro” aunque su duación sera corta ya que tiendría previsto su vuelta para el Omega European Masters y el torneo match play de Paul Lawrie,
la semana siguiente. El plano del guadiareño sería hacer de Nuevo un parón de cerca de un mes para volver de nuevo a la competición en el KLM Open de Holanda, del 10 al 13 de septiembre.

Álvaro Quirós takes a quick breather to recapture his best form After pulling out during the second round of the French Golf Open because of problems with his elbow, Álvaro Quirós told the European Tour that he will not be participating in the Scottish Open, and will thereby be taking time off to recover both physically and mentally, according the specialist media outlet Ten Golf. The website, in which the Guadiaro golfer writes his own blog, describes Quirós mood as “affected because of a long spell without good results”, as he had not been able to convert his hard work from training into success in competitions. From the last nine tournaments he has taken part in he has only managed to make the cut on three occasions.
This situation and the problems with his elbow have led Quirós to take this “break” although it will only be for a short while as he already expects to be back in time for the Omega European Masters as well as Paul Lawrie’s match play tournament the following week. The Guadiaro native’s plan is to then rest up for close to a month in order to return to competitive play once again in the KLM Open in the Netherlands, between 10 and 13 September.

El III Triatlón San Roque se celebrará el próximo mes de septiembre Esta nueva edición volverá a discurrir por Sotogrande y por Puerto Sotogrande, en su tramo a nado ✑ M. Gil / Redacción
El próximo 13 de septiembre se celebrará el III Triatlón San Roque, que incluirá una fiesta deportiva en la playa el sábado 12. La Delegación de Deportes ya está preparando esta prueba atlética de resistencia, que combina las disciplinas de natación, ciclismo y carrera a pie, y que tanto éxito tuvo en las dos pasadas ediciones. Así, Deportes ha mantenido reuniones con representantes de Puerto Deportivo Sotogrande y de la Entidad Urbanística de Conservación Parques de Sotogrande, dos de los inestimables colaboradores del Ayuntamiento
en este proyecto. Las fechas seleccionadas para la prueba son las del fin de semana del 12 y 13 de septiembre: el
sábado se celebrará una fiesta deportiva en la playa con varias actividades lúdicas y deportivas; y el domingo 13
tendrá lugar el triatlón en sí. Una vez más los recorridos transcurrirán por la urbanización Sotogrande, y el tra-
mo a nado se realizará en el Puerto Deportivo de Sotogrande. Próximamente se presentará el cartel y díptico oficial de la prueba. Un total de 219 deportistas participaron en junio del año pasado en el II Triatlón de San Roque, una prueba que tuvo como vencedores absolutos a Chris Walker (de Hércules Triatlón) y a Loreto Pastor. Se logró un gran éxito de público, que disfrutó de la espectacularidad de esta prueba. El nivel de dificultad era medio-bajo. La distancia a nado fue de 750 metros, en bicicleta de 20 kilómetros y la carrera a pie de 5 kilómetros.

soon. A total of 219 athletes took part in the II San Roque Triathlon in June last year, and the overall winners were Chris Walker (in the Hercules Triathlon) and Loreto Pastor. The event was a big success with the general public who enjoyed the spectacle of the event. The difficultly level was medi-

Destacar la gran actuación de la guadiareña de SIGA Sotogrande María Parra. El conjunto español, integrado en esta ocasión por María Parra, la malagueña Ana Peláez, la valenciana Marta Pérez, la navarra Elena Hualde, la bar-
celonesa Paz Marfá y la madrileña María Herráez, todas ellas capitaneadas por Mercedes Gómez Arbex y con Marcelo Prieto de entrenador, funcionó como un reloj de principio a fin de la competición, primer clasificado en la fase previa, solvente triunfo ante Holanda en cuartos de final y convincente victoria ante Austria en semifinales. Ya en la gran final, con Italia como rival, el equipo español dio una lección de lucha, pundonor y acierto, las características precisas para revertir una situación que comenzó con España por debajo del marcador y acabó con victoria.
Por su parte, el conjunto absolute masculino, con el tesorillero Mario Galiano entre sus filas, superó a Alemania por 3.5 a 1.5 en la última de las eliminatorias del Campeonato de Europa Absoluto Masculino por Equipos, celebrado en el campo de Halmstad Golf Club (Suecia). Standing out in particular was the performance of SIGA Sotogrande Guadiaro native María Parra. •¿Cómo te aficionaste al golf? ¿Tu hermano y tu abuelo tuvieron algo que ver? Me aficioné de pequeña cuando acompañaba a mi hermano, pero como no tenía edad para dar clases, cogía de vez en cuando un palo y me ponía a mi aire a dar bolas. Como mis padres trabajaban, mi abuelo siempre era el encargado de llevarnos y a sus 81 años sigue acompañándome cada vez que puede. •¿Cómo descubriste que el golf era tu gran pasión? Inicialmente mi gran afición no era el golf sino el fútbol, pero probé, no se me daba mal y empecé a jugar pequecircuitos y campeonatos de club; poco a poco comencé a obtener triunfos y ahí fue realmente cuando se despertó mi afición. birdie que me llevó a ganar el campeonato. •Tras los comienzos…llega la oportunidad con SIGA, Academia de Golf del Colegio Internacional de Sotogrande. ¿Qué supuso eso para tu formación? ¿Qué te aportó? Me aportó mucho porque llegó una edad en la que comencé a cansarme un poco del golf y Juan Antonio Marín, mi profesor, me hizo ilusionarme tanto que gracias a ello estoy donde estoy. Él ha sido y sigue siendo mi profesor, mi amigo y el que me apoya en todo. También tengo que dar las gracias a Paul Templeton por haberme dado la oportunidad de entrar en SIGA y a día de hoy sigue ayudándome y apostando por mí. •¿Cuál ha sido el mayor beneficio de la mano de SIGA Sotogrande? Todo, porque mis padres no disponían de recursos ni de tiempo suficiente para que asistiera a muchos de los torneos y gracias a SIGA, que apostó por mí, pude conseguirlo. •¿Qué se te viene a la cabeza cuando ves tu foto en un cartel, en el autobús del colegio…?

Desde luego que mi intención sería esa, que los chicos y chicas que me siguen, puedan llegar algún día a disfrutar de este deporte como lo hago yo. •¿Qué proyectos y competiciones tienes para el resto de la temporada? Este año ha sido espectacular para mi carrera. He ganado la Copa Andalucía, la Copa Valencia, he sido primera en el ranking
nacional sub 18, he ganado el Campeonato de España sub 18 en sancti petri y acabo de llegar de República Checa del Campeonato de Europa por equipos sub 18, en el que hemos conseguido el oro. Ahora me marcho a Austria al europeo absoluto individual, a Suecia al Annika Invitational, al British Girl en Irlanda y al Interterritorial sub 25 en Gerona... jajaja y ¡no se si habrá algo más! •¿La opción de la Solheim Cup Junior podría ser un antes y un
después para ti? Si pudiese lograr jugar ese campeonato me sentiría la persona mas afortunada del mundo, porque creo que es una meta para cualquier jugadora de golf de esta edad. •¿Te planteas el salto a profesional? Me lo planteo pero a largo plazo. Ahora quiero seguir jugando y cogiendo experiencia para cuando este preparada poder dar el salto al mundo profesional. •¿Qué te gusta más allá del golf? Salir con mis amigas, estar con mi familia, escuchar música, el fútbol... soy muy aficionada del CD Guadiaro, y sobre todo viajar y conocer a tanta gente como conoces con el golf. •¿Qué te dicen tus amigos sobre que aparezcas en revistas, periódicos…? Se sienten orgullosos pero lo ven con naturalidad porque yo sigo siendo la misma guadiareña y amiga de siempre. •Cuando vuelves a la zona, ¿en qué campo/os nunca pierdes la oportunidad de jugar? En RCG Sotogrande, Alcaidesa y La Cañada. son los campos en los que suelo practicar.
“Siga managed to get my hopes with golf and get where I am” •How did you get into golf? Your brother and grandfather played a role? I got into at a young age when I would accompany my brother, but given that I was too young to take classes, I would sometimes take a club and would just hit balls as I pleased. Due to the fact my parents were always working, my grandfather always had to take us and at the age of 81 he still comes along whenever he can. •How did you discover that golf was your great passion? Initially my great love was not golf, it was football, however I tried golf, I wasn’t bad at it and I began to play on little circuits and club championships; little by little I began to get wins and that is when my interest was really awakened. I made a lot of new friends, travelled…that helped. •Any memories from your first win, or the first competition you
played in… I remember playing in Guadalhorce (Málaga) on the par 3 course and on hole 7 my ball was behind a little hillock, that was more like a mountain to me because I couldn’t see the green and then suddenly I heard applause and I made my first birdie that led me to victory in the championship. •After your start…an opportunity arrived with SIGA, Sotogrande International Golf Academy. What did that mean for your training? How did you benefit from it? I got a lot out of it because it arrived at a time when I was beginning to tire a little with golf and my teacher Juan Antonio Marín, got me excited about the game, so much so that I am where I am thanks to him. He has been and continues to be my teacher and friend and supports everything I do. I also have to thank Paul Templeton for giving me the
opportunity to enter the SIGA and even today he still helps me and really backs me... •What was the greatest benefit of SIGA Sotogrande? Everything, because my parents neither had the resources or enough time to allow me to attend lots of tournaments and thanks to SIGA who backed me, I was able to achieve that. •What comes into your head when you see your photo on a poster on the school bus…? Do you think that you can inspire younger children? Well ... I just can’t believe it. Of course that is my aim, to get children to follow me so that one day they might enjoy the sport as much as me. •What projects and competitions do you have planned for the rest of the season? This year has been spectacular for my career. I won the Copa Andalucía, the Copa Valencia, I was first in
national under-18 rankings, I won the under-18 Spanish Championship at Sancti Petri and I have just arrived back from the European Championship for Under-18 teams that was held in the Czech Republic, where we won gold. Now I am heading to Austria for the overall European singles tournament, to Sweden for the Annika Invitational, to the British Girl tournament in Ireland and to the Under-25 Inter-Territorial competition in Gerona…haha and I don’t know, there could be something else! •The option of the Junior Solheim Cup Junior could be a beginning and an after for you? If I could manage to play in that championship I would feel like the luckiest person in the world, because I believe that it is a goal for any golf player of this age. •Do you plan to make the step up to becoming a professional?
I am planning it, but in the long term. Now I want to keep playing and getting experience so that I am ready I can then take the step up to the professional world. •What do you like apart from golf? Going out with friends, being with my family, listening to music, football…I am a big fan of CD Guadiaro, and I especially like travelling and getting to meet as many people as you do with golf. •What do your friends say about you appearing in magazines and newspapers…? They feel proud, but they see it as natural because I am still the same girl from Guadiaro and the same friend as always. •When you go back to the area, what course do you never miss the opportunity to play at? RCG Sotogrande, Alcaidesa and La Cañada. They are the courses I usually practice on.

El mejor polo del mundo regresa a Sotogrande un verano más para la celebración del 44 Torneo Internacional de Polo Land Rover de Santa María Polo Club. Un espectáculo único que sitúa a Sotogrande de nuevo en el centro de todas las miradas del mundo del polo. Un nueva edición que copará el mayor interés a nivel deportivo y mucho más por todo lo que rodea a este gran espectáculo durante el mes de agosto en Sotogrande. Arranca el 28 de julio y acaba con la final de la Copa
de Oro el 29 de agosto. Un torneo muy especial, ya que la World Polo Tour clalificó a principios de año con un total de 125 puntos al ganador de la Copa de Oro, de 22 goles de handicap (la misma valoración que la Queen´s Cup). Además, la Copa de Plata pasa de ser WPT Cup a WPT Championship Cup. Logrando incluso que por primera vez se incluya en dicha división la Copa de Bronce en 2015, como Trofeo Subsidiario de la Copa de Plata, suponiendo 90 puntos para los ganadores.
También se repartirán puntos en las copas de Oro y Plata de Nivel medio. Un año más, varios de los mejores equipos y jugadores del mundo competirán por el máximo entorchado de Santa María Polo Club. Son muchas las miradas que estarán depositadas este verano en el Torneo Internacional de Verano de Santa María Polo Club en la competición del Mediano Handicap, la cual cuenta con varias novedades. La principal y que más llama la atención es el aumento del número de goles de handicap
entre los equipos participantes. En ediciones pasadas se trataba de 12 goles y este año pasa a ser de 14; lo que eleva bastante el nivel de la competición. El nivel medio contará este año con recompensa de puntos Wolrd Tour para las ganadores de las finales de Plata y Oro. Este
salto cuantitativo en el número de goles elevará también cualitativamente el segundo escalafón deportivo del torneo, cobrando una relevancia mayor a la que nunca antes había tenido en Sotogrande. Por lo que no sólo el alto handicap ocupará el mayor protagonismo este verano.

The Medium-Goal competition takes the spotlight this summer This summer a lot of eyes will be on the Santa María Polo Club International Summer Tournament’s Medium-Goal competition, which has undergone many changes. The main difference and the one that has gained the largest amount of attention is the increase in the number of handicap goals
among the teams taking part. In previous editions it was a 12-goal handicap competition, while this year it will be 14; which will mean a significant increase in the standard of the competition. The winners of the Silver and Gold cups in the medium-goal competition will be rewarded with World Tour

La playa de Torreguadiaro se convertirá en una pista de tenis veraniega, con la celebración de un campeonato de Tenis playa el 24 y 25 de Julio.. El Tenis playa o tambien llamado beach tennis es un deporte realmente novedoso, federado, social y asequible para todos. Para realizar este deporte se utiliza pala de padel o una específica de menor grosor y con otras medidas. Pista de igual tamaño al voley playa y red a 1,70.
Durante este verano, realizarán competiciones sociales, los cuales se jugará un todos contra todos viernes y sábados. Además realizarán torneos por categorías en las siguientes fechas previstas: 24-25 julio y 1415 agosto. Para grupos privados o empresas organizan actividades deportivas con almuerzos, cenas u otras posibilidades, en colaboración con el Chiringuito Bahía Limón.

Beach tennis, an attraction in Torreguadiaro this summer Torreguadiaro beach will become a summer tennis court as the Beach Tennis Championship takes place on 24 and 25 July. Beach Tennis is a really new
sport that is federated. It is sociable and affordable for all. A padel racket or a specific racket that is not as thick and a different size. The court is the same size as in beach volley and the
net is 1.70 metres high. During the summer, there will be social competitions, which will be everyone against everyone on Fridays and Saturdays. There will also be tournaments
organised into categories on the following scheduled dates: 24-25 July and 14-15 August. Private groups and companies can organise sports activities with lunches, dinners and oth-

Seven Sevens se lleva el Memorial Fundador Enrique Zobel Gran éxito del torneo, disputado en Sotogrande entre las canchas de Ayala Polo Club y de Puente de Hierro de Santa María Polo Club 1 Manuel Gil
Gran jornada final del XXII Memorial Fundador Enrique Zobiel de Polo, organizado por Santa María Polo Club y disputado a caballo entre las canchas de Puente de Hierro y de Ayala Polo Club, ambas entidades han colaborado un año más estrechamente para conseguir un gran éxito en la celebración de uno de los torneos clásicos al inicio de la temporada de verano en Sotogrande. Un torneo que en esta edición contó con tres jornadas previas clasificatorias (de jueves a sñabado) y que dejó para la Gran Final
del domingo un gran espectáculo, un entretenido y disputadísima choque decisivo entre Seven Sevens y Dr. A que cayó en manos del primero tras imponerse por 7.5 a 7 goles. Con un último chukker de infarto, en el que el cuarteto de Dr. A. mantuvo opciones hasta el último suspiro. Pero finalmente, el cuadro formado por Nikita Vozianov, Rosendo Torreguitar, Nicolas Espain y Pelayo Berazadi logró llevarse el triunfo. Victoria conseguida ante un numeroso público que se agolpaba en el lateral de la cancha de Ayala
(un escenario maravilloso), repleto de caras conocidas en Sotogrande tanto del mundo del polo como de su comunidad. Destacaba la presencia de muchos miembros de la familia Zobel, en representación del que fuese el gran promotor e impulsor del polo en Sotogrande y a quien recordaba con este memorial. Ademas, Shakib Polo finalizó tercero en el podio, llevándose el trofeo subsidiario, tras derrotar a Woodchester por 12 a 6; Bayswater-Sapphire acabó en la quinta posición tras vencer a K2 9 a 6.5.

Seven Sevens win the Memorial Fundador Enrique Zobel Great success for the tournament that took place in Sotogrande with game held between the pitches of Ayala Polo Club and Santa María Polo Club’s Puente de Hierro It was a great day at the final of the XXII Memorial Fundador Enrique Zobiel de Polo, organized by Santa María Polo Club that was played on horseback between pitches at Puente de Hierro and Ayala Polo Club. Once again this year, both bodies have worked together closely to ensure the success of one of the classic tournaments held at the start of the summer season in Sotogrande. However, finally it was the team comprised of Nikita Vozianov, Rosendo Torreguitar, Nicolas Espain and Pelayo Berazadi who got the triumph. The win came in front of lot of spectators, who crowded around the side of the Ayala pitch. It was a marvelous sight, and the place
was full of well-known faces from both Sotogrande as well as from the world of polo and its community. The presence of lots of members of the Zobel family stood out, representing the man who was the great promotor and backer of polo in Sotogrande, who was being remembered with this memorial tournament. Also, Shakib Polo finished third on the podium, winning the subsidiary trophy after managing to defeat Woodchester by 12 to 6; Bayswater-Sapphire finished in fifth place after beating K2 by 9 to 6.5.

Alexander Amey, madera de campeón de golf El joven jugador conquista el Campeonato de España Benjamín y logra su segundo máximo galardón Nacional con una prometedora trayectoria 1 Manuel Gil
Alexander Amey, ‘Alex’ como le llaman sus más allegados, es un chico como otros; sonríe, juega, estudia, se divierte pero hay algo en él que no es muy común entre sus amigos y compañeros de la misma edad: una pasión desmesurada por el golf. Una pasión que le llegó casi por instinto propio a practicar este deporte, algo que él asegura que podría hacer todos los días y a casi todas horas, y que pese a su corta edad ya le ha dado más de una satisfacción a todos los que le conocen. Recientemente se ha proclamado Campeón de España en Categoría Benjamín de 10 años, tras una portentosa actuación en el trazado valenciano del Club de Golf Escorpión. Todo un hito que toma aún mayor relevancia si se mira hacia atrás y se recuerda que hace dos años conquistó el máximo trofeo nacional en la categoría de 8 años y el año pasado alcanzó el podio en la de 9 años. Aunque si algo define a Alex y a su manera de entender el golf
es su compañerismo y saber entender el deporte como lo que es. Durante la celebración de la última final del Campeonato nacional, tras el error en un putt del chico con el que se jugaba el título y que lo convertía en campeón, lo primero que hizo fue
irse directamente hacia él, darle un abrazo y consolarle. “No te preocupes, podrías haber ganado tú, seguro que el año que viene nos volvemos a ver”, explica el propio Álex; en una actitud elogiable y tan necesaria en el deporte infantil.

However, there is something in him that is not very common among his class mates of the same age: he is crazily passionate about golf. The passion came about almost through his own instinct by playing the sport, ns he states that he could play it every day at any time of the day. Despite being so young, he has already brought great satisfaction to everyone who knows him. He
was recently crowned Champion of Spain in the Under-10 age category, following a majestic performance at the Valencian Club de Golf Escorpión course. It was a milestone moment that looks even better if you look back and remember that two years ago he won the top national trophy in the under-8 category and last year was on the podium for the under-9 category. However, if there is something that defines Alex and his way of understanding golf it is camaraderie and ability to understand sport for
what it is. When the final of the last national Championship was being held, after a putting error from the boy who was competing for the title with him, that made him champion, the first thing Alex did was to go directly towards his opponent. He gave him a hug, and consoled him. Alex states he said “Don’t worry; you could have own, I am sure that next year we will see one another again”. This is certainly a praiseworthy and very necessary attitude in child sport. If there is something that defines

Practica otros deportes como fútbol, tenis o natación, pero admite que “lo que más me gusta es jugar al golf, entrenar, competir,…podría hacerlo todos los días”, señala lleno de ilusión en la cara cada vez que oye la posibilidad de jugar. Es socio en el Real Club de Golf Sotogrande y actualmente entrena en el Real Club de Golf Guadalmina. Compagina sus estudios con entrenamientos y torneos, lo que pone a gala su dedicación, disciplina y compromiso. Y no duda cada vez que tiene un rato libre en en casa en sintonizar en la televisión el conocido canal dedicado exclusivamente al golf. “Rory Mcllroy y Sergio García son mis dos referentes”, detalla.
Además de los dos Nacionales, Alex cuenta con numerosos premios en torneos de la Federación Andaluza, tanto de Pitch & Putt, como en los disputados en su categoría. Pero no pasa por alto, que además de la influencia positiva de su familia, hay una persona muy culpable de todo ello: su entrenador, Antonio Jiménez. Para Amey es como un segundo padre y clave en su formación deportiva y personal, por todo el cariño, dedicación y profesionalidad con la que trata tanto a él como al resto de alumnos. Una persona a la que quiere elogiar en esta parte final de su entrevista con El Periódico de Sotogrande y agradecer todo lo que hace tanto por él como por el resto de sus compañeros.
Alex, it is his idolatry of golf. He plays other sports such as football, tennis and swimming. However, he admits that “what I most like to do is play golf, train, compete...I could do it every day”, he states with excitement written on his face each time he hears about the possibility of playing. He is a member of Real Club de Golf Sotogrande and currently trains at Real Club de Golf Guadalmina. He combines his studies with training and tournaments, which really shows off his dedication, discipline and commitment. He has no doubts than whenever has some spare time at home, he tunes into the wellknown television channel that is dedicated exclusively to golf. “Rory Mcllroy and Sergio García are my two benchmarks”, he outlines.
In addition to two National championships, Alex has won numerous prizes in tournaments run by the Andalusian Federation, for both Pitch & Putt, as well as competitions held for his age group. However, in addition to the positive influence of his family, there is someone who is very responsible for all of the success: his coach, Antonio Jiménez. He is like a second father for Amey and has played a key role in his sporting and personal development, due to all of the affection, dedication and professionalism with which he deals with him as well as the rest of the pupils. He is someone who Alex wants to praise in the final part of his interview with the Periódico de Sotogrande, and express gratitude for everything he has done for him and the rest of his playing mates.

Las instalaciones de Sotogrande Hípica acogieron el segundo concurso de la I Copa de Andalucía. Cita deportiva que reunió a más de 60 binomios de 10 equipos andaluces, procedentes de Málaga y Cádiz; además de una importante asistencia de públivo. Un evento de alto nivel ecuestre, rodeado por un ambiente familiar y de hermanamiento con el resto de clubes participantee;
el que descató principalmente el equipo anfitrión, Sotogrande Hípica, logrando subir al podio hasta en 16 ocasiones. Mucha emoción en las diferentes pruebas que ayudaron a la preparación del Campeonato de España, una de las grandes apuestas de esta temporada para la Doma de Sotogrande. En el apartado deportivo, la algecireña residente en Sotogran-
de Patricia Martínez, logró subir dos veces al cajón (Oro cin Kalem y Bronce con el PRE Presumido RH). La prueba Kür Juveniles, estrella de la jornada, divirtió especialmente al público asistente. Coral Buenestado, Carolina Aja y Jade Ellery, lograron Oro, Plata y Bronce, respectivamente. Los operarios de Pintura Guadiaro trabajan a destajo en la fachada de La Reserva y en el interior para finiquitar una
reforma que haga relucir al campo de golf de cara a la temporada de verano en la que ya estamos inmersos y para la que se espera un gran número de aficionados al golf que desean disfrutar de La Reserva, campo que cada año aumenta su prestigio. Estos trabajos se unen a los ya realizados con la remodelación de fuentes y vegetación a las puertas de la Casa Club, ejecutado hace unas semanas.

Podemos dividir las quemaduras en 3 tipos o grados diferentes según la profundidad. Las más leves se consideran de primer grado y las más graves son las de tercer grado. Las quemaduras de primer grado serían las quemaduras superficiales, que producen enrojecimiento de la piel, sin que aparezcan ampollas ni otra lesión visible. Estas suelen doler al tocarlas. Las quemaduras de este tipo más frecuentes son las quemaduras solares, aunque también aparecen por otras causas. En el caso de que se trate de una que-

madura de poca extensión, por ejemplo en una mano, la mantendremos debajo de un grifo con agua fría durante unos minutos. Esto además de aliviar el dolor ayuda a enfriar la zona y evita que la quemadura se extienda más. En el caso de ser quemaduras de 2º grado, la curaremos con agua y jabón y la protegeremos para evitar que se infecte. No es recomendable utilizar yodo, ya que este reseca bastante la herida. Si se trata de una herida de 3º grado, será necesario acudir a un hospital para que sea tratada por un especialista.

The most frequent burns of this kind are sunburn, though they can also happen due to other causes. If the burn is small, for instance on
a hand, it should be held under a cold water tap for a few minutes. In addition to alleviating the pain this helps to cool down the area and prevents the burn from spreading. In the case of second-degree burns, they would be washed with soap and water and protected to prevent infection. Iodine should not be used, since this tends to dry out the wound. If it is a third-degree burn, you will need to go to hospital so that it can be treated by a specialist.
